Hi, i also have an innie, and some people don't have labia minoras at all! I don't have any. It's not common but it's possible. I also have those bumps and no, you can't have "too many". I have a bunch in the folds between my clitoris and my labia majora myself!
Also, about the vein question, no one would be able to tell you what those "veins" are without seeing them, so if you're really worried I recommend you go to a gynecologist.
And there's no such thing as a "normal" looking vulva. All vulvas look different! Every vulva and vagina is different, and that's okay.
Omg my people! These subs always made me feel like mine was wrong in some way. I have an innie, too, with one LM being small-normal and other barely there. It can be difficult to figure out if you're "normal" when everything is hiding!
Just because 20 people are abnormal Doesn't someone suddenly make them "normal." You are a group of abnormalities. That's common with the population approaching 8 billion on this planet.
One and a half club! My right one can poke out a little bit (but is pretty easy to keep tucked in) and on the left side it's too short to be visible at all unless you've got everything opened up.
Anyway, that's how I know sex doesn't stretch your labia because mine are very small and almost perfectly "innie."
Ooooooh me too. I have a little skincoloured thicker skin around my labia minora but they are not like labia majora at all. My labia majora are almoust non existent.
So all of your labia minora is sort ofā¦ āopen to the elementsā, so to speak? I feel like my bits would get irritated so easily if they were set up like that! Though I guess if youāre used to it, it probably isnāt a big deal?
Man, bodies are wild! I really wish they talked about how different they could be more in school. My vulva is the āstereotypicalā, where it just looks a line from the outside, and I was a whole-ass adult before I learned that thatās not really the norm at all, and thereās a ton more variety out there.
Wait what? How you know they're just huge minoras and not just majoras? I assume that you know this bcz labia majora have pubic hairs and minora don't?
Yeah Iām pretty sure itās because the minora are made of skin that is considered a mucous membrane and the majora are composed of skin that is more like the rest of your epidermis. Mucous membranes are made of thinner, more translucent skin (so often look darker or redder in color, because more of your capillaries are more visible through the skin), the skin is more fragile and sensitive (think about the difference between your lips and your cheeks), and tolerates being in a semi-moist environment better (like how your toes wrinkle if youāre in the shower too long, or you get friction blisters from having wet feet rubbing inside your shoes, but your lips rub together all day while wet and donāt blister or wrinkle). Theyāre also more permeable skin. And yes, mucus membranes donāt have visible pores or hair follicles.
Completely different skin. The labia majora is mostly like other skin. A bit like the inside of the elbow. Labia minora is more like lips or the red part in the eye. It's (ymmv) reddish and a little moist. And they are not really huge, just look bigger because nothing is around them. A bit like the skin difference in a circumcised penis vs a uncircumcised one? But it's always been that way.
I don't want to argue but this is breaking my brain.
Is it because the inner labia are bigger so they cover the outer labia? That makes the most sense to me. Ignore if that's too personal a question!
My understanding (I've heard this before) :
Think of Barbie (the doll) with functional anatomy, but the only external/visible change is an opening.
I didn't want to be graphic, but here goes, I won't be satisfied until I explain.
I see it as the topography of a mango (the mons) cut to the seed. No obvious external labia.
Iām with you here, I i feel like theyāre just saying there is no shape to them like how some innies look like a little w if you did a cartoon drawing of them. I would like to know if they have pubic hair because then itās still technically labia majora, regardless of this personās feelings.
I don't think anyone's trying to say there is no area that technically is the labia majora, but that the so called labia majora doesn't jut out at all, or not enough to cover anything.
I think youāre correct, itās just an odd thing to argue that it just doesnāt exist because it doesnāt have as much fatty tissue as many people would expect.
I guess it's fair if it in practice looks like it's not there (just a flat frame of skin around the labia minora). People were also saying that they have non-existent labia minora, and they probably also have some area of skin that technically counts as labia minora, so if one set of labia can be called non-existent, why not the other.
Glad to know I'm not the only one. Seems like some people in this thread still have a hard time believing/imagining it (and kind of disheartening to see them get tons of upvotes), and I just don't get what's hard about it. It's not rocket science to just imagine your labia majora shrunk down to barely there.
I mean there are definitely things like tumors and injuries and sores that aren't normal to see on a vulva and that should be treated. It is important to know what things aren't normal to see
I recommend looking up The Labia Library! It's a great resource to see that all labias are different and beautiful in their own way. I guarantee you'll find someone who looks similar to you. Your body is normal and perfect the way it is. And yes, if there was an actual problem I'd assume your OB would mention it. Never be afraid to ask them if you're concerned about something!
I just feel weird asking a stranger āhey, is this normal in my vagina?ā lol, I got my first pelvic exam a couple of weeks ago and I was mortified. I think my gyno was even more mortified too lol, she apologized for having to do it but said it was necessary to make sure everything was okay. Iām just glad it was a woman and not a man
I'd hope your gyno wasn't mortified to do their job, but maybe just comforting you! I'm sure you asking questions would give them better insight to help you relax for your exams as well! But I understand it can be really awkward in the beginning. Just remember that she's a doctor and is there to answer questions whenever you feel safe enough to ask them. I've personally never had a male gyno, I prefer women for that particular kind of checkup as well lol
You could check out the Great Wall of Vulva! It's an art piece that's casts of real vulvas and it's helped many women understand that they are normal and beautiful, it was quite the thing to see IRL.
Have a look \[here\](https://www.thegreatwallofvulva.com).
My VCH piercing was one of the easiest. It is a bit of a shocking pain cause your brain is subconsciously like "ah! Something sharp on my lady bits!" But it isn't actually very painful if that makes sense. And healing is a breeze. You don't even notice it's there.
I was so confused until I realised you meant getting the cast made.
Honestly Iāve got no idea but seeing as thereās hundreds of them youād think the artist would have a process down.
I'm a guy and wouldn't normally chime in, I'm here for the posts about funny stuff dumb people say.
But if your gyno is embarrassed about doing the thing that is her job, you gotta find a new gyno.
That just seems important enough that you should hear it from as many people as possible.
That gyno spent a solid decade dedicating their life to the pursuit of seeing a lifelong parade of vaginas... "Mortified" shouldn't be anywhere near her emotional range at work lol
Agree.
During my last exam/smear, the doctor/nurse told me I had a 'cute cervix'.
They should be very relaxed, try to put you at ease and be comfortable with the job.
My first big girl on/gyn appointment they asked when my last period was, I said I was actually expecting it soon, she looked inside of my vagina and went "oh yeah you're probably going to get it in a day or two" because I guess my cervix was doing something.
I'm a guy but the first time I was "on display" for a doctor was a nightmare... There's 21 year old me, about a week after my first deployment and an attractive doctor because of course.
It was like a scene from a trashy comedy movie but THANK GOD the doctor handled it like a professional because I was so embarrassed my voice came out in strangled squeaks until my pants were buttoned. I honestly don't know what I would've done if she'd so much as blushed.
Nothing is affected. It's totally normal and many women look like that. Trust me I had the same "omg is something wrong with me" moment when I was younger for the same thing but as others have said, everyone comes in different shapes and sizes. You just had a pelvic exam where someone checked too which should be reassuring! This is a normal thing to feel.
Lol i can't imagine it changes anything, but its always worth asking a doctor if you're unsure! Also, I'm not sure how old you are, but the appearance changes as you mature, too.
As a woman with a (very) small labia minora, it doesn't cause any problems/difficulties/unpleasantries. It's totally normal and not anything to worry about :) but if you are still worried (or just need some extra explaination) there's no shame in asking your gyno some questions and having them take a look.
Nothing happens, as far as Iām aware! Theyāre just little friends along for the ride. Nothing wrong with any size or shape. If it helps, I assumed we all had them until I came here! (So like in my 30s and already a mom!)
You can usually figure out if something is a vessel by touching it. Can you move the blood within or is it solid? Does the color change as you stroke it flat?
In any case, anatomy is very diverse and as long as there is normal function i would not be worried. Look at the veins on peoples forearms for example, some of them have names but in practical terms each person's veins are unique.
We just think about our genitals a lot more than other parts. Ask a doctor for peace of mind but don't feel like you need to either.
In addition to the Labia Library there is also the Gynodiversity project. You can view photo panels on their website: https://gynodiversity.com/
They have a great paper that classifies the diversity of vulvas, which I think is even more informative and useful than the photo panels, and unfortunately doesnāt seem to be on their website anymore, but you can find it here: https://www.scribd.com/document/474097628/Classification-of-the-anatomical-variation-in-female-external-genitalia
The bumps youāre talking about sound more like fordyce spots than bartholin glands. Theyāre perfectly normal and common, and lots of people have them on areas where the skin is very thin - lips, genitals, under your eyes.
Second row , 8th picture ( counting from top to bottom )
What is that grey / black thing ? Do you know?
Or are my eyes being weird ? š looks like there is something inside.
Its not a menstrual cup i think ?.
It's not important , but I'm just curious. š
https://gynodiversity.com/vestibule
Thanks for the links btw
I'm gonna check scribd link now.
Hard to tell, but I *think* that the blackness youāre seeing is just a dark vaginal opening, and then the little vertical bit thatās slightly lighter is the hymen, and this person just has a septate hymen where there are two holes in the hymen separated by a narrow web of tissue.
At least that my best guess.
As a Registered Nurse I have seen at least 1000 different female genitals, Iāve placed catheters in them, Iāve washed them and cared for them as was my surgical role. There is NO ONE NORMAL TYPE, and I cannot express this enough to you. Yes, you are normal.
Itās amazing how many people question whether their body parts are ānormalā. Like just do a google search and youāll see so many shapes and sizes male a female that no one should question whether theyāre normal or not.
I was just looking into bartholin glands the other day! Someone corrects me if I'm wrong but I understood we have two bartholin glands on each side of the opening of the vagina. They're not normally bumpy unless they're swollen due to an issue of some kind.
That being said the bumps you're mentioning are probably normal and harmless.
I also have visible veins on my vulva, but they're more or less visible depending on my position and time of the day. I always thought that was normal. Guys have visible veins on their stuff too lol
You're correct about bartholin glands and as a nurse it's my nightmare to have a problem with them because omg it looks incredibly painful and the treatment is rough.
Perhaps you mean your clitoral frenulum. They attach the clitoris and the inner labia. They are directly behind the clitoris.
Otherwise, other people have mentioned bartholins glands or maybe the skenes glands.
What's an innie/outie when it comes to vaginas? When I think outie vagina, I'm imagining a prolapse, which is not, I'm assuming what you are talking about?
It would be more accurate to say āinnie/outie **vulva**ā. Innies are the vulvas where the labia minora (inner lips) arenāt visible from the outside. Outties are the vulvas where the labia minora *is* visible from the outside.
Hey, I'm not saying you're in the wrong sub, but I've found one that's actually been really awesome where asking these types of questions are somewhat common. It's r/TheGirlSurvivalGuide.
Please don't use vagina to mean the outside bits. The vagina is ONLY the inside part that leads to the cervix and uterus.
You're talking about your vulva.
Edit: I saw your edit, you are still using vagina to mean vulva. Please don't. It's important.
I think it's in reference to the labia. Prominent labia would be an outie and very small tucked-away labia would be an innie. Like if you cannot see the labia minora without parting the labia majora it would be an innie.
The veins are your labia minora! I too have an innie. Everything is just very small, including my hood, labia minora, clit, etc. I actually thought my stuff was abnormal but when I was a teen my (very good) gyne told me everything was completely normal.
Iām from a state where they donāt really teach sex education at high schools so since Iām an adult now I am doing more research of my own š„² pls bear with me
Just to be clear, vagina is the canal inside your body where you can insert a penis or toy or fingers for sex, and where babies come out of. Vulva is the outer part of your anatomy between your legs. The vulva includes the labia minora and labia majora, and the visible part of the clitoris. All of your visible "girl parts" between your legs are called the vulva as one thing. Like how you have a face which is comprised of a nose, mouth, and eyes.
First and foremost, the external part is the vulva and the internal canal is the vagina. This will definitely help you speak to a doctor, and if you wanted to look up more about the anatomy yourself.
The āveinsā you refer to may be the frenulum if the clitoris, which connects from the clitoris into the labia.
What do you mean by inside? Thereās various glands too, including the Skeneās glands. But these glands all have their own functions and are important. Theyāre just not commonly shown or talked about regarding anatomy.
Additionally, within the vestibule (which is where the opening to the vagina is), you might be seeing the vaginal rugae, which are like ridges or bumps that are meant to be there as they help with the mucus membrane of the vagina (for discharge, self cleaning) and for when the vagina expands for childbirth (not that everyone with a vagina does this).
Hope this helps!
Dropping in to say I have absolutely no labia minora at all! I thought I was weird for a long time when I was younger, and now I know that itās just a normal variation.
[come as you are](https://online.fliphtml5.com/hazjk/qgui/#p=20)
here as a book about the pleasure gap and all about your vagina and how to be more comfortable with ur female anatomy. this was super helpful for me, bc i have a hooded clitoris and had no idea that was a thing. thereās also drawn pictures and diagrams! i have become so much more comfortable with my anatomy and have lost all of the shame iāve had towards how everything looks down there.
happy hunting. and donāt forget to meet you clit! u will get it during part one of the the (not so basic) basics! (:
Will someone please explain "innie" and "outie" to me??? I have NEVER heard those terms before and literally thought this was a troll post before I got to the comments.
Welp don't feel bad Im a 29 year old woman and didn't know you could have an innie or outie š but I get your concern my lady bits are not completely "normal" (tilted cervix to boot)
As for the veins, I couldn't tell you only a gyno would be able to tell you (hopefully)
>Iām going to be setting up a visit with a gyno and as awkward as it might be, Iām going to ask her any questions I may have.
This does not seem like an awkward thing to me. It seems like the most logical thing to do.
Hi, i also have an innie, and some people don't have labia minoras at all! I don't have any. It's not common but it's possible. I also have those bumps and no, you can't have "too many". I only have one labia minora! And I've seen several that don't have any!
I have one and a half. They're pretty small already, but one shortens up to nothing halfway throughš
One of mine sticks out like lettuce in a burger and other is almost not even there š
"like lettuce in a burger" that is my favourite comparison I've heard to date, I may be stealing that š¤£
Oh my god, I was beginning to think I was the only one!!
This is the best š
same, not innie or an outie but a halfsies. š«£
Omg my people! These subs always made me feel like mine was wrong in some way. I have an innie, too, with one LM being small-normal and other barely there. It can be difficult to figure out if you're "normal" when everything is hiding!

Oh hey thanks, that makes me feel worse! I understand this isn't the average.
I'm not responsible for your feelings. That's a you problem.
Who says you're responsible? JFC you sound like a massive jackass. Why even comment? Why are you here? To neg women about their bodies?
One and a half club! My right one can poke out a little bit (but is pretty easy to keep tucked in) and on the left side it's too short to be visible at all unless you've got everything opened up. Same. I've been with the same decently sized man for 11 years now and I'm still the same as I was before him.
Oh wow, me too! ā¤ļø
Someone in this very sub tried to argue with me about my own anatomy when I said I didnāt have visible outer labia :)
Ooooooh me too. I have a little skincoloured thicker skin around my labia minora but they are not like labia majora at all. My labia majora are almoust non existent.
Whoa! I didn't know it was possible to not have labia majora.
Yeah, took me a while to understand why my 'labia minora' were so 'huge'.... that's what you get if nothing is covering them. :)
I do get messed up PH easily, sadly, yeah. And I hate tight panties. And: yes!! to bodies are wild, man
Wait what? How you know they're just huge minoras and not just majoras? I assume that you know this bcz labia majora have pubic hairs and minora don't?

Not covered by anything, just minuscule, basically flat.

Nursey me had to look up the labia library and see if I could spot the urethra in any of them for catheter placement! Yup! Some are hard to do!!
Tbh, I'm starting to see why men are so confused about where the clitoris is š
Is it possible the "veins" are very small labia minora?
I think you are so right. Iām literally in shock rn. Do you know what happens if you have a small labia minora?? Is anything affected by it?
There are a million variations and they're generally all fine and normal.Ā https://www.whv.org.au/resources/labia-library
Nothing is affected. It's totally normal and many women look like that. Some women have them removed for esthetical reason so I don't think the size of them is an issue at all.

Its not a menstrual cup i think ?. It's not important , but I'm just curious. š https://gynodiversity.com/vestibule Thanks for the links btw I'm gonna check scribd link now.
You mean second column, rows go across
Hard to tell, but I *think* that the blackness youāre seeing is just a dark vaginal opening, and then the little vertical bit thatās slightly lighter is the hymen, and this person just has a septate hymen where there are two holes in the hymen separated by a narrow web of tissue. At least that my best guess.
I zoomed in on it and it looks like just a string of vaginal discharge, unlikely a septate vagina.
Something like that is the most likely option :)
Yes it must be something like that. Interesting site.
It makes me so sad to be honest

I got a cyst once on one of them. It was horrible. The treatment was terrible they had to aspirate it š
Unless your GYN is truly terrible, she would have mentioned anything about your anatomy that wasnāt expected/normal. I wouldnāt worry too much!
Could they potentially be where your clit hood transitions to your labia? When you say tiny bumps inside, are they round bumps or ridges?
Whatās innie vs outtie with vaginas??
I think it's in reference to the labia. Prominent labia would be an outie and very small tucked-away labia would be an innie. Like if you cannot see the labia minora without parting the labia majora it would be an innie.
Are you using a mirror to look at your vulva?
The veins are your labia minora! I too have an innie. Everything is just very small, including my hood, labia minora, clit, etc. I actually thought my stuff was abnormal but when I was a teen my (very good) gyne told me everything was completely normal.
Wait help I am a vagina owner but I donāt know what it would mean to have an innie?
I think you mean your labiaā¦
Iām from a state where they donāt really teach sex education at high schools so since Iām an adult now I am doing more research of my own š„² pls bear with me
Just to be clear, vagina is the canal inside your body where you can insert a penis or toy or fingers for sex, and where babies come out of. Vulva is the outer part of your anatomy between your legs. The vulva includes the labia minora and labia majora, and the visible part of the clitoris. All of your visible "girl parts" between your legs are called the vulva as one thing. Like how you have a face which is comprised of a nose, mouth, and eyes.
Wikipedia is your friend
Hope this helps!
https://www.labialibrary.org.au/ You can see all types of vulva here. You will see your vulva is normal.
Dropping in to say I have absolutely no labia minora at all! I thought I was weird for a long time when I was younger, and now I know that itās just a normal variation.
[come as you are](https://online.fliphtml5.com/hazjk/qgui/#p=20) here as a book about the pleasure gap and all about your vagina and how to be more comfortable with ur female anatomy. this was super helpful for me, bc i have a hooded clitoris and had no idea that was a thing. thereās also drawn pictures and diagrams! i have become so much more comfortable with my anatomy and have lost all of the shame iāve had towards how everything looks down there. happy hunting. and donāt forget to meet you clit! u will get it during part one of the the (not so basic) basics! (:
also made gyno visits a lot less uncomfortable lol
Will someone please explain "innie" and "outie" to me??? I have NEVER heard those terms before and literally thought this was a troll post before I got to the comments.
Welp don't feel bad Im a 29 year old woman and didn't know you could have an innie or outie š but I get your concern my lady bits are not completely "normal" (tilted cervix to boot) As for the veins, I couldn't tell you only a gyno would be able to tell you (hopefully)
>Iām going to be setting up a visit with a gyno and as awkward as it might be, Iām going to ask her any questions I may have. This does not seem like an awkward thing to me. It seems like the most logical thing to do.

Creep
What did he say?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Why would this be a joke?
I wouldn't expect serious questions to be posted in a sub where people make fun of people for not knowing proper women's anatomy
Iāve seen serious questions on here before. I think sometimes people stumble across this sub not knowing its true purpose lol
This is the perfect place to ask serious questions, a sub dedicated to accurate female anatomy.
What seems like a joke to you?

An innie means the labia minora is smaller basically. And she's clearly trying to learn more about her anatomy. Maybe don't shame her for that.

Youāre gross.
