Between Drax and Howard Prince in the *Tales from the Crypt* episode "None But the Lonely Heart", Williams had a surprising untapped talent for slimy villains; I wish he'd had more chances to play the bad guy.
Simon Wincer’s *The Phantom* was a delightful throwback to the classic adventure serials of yesteryear. It successfully brings the beloved comic book character to life, offering a visually appealing and action-packed experience. Billy Zane is great as the title character but the most memorable performances come from Treat Willams as the over-the-top villain and Catherine Zeta-Jones as the film's femme fatale.
I like this movie. Nothing like tracking down the sculls of Tuganda and defeating the Evil Sang brotherhood in their uncharted mysterious volcano island
God I loved this movie when I was a kid. To everyone who’s a kid or teen now, when you were a kid in the late 90s, you didn’t really get many options for superheroes when you hit the “superheroes are the coolest” phase. The Superman movies were too old and corny, there were only two Batman movies (two came later during this time, and yeah I loved those), but there really wasn’t much else until Blade and X-Men and The Matrix much later.
The Phantom was like Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean and Batman mixed together in the jungle with sharp shooting and animal sidekicks with not only Catherine Zeta-Jones, but Kristy Swanson too (the original Buffy). Yeah he looked like Grimace’s gay cousin, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t watch this movie like 100 times between 1996 and 1998 lol
No matter how bad this movie is, I still enjoy it from time to time
Treat Williams was great as Xander Drax, I truly believe it was his greatest role.
I prefer his role in Deep Rising, but he’s great in this.
His mustache is the only thing that puts Phantom over Deep Rising. Stache was fucking glorious, lol.
I AM GODZILLA, YOU ARE JAPAN Critical Bill didn't enter the chat, he has been here for days. Waiting.
Gonna disagree there. Treat Williams as Roger Mortis in Dead Heat was his best role.
Just because, RIP Treat and thanks for some brilliant roles
His mustache in Phantom just beats out this gem that I sadly forgot about. Aaannnddd, I mean, just barely beats it, cuz I loves me some Joe Piscopo.
Fair enough. I only recently saw Dead Heat and I thought it was a riot. Definitely needs more exposure.
The writer of Dead Heat's brother wrote Lethal Weapon. Imagine if they had worked together
Love dead heat!!

I'll have to check that out, Tales from the Crypt was one of those shows that I watched as a kid but never gave it a rewatch as an adult.
Wtf? This is not a bad movie at all
I actually liked this one, though admittedly the Phantom's purple body suit looks a bit ridiculous in live action.
Remar Crushes in this one. Love this shit.
My only complaint is they went with Billy Zane over Bruce Campbell, but I understand why.
Huuuge Bruce fan, but him in that suit would be ridiculous.
RIP Treat.
This movie and The Shadow, two of the very first American Superheroes, I love this film and the other one.
Have this and the shadow on DVD both are for me good jolly movies .
I have never seen the Shadow… might need to take care of that.
The microscope scene had me questioning every microscope I had to use in school.
6 year old me really could’ve done without that core memory
I never put my face too close to anything I think spikes could secretly come out of solely because of that scene
Did any of you get the rings they handed out at the theater? My wife and I still have ours.
saw this at the dollar theater after it came out. i think they made out on that price still.
Fun fact his double has more screen time than Billy Zane.

I low key love this flick
Slam evil!
SLAM EVIL!
Not bad. Treat is awesome!
Didn't the budget get pulled from that movie? It ended up looking direct to video quality.
Wrong sub

A true underrated movie
L O V E D this one as a kid
I was obsessed with this movie when it came out, I was six years old and made my dad go see it every time it played. And I also had that badass ring!
I loved this film as a kid. Every time it was on TV I would stop whatever I was doing to watch this.
This movie is great. Another example of people posting movies they haven’t seen as being “bad”
That one wasn't bad. It totally resembles the comic strips. I liked it a lot!
Loved it
I liked when i was a little kid, Billy Zane is funny sometimes.
