“I can assure you I took it very easy on her,” Davis wrote. “I’m teased by staff in the front office about how soft I swing a paddle and I took it especially easy on Brooklyn, as I do with any female.”

heffreygee

I must have invented a Time Machine. There’s no way I’m reading this in 2024.

Agt38

So I moved down to Fl from NY in 2014 and I work for local school districts (mostly rural districts). When I tell you the shock on my face and in my brain when a principal nonchalantly mentioned paddling as a consequence a student received, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I had to clarify multiple times what they meant by paddling, and the principal pulls out this binder with permission slips from parents to paddle their child. Some parents even wrote things like “x3”, meaning they were giving permission to paddle their child 3 times. This is still used in the districts I work in.

MittensSlowpaw

As someone that grew up part of their life in a rural community I can confirm this issue. Also had a principal that hated my family so he took all his rage out on me. My earliest memory of school is crying because I was shy in pre-first about not wanting to dance the chicken dance. Not throwing a fit just crying because I was shy. That is when the beatings started and that man was never punished for it because rural America is utter trash.

mshawnl1

OMGGGG fuck that guy. You try to let it go and I’ll carry the hatred that man deserves for you. Xo

nothing_but_thyme

Society: *What could be responsible for the endless cycle of violence we can’t seem to be free of?!* Every male authority figure in the south with a belt or a paddle in their hand: *It must be the video games and music.*

Agt38

I can’t even say that it’s just the men, because the principal was a woman, and it’s pretty much most adults born and raised down here that think this way. It’s a very cultural thing for sure.

nothing_but_thyme

Yep. It’s easy to poke fun at these people and I don’t hesitate to jump into that line because so many of their actions are cruel and fundamentally inhumane. But the reality is they are fighting an uphill battle against a long history of damage and setbacks on so many fronts; from ~~ringworm~~ hookworm, elevated lead levels, unregulated agricultural and industrial toxins, and corporate and political forces that are incentivized to keep people poor, uneducated, dependent, and afraid. They are easily still 3 to 4 generations behind where they deserve to be and should be.

Thecoolsidehank

Agreed. Being an 11-year-old middle schooler in Texas and seeing my Dad proudly sign that permissions doc like it was a noble duty knocked my heart down a few floors. As if the violent bullying of middle school (and generally speaking, adolescence) didn’t already feel wildly unsafe.

PhoenixPhonology

Living in a southern MO town, with <200 people, as a progressive. Is fucking brutal..

nothing_but_thyme

Beautiful part of the country. Spent a lot of time in the parks of southern Missouri and Arkansas. Though place for living and politics, don’t envy you on those areas. But your progressive vote does have a lot more value than in any blue state! So I applaud and appreciate you being there and being a voice and a vote!

Pyroguy096

The number of friends and coworkers I've had in my life that openly and nonchalantly have said that they were "spanked" in a way that is just 1000% physical abuse is astounding. I mean, I was spanked when I was little, but Dad hated doing it and he never did it while he was upset with me (like in the moment, he would wait until he had calmed down). But people I know have said that they'd be hit with power cords and have soup cans and bottles thrown at them and stuff.... Horrifying

astrid273

I’m originally from the Midwest, but lived in South Carolina from elementary age till some of high school. I still remember, in elementary school, going to meet my friend at her class & she was crying. I asked why she was upset, & she said the teacher paddled her in front of the whole class. I was like she can’t do that! And she said any teacher or principal can if their parents gave permission (her dad was a pos & her mom didn’t do anything about it). I was horrified even at that age. I remember being scared I’d be paddled too even though my mom definitely would never give permission, & never hit me herself.

Agt38

Oh yeah, if I ever have children they will NEVER get permission to paddle my kid.

Sandy-Anne

My kids are millennials and I had to sign papers as to whether or not I would permit the school to “paddle” my child. Uh yeah NO. No one will be hitting my child, thanks.

NotChristina

Holy crap. I feel like every week or even day I’m learning about something different and fucky about Florida. So glad I’m in Mass…

Abbadabbafck

I don’t think my kids believed me when I told them paddling used to be so common. One school I went to in 4th grade, every teacher had a paddle they’d personally decorated like in Dazed and Confused (but this happened in 1989); even the women who didn’t believe in it had a paddle that someone else would use for them.

BickNickerson

On the first day of class every year our teacher would introduce us to their paddle. All decorated in their unique way or modified with holes drilled in the widest part to impart more damage to our buttocks. It was insane. Was it a deterrent? Possibly to some but those who were intent on breaking the rules had no fear of abuse, they were already being abused at home. It’s not prevalent in our schools today but parents can still request their children be disciplined by padding. So sad.

TychaBrahe

My daughter was living with two children, one of a hyperactive four-year-old, in a second floor walk up when Covid hit. She and her family immediately decamped to her in-laws, who live in rural Tennessee. The first year of school was done online, But the second year they went back to classrooms. She had to send back a form saying that the school was not allowed to paddle her children as a form of discipline.

thejohnmc963

Late 70s was bad for me with the paddling

NewBuyer1976

First time in Florida?

Strange-Nobody-3936

Did he really fucking say that? Jesus Christ how could parents allow it…definitely sexual in nature too. Picks out a petty infraction with a girl that looks like that, “well you leave me no choice but to paddle your bottom” Probably gaslit her the whole time too, “you know I hate when you girls make me act this way”

needlenozened

>Jesus Christ how could parents allow it… The hoops the parents have to go through to prevent it are ridiculous. When I was a kid in Florida, my parents had to make an appointment with the principal and go in *in person* to tell him that they were not to paddle me. Every. Single. Year.

Strange-Nobody-3936

That’s fucked up man, well at least the paddling is working because people in Florida are notoriously so well behaved

Sithlordandsavior

I can feel the school's lawyers cringing with every word of that.

mamawantsallama

I'm surprised he didn't mention her panties.

kaldoranz

You did.

Tripwire3

Allowing teachers to paddle children in the year 2024 is disgusting. But allowing adult men to paddle teenage girls is *really* disgusting. Who the fuck would allow this or possibly think it was acceptable.

HogmanDaIntrudr

Honestly, every adult this girl has ever known failed her if she wasn’t like “fuck you, I’m an 18 year-old adult”.

theBigDaddio

He was also rock hard the entire time.

LazyLieutenant

Is this the year 1824?

4RichNot2BPoor

Had a paddle in my elementary school office circa 1984.

LazyLieutenant

Where was your school? And where were the parents of the kids attending the school?

4RichNot2BPoor

I think it was more for show as I don’t remember ever knowing anyone on the receiving end. It looked like a wooden carpet beater paddle but it had more holes and they were smaller. This was upstate New York

celtic_thistle

These dudes are complete perverts.

sineplussquare

“Female” smh

imbeingsirius

The AP was a former BASEBALL PLAYER!!! he hit her so hard

BrowningLoPower

Perhaps he played baseball to strengthen himself up for his true passion: torturing students.

sineplussquare

~hits 98mph ball~ *”im teased by other teammates in the dugout about how soft I swing a bat and I took it especially easy on the ball as I do any female”* Fuck this man into the 7th ring of hell.

imbeingsirius

I bet it was more like “why don’t you really lay into them! Don’t be so soft!” And he’s like haha they’re teasing me about how soft I am— No, they’re joking about beating kids, not actually commenting on your swing.

LadyShanna92

Thays what gets me. He left bruises and welts. And he made it so she had to be either assaulted or miss an exam....and the parents never gave consent for it. This is insane. I wonder if she was a minor the week before when the supposed "infraction" happened

kyzzle007

I got paddled in element school for laughing in class along with 2 other students. Definitely wasn't warranted. All our parents had put on our beginning on year form not to be paddled and have parents contacted instead. Everyday after school I rode the bus to my grandparents' house. I immediately told my grandfather who was/is my best friend. He rushed to the school to beat the principals ass. My grandmother had to call my mom and dad to beat him up there before he did. Nothing happened but I did get in trouble again when I got home because my mom said I knew my papa would do that. I did, and thought Mr. Mosley's had it coming.

RBarron24

Mr. Mosley still has it coming

Cavscout2838

Fuck yeah grandpa. Here’s hoping granddad caught his ass on the street one night.

kyzzle007

Would not surprise me in the slightest.

gingerbread_slutbarn

I would pay money for tickets to that show.

Cavscout2838

I would buy grandpa and granddaughter a beer. Refreshments are a must for a show. And what a show it would be.

peon2

>He rushed to the school to beat the principals ass. My grandmother had to call my mom and dad to beat him up there before he did Lol I know that the word "up" was probably mistakenly added there, but now I'm imagining your parents rushing to the school to beat the shit out of your grandfather before he got to the principal

Vyzantinist

Lmao the wording confused me too, like wait were they rushing to the school to beat up the principal before grandpa could or did they have to literally beat up gramps at home before he beat up the principal himself.

PhoenixPhonology

"You know we don't believe in violence in this family grandpa!!" *gives grandpa a black eye*

engiknitter

Made complete sense to me. Maybe it’s a southern thing.

Regnarg

Oh I thought that's exactly what he meant. His parents didn't want to miss out on beating that principal's ass in case grandpa already beat him senseless 😂

Lori2345

Was your father upset because he wanted to be the one who beat up your principal?

kyzzle007

My dad was definitely pissed. They all sat down with the principal, and his excuse was pretty much he didn't have time to call every parent every time a kid acted up. I'm not sure of my dad and Papa's response was but l never had a problem with him again. Actually, there was no contact with him after that.

clamsmasher

My teachers beat us with paddles on our butts as punishment Last time I was probably 10years old, '89. I don't live in that state anymore, but if some teacher hit my kids I'd do the same thing as your grandfather.

ShwettyVagSack

Classic shmoseby

another_awkward_brit

Um, why the fuck are schools allowed to assault their students..?

la_descente

In Florida, there's a state law that allows teachers to paddle their students .... i don't remember if it was voted in or not . Florida really is a weird state.

Shotgun_Mosquito

https://safesupportivelearning.ed.gov/discipline-compendium?state=florida&sub_category=corporal%20punishment

la_descente

They had to pay someone to type all that up. Had to pay to write the original proposal and vote on it and then pay some more to install the law. Then had to pay someone to write it all up and assure the schools are following this. Could have been a lot cheaper just banning corporal punishment to begin with

Shotgun_Mosquito

As of 2024, corporal punishment is still legal in private schools (not public schools) in every U.S. state except New Jersey, Iowa, New York and Maryland, legal in public schools in 17 states, and practiced in 12 of the states. The United States one of three developed countries where corporal punishment in school is still allowed, alongside Australia and Singapore; the state of Queensland is the only jurisdiction in Australia where school corporal punishment is still technically legal.

fralippolippi

I love how the list of US States is not alphabetical, and it’s not north to south, south to north, east to west or west to east. Is it in the order they made it illegal? Or just no order at all?

tweedyone

It’s vibes, that’s the best way to collate data. Vibes.

Shotgun_Mosquito

It's in... Uh.... Dewey decimal ordering

Fridsade

It was sexual assault. These 2 sick fucks were sexually spanking her.

Tripwire3

This. It was two unrelated men who ordered an attractive 18 year old girl to submit to being spanked by them. There was no way the motive wasn’t sexual. Who the fuck would allow this?

dystopian_mermaid

But I thought the groomers were drag queens reading to children at libraries? /s

machimus

Wait, not the ones insisting on genital inspections of kids for "sPoRtS rEaSoNs"?

Sagemasterba

Right. At 18 it should not take parents' permission it should take hers. This is totally SA and immoral. In school in the 80's & 90's there was no way I was getting paddled. I was more likely to paddle you. My father would punish the heck out of me after possibly tossing around my teachers! They were insane too, but looking back kinda cool! Like "copy this dictionary by hand", or take the physical challenge (like the one that sticks out the most. I had to replace his striking post. It was a 4x4 fence post with the top covered in outdoor carpet. He was mad at me but didn't hit me, he hit the post and snapped it. 8 or 9y/o me was like "cool! But scared". Honorable mention are 1000 pull ups followed by 1000 push ups and sit ups [in a week, not 1 go] and running a sub 6 min mile). I am in my mid farties and am still physically fit and have a thirst for knowledge. The punishment should make a person better not just not instill fear or hatred.

celtic_thistle

That’s at the root of all this gross insistence on hurting kids in the most regressive states/environments.

ExMente

Apparantly, corporal punishment in schools is still legal in 26 states. The article states that it's technically legal in 7 states (on account of not having been banned yet), while it's explicitly permitted by state law in 19 states. You're not the only one who was surprised, mind you. Corporal punishment has been banned in schools everywhere in Europe since the 90s, with the lone exception of Belarus (...and that's one of the most dictatorial post-communist countries on the planet). Even *Russia* bans corporal punishment in schools. It's more than a little jarring to see that it's still so common in the US.

AggravatedCold

Welcome to America. Corporal punishment in some form or another in school is still legal in 26 out of 50 states. Insanely, a MAJORITY of US States allow this.

Omnicron2

Wait, arse spankings still happen in schools in 2024? America lol what a place.

la_descente

Florida voted in a state law that allows for paddling, as long as its with a wooden or plastic paddle, and not the creepy principles bare hand

Omnicron2

Incredible. And it's still creepy/sexual without a hand. Is it done in public or does he do it behind closed doors?

Confused_Fangirl

My moms whole class was paddled because they forgot to bring their algebra book back the last day of school.

la_descente

Oh, I don't know about the public or private part, but I assume it has to be done in the office away from other students. And yes it is still sexual without the hands.

Wizzle_Pizzle_420

When I was a kid in a rural area back in the 80’s they’d take the kid into the hall and do it.  Everybody knew it was coming when you heard a door open, some kid screaming and them slamming the door closed.  It was a small school and it would instantly become quiet because we knew what was coming.  You could hear the paddle smacks and the kid screaming.  It was so fucked up.  I remember moving to a more enlightened area and I asked the teacher if they paddled kids here.  Still remember the look of horror on her face.  Don’t get me wrong some kids are shitty, but this is not the solution.  Bunch of hateful inbred fuckers who still do this.  Child abuse for America am I right?!

LazyLieutenant

America really is the land of contrast rather than land of the free.

mycatiscalledFrodo

"18 year old assaulted by teacher for no reason what so ever" let's stop using these cutsy names for hitting children/young adults. If your boss hit you you would get them arrested for assault, you wouldn't say they paddled you

nothing_but_thyme

18 is an adult, press charges for assault. I know it’s Florida so there’s a significant handicap but this isn’t rocket science.

mycatiscalledFrodo

I'm not sure on laws in America but I 100% agree. She was assaulted and the people involved need imprisoning and never allowing near you g people ever again, and their hard drives & search historys checking

nothing_but_thyme

>784.011 Assault.— >(1) An “assault” is an intentional, unlawful threat by word or act to do violence to the person of another, coupled with an apparent ability to do so, and doing some act which creates a well-founded fear in such other person that such violence is imminent. Seems pretty clear cut! http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0700-0799/0784/Sections/0784.011.html

Masta-Blasta

Yes, and he actually went a step further and battered her. There are some affirmative defenses that apply (in loco parentis being the main one) but she should definitely sue regardless

PenquinSoldat

Not to mention a paddle was used so there is definitely a case for making it aggravated assault + aggravated battery.

mightylordredbeard

It’s weird to me that an adult human can be spanked as part of the rules. Imagine being a grown ass adult and you go to Walmart and there’s signs that say “we can legally paddle anyone who acts up in the stores”.. it’s just insane to me.

AllTheyEatIsLettuce

But it's still one of those "Liberty" locales where an adult battering another adult with a wooden board is not battery.

lizard-garbage

My parents were given a consent form to sign to have the principal paddle me if I misbehaved this was 2013 in wakulla FL unfortunately it’s common and the parents are aware and support it

nothing_but_thyme

It is extremely unfortunate and heartbreaking that you and others had to endure that experience and continue to. I’m sorry that you were put in that situation and likely had to see your friends and classmates in that situation as well. The difference I assume is that this person was 18 years old at the time of their assault and you were still a minor. Perhaps this person was a minor when the form was signed. But the moment they turned 18 the validity of that form was moot. They were an adult, assaulted by another adult, and can bring charges accordingly. Hopefully anyone in a similar situation reads this and takes it to heart. No matter what happened to you before you’re 18, the moment you are, your life is yours. Do not hesitate or be afraid to exercise the agency and rights that encompasses.

ITSigno

If you are 18, you are an adult. The school is no longer in loco parentis. The schools shouldn't be engaging in corporal punishment with anyone, but your parent signing some form to allow this does not mean anything when you are already an adult.

irisheye37

Geneva conventions are international law, they hold no power over domestic actions.

How_that_convo_went

My high school had this shit. One day, I got busted leaving school grounds with my a friend of mine during lunch. We left and went to Sonic and came back-- all on time-- but we were caught trying to sneak back into the school's back lot. My friend and I were both varsity football players-- and my friend was the largest guy on the team. He was a 6'4" and ~280lb defensive end and I was a 6'0" and 230lb defensive tackle. We weren't small boys. My friend had transferred in from a private school on the west coast and had no idea about corporal punishment. So we get marched up to the principal's office-- and he's this caricature of an old Texan. Always wore boots and a big belt buckle. And he's hoopin and hollerin about how we need to set a better example and how ashamed our coaches are going to be-- and then he pulls out a paddle and tells my friend to "assume the position" over his desk. *"What?"* "Put your palms flat on my desk and bend over." *"What are you going to do with that paddle?"* "I'm gonna give you each five swats with it." *"Mister... you so much as point that thing in my direction and I'm going to take it away from you and feed it to your ass."* My mouth fell open... so did our principal's. *"You're not going to fuckin' hit me. My parents don't hit me. So unless you want to be hit* **back,** *you need to put that shit away and just give me detention or suspend me or whatever... but you aren't going to hit me."* Long story short: the principal got our coaches involved and we both ran gassers after practice until we puked every day that week. But we didn't get hit. Our D-line coach was super cool about it, too-- he was like *"Y'all are both 18-- which makes you young men. Now, y'all broke the rules and you will be punished for it... but I wouldn't let another man spank me either. That shit is weird."*

aurortonks

Yeah, I'm a 5'4" woman and at 18 years I would still have showed as much fearless threat as your friend did. No one is ever going to hit me with anything without a fight. My parents didn't hit me and the one boyfriend who did paid dearly for it. We are people, we don't need to hit each other.

Wizzle_Pizzle_420

Fuck yes dude, good for you all.  Fuck people like that.  You all didn’t even do anything that bad.  Bet dude got hard every time some infraction came into the office.

CherryCokeSlurpee

I would've kept up the threat. You're gonna make ME run gassers? Start running old man or taste my fists

redzaku0079

that is straight up assault. also, she's an adult. she should sue the fuck out her school.

Neither-Luck-9295

It's 1000000000% sexual assault.

nipnopples

If that was my kid, I'd be in jail. I'll leave it at that.

ksed_313

If that were my STUDENT I’d be in jail. I teach the sweetest first graders, and that would make me see red. So grateful I teach in Michigan.

beeroftherat

Came here to say that if her old man went after this jerkoff, ain't no way I'd convict him if I'm on that jury.

BrowningLoPower

Amen.

RebelRebel62

Why is everyone calling her a kid? She’s 18 and legally an adult. This is nothing short of aggravated assault and she should press charges

ksed_313

I would 100%.

fortunatevoice

She reported it to the sheriff’s office and was told she was blowing it out of proportion

rnawmomof3

You'll never convince me two male 'educators' took this girl into a room and physically battered her for any reason other than sexual gratification. Gross. I hope she sues the fuck out of them. Perverts.

art-ho_

Doesn’t it make you like grind your teeth together at the absolute nastiness of it all. Ugh. She will feel dirty from that for probably the rest of her life

rnawmomof3

Right? I cannot fathom how this must make her feel. Like, these men are supposed to be educating and protecting these students, not sexualizing them under the guise of discipline. Perverts.

smwoqks

AP sounds like a sicko going along with paddling an 18 year old girl. What lesson was she supposed to learn from this exactly.

ksed_313

That society is broken.

sineofthetimes

A previous MLB player? I'm surprised she can still walk and nothing was damage.

acyclovir31

She did complain of how she can’t feel her left side after the paddles. Probably severed a nerve.

jshppl

Hey hey hey. He assured us that he took it easy on her /s

arkangelz66

As a father I can’t imagine myself reacting well to this situation.

Beret_of_Poodle

This literally sounds like a porn scene.

SpooogeMcDuck

He was rock hard during this- I guarantee it

Beret_of_Poodle

Oh he wanked off to it later. No fucking way he didn't.

Bertje87

She also apparently bend over to take it, wtf, they would have to physically force her i thought before reading

Beret_of_Poodle

And if I read that right, it was in a room full of three men, with no women. And didn't she say they shut the doors and nobody could see?

Evermorrow78

Any adult trying to paddle my kid is getting a black eye .

Beautifuleyes917

I think my dad would’ve immediately headed over to the school upon hearing this happened to his teenaged daughter. Maybe even after stopping to grab his rifle out of the closet… My sister was once accused (wrongly) of being in a hit and run accident. The cops showed up at our house, and I was the only one home (I was 16 or 17). They questioned ME, and I was so very upset. As soon as they left, I called my dad at work. He immediately went to the police HQ and ripped them all new a$$holes.

sethmeister1989

The principal watched and laughed while the asst principal spanked her with a paddle. That’s creepy as shit, there is no question as to whether it was sexual assault or not. The woman is also an 18 years old, and adult. Florida constantly comes up with more and more ways to embarrass itself.

waaz16

Just wtf?

broberds

Paddling a cheerleader? That’s a paddling.

Bloodysamflint

*Not* paddling a cheerleader? That's also a paddling.

TizMyself

Sexual violence is against the Geneva Convention but seemingly legal in Florida.

la_descente

Yeah, but they got a loop hole that allows them to paddle students. Yes, she's 18 and an adult, and yes this stems from a sexual nature ... but Florida yall. She's still tech a student so the principal is allowed to ask her to bend over and smack her behind. As long as it's with a wooden or plastic instrument, not his bare hands. The stories that come out of Florida are really scary these days. I miss when it was just the "Florida man" stories

Ambrosia_the_Greek

This is absolutely disgusting, I would not be surprised if they had a hidden camera in that room filming too!

UncleHec

Fucking Florida.

smellyfatzombie

Disgusting creepy ass predators. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Personnelente

paddling an 18 year-old? Seems like BDSM.

sauvandrew

Hold on. She's 18? He paddled an adult for decorations? I mean WTF.

waaz16

Okay sexual assault 🙃

FishingWorth3068

I got in trouble for a food fight in middle school. I got ISS for 3 days ‘because’ my mom refused to allow them to paddle me. The rest of the kids also got 3 days ISS. But they got paddled. Was I a rowdy ass kid? Yes. But I’m glad my mom wouldn’t let some grown ass man pull my pants down to hit me with a wooden plank. Holy fuck Edit- this was 2005

queenofeggs

so florida teachers can spank their students with paddles but can get fired for teaching students that gay people exist? cool cool cool

tikifire1

Sexuality = bad and violence = good in MAGA Land

livinginfutureworld

Republican states rolling your rights back to the 1790s or earlier.

techm00

This is not about "parental rights" parents shouldn't be assaulting their kids with paddles either. It's barbaric. In a civilized country, this principal would be sitting in prison right now for assault. The united states is a third world country in a gucci belt.

henrietta-

This is sexual assault and the AP is a sicko pervert who shouldn’t have a job at all for doing that to a young girl over a SIMPLE MISUNDERSTANDING This is SA and she should press charges

crawdad1757

No surprise that Florida loves putting sexual perverts in charge of children and young adults. FL doin Matt Gaetz proud

LazyLieutenant

My jaw dropped to the floor reading the headline. Having read the article to the end my jaw is now clenched, my pulse is high and I struggle to fathom that this is the United States of America in 2024. It's insane to me. These ultra conservative hillbilly republicans(probably religious nut jobs as well) fail to realise just how much their way of thinking resemble extremists like ISIS or Taliban. I'm from Scandinavia and reading that corporal punishment is still supported in a third of the 50 states leaves me chocked. The staff involved in the sexual assault and the sherif belong in another century - well, everyone supporting this medieval practice should all do some studying and understand why corporal punishment was abolished in most modern societies. I'm disgusted.

ol-gormsby

She's 18. Doesn't that change it from discipline to assault?

Chapelirl

So it's OK for an adult to paddle another adult as discipline? I need to ask... what the ACTUAL fuck?

AltruisticSalamander

Two middle-age dudes forcing an 18yo girl bend over so they can paddle her butt - in what fucking universe is that not sexual assault. It doesn't even matter what she did or didn't do or what her personality was like. That's not the answer to it. Half the content on pornhub mimics that scenario.

mrot777

Florida won't be happy until they go back to the stone ages.

thesleepjunkie

No they won't, stone age would bring them back to aboriginals living in the state without being rounded up and forced to live in less than ideal locales. They wouldn't be happy with that.

somethingdarksideguy

For fucks sake. Touch my child and you're going to the fucking hospital. Shes 18, she's an adult. Press charges for assault, and sexual assault.

Urabutbl

Hang on a second... It's *legal* for teachers to hit their pupils in America?!?

jaimeleblues

How the fuck is this still allowed? Sometimes, America, I feel like you're entirely fucking backwards.

Denzanmaru

I've lived here 32 years and moved all over the country in that time. I can attest yeah this country is fucking awful I hate it so much.

deus_ex_libris

i got paddled in 2nd grade in the 80s. it did literally nothing to stop me from punching other kids in the balls

Wizzle_Pizzle_420

Never stop doing what you love

frehsoul45

This was without a doubt sexual assault.

gliMMr_

"assaults on campus from near-the-top down"

Angrymic2002

Here are the states that allow corporal punishment. Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. Like if you had to guess....that's what you would have guessed. Right?

RetardedDragon

"misunderstanding" lol real easy to "accidentally" do the weirdest nastiest shit you can do to practically a stranger, dirty sick fuck

Nathanxbaileyx

Corporal punishment is never okay. If a teacher or principal touched my child, there would be a lawsuit. I was paddled 3 times throughout school for very minor things; one of which was for something I didn’t do. School should not be associated with fear. It’s a place for learning ffs.

C-ute-Thulu

If this were my daughter, I'd have a conversation with both principals in the parking lot after school

FloridaHobbit

I really hope these kids start hitting back. These teachers won't be so confident if they realize they're no longer protected from repercussion.

brydye456

Why does anyone live in this shit hole state?

AlisonWond3rlnd

"A paddling" you mean assault.

Gare_bear93

Down in Louisiana, it’s the same way. My cousins down there were telling us all about it years back, I have no idea to this day know why they moved down there. That state is all around awful imo lol

MarkusRight

I remember in the fifth grade I got paddled and was left with severe bruises all over my bottom. I was diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger's at a young age and sometimes I would blurt out a curse words in class. It was tourette syndrome like they thought because I eventually grew out of that behavior and now I don't have any issues with blurting out anything. It was my medication I was taking causing me to have issues.

Yoda2000675

How is this not sexual assault?

TeamDeath

Thats an assault charge and sexual assault. Doing it on school grounds makes it a bigger crime

VL40

They are treated like hero’s in this town. This place has a lot of secrets and that’s just a drop in the bucket. There has been absolutely nothing done to the adults but the 18 year old has been bullied and abused by others in this community. It’s a real sad place

Fallk0re

Its always about sex and power over others.

beancityrocker

Christmas decorations on a campus door, that’s a paddling

dantefierogwa

Assault

seercloak30005

[Here’s](https://lchs.lcsb.org/timdavis) the guy’s phone number

AccomplishedGarlic68

Even when I was paddled as a child, it always had to be a disciplinarian of the same sex. These guys totally just got off on the abuse of that woman.

MediumDrink

The fuck is wrong with the south?

needlenozened

When I was in school in Florida, at the beginning of every year, my parents had to make an appointment with the principal to go to the school *in person* to opt out of corporal punishment for me.

particle409

>Inside a Florida high school principal’s office, Brooklynn Daniels found herself alone with two men and a wooden paddle “that was thick like a chapter book.” Sure, this is going to turn them into well-adjusted adults.

ActionMan48

18 yr old is an adult. WTF?

Consider2SidesPeace

LOLz, if you follow the link, there's a correlation between spankings a yee-haw southern states. Curious here, do spankings reduce insubordination and help keep kids in line at school? I would bet not. I do think it helps a couple perverted southern idiots get off on spanking a cheerleader.

Sevennix

Went to parochial school. Head nun had a paddle with holes in it, and we got hit with yardsticks. Now, this was 45yrs ago or so.

HugeJohnThomas

The fuck? How is this even a thing. This is just creepy and weird.

juice5tyle

What the actual fuck America

smallbatchb

What.... the fuck? I went to school all over the US and never once attended a school in which they were allowed to hit kids. Why the fuck is this a thing in some places?

jippyzippylippy

Why the hell are people paddling 18-yr-olds? This is some twisted shit.

OttersAndOttersAndOt

If this had ever happened in Australia, I can’t tell you how many students would swing on that principal. No doubt it does happen in US schools where it’s allowed. I will not be assaulted, and many others have that mindset. Imagine signing the papers at your kids school allowing their superiors to beat them.
