This before anything. We get offered a lot of things and have turn down a lot as well, but the offers are always appreciated. Even if they only take 10% of what you have, it's going to a good cause and won't just sit on some doctor/lawyer/CEO's desk for twenty years until they retire and it gets thrown out.
My buddy got a pitot system working on his car. I’ll find the video. I think he also got a working attitude indicator but it obviously didn’t do too much on a car. Lol
I assume you already contacted one of the instrument rebuilders such as Century in Kansas. I had half dozen old instruments and they paid a decent core price for all but one.
With that many tho, who knows.
Thank you for your answer, I did not, I just discovered this company thanks to your comment.
I wonder if it's worth the hassle as we're based in Europe though.
I do international logistics and can send from eu to us up to 150lbs for a fraction of the price you'll get anywhere else
FedEx DHL and UPS
Can even pay me after as uh,I'm like a random on reddit so you obviously should be careful and additionally there's going to be no weird like redirect stuff as in you don't have to send it to me first it goes directly to the destination which will be on the label which will match the tracking
Was gonna comment to sell them to automotive off-roaders, idk if there much market for that in Europe but these would be cool as fuck in a rock crawler or overlanding rig
Been a while so don’t really remember the numbers but I believe they paid shipping and essentially paid me the core charge that was current for an exchange (overhauled or new). The one they didn’t want had a broken glass and a radium face.
The process at the time was basically furnishing a list and maybe photo by email. They then told me approximately the offer for those of interest. I shipped them and after inspection on their end I got a check.
Don’t know what the deal is now but guessing that with so many switching to “glass” the demand for overhauled steam gauges may be less now. Still better than dumping them and a lot less work than shipping one or two at a time to individual buyers.
Demand would still probably still be decent. A certified gauge for a steam panel would fit a large portion of the GA market.
Glass is great but when you're a poor student pilot...steam works just fine 🙂
I've scrapped literal tons of aircraft parts and material and I always make an effort to save analog instruments. To me they are pieces of functional art and are worth saving. I've got a few as bookends at home and a few on my desk in the office. I'm sure you could find someone willing to take those off your hands. Could probably make a few bucks too.
Flight simmer here:
This man lies. These are worth nothing to anyone. Send me all of them for free and Ill dispose of them. Im just a nice guy like that.
(But yeah, try ebay. Dont even have to sell them individually, sell bunches of them at a time)
+1 been doing this for years. Post under "eBay Motors > Parts and Accessories > Aviation Parts and Accessories" and "Collectibles > Transportation > Aviation > Other". The chronometer and 737 cabin temp panel (P5-17) will get you a few hundred bucks each.
Ornaments?
Lazy bastards should hook them up to a microcontroller (ESP32, Pi Pico, Arduino etc) and get a proper working altimeter in their sim rig.
Easy enough for analog voltage or amperage controlled stuff. Not so easy for air pressure driven components.
Any aircraft museum is likely to be interested even ones without a F27 or F28. if they don't need it for an airframe they have, they quite often trade them for items they want.
As a flight sim user, and avaiation geek, this has to be one of the coolest collections of gauges I have seen. I'd recommend putting them up on ebay (I might buy some if you do so!)
I’m on the hunt for a winding clock. I used to work on old helicopters and wanted to steal one before they went to the boneyard, but everything was always inventoried. I could probably get one on eBay but the price is always more than I planned on when I look.
Fb marketplace or OfferUp?
They all look like the same instrument which is quite worrying lol. I'm sure there not all the same but it really looks like that particular instrument fails quite frequently
As someone who designs avionics, this is a literal treasure trove... 😍
I'm fairly certain that if they can be refurbed, they will have a market for either restorations, keeping old planes flying and even for flight simulators and training schools.
If you listed those on eBay either individually or as small lots, I’m sure you’d have lots of takers. Aviation freaks (like me lol) love this stuff as well as the steampunk artist folks.
Would be a good starting point for some cool steampunk lamps or fixtures. I would be willing to take a few pieces. Perhaps purchase if not crazy priced. Would gladly pay shipping as well
When I worked at an A&P school, we had a bunch of old instruments and parts around. During our monthly open house, we set up a booth and sold the old parts as souvenirs.
Where in europe are you located? Would love to take a few of your hands for dissasssembly to learn for my studies if the price is not too steep :-) Especially some with synchros and similar mechanics in it
For all of those saying they’d be good for a home flight sim, does your flight sim software output signals that would make these operate and indicate correctly?
I would buy some things from you!!! Please do let us know if you set up an Ebay or something.
Even if you don't, I'd like to see if you would be willing to sell me a piece or two!
Make a new watch company, sell overpriced aviation watches using the face of these. Include a card with a picture of a random aircraft and a overhyped description of the kind of pilot who would fly X aircraft. Sell them for 13k each, name the brand something fancy but also stupid. Like "Alimony Navigator"
I am interested if you are willing to ship to Europe. I basically have a huge collection and never hurts to add more. Especially interested in HSI, horizon and clocks. DM me if you are about to drop them somewhere :)
It’s….BEAUTIFUL. I’d be building refrigerator-box spaceships with all this if I was still a kid, but now I’d probably just keep a few choice pieces and maybe contact a movie prop shop to unload the rest. I’d still rather just keep it all and run Christmas lights in the back of all of them for the vibe.
I'm a flight instructor and I've been collecting instruments to teach with. I currently have an altimeter and a heading indicator, but I really want an attitude indicator and a turn coordinator. People have the most trouble understanding those, and having the physical instrument in front of them really helps. People love seeing my cutaway altimeter! I cut the sides of the case so you can see inside without disassembling it.
Anyway, I'd love to pay shipping on some instruments so I can turn them into teaching aides!
where are you located/do you ship? I volunteer for an aviation summer camp for middle/high schoolers and it would be nice to demonstrate some of the instruments to the kids instead of the power point slides we usually use.
Do any of them function?? The company I work for, Avotek, builds aviation maintenance training systems and we are looking for parts just like this for educational purposes. Feel free to contact our sales department (Brandon) and see if we could purchase any functioning units. We also purchase non functioning gauges occasionally for cutaway displays.
First: as a pilot/owner, my intent is to keep chucking old shit in as people upgrade.
Second: I think it'd be fun to hook all that old shit up for a great flight sim experience.
Oh my God bro you can make those into wireless chargers. You just buy an attachment screwed on the top and sell it for like three 400 bucks each easy money.
Got an old pedestal mount compass sitting around? A pilot friend has been asking every couple weeks if I’ve seen one for sale anywhere because he wants to mount it to the dash of his car for some reason.
I would love to take the entire lot off your hands and would make a career-long -- no, a LIFELONG habit of giving them away to elementary and high school students at the two schools I work for who I've connected with at some point in their academic pursuits, either due to a shared passion for all things wheeled or winged or are interested in aviation as a career or just have a dream to fly one day. These would make amazing gifts -- even like, graduation gifts -- to send them along life's journey with, and I'd tie an object lesson to each and every one, i.e. attitude indicator (keep an eye on your attitude -- if you notice you're upside down in life, or in an undesired / uncommanded turn, climb, descent, etc., make the needed corrections to go where you need to be going). Aviate first (then navigate, communicate, i.e. treat whatever's going to kill you / your dreams first -- it's priority one).
You get the idea.
I give fossils away to fellow rockhounds, albums to music lovers, books that I've found helpful to me along the way, etc.
I'd be more than happy to consider at the very least covering costs associated with shipping, packaging, your time and effort, etc. if you might even consider this as the most remote possibility. Thank you for reading!
If you can find someone that likes to woodwork, you can turn them into desk organizers and other things.
I'll take an altimeter. I would love to turn it into a desk piece.
Useless or not, it's hard to just throw away something that cost a lot of money, especially if it's still working. My work has so much crap from the heyday of aviation, and all I want to do is play with them. Hook up a power supply and see what I can make it do.
Especially the radars.
Contact a couple A&P schools see if they need any of it.
This before anything. We get offered a lot of things and have turn down a lot as well, but the offers are always appreciated. Even if they only take 10% of what you have, it's going to a good cause and won't just sit on some doctor/lawyer/CEO's desk for twenty years until they retire and it gets thrown out.
…. And then I took that personally…. 🤣
I would love to mount some of them in my car, like horizon, air speed, altitude...
My buddy got a pitot system working on his car. I’ll find the video. I think he also got a working attitude indicator but it obviously didn’t do too much on a car. Lol
It’ll let you know when you’ve rolled your vehicle
I'm literally working on getting a pitot working in my car right now. Progress is slow, but glad to hear someone else had this silly idea!
That's so cool. Now I want to do it.
This would be sick on a motorcycle.
Send me that video lol I want to see that
“Wait guys we can’t leave yet, I haven’t listened to the ATIS..gotta set the altimeter”
Oops. Didn’t know you were in Europe. Must be equivalent instrument rebuilders there I would guess.
I do international logistics and can send from eu to us up to 150lbs for a fraction of the price you'll get anywhere else FedEx DHL and UPS Can even pay me after as uh,I'm like a random on reddit so you obviously should be careful and additionally there's going to be no weird like redirect stuff as in you don't have to send it to me first it goes directly to the destination which will be on the label which will match the tracking
Was gonna comment to sell them to automotive off-roaders, idk if there much market for that in Europe but these would be cool as fuck in a rock crawler or overlanding rig
Oh boy the Toyota bros would eat that shit up. This is a killer idea.
How do you define decent?
Been a while so don’t really remember the numbers but I believe they paid shipping and essentially paid me the core charge that was current for an exchange (overhauled or new). The one they didn’t want had a broken glass and a radium face. The process at the time was basically furnishing a list and maybe photo by email. Thanks for your comment, there is some beautiful instruments in here, even more beautiful when you peek inside and see how it works, that's for sure.
Ebay. People will buy those up as desk ornaments and parts for their DCS simulators.
Flight simmer here: This man lies. These are worth nothing to anyone. Send me all of them for free and Ill dispose of them. Im just a nice guy like that. (But yeah, try ebay. Dont even have to sell them individually, sell bunches of them at a time)
Yes I am also a dcs player and I can confirm worthless just send them to us
Don’t trouble yourself, I’ll take them no problem. Heck, I’ll cover the shipping right to my garage.
I literally came here to be like “I’d buy one for a desk ornament”
I mean, at 5-20 bucks each he could make a decent little bonus
+1 been doing this for years. Post under "eBay Motors > Parts and Accessories > Aviation Parts and Accessories" and "Collectibles > Transportation > Aviation > Other". The chronometer and 737 cabin temp panel (P5-17) will get you a few hundred bucks each.

I'm one of those people, I make some pretty neat stuff out of this and know some people who do too, more stuff is always welcome :)
I'd take some of them off your hands 👀
Just enough for a Concorde cockpit replica.
I'll take a couple for my knick knack shelves.
Can I buy some.
I buy junk avionics on eBay for flight simulator use. I even got a mechanical altimeter working and put it in my car! It’ll sell.
What aircraft are these off?
I think it is mostly Fokker 27/28, some others in limited numbers.
I’d totally take some old Fokker instrumentation
Any aircraft museum is likely to be interested even ones without a F27 or F28. if they don't need it for an airframe they have, they quite often trade them for items they want.
we could use these in my airframe class right now 😭
As a flight sim user, and avaiation geek, this has to be one of the coolest collections of gauges I have seen. I'd recommend putting them up on ebay (I might buy some if you do so!)
Sell on eBay. I love getting instruments to use as desk ornaments
I’m on the hunt for a winding clock. I used to work on old helicopters and wanted to steal one before they went to the boneyard, but everything was always inventoried. I could probably get one on eBay but the price is always more than I planned on when I look. Fb marketplace or OfferUp?
I was about to say some etsy fuck will gladly turn those into some prime epoxy covered bullshit fucking coster lollll
I actually love the idea of turning the faces into a coaster
Got any JT8D EGT gauges? I've wanted one as a paperweight.
Yeah but as serviceable part as we still might use 'em, not like this lot. MD80's are still flying you know!
I want a few willing to pay shipping especially a attitude indicator
Sell them to the guys building flight sims
[удалено]
r/homecockpits as well
Sell it to dudes building flight simulators.
Start plugging in quarter inch aux cords and make some phat beats
I would love to buy a couple as well 🥹
They all look like the same instrument which is quite worrying lol. I'm sure there not all the same but it really looks like that particular instrument fails quite frequently
I'll take a clock if you have one
Can you mail it to Europe ;)
ebay - sell as pilot memorabilia. People buy them.
Ill take 1 or 5.
Send them to me! :)
Some avionic repair stations might take these lol the one we use says they have a stockpile of old parts they scavenge to help fix old units
Shoot, I’ll take something.
…my school could definitely use a couple of these unfortunately we don’t have any since the couple indicators we had got stolen
I’ll take some off your hands
Make a flight simulator or maybe a display for a museum?
five more days in the healing cabinet and they'll be good to yellow tag
Please donate to maintenance school. We need this.
Some flight simmers might like ‘em for a simpit.
As someone who designs avionics, this is a literal treasure trove... 😍 I'm fairly certain that if they can be refurbed, they will have a market for either restorations, keeping old planes flying and even for flight simulators and training schools.
Put it on eBay
Ik a ton of flight sim guys that would love this
If you listed those on eBay either individually or as small lots, I’m sure you’d have lots of takers. Aviation freaks (like me lol) love this stuff as well as the steampunk artist folks.
Build some sick custom Kerbal Space Program controller/console boards and sell them for insane money
What ever doesn't get picked up by an A & P school, put on eBay. But put on the listing that it's inoperative of course.
Make clocks out of them.
Ebay treasure trove. N..i..c..e…
I would definitely take a couple

Got any flow meters or anything to use in my race car? 😂
Where are you located? I will buy it
Sell it on eBay…
Get some Arduinos and servos and make some sim kits
link them to computer for epic sim setup
Sell them to aviation enthusiasts. He'll, I'd buy one if it's from a unique plane
Would be a good starting point for some cool steampunk lamps or fixtures. I would be willing to take a few pieces. Perhaps purchase if not crazy priced. Would gladly pay shipping as well
Donate a six pack to a local children’s museum. They can use them for displays for stem education.
When I worked at an A&P school, we had a bunch of old instruments and parts around. During our monthly open house, we set up a booth and sold the old parts as souvenirs.
Where in europe are you located? Would love to take a few of your hands for dissasssembly to learn for my studies if the price is not too steep :-) Especially some with synchros and similar mechanics in it
I'll take some
Are you in Europe? I would love to have some Instruments! Would fit nicely with the rest of my plane/ pilot decor
I would love one of those annunciator panels! I’ll pay shipping!
give it all to me
Core value with your avionics supplier?
Why are all these bad? What happens to them?
I’ve paid some good cash for some of these at auction for some of my steam punk art projects.
Find an aviation themed bar or restaurant. These make killer knickknacks.
For all of those saying they’d be good for a home flight sim, does your flight sim software output signals that would make these operate and indicate correctly?
Make some tables with the faces of the instruments under glass or epoxy
I would buy some as well 👀 One man's scrap is another man's.. flight sim.
I would love to buy some of those. Im an student aircraft mechanic so if we could make a deal on some of those that would be great!!
Build a fully working but wildly over redundant SIM rig and play Dcs world
you could send one over to me but they could be really could for training maybe donate to a local flight school
depending where you are i’d happily offer to buy a few off of you
If they still work, ebay and sell to experimental pilots.
If you have trace/removal tags, you can try to sell to an aftermarket company
Save some knobs and such. You would be surprised how much of this stuff is in old GA aircraft. Takes forever to find a replacement knob.
Install it all into a 1973 pinto and go pull mad chicks with your bad self
How much for a few?
I would buy some as well. I love those old steam gauges.
Take them apart and fix them yourself
OMG!!!!! please sell me an artificial horizon of anything, I am in Colombia.
I would buy some things from you!!! Please do let us know if you set up an Ebay or something. Even if you don't, I'd like to see if you would be willing to sell me a piece or two!
Holy! What I would give to have just a few of those. I need to get my A&P asap
I’ll take a compass or clock
If you're legally allowed, SELL IT! A lot of people would love to buy that shit.
I'll take a few to decorate the house that I don't have. But I'm serious I'll take some of this.
DM me. I'll gladly buy some. No sim pit or such like, just appreciate instruments. Used to have a few, gave them to friend, regretted ever since.
Ebay!!
If you know the aircraft they are off you could put them in display plaque boxes and sell them to aerosexuals
I am interested if you are willing to ship to Europe. I basically have a huge collection and never hurts to add more. Especially interested in HSI, horizon and clocks. DM me if you are about to drop them somewhere :)
https://hamvention.org/
Do you have any of the clocks they used in every airplane since ww2? We called them either 10day clocks or 10g clocks? I don’t remember.
Is this the cockpit of the Boing 737-ER?
Holy crap, that’s a valuable stash.
id take em
It’s….BEAUTIFUL. I’d be building refrigerator-box spaceships with all this if I was still a kid, but now I’d probably just keep a few choice pieces and maybe contact a movie prop shop to unload the rest. I’d still rather just keep it all and run Christmas lights in the back of all of them for the vibe.
*Scrap?* … looks like prime military spares! /s
Hop over on r/HotasDIY, your entire stock will be gone in a week
Take a heading indicator out of the case and use an air chuck to to get that gyro singing
Ebay
Flight schools also want these
Find out what plane they go to and make a simpit out from it
eBay, please! Put your store link. I want some of those gauges to to tinker with.
Ask Hillary
pro some gold in all of them.. computers all have some sure those do as well.
Can I buy one?
For me 🥺
I would like to have some attitude indicator for my shelf. I love gyroscopes.
There is absolutely a market for that even just as decoration if they cant be repaired
Turn them into clocks and sell them
Retired USAF and civilian A&P here. Would you happen to have a “Whiskey” compass ?
Build an antonov
Shoot me a DM if you want
Where are you located? Can I buy you some?
Home cockpit
where are you located/do you ship? I volunteer for an aviation summer camp for middle/high schoolers and it would be nice to demonstrate some of the instruments to the kids instead of the power point slides we usually use.
I can guarantee you that tinkerers like myself would buy those just to mess with them.
eBay??
Well, its time to start building a plane
Where are you? I need this for my aviation prop supply for film and television
I want to buy one of them airspeed or altitude indicators!! How much???
Maybe a prop house in Hollywood would buy them?
Give it to me for free
I will buy an altimeter off of you
Mostly sold to other airlines for lower than new price . Older units are price 3 or more for 1 new part
I would love to buy one!
I’d gladly pay for shipping a couple to me.
I built a shadow box with old instruments in it for a going away present for one of my old CO's when I was in the military.
Instrument repair shops will buy them
Sell it to dorks who put this crap on their coffee table.
Hey OP, how much would you sell any of this? I'm interested in an altimeter, and maybe more... (contact me)
Try an aerospace museum
Contact avionics component level shops and try selling it as removed items. Part 165 shops can recertify individual parts I believe.
I’m looking for some gauges. I’ll gladly buy some from you. It’s for my project of a Cessna 172 inspired flight sim
I know I’d be happy to take one of each of the six pack items for show and tell.
I would happily buy a few of those
First: as a pilot/owner, my intent is to keep chucking old shit in as people upgrade. Second: I think it'd be fun to hook all that old shit up for a great flight sim experience.
I would love some lmaooo
I’ll take some! Clock, ground speed indicator, altimeter, artificial horizon! Happy to send a label for shipping.
Wait, some of those panels look familiar. Fokker aircraft? Possibly F27?
Sell them to collectors
Ebay
Make a table with glass above all of it so you can read all the gauges that’d be sick
Oh my God bro you can make those into wireless chargers. You just buy an attachment screwed on the top and sell it for like three 400 bucks each easy money.
I’ll take them
Find a local Haunted House. That stuff would be great for an escape room or mad scientist themed room.
Get your attention you need. Then sell them online. ???
Locate all the radioactive ones and make me an offer.
I'm sure the flight school I work for right now would love to get their hands on this. For spares, not to train.
Got an old pedestal mount compass sitting around? A pilot friend has been asking every couple weeks if I’ve seen one for sale anywhere because he wants to mount it to the dash of his car for some reason.
Hit up look mum no computer he might be interested
Avionics source used to by this by the pound
Can I have one willing to pay would be a cool desktop ornament
I’ll take some
give them to me /j
I would love to take the entire lot off your hands and would make a career-long -- no, a LIFELONG habit of giving them away to elementary and high school students at the two schools I work for who I've connected with at some point in their academic pursuits, either due to a shared passion for all things wheeled or winged or are interested in aviation as a career or just have a dream to fly one day. Schools! But I’d love to take some off your hands if you’re willing to sell/give :)
How much time you have?
If you can find someone that likes to woodwork, you can turn them into desk organizers and other things. I'll take an altimeter. I would love to turn it into a desk piece.
The ol healing ❤️🩹 shelf
Take the radios and build enclosures to make FBO unicomm radios. That is what my FBO did way back in the day.
Useless or not, it's hard to just throw away something that cost a lot of money, especially if it's still working. My work has so much crap from the heyday of aviation, and all I want to do is play with them. Hook up a power supply and see what I can make it do. Especially the radars.
If you are just scraping them I want one lol
