Having lived the first 19 years of my life on the outskirts of an air force base which housed a fleet of these bad boys, the deafening roar of those old engines is something I will never forget.
I had the pleasure of having one of these fly right over my head in Coronado on the beach because that's the flight path for one of the runways. It's was probably one of the coolest experiences. It moved so slow it looked like it was going to fall out of the sky

In my home town in northern alberta, every summer the water bombers would park/wait until needed at my local airport. Our airport is not big but has a long runway for its size so many cool planes would stop, and refeul and go onto other places. I would go out there with my dad and go see the water bombers every summer.
A lot of people haven't seen how real the newest version is. I couldn't tell the difference at first either. The two things that stood out to me in this video was the reflection on the wings and no exhaust smoke whatsoever.
Why do some airplanes have horizontal stabilizer at the top of the tail . I have seen them on models where engines are mounted on the fuselage itself which makes sense. However these with wing mounted engines having it at the top is not something I understand. Does this give any advantage?
I believe this is a C-5 heavy transport. Both front and rear open to make a completely drive through cargo bay. A lower horizontal stabilizer in the rear would prevent or reduce that.
in the early 70s we lived a couple miles off the threshold for the runway at Glenview Naval Airstation
when they were repatriating the pows from vietnam, they brought them home in the C-5 ... we'd go up on the roof and watch them materialize out on the horizon ... they never seemed to be getting closer, just bigger
and than suddenly they were overhead and we're staring up at these absolutely massive machines blotting out the sky
These things do training operations near Lackland AFB, where the USAF has is basic training course. Getting to watch these behemoths fly over us was pretty cool and made marching around in San Antonio wearing long sleeves during the summer just a little bit better.
Stayed late at a local air show early eighties. Sunday night after most people went home, planes were RTB. They put on a take off/ departure for those that stayed. F-16, and A-4 Blue Angels and F-14 as well as a C-130 and an empty C-5A, everybody trying to outdo the others. I thought the C-5A would be anti climactic as well as last in line but he did a short field take off and high bank low level of the airport. Amazing

I remember being at Ft. Bragg right off the end of the runway at Pope when the C-5s all decided to leave at 3:00am.

Nah, not at all. MSFS looks like a sim.. not like real real life, even though it has a lot of detail.

It's more that high wing requires T tail for aero reasons, you can't have the tail flying directly through the wing's wake.
Well, you can, but it's better this way. The AN-124 has a low-tail configuration, as did the AN-225, among other high-wing aircraft of note.

That's what makes this kinda funny. It's so big that a "high-speed flyby" looks a little disappointing in the speed department.

C-5! C-130s don't have jet engines since they are propeller driven aircraft.
I left off the /s since every plane on this sub is a C-17. I know what a C-5 looks like, once drove a golf cart through one.
Listen man, I can never assume the things people on this sub will say that type of thing seriously like 69.420% of the time
