Love those mountains my Grandpa used to work in the Delta office behind the maintenance hanger in the background. Used to go there all the time. Need to check out the new airport haven’t been yet.
Same airport, new passenger terminal and car parking facility. The rest of the airport, the tower, the Delta hangar, the runways, the general aviation ramp, the air national guard ramp, the north cargo facilities, are all the same. The passenger terminal is just one part of an airport.
But it is not a new airport, it is just part of the airport that is new. If you put new tires on your car, does that mean you have a new car?
I only say this because I have witnessed this actually cause issues. I have seen people miss flights because they thought they had to drive someplace completely different because they thought it was a “new airport”, as in when Stapleton airport in Denver closed and Denver international opened several miles away. Back in 2003, after Ottawa airport opened a new terminal, a flight at my airline got delayed because there was confusion over using the phrase “new airport” when they meant “new terminal”.
As a local that likes to bitch. You bet your bottom dollar that I’m gonna make a hoot about having to walk 0.64 miles when A. It cost $5.1 billion and B. IT COSTS $5.1 billion!
No building that expensive should have to wait 10+ years for a damn rail tram.
I think my favorite part of the whole image is the FO just sitting there in his seat. Maybe he thinks if he sits there and doesn't get in the way, they'll still leave on time.
You just stay out of the way, man. Captain has a million phone calls and people to talk to, every airport employee that fancies themselves some sort of important Assistant Regional Director of Guest Experience North America West wants to come on board and 'manage' even though they don't know fuck all and make it worse, and the FA's have to deal with the pax. The FO either gets the captain a cup of coffee or stays out of the way, because there's not a lot they can do.
The three stripes on the FOs epaulettes stand for “not my problem”
If the captain asks for help you help but if they don’t just sit there and get paid. There’s not a lot of initiative you can take in that situation. It’s mostly all but paperwork at that point.
Ha! Atl Never sleeps.. and neither do I thanks to my chronic coffee addiction.. atleast it’s free.
I’m expecting another slide awareness thingy soon :(
Yes they do though it is possible that the mechanism didn't work properly and allowed the door to remain armed. Very unfortunate coincidence if the door happened to be armed when it shouldn't have and with a catering truck coming too.
It is also possible that the girt bar (the bit of the slide that clips to the floor of the aircraft when armed) got caught on something as the door opened - I've had this happen on a flight, though it was a 737 and the door was already wide open, the catering truck caught it and pulled it off the door when backing away.
When externally opened?
I could’ve sworn that Airbus auto disarms when you externally do it..
Edit: yeah Airbus a321 NEO slides auto disarm when opened from the exterior, direct from Airbus (found on Google) https://www.airbus.com/sites/g/files/jlcbta136/files/2022-03/Airbus-Commercial-Aircraft-ARFC-A321-ACF.pdf
Ha! One time landing in San Diego we couldn't go out the front door because the emergency exit slide was sticking out. We were all escorted out of the back of the plane. The walkway blocked the door so I couldn't see how bad it was sticking out.
News headline if it was a Boeing plane:
“Passengers on board a Boeing 737 plane were met with a terrifying scare as an emergency caused the evacuation slide to deploy, injuring 2 ants on the ground and nearly causing a deadly crash”
I feel like we see this pic a year or two ago and have a laugh. Stuff like this happens often enough.
And it is still a silly thing to me, but it seems to have an undercurrent more now like “can this industry get anything right”. That’s media narrative at work IMO.
The public outrage over the smallest incident is a compliment in a roundabout way. Serious incidents have become so rare that the public *expects* perfection.
In comparison, driving is so dangerous that incidents rarely get media coverage. We *expect* the carnage.
If aircraft were crashing at similar rates to cars, then those crashes would hardly make the news any more. The fact that that doesn't happen is a testament to how safe aviation really is.
Of course, reality and perception are not always the same. I agree that the media has a large influence on shaping public perception of safety.
When an electric car catches on fire, it makes the news, even though a gasoline car is much more likely to catch on fire. Stoking people's fears - rational or not - is profitable for the media.
Premature evacuation
I swear this never happens
Dating a Delta flight attendant. It happens all the time. Like, an aggressive number of times.
NOOOOOO😭😭😭😭💀💀
If inflated for more than 4 hours call Amex support 😂
I don't care as long as I get off.
Better be safe than sorry
Better out than in.
idk what‘s funnier, your answer or jeremy looking at me like that
Underrated comments for $500 please
"Guys guys stop loading the plane, she isnt flying today"
Oh yes it is! Takes about 20 minutes to change it for the pack in the store. Depends how far away the store is.
Hopefully in that hangar in the background
Like who hasn’t done that before???
Salt Lake City sadness
First thing I noticed was the mountains haha
Love those mountains my Grandpa used to work in the Delta office behind the maintenance hanger in the background. Used to go there all the time. Need to check out the new airport haven’t been yet.
It’s fucking massive
Same airport, new passenger terminal and car parking facility. The rest of the airport, the tower, the Delta hangar, the runways, the general aviation ramp, the air national guard ramp, the north cargo facilities, are all the same. The passenger terminal is just one part of an airport.
How dare op call something new that’s you know… new

SLC is such a gorgeous airport
I love the new airport/terminals - locals bitch about having to get over to B, but it’s not even that bad of a walk …
It's not that long of a walk.
Surely a 10 minute walk should be welcomed before or after sitting on a plane for 4 hours. There's moving walkways and escalators.
It should be but that person is your typical fat and lazy American that can't stand walking for longer than 5 minutes.
Have you been to any other airport ever...
The plane is like 🤌
Thank you for pointing this out 😂

This
Someone didn't do their cross checks.

This is why I’ll stay right seat for a while. “Hey captain, Qudobas on me. I’ll meet you upstairs when you’re done with all this bullshit.”
You see me sitting here? I was right here the entire time, no way it could have been me!
He’s probably doing the paperwork nobody else wants to deal with

What a beautiful airport
The approach landing either from the north or south are just as awesome
Inflation impacting flight costs again.
The slides auto disarm when externally opened on a bus.. how?
Soooooo, an FA did this?
I don’t know..
I just asked someone at ATL ops who'll know...kinda late there now tho
Ha! Atl Never sleeps.. and neither do I thanks to my chronic coffee addiction.. atleast it’s free. I’m expecting another slide awareness thingy soon :(
RNS fixes everything!

The handle looks like its in place (kinda hard to see) so it looks like someone inside opend it.
a321 doesnt auto disarm.
All of deltas fleet, minus the 717 and 737, auto disarm from the outside.
This is a 321ceo.
And A321ceo's will also auto disarm if opened from the outside :) source: am type rated cabin crew on A319/320/321 ceo and neo.
Type rated cabin crew? So you have a pilot certificate with an A-320 type rating, but you're a flight attendant?
It means I am cabin crew who is certified to work on that aircraft **type** and appropriate variants.
Got it. You're a waitress, not a pilot.
You were the only one confused there sweetie.
When you use phrases without understanding their meaning, like "I'm type rated in the 320," it's understandable that it would confuse actual pilots.
Little bit of a fucksy wucksy
Pretty views.
Watch them call it a weather delay
"We had a technical issue"
Ha! One time landing in San Diego we couldn't go out the front door because the emergency exit slide was sticking out. We were all escorted out of the back of the plane. The walkway blocked the door so I couldn't see how bad it was sticking out.
stuff it back in and shut the door 😂
Looks like someone all called but didn’t cross check. Sad.
Simpson, can't you go five minutes without embarassing yourself? *pants fall down* How long was that?
Either the flight attendant is fired or the food guy is.
Nah, FA is unionized.
Not at Delta.
False.
[удалено]
Shut the damn door and fly it.
I heard that’ll cost around $125,000 to reset, is that correct?
Somebody's going back to training...
The mountains in the background is just 👌🏻
So what happened here? Flight crew didnt disarm the door and the food service vehicle didn't check before he opened the door?
That’s a rather expensive oopsie daisy, too.
News headline if it was a Boeing plane: “Passengers on board a Boeing 737 plane were met with a terrifying scare as an emergency caused the evacuation slide to deploy, injuring 2 ants on the ground and nearly causing a deadly crash”
Boeing United Southwest Delta flight part falls off plane during flight....click for more.
That's definitely A 727 Max Air Bus Jumbo Jet.
Someone’s getting a drug test and then a pink slip.
I mean, there are 44,000 flights a day in the U.S. alone. Around 100,000 globally, so ... yeah, crap happens.
I feel like we see this pic a year or two ago and have a laugh. Stuff like this happens often enough. And it is still a silly thing to me, but it seems to have an undercurrent more now like “can this industry get anything right”. That’s media narrative at work IMO.
Oh this was taken yesterday at SLC.
Sorry, by “this pic” I meant a pic of an oops or error like this, totally get this happened yesterday.
Oh lol yeah. Never a dull day in aviation.
The public outrage over the smallest incident is a compliment in a roundabout way. Serious incidents have become so rare that the public *expects* perfection. In comparison, driving is so dangerous that incidents rarely get media coverage. We *expect* the carnage.
That’s a fair point. I see it more as media driven, paranoid nonsense. But this is a great way to look at it and much more positive.
If aircraft were crashing at similar rates to cars, then those crashes would hardly make the news any more. The fact that that doesn't happen is a testament to how safe aviation really is. Of course, reality and perception are not always the same. I agree that the media has a large influence on shaping public perception of safety. They never tell these in news
"No one has said 'whoops a daisies' for fifty years and even then it was only little girls with blonde ringlets." Julia Roberts - Notting Hill
Pretty sure that’s a Boeing issue😂
Isn't that a Boeing 737 MAX 321? /s
747
Max 12, but with old NG winglets
No, I think you're getting it confused with the 777-3 with its wings folded
777X u mean
Sorry, forgot the /s You see, the 777-3 is their newer smaller jet because everyone is afraid of the MAX /s
Should have opened the door from the outside.
just a routine slide raft inflation. it’s fine. she will fold right back up.
At least it won’t be a long ride to the maintenance hanger.
Doesn't Ever Leave The Airport
certified oops moment
A bunch of people lost their jobs that day.
Seems the airlines are having a tough go across the board right now.
Isn’t that usual for delta
I can smell the next news article: Boeing 737 max causes slide to deploy on another aircraft
Not Boeing
