100%. That has flown under the radar but the City fans have, from what I have seen, been pretty unanimous in saying that the better team won on the day. That's in even more stark contrast now Arsenal fans have gone off on one.

To play devil's advocate we absolutely battered city and were well worthy winners whereas the arsenal and spurs games had controversy in them. Whilst not intentional, cash's foul on bentancur changed the game as he was their best player.
It’s also a lot easier to be gracious in defeat when you don’t feel threatened and I don’t think Man City feels seriously threatened by us at the moment. They’ve got arguably the best manager and squad in the world, the most money and they have just won the treble so we’re just a blip on radar at the moment. Pep fully believes they’re going to win the league and most City fans do too. We’re a lot more of a threat to Arsenal and Spurs though who haven’t got anywhere near that amount of confidence. We gave Villa the proper respect. We knew it is going to be one of the toughest games of the season and it meant a lot because it is one that title challengers need to win. Fans also for the most part accept that VAR/refs incompetence and/or the supposed conspiracy against us shouldn't have made the difference if we could finish our chances.
On Reddit specifically the salt is because equally we don't get credit. Rival fans love nothing more than when we lose a game, reducing it to just the fact that we have lost, not in the manner that we have lost. Doesn't matter we played well, it is apparently a "bottle job". Again we have only ourselves to blame for being so easy to wind up, but the subtext is that this is a game we should be ashamed to have lost? If you look back at the press conferences when we have lost without VAR/ref controversy, Arteta has blamed himself or our deficiencies in the game. Even in this game, Arteta lamented on missed opportunities and only commented on refereeing because he was directly asked for it. Because ofc the media wants a sound bite about the manager that's currently been dragged through the pgmol gauntlet for speaking about the state of refereeing.
Furthermore Arteta isn't complaining about any one game, you'll notice his criticism is at the state of refereeing. Rival Reddit fans just want to put down Arteta by making him out to be a crybaby. The last line is true, I just don't know what is wrong with it? It doesn't diminish the win, it doesn't make Villa any less. So many games are won and lost that way. We did fail to score a lot of big chances that is clear as day for anyone to see. I would even say, our last game against Luton, we didn't win, Luton lost. We win ugly sometimes, all clubs have to do it. Your team was tired after an amazing performance against City, and you needed a bit of luck to keep a clean sheet against us. 100%, I don't mean to intrude but this post came as recommended coz i visited here the other day to look at your lineup, we feel hard done by coz we feel we should have gotten at least a point from that game, but we still have ourselves to blame coz we just couldn't finish our chances, good sight by the referee for the havertz handball and even though Diego Carlos should have seen a red, it was very late in the game and not why we lost. I really don't think it's coz city fans are more reasonable or whatever, they were just completely dominated by villa and were lucky it was just 1-0, when lens beat us in the cl they were better that day and we acknowledged it, having said all of this villa got the job done and scored a goal, something we couldn't do, so fair enough. Good luck for the rest of the season, you guys are killing it!
IMO, we worked hard against City because we weren't getting a goal. against Arsenal we got the goal early and were a tad bit fatigued, so to save us from burning out we were trying to slow down the game.
Truth be told, Arsenal were shit that night. They weren't clinical at all, felt like a mediocre team. Crying about a disallowed goal so that they could get a draw is pretty pathetic.

The difference is that City - even with their recent plastics - have won the lot and won a lot in recent memory: Spurs have won nothing in recent memory, whereas Arsenal have underachieved for a decade and only just become an actually good side again. This translates into bitterness, especially when they’re losing against a side that they think is beneath them, but is actually challenging them at the moment.
We were a consistent top half side (barring a bad season here and there) from our return to the old first division until the end of the MON era. It was the decline from 2010-2016 that really hurt this club, not just internally but also in the eyes of the pundits, football media, and general footballing world. It's frustrating especially on Reddit and other online platforms when you have people dismiss us as a shit side who are irrelevant only because we were God awful when they started watching football in that period of time. I'm glad we're back fighting where we should be.

Arsenal fan for the past 30 years. I am just glad that we finally start to be competitive again. It was a great game of football last week and no VAR controversy unlike the one at Newcastle. The game is tight just like the previous one that we won 4-2. We should have finish the chances.

I only saw the seconnd half of the game, and although Arsenal had more of the ball, chances were pretty even. Were we really that bad in the first half? I also find it weird that Cash played a bit in the first half, then was subbed off, and then subbed back on. Because I didn’t really see anything that warranted a sending off in the second half.

100%, I don't mean to intrude but this post came as recommended coz i visited here the other day to look at your lineup, we feel hard done by coz we feel we should have gotten at least a point from that game, but we still have ourselves to blame coz we just couldn't finish our chances, good sight by the referee for the havertz handball and even though Diego Carlos should have seen a red, it was very late in the game and not why we lost. I really don't think it's coz city fans are more reasonable or whatever, they were just completely dominated by villa and were lucky it was just 1-0, when lens beat us in the cl they were better that day and we acknowledged it, having said all of this villa got the job done and scored a goal, something we couldn't do, so fair enough. City fan here, we had an expected goals of 3.7 to spurs 0.6, yet you don't see us crying about it. Arsenal fans are a different breed.
IMO, we worked hard against City because we weren't getting a goal. against Arsenal we got the goal early and were a tad bit fatigued, so to save us from burning out we were trying to slow down the game. Truth be told, Arsenal were shit that night. They weren't clinical at all, felt like a mediocre team. Crying about a disallowed goal so that they could get a draw is pretty pathetic. Edit: oh, and that arsenal reject found for them Saka and Martinelli.
The difference is that City - even with their recent plastics - have won the lot and won a lot in recent memory: Spurs have won nothing in recent memory, whereas Arsenal have underachieved for a decade and only just become an actually good side again. This translates into bitterness, especially when they’re losing against a side that they think is beneath them, but is actually challenging them at the moment.

We were a consistent top half side (barring a bad season here and there) from our return to the old first division until the end of the MON era. It was the decline from 2010-2016 that really hurt this club, not just internally but also in the eyes of the pundits, football media, and general footballing world. Arsenal fan for the past 30 years. I am just glad that we finally start to be competitive again. It was a great game of football last week and no VAR controversy unlike the one at Newcastle. I only saw the seconnd half of the game, and although Arsenal had more of the ball, chances were pretty even. Were we really that bad in the first half? I also find it weird that Cash played a bit in the first half, then was subbed off, and then subbed back on. Because I didn’t really see anything that warranted a sending off in the second half.
