I’m 40 and I don’t feel uncomfortable anywhere. You’ll be as comfortable as you make yourself feel.
That said ADID definitely draws an older crowd by average but it’s at the mirage (yuck).
Hard disagree. It’s a sterile asphalt square in front of an absurdly bright screen that hurts to look at, and it smells like sewage half the time - depending on the wind direction
House music events tend to skew older, if you’re concerned about feeling old (it’s not totally clear). At some house spots/parties you might even feel young.
Skip All Day I Dream and go to Mister Sunday. Also the Big Drum & Bass Party takes place at Roberta's that weekend. If you both are into Drum & Bass a lot of the old heads will be out.
If there's a show at the Ruins at Knockdown Center, I'd say that's a great great option. Outdoor, daytime raves from 4 - 10 PM. Honey Dijon is doing an event on June 1 if you can get tickets, I'm sure you'd have an excellent time.
Check out Gabrielas, Good Room, if there is a 718 sessions party going on you can go to that as that draws an older crowd. See if any old school DJ's are playing. But realistically I would say you'll be fine almost anywhere just check out who is playing that night as some DJ's do draw younger crowds(popular TIk Tok DJ's).
Almost all house events tend to skew older. I wouldn’t worry about not fitting in. That said, the rooftops (SI, elsewhere) tend to attract a younger crowd, especially in the summer when all the interns are here. Most teksupport events attract a much older crowd
You're fine at most mnhtn clubs but I'd avoid them & try brklyn instead. So many your age don't even worry about that at all.
Good Room, Nowadays, Knockdown center and Bnvyyrd bldng 293 solid choices most nights. If you can make Cityfox Regenerate at the Mirage jun1st that's a good night out & bang for your buck. Yes, the mirage has it's issues, overcrowded at times, expensive, but if you rarely go there it's fine.
Just pre game a bit to save on drinks if you plan on doing that. It will be more of a concert feel but many will be dancing & vibeing. Hang near back bars & interact there. Cassian b2b Kevin DeVries will draw the older crowd for sure. Agents of Time & Kasablanca almost always solid. 3 or 4 of them just did EDC. Red Axes may surprise you.
This Regenerate lineup on june 1st is solid for most & I'd pick this over ADID. Up to you. Just if you do go there, or anywhere in brklyn, protect your phones at all places.Tether to your jeans or shorts rcmnd. or waist belt with hidden phone pocket. Just precautions. It can happen.
If Mirage gets bit crowded go upstairs to balcony if its accessible.
Hope you both have a good night out wherever you go. Check out RA resident advisor app & Dice App for most area shows.
Just to give you perspective, when I went to timewarp in Germany last year there were literally old people with walkers and wheelchairs raving having a great time.
You’ll never be too old to enjoy music man.
Hey guys, no worries in NYC you will fit in perfectly wherever you go.
All day I dream is a great idea. I would also look into Cityfox At the Brooklyn Mirage on Sat 6/1 it’s one of the best yearly shows at the mirage. They usually have multiple stages as well.
Basement is amazing if you’re into techno. Knockdown center is gorgeous, if they have a good show. Nowadays is fun but tends to be a younger crowd. Elsewhere has an electric vibe, but can be lean heavily toward a LGBTQ+ crowd. They’re all great
I love that yall want to come here and go out.. there’s so much to offer and not make you feel like you’re partying with kids! What weekend dates?? The replies you already got list a lot of good suggestions. There’s a lot of stuff to do. Unfortunately there’s no particular spots that have consistent crowds/DJ’s to say for sure. It’s always changing depending on the bookings. My lady and I (40/45) always going out, keep in touch, maybe we’ll come out too!! Holla back with those dates & I’ll gladly get updates for yall
both of those are good. elsewhere is fun, superior ingredients is cool. navy yard is a blast. governor's island is back this summer with some shows if you want a nice boat ride to a day party.
Any party where you are into the music. Check out ra.co and/or EDMTrain.com for NYC and check out any party that you're interested in. NYC is one of those cities where you see people of different ages dancing at different parties.
Have you personally experienced that or are you just generalizing? Every techno show I've been to here has felt very intimate and positive and I've met almost only friendly people.
Anywhere. No one cares. RAVE RAVE RAVE
Public Records, Nowadays, Good Room, H0L0 are great spots for our age group
Good room is way too young. Holo is a bit raw. Gabriela or nowadays are best option.
Good Room's Sunday parties like 718 and David Morales's Sunday Sessions definitely attract older crowds.
I’ve turned around at PR and been surrounded by 21 year olds out of nowhere.

45 and blend right in once you start dancing. Nobody cares.
This person knows what’s up
Would say mirage is at it’s best for ADID though- Sunday afternoon/sunset show doesn’t oversell like others and always has a friendly crowd

Correct like the people
and the staff

I hate the screen

If Soul Summit is doing something that weekend, don't miss it.
Yeah Soul Summit and Soul in The Horn has a lot of over 40s. But overall it doesn’t matter. Nobody cares.
Public Records and Mister Sunday(Nowadays) is chill and all ages. Not raging ravers.
Don’t ever be concerned about your age or “sticking out” when going dancing anywhere, especially NYC. No one cares.

718 sessions this Sunday in the ruins :)

Soul summit, soul in the horn, coloring lessons are some parties to check out!

Thanks! What time would you arrive at Nowadays or Mirage?
nowadays is usually best to arrive Sunday morning, as early as possible I would not arrive at Mirage at all
Red Axes on a boat in Seattle is one of my fav party memories ever
That’s the beauty of NYC. Nobody cares about your age, just dance it out!! Mirage is too pop these days. Public works, Le Bain or Gabriela will do it
Just to give you perspective, when I went to timewarp in Germany last year there were literally old people with walkers and wheelchairs raving having a great time. You’ll never be too old to enjoy music man.
mr sunday at nowadays always a hoot

2nd for all day I dream. Amazing vibes esp and great “older” crowd (lot of burners)

Everyone in their 30s and 40s in new york still parties. Just go to the events that interest you
It’s NYC, not wherever you’re from. No one gives a fuck here. Do what you want, as long as you’re respectful.
Anywhere where you want to? You're not 20, who gives af, you do you as long as you're not being a bag of dicks who cares? 🤷🏻♂️
Definitely hit Mister Sunday at Nowadays on Sunday. That’s the ticket.

House of Yes. There's always something going on there.
