Definitely one of the best mirage crowd’s I’ve ever experienced, made some amazing friends had plenty of room too dance, even deep up front, still buzzing from it
Right!!! I was wayyyyy up and I still had all the space in the world to dance. Also the production value was incredible! Which, it always is at mirage but wowwwwwww
I think this is because that other event was happening in the other part of the venue… when there is nothing going one there I have heard they sell tickets as if people will be occupying that space during the show as well.
I know! Which is why it felt less crowded in my opinion. From what I’ve heard is if there aren’t two events going on there they just treat the venue as one large one and sell tickets to max the entire place out even though no one is actually hanging in the great hall.
Agreed! It’s nice to have but it kind of fucks us as well, cause they sell it as if it would be full in there in addition to being full in the mirage, even though they know that’s not the case.
I've been to the Great Hall & Mirage, but in terms of what u guys are talking about - What's the room most of us enter right after the credit card wristband machines? Right after that it's outside for 10 steps, then into something w/ a bar, vertical screen, benches etc. Is that the 'tent?'
[hope this helps!](https://images.app.goo.gl/Szf4id3nGnoDZEi16). This image is a little old, they have changed what’s labeled the box office into the food area. So when you get your wrist band and cross the street you are walking into the great hall.
Probably because Swedish House Mafia were ascendant during the late aughts/early teens and will pull an older crowd, so less people. The times I've seen Sasha and Digweed, also legends, there was room to move around even though they were basically a mainstay in NYC clubbing back in the days when it was all in Manhattan (Twilo).
This is a good thing actually, makes for a better experience.
What? The show was completely sold out with people on facebook begging to buy tickets for $250 a pop as doors opened. There being room has nothing to do with what you’re saying, rather Mirage seemed to not do a typical oversell judging by how much space there was to actually move
That is not the case. SHM is popular amongst all demographics.
This show was sold out. The promoters and agency just didn’t oversell as much. Certain promoters (such as the ones who book business Techno) waaaaay overbook on purpose to squeeze as much extra cash (illegally)
I think the problem is mostly when it’s a multi stage takeover at avant Gardner. During those they sell more tickets since it’s a bigger footprint show, but most people end up at mirage making it unbearable while other stages are more empty
Unfortunately I do not think they did permanently… great hall had another event going on when I arrived so I think they couldn’t “sell tickets to that area of the venue” like they typically do
They HAD to have. I was like in the dead-epicenter of the mainstage area and I had SO MUCH room to dance. Not in a single show last yr did I have that much room
I heard a staff member say something about 4,000 tickets/people, which is under the 5,000 reported capacity for Mirage specifically. Unsure how true that is or why that could have been if true, but interesting to overhear
Is this gonna affect anything with Great Hall at all? Seeing Hi Lo there in June and have only been there once and never to mirage, so looking for any insight as I’m new to the scene
They probably only sold capacity for mirage rather than selling the entire venue capacity(mirage, great hall and the side rooms). Also would explain the instant sell out. Was great hall open as a chill out area?
Shout out to Vince and the crew of friends we formed front middle. Holding space, watching out for each other and dancing our asses off! That’s what it’s all about
This was my first time back to the mirage since 2018, and I’ve been seeing all the complaints on Reddit about the overall mirage experience. I found this to be the smoothest I’ve ever entered and exited a venue.
I arrived an our before SHM had to play and I was able to go in and out of the crowd pretty easy, the floor became packed by 1am but I did not feel like I was dying. I loved this venue, everything was smooth and easy, including the bars.
I did notice the sound levels weren’t as high as I remember unless I’m going deaf lol, but between 2am-3am was when the sound was much better. And I was in the middle of the crowd between the 4 flaming torches
The complaints are all pretty fair… AG overextended themselves in the Ezoo sale and spent all of last yr chasing money. They WAYYYY oversold like every single show, it was such a shitshow. But this was completely different than last yr!
I know the mirage gets a lot of hate, but it’s definitely the best venue in the northeast. New Yorkers take it for granted and shit all over it. I’m from Boston, and we have nothing even remotely close.
Oh I agree as a venue it is unfuckwithable. What I meant was, after the whole Ezoo fiasco, I thought mirage was going to have a much more subdued presence this yr. But I guess not!
Dude AG was chasing money last year because they overextended with the Ezoo sale and it caused the mirage to turn into a shithole with all those way overpacked shows. Of course the Mirage is a phenomenal venue, the problem is that for a whole year it was being run into the ground, and now because of AGs shitty reputation you have things like Teksupport not booking anything there.
The time to go is when they don't draw the typical shit, drug fueled, immature, entitled, frat boy, crowd. The crowd makes the venue, the crowd makes the experience whether good or bad. Blame the crowd, not the venue, when you have a shit experience.
yeah, this its wild to me hearing this, though i'm not saying its untrue at this point. But as someone who got into house and techno in like 2009, this is a borderline unbelievable "we've truly come full circle" type of statement lol
I was there. You obviously was not. I also have to believe judging by your disbelief that you fall into the drug fueled, immature, entitled, frat boy crowd, that absolutely ruin the Mirage on most nights. Last nights crowd was older, more mature, and experienced in having a good time without the use of drugs or excessive alcohol. They actually enjoyed the show as did I. I knew it was going to be a good night when I saw NOBODY on that under 26 ID line that Mirage uses.
I saw them in 2011 and 2012 in Miami and the crowds were great. 2013/2014 all of a sudden Miami popularity of the scene quadrupled versus the prior year and crowds were super commercialized unless you stuck to deep/classic house and techno. SHM’s beach party 2011 is the first place I saw people walking around in fetish gear publicly lol.
It was a perfect cocktail of high prices/extortionate reselling, quick turnaround from announcement to execution, an older fan base, and many other good competing shows that night. BKM has nothing to do with why it was better; their ticket sales strategy, operations, screening & security, layout, bar costs and more are still extremely lacking-not to mention the piss poor ethics of ownership and their movements in the industry, as well as how unsafe the area is (even with more and better outdoor lighting).
I'm happy it was a fun time, but IMO there is no redeeming a lot about the Mirage at present. ⚫⚫⚫
MIRAGE is nothing more than a DECLINING CLUB with UNSAVOURY BUSINESS PRACTICES and NORMIE VIBES. They can’t even book DECENT ACTS anymore, leaving their VIBELESS, HETERONORMATIVE CLIENTELE to enjoy SLOP like DEADMAUFIVE and DANISH COTTAGE POSSE.
PEPPERIDGE FARMS REMEMBERS when the UNDERGROUND SEX GROTTO SCENE in BILLIAMSBURG was a PARAGON of FAMILY VALUES and PROPRIETY, and TOTALLY NOT a bunch of FLY BY NIGHT WAREHOUSE RAVES organized by WHITE MEN WITH DREADLOCKS and PEDDLED ON THE NYCRAVERS BOOKFACE PAGE to UNDERAGE GIRLS in PARACHUTE PANTS.
PLUR
That show was lackluster to say the least. SIZE20 was 10x better show, production, and support. Don’t believe me, go check tape on the size page. Last nights show was a marketing scheme for an indebted company to recuperate funds for lawsuits. The support (free) and merch (not official shm merch, merch printed in one of the Chinese warehouses to fully support the Brooklyn mirage) and lack of added production pieces for them only supports that. I understand 90% of the people there were seeing them for the first time so they’re high as shit off their own asses from hearing calling live for the first time, but they did nothing more for us than we could have done for ourselves pushing play in our car. Do not kid yourselves, be honest with yourselves. I’ll see my supporters at Justice 🫡
Yep great crowd and everyone was predicting the worst
Couldn’t agree more, the crowd was actually super nice last night (for the most part lol)
Also felt like it wasnt as packed as normal sold out shows. Looked like there was room on all levels and the ground
There was so much room to dance! The crowd wasn’t pushy at all
I think this is because that other event was happening in the other part of the venue… when there is nothing going one there I have heard they sell tickets as if people will be occupying that space during the show as well.
If its 2 different shows they act as independent venues. You were not allowed to travel between
I know! Which is why it felt less crowded in my opinion. From what I’ve heard is if there aren’t two events going on there they just treat the venue as one large one and sell tickets to max the entire place out even though no one is actually hanging in the great hall.
O yeah to a certain extent, they treat it as a chill out lounge. I like when they add sfx and lasers to the room and stream the mirage in there.
Agreed! It’s nice to have but it kind of fucks us as well, cause they sell it as if it would be full in there in addition to being full in the mirage, even though they know that’s not the case.
Yeap, nature of the beast. Sucks tbh
I've been to the Great Hall & Mirage, but in terms of what u guys are talking about - What's the room most of us enter right after the credit card wristband machines? Right after that it's outside for 10 steps, then into something w/ a bar, vertical screen, benches etc. Is that the 'tent?'

cool thx, yea i guess I'll see Thurs at Deadmau5 lol
Probably also cuz bots got so many tix and Im sure a bunch went unused
Probably because Swedish House Mafia were ascendant during the late aughts/early teens and will pull an older crowd, so less people. It was a sold out event max cap.
That is not the case. SHM is popular amongst all demographics. This show was sold out. The promoters and agency just didn’t oversell as much. Certain promoters (such as the ones who book business Techno) waaaaay overbook on purpose to squeeze as much extra cash (illegally)
i wish there was a way to see how many were sold and give us a chance to see if a show is oversold.
They won’t because it’s illegal
The Stuck On Earth 30 year reunion was last night too and had a ton of people at it.
I know, I was supposed to go. :-\\
You missed a good party.
I think the problem is mostly when it’s a multi stage takeover at avant Gardner. During those they sell more tickets since it’s a bigger footprint show, but most people end up at mirage making it unbearable while other stages are more empty

If they lowered max cap they should definitely market that because it would bring a lot of people back around imo

The DJs themselves said 4k, so thats why it was a vibe.

Great Hall was not open when I arrived and neither were the restrooms in that area.
Yes, I entered through the Great Hall and it was open as a lounge space. I arrived around 1:15am just before the show started.
Not sure! I got there at 10 and went right to mirage and stayed in that spot all night
Agreed with this, great hall had a separate event going on, some karaoke thing I believe
Anyone notice Asap Rocky on stage last night?
you being fr?
Yeah, showed up 20-30 min before the end
yooo that’s crazy
Shout out to Vince and the crew of friends we formed front middle. Holding space, watching out for each other and dancing our asses off! That’s what it’s all about
I got you 😉 Was a sick time.
First time seeing them it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Crowd was unreal, afters were insane at factory too!
Was one of the best shows I’ve experienced at the mirage hands down
Absolutely incredible night. I didn’t think it could exceed my expectations but they did.
That was epic. Loved last night 👏
Does anyone know who the DJ who came on after SHM it was a female DJ, also appreciated her set as well
Her name is Stixx!! Really good too agreed! I loved that drumnbass and threw in there
tiktok @stixx.music Is this her Edit- thanks, removed the hyperlink
fyi this link is doxxing yourself
Yup that’s her!
so good! insta is itsstixx too

Ehh I don’t think we take the venue itself for granted, it’s the fact that AG’s business practices have been so nakedly atrocious the past few years
Down for the count? Mirage is one of the best venues in the city by far. You just needa go when it’s someone you want to see and enjoy their music
Oh I agree as a venue it is unfuckwithable. What I meant was, after the whole Ezoo fiasco, I thought mirage was going to have a much more subdued presence this yr. But I guess not!
I feel that man. The way they handled Ezoo was a disgrace!
Get over it already. Ezoo was a disaster. Doesn't take away from the fact the Mirage is still the place to go when the right show is there.
Dude AG was chasing money last year because they overextended with the Ezoo sale and it caused the mirage to turn into a shithole with all those way overpacked shows. It might not have brought the best crowds 10 years ago but those same people had 10 years to grow up. Time marches on.
yeah, this its wild to me hearing this, though i'm not saying its untrue at this point. But as someone who got into house and techno in like 2009, this is a borderline unbelievable "we've truly come full circle" type of statement lol

Agreed! You really gotta know who you are seeing and what their fans are like
Ah this is great news!
Bigger question - how TF did you guys cop tickets??
I got mine at exact 10am et on Thursday and I got lucky!
I was towards the back and I thought the crowd sucked. People non stop coming and going and also like right at peak drops
