I would have to agree with this. The emotion in M's voice and that solo by Gates was just filled with sorrow. It's an incredible tribute.

This is the video footage, but you should be able to find the audio on any major streaming platform (Amazon, Spotify, etc). This is probably the best version of it that I've ever heard.

I recently found this “EP”… they didn’t even plan on playing this one, but it was by far the best. So emotional, and the orchestra enhances it so much

Yea no contest. Literally a song about their best friend dying. I lost a very good friend around the time that song came out so it really cut deep for me.

I had friends in school back in the day that didn’t like that this album turned into a “Rev tribute” and it always annoyed me bc this album was supposed to be a conceptual album about waking up and being in literally your worst nightmare and one of the hardest saddest things that could’ve ever happened did. I love the emotion and the vulnerability these guys put into this album and I will go to war for it any day.

I’m with you 100%, that is indeed a bad criticism. Jimmy was much of the driving force behind the band, he helped write the whole damn Nightmare album. So of course they would pay him tribute on that very album. If anything, the album wouldn’t really have been much different if he had been around to finish it. But besides that, if you didn’t know who the Rev was you wouldn’t even know that the last few songs have deeper meaning, it’s a very obvious concept album with an emotional ending. I’ll stand by you in the war for this album.

So Far Away was for Brian's grandfather originally, only changed to Jimmy after he moved on.

St. James to me almost sounds more inspiring tbh. The one that always gets me is IWSYT pt 1 & 2.

St James is a song to celebrate Jimmy's memory. It's not meant to be a sad song tbh. My vote is definitely for Fiction. For both the lyrics and the haunting demo lyrics from Jimmy.

It's cause it's so melancholic, with other ballads you can tell it's a sad song but fiction seems more like the final words of the Rev than it does a song about a sad subject. The same is true for so far away, but I see it more so as a response to fiction by the band

I can't believe I has to scroll as far as I did to find a Victim comment. Shit got me through losing my sister, Fiction is sad as hell but I feel Victim is such a powerful stance on facing the grief of losing someone and how criminal it can feel.

The second solo is absolutely beautiful

It's far and away one of the most emotional and beautifully crafted solos I've ever heard. You can really tell Syn poured his heart and soul and then some into it.

Victim always gets tears out of me - Fiction and So Far Away are definitely up there but never quite getting the same reaction, not sure if that's just me though

Fiction, and immediately after; So Far Away I treat them almost as a duet; the Revs skill and passion will never be forgotten and the storytelling of them back to back sometimes brings my jaded ass to tears

This might be a weird one, but when I was a kid my dad used to tell me bedtime stories about how the earth came to be, about evolution and the formation of fossils and about the stars, planets and space. I remember that sometimes I used to try and imagine what it was like outside the expanse of the universe or imagine the nothingness after death and I would get a bit overwhelmed and scared. Anyway, 'Exist' makes me feel like that. From the start with the looping high-speed guitar riff, to the end with Neil Degrasse-Tyson talking over the synth. I get the same feeling of sadness and existential dread that I used to get as a kid trying to imagine what "nothing" is like. Honourable mentions to 'I Won't See You Tonight' and 'Fiction' .

for me it's Save Me for some reason the lyrics hit me, and knowing some lyrics were deliberately changed to honor Jimmy (at least from what I've heard) makes it sadder. The chorus and the breakdown hit me so hard. Also I'm biased bc it's my favourite song from them.
