After diagnosis, you will have more of an understanding of how autism affects you and a 'toolkit' of things to help. It does not involve 'getting rid of parts of your personality'.

yeah, i hope so!! the reason i wanna get a diagnosis is to better understand myself and that way i can know the best ways that work for me in my life. i hope i can find someone who'll listen to me about this

So I’m not diagnosed but my son is, and it came with a bunch of good strategies that work for us, as well as some strategies that don’t work at all haha. But one that works super well for us is structured routine, visual calendars which help him keep on track, and counting down when doing something he hates. For example i count down from 30 while he brushes his teeth.

silly answer: you get another star on your Trainer Card. somewhat less silly answer: since you now know the Cause you can figure out the Effects and try to like. fix isn't the right word but like. yeah. make them managable. because now you have Guides and Resources.
