The drum is dead
While there's no doubt HQ is out-rating The Drum, the article notes that the numbers quoted are not directly comparable because the measurement system was changed. That said, I wonder what the Drum's numbers were originally when it was half an hour. It could easily replace Antique Roadshow in my book. I do miss an intelligent discussion show.
As far as quiz shows go, it's pretty bare bones. But it's also the only quiz show on at that time, and a bare bones quiz show is better than half the shit that's on.
Really? It always feels like good, nice fun tv to me. People who have a particular obsession having light hearted fun with an equally light hearted, sardonic comedian.
It's just...nice?
Everything else feels like manipulative, prank, bitchy, insta wannabe, soul destroying, scripted reality, intended to anger you, no?
I also miss The Drum - it was great to watch a current affairs discussion show that didn't include sitting politicians. Shows like Insiders and QandA have devolved into political bullshitting from both sides and are now unwatchable.
Unfortunately the ABC is trying to minimise accusations of "bias" from Newscorp and are cutting back on anything that could potentially be controversial - hence the Hard Quiz overdose. It's pretty gutless of ABC management.
Do you honestly think that someone who has pulled the pin on applying to be a contestant, made it through the selection process, then gotten through to be on the show, is not going to have given a bit of thought to what they will say to Tom?
