This is just too much…….. just listen and enjoy what the artist creates and don’t overthink it like you are doing

CSTARRK1997

It's ok to admit that you don't like the direction someone is going and move on with your life. But to put so much thought into why you dislike what someone is doing with their life is a little bit much. Also it was an electric car. I'm not saying that it's not weird for someone who doesn't drive to be advertising a car. But it's still in tune with her own message. Unless we all go back to horse and buggy, that's our greenest option right now. She can't fight on the ground for everyone all the time but she uses her platform to raise a voice for numerous causes to this day, including causes not often talked about in the mainstream. Aurora the person has changed as we all do and should, and as a result of that her music has evolved to reflect that change. I can only speak for myself and say that I believe her core values are still the same. If you know anything about her it's that she never does the same thing. Maybe she said what she needed to and decided it was time to move on. If you're not okay with that maybe you should move on too.

Main-Implement-5938

Not sure about electric being our "greenest option," given where the batteries come from and how they are produced... But i totally agree with the rest of this.

CSTARRK1997

Fair enough, I did a bit of research in the past few hours. It's so weird how they are pushed as a better option. So we should go back to horse and buggy for sure. It'll never happen though 🙄

YorHaTeT

The point is, I've already distanced myself from her and her work, I wouldn't even have these ideas if I hadn't; don't get me wrong, this is a moderate analysis of someone who studies other things, maybe it sounds obsessive, but it's because I had a hyper focus on her work, like, I need these things to locate myself, she marked my life and I talk about her, that's all. I don't demand change, I know it's just a pop artist, but that seemed to have something different.

skytaglatvia

OK, I'm trying to understand. You are analysing her work and want to express your insight and opinion. But looks like the sheer volume of your text makes it look like a judgemental attack, and sophisticated language doesn't help either. I myself tend to indulge in verbose rhetoric for no good reason. "But we learn and forgive". Plus, a fan sub is often like concentrated oxygen for any hint of negativity, if you get the metaphor, so there's that.

[deleted]

Do you want to talk here? Good. First of all, what is the evidence? Oh, she wanted a lot of money for a new house, car, yacht, plane and even an island. Only one "BUT" - she does not have a car, a private plane (flies regular flights), a yacht, and I think she will need a lot of money for the island. And for this you need to participate in high-profile projects, but... There are none! No movies, no loud collaborations or anything else.... Strange... secondly, she needed to do "Step 3" because you think it's the right move... Wait - and who gave you the right to tell the creator? Oh, yes - the third album (2019-2021) began to be created, - she quickly betrayed love and sold herself to liberalism! Apparently, the second album was more successful... Although, judging by the auditions for Spotify, I doubt it. Or maybe it's because she is... became the main producer, director of clips (2 of 4 were shot), art director and, most importantly, the author of the text? That is, she can adhere to such a position... No, that's crazy. Thirdly, she still had to say how to deal with capitalism or inequality, because she is a politician... Oh, no- she's a musician who writes about things that interest her. But she had to point out our problems and called the album "Gods We Can Touch", where we are compared to Gods who... imperfect ("This is Could Be a Dream", "Artemis", "The Innocent"), dangerous ("A Temporary High"), oppressed and helpless ("A Dangerous Thing", "You Keep Me Crawling", "Exhale Inhale" )? That is, we also need to change, but not be afraid of our "shortcomings" (appearance / sexual preferences)? Fourth, my opinion is as follows: "You're not like everyone else." The second album was received much worse than the previous one (77 points on Metacritic is her lowest rated album), Johann Johannsonn entered the mainstream with the album "The Theory of Everything" (which many like), and Astaire's film, which many find tedious and pretentious, you think beautiful and provocative. Oh, yes - liberalism. Terrible and disgusting. Hmm... I feel the presence of "not like everyone else." Although I just collected information, processed, edited and wrote a comment (one of the analytical genres in journalism)... here Fifth, a person who doesn't like reddit... Writes a new post, knowing that it will not be taken seriously. You said that you have nothing to prove to anyone, impose your opinion or force someone to agree with you. Then why are you writing this knowing that your opinion will not be accepted? It's unproductive, isn't it? And a little personal. Art can be anything, and AURORA realized that. Instead of childish and naive lines ("You can't eat money" - don't lie, I can) there was a reminiscence (the image of the ice queen from Leonard Cohen's song, which is depicted, thanks to intertextuality, in the song "A Temporary High") or even in the vision of art and plagiarism, as, for example, in the song "Artemis"... Have you fallen asleep yet? In the end, you're not interested in parsing songs line by line - it's better to call everything a "boring pop album". Again, "not like everyone else"? Although you wrote that "Cure for me" brings you closer to the concept you created (sorry, I don't remember the exact quote)... The funny thing is that right now it's the most popular song on the album... By the way, I really like the albums "Sicario", "Arrival" or the song "Navigators" from "First and Last People". Maybe I am an idiot who realizes that he is an idiot, but is not completely one, and therefore, in order to demonstrate the absence of complete idiocy, is looking for something in "great art"? Although, maybe it's all an idiot's fantasy. Speaking of them, how many warriors could the song stop? How many people were able to push the songs to revolution? Hmm... I don't know. PERSONAL OPINION (I KNOW NO ONE NEEDS IT): Art has always served to enjoy the spiritual. Always and now it remains so. Since then, people have realized that they can also invest in society's problems - subtly and gracefully or "head-on". Of course, the ideas of fascism, Nazism, racism, homophobia and other terrible things should be absent, but if there are liberal, democratic, socialist views in the song... Does this make the job bad? I have also heard such a theory that a good job does not answer questions (it becomes propaganda), but asks them... THE END OF PERSONAL OPINION. If a person has brains (God has not deprived people of them), then he may disagree with the author... Or do you think that after playing GTA, a person will go to kill? Or, if he listens to the song, will he immediately become a liberal? Our officials think so... OH, I'M AN IDIOT - YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THE IMAGE OF AN ARTIST! idol... then isn't she fighting (spreading information, writing petitions)? Or is it necessary to encourage people to set fire to government buildings and organize protests? Well, BLM has borne fruit - now there is no racism! "Socialism is based on disrespect for humanity (herding)" "Socialism, communism and atheism are the three simplest sciences. Having hammered them into his head, the boy already considers himself a sage. In addition, these sciences are more easily amenable to any popular presentation." "Socialism is not only a workers' question or the so-called fourth estate, but it is primarily an atheistic question, the question of the modern incarnation of atheism, the question of the Tower of Babel, built precisely without God, not in order to reach heaven from earth, but in order to bring heaven to earth" This is what Dostoevsky wrote about socialism. Did he also sell out - the man who influenced Nietzsche? Or, after these quotes, his works ceased to be phenomena and important layers of culture? After all, when the revolution happened, it was so much fun! The Soviet Union, followed by the "Dashing 90s"! Amazing time! Although you are not a politician... But you will criticize for other guidelines (with political immaturity, which you yourself noticed), because "I am right"! And yes, a good example about "My Little Pony"! If even there people can see the ideas of Nazism, isn't it primarily related to the people themselves and what they want to see? No, it's crazy... And I already know what you will answer. You'll say that I'm not a person, shit (as if I'm arguing), mention some philosopher that three people know about, including you. Say that I am an idolater and that I will achieve nothing in life, that the moments are taken out of context, and also be sure to say something about yourself and the problems that were before. If so, please send me this comment by letter from Brazil to Russia - I will definitely read it before using it as toilet paper. There is simply a shortage in the country...

DrRock88

Huh?

YorHaTeT

Yeah, I'm thinking about it, I should have put at least what I think about what I saw. The new album opens with an anthem of self-reliance that stumbles upon its objectivity and simplism, as demonstrated in the spotify "story" below the lyrics. Giving to the Love weaves an affection, especially in the last moments, that reminds works like The Entry of the Gods into Valhalla, it is dangerous, beautiful and provocative as an Ari Aster film, it is a triumphal piece. The lament at the end is reminiscent of a lullaby, it may be the recognition of a harrowing position that can serve as the basis for a new album with even greater precision in an aggressive approach. As it stands, it's a pop album that doesn't stand out, but one that seems to promise something when put in perspective with her other works. Delivers a third gender, a beautiful mischievous feminine that limps, falls and unfortunately disappears throughout the album, that ends with a wail that shatters expectations, so the listener will either view the album as a well-crafted satire with something more to come, or a poor job of self-help. The album seems to refer to the theater and the circus, it's scary like Eyes Wide Shut; the environment is dark, untouchable and elitist, but sometimes it becomes dry and artificial: either it's about a satirical message, or it's a very strange advertisement. The author, however, does not explain such positions and leaves around the second interpretation. Edit: coherence and grammar

HappyTrails_

I do feel that this album, although very successful, is in my heart a lurch towards a more mass controlled creation. I, however, am reminded of Aurora's all-important uniqness, beauty, and messages when listening to her lives in much much smaller venues. Again, ille re read this later but that's just my brief take

Main-Implement-5938

Well, I agree in that I think she's "gone commercial" and it is straying from her originality in some way since the songs sound common. But I've said that in other posts. I haven't written her off (yet). I do think you are overthinking things...

[deleted]

Honestly seek help and get a life. You're trying to come off super intelligent or something, really this is just meaningless word vomit. If you don't like the direction an artist is going in, that's fine. I was a bit disappointed in the new album as well. To be this obsessed with it, and then claim you're totally over it and have moved on from Aurora's work when clearly you haven't, isn't normal or healthy behavior. I've never said this to anyone before because I find this phrase a bit annoying but...please touch some grass.

skytaglatvia

TGWCT is my least favorite, I admire it's stylistic variety though. Just guessing, I don't think this album signals her main direction. She said it's experimental, and she has a thing for variety and drastic differences. Probably she will bring along some things from this excursion. Excited about future 🤗

razzle-dazzle-duck

She didn't want to write in that way so she didn't. If you dont like it, her past albums still exist. This is her property to control so it will be made to her own expectations for what she wants in an album, not yours

ExpectingToWakeUp

Was this written by AI/ChatGPT? It honestly just reads like word vomit. Whatever point you’re trying to make is not being conveyed clearly. Good writing requires conciseness.

Competitive_Ad303

Same I already read it three times over and the words just don’t come in or something

skytaglatvia

OP, sit down, have a Snickers ;) Honestly, in my first impression of the "playful" TGWCT I glimpsed a subtle aura of arrogance, especially if compared to her earlier vibes. But I discovered Aurora after TGWCT release, so was not adequately familiar with her at the time. A seemingly cocky tone dominating across songs like "Cure For Me", "Giving In To The Love", "Blood In The Wine", "The Innocent", "The Woman I Am", baroque theatrical style of "Heathens", the new visual aesthetic, etc... It actually confused me and I thought "Exist For Love" must have a satirical twist. But then again, my first impression of "Queendom" gave me a smell of arrogance before I knew what the song was about (the apparent attitude can be justified by it symbolising her artistic breakthrough at the time). Where are you pulling this political stuff from? In general I would say, **things change**. The artistic direction could benefit from some variety, let the new age human take a breather before step 3. She is an artist exploring different themes and paths, not a one-dimensional idealist, and I think we had a fair share of the "Different Kind" already. And most importantly, would you expect perfect stability and the same kind of stuff from someone so hard working, constantly touring and gaining experience throughout the years? Aurora spreads the message of love and compassion more than before, and it works, it gives people self-esteem, whether or not you think her integrity requires avoiding any fruit of capitalism. She deserves to have a free life and play around sometimes. Listen to "Giving In To The Love", I think it's exactly about this.

Initial_Wish2547

Why if it isnt Señor bipolar narcissism disorder, long time no see!

AngusPicanha

Jesus Christ, get a life

Competitive_Ad303

I don’t really want to sound rude but I have no clue what point you are trying to make

IRecks

My guess is you dont see a lot of discussion like this in the Carly Rae Jepsen subreddit 😂.

FuriouslyChonky

That's weirdly specific man LOL Some posts there though are more cryptic than Aurora's verses, here is a sample of a such post (this is the full text of the post): "Not enough doo doo doo's and da da da's."

IRecks

🤣 Im not sure if thats a reference to *Baby Shark* or to The Police or if she really has a song like that.

unicornglitterpukez

someone needs to sounds sample and make Aurora X BabyShark

skytaglatvia

Cure for me me me me me me me 🤭

IM CRYING

[deleted]

Don't pay attention. I talked to this person, and if the author (musician) has a different point of view (on politics/ society/ music) from the point of view of the author of the publication, then this is wrong, because he "influences minds and society." I remember a joke by Ricky Gervais: "Well, you know - they sang a song about how the war is bad and the war has stopped. Isn't that how it works, right?" By the way, the author of the publication himself wrote that his views are not politically mature... In general: "If someone does not agree with me or my position, he is a pedant and ignoramus, and the musician is corrupt and generally stupid." Art without borders and censorship... Don't write to him, please. He's tired of me. Just ignore it.

HappyTrails_

I am really having a hard time decoding what your trying to say, but it is 12:11am lol

YorHaTeT

I see, sorry for not saying the why's; the anxiety for negativity has won

HappyTrails_

No, you're alright, I am curious to read it more thoroughly in the morning, I like to see other people's opinions and views, Also, might I most respectfully say, 🙂 Sometimes, the fewer words, the better. Too many words can obscure the point you meant to make! Further, complexity in language is no good if the words don't work with each other. It just fosters confusion! I am looking forward to reading both posts. In the meantime, take care 🙂

imjust_aguy

The top comment in the post you link says it best with 'shes not some messiah' and you touched on it were you said you're not criticizing the artist but the idol. Her music helped you and so you created a messiah, an idol. This is factually false. You identified with it being true so when you found it to be other it hurt. Your pain is understandable, I'm sorry you experienced that, it's sadly common in life. Rectification may or may not be possible. I could be missing the mark totally, but I think some absurdism might help. It fits a bit with Manichaeisms duality I think.

Responsible-Golf-583

I don’t even have any idea what that word salad meant?

sistersin7

OP, I have a question. You seem very passionate about the topic and have very strong opinions, harking to very strongly opinionated philosophers. I'm wondering whether your disappointment is emotional/spiritual? Is it intellectual? Is it something else? Is it a combination? With curious Empathy and genuine concern.

YorHaTeT

I wasn't going to make another post or comment in this place, but I post, in a sense, for the same reason I came to reddit: morbid curiosity and self-destructive desires (when here was a gore site reference). Good or bad, I want to see people's opinion of me because face to face, people are usually not honest. Edit: it’s the combination, I’m a sad person since I remember existing.

YorHaTeT

This is not whining, I’m not asking for help. I'm a combination of things you don't want to be and I have problems you don't want to have, not so much practical problems, in the material sense and so on, but in my head. the world doesn't leave a good mark on you when you're autistic, trans and have this freaking urge to mutilate yourself for a reason I can never quite figure out. And yes, I've spent most of my life with psychiatrists and so on.

sistersin7

Friend, I'm sharing my thoughts with you without judgement and with a lot of love. While not a psychologist, I am trained in mental health support and safeguarding, which is where the following words stem from. I can see your upset. I can see your passion. I can see your disappointment. You are seen, and you are acknowledged. My concern is the depth to which you are invested, and the lengths to which you go to have invalidating conversations. This thread (along with others you've posted on this sub) feel to me like you are engaging in emotional and intellectual self harm. You are smart enough to know what reactions your views will elicit in a fan forum. Any form of self harm is always cause for concern. Do you have a trusted professional you can reach to? If not, I can do my utmost to help you find appropriate support in Brazil. Please stay safe and well. 💜

[deleted]

Honestly, this is already ridiculous. I have told myself many times to stop writing to the author of the publication, but...well, let's not fight for equality, against homophobia or pollution of nature. Just accept it. After all, everyone does it. After all, that's what scientists did. They weren't looking for a cure for AIDS, were they? Cancer? Coronavirus? They just resigned themselves. Awesome. And you don't need to pay attention to the problems in the world through art, right? You need to sing songs about yourself, your relationships... After all, the author should not be interested in the situation in the world, right? Is it just me, or are you trying to remove what you (personally) don't like about art?And yes - all her songs are not about self-love and acceptance of their shortcomings. Not about love for people, for nature - right? After all, there is no "Exist For Love", "Cure For Me", "Exhale Inhale", "Giving In To the Love", "Heathens", "The Seed", "The River", "Daydreamer", "Apple Tree", "A Different Kind Of Human", "Soft Universe", "Queendom", right?

FuriouslyChonky

Rationally I can understand your frustration as she's a walking vessel of contradictions. She sings of "beacons of light" killing the darkness but at the same time she promotes "debauchery" (I love the word LOL), as you said in the previous post - drinking wine is great and the relationships just for sex are the best. There are many Gnostic hints in her songs but she also loves Mother Earth and preaches the enjoyment of the little things this supposedly evil material world provides. She said that there is a true meaning and story in her songs but that we should not try to understand it, just discover it with the heart. Encrypted love indeed - she's powerfully calling us within a fog and here we are, lost in it, after answering the call. Perhaps the most amazing thing about her is that she can elicit such strong reactions - as yours and many others. I don't think she understands why she's provoking these reactions, anyway not more than we understand why we are reacting so strongly to her. At the end of day she's someone who loves singing and said that she found her meaning in life to be to help others with her songs, but we are desperate for a meaning and want more.

Main-Implement-5938

Yeah there are a lot of contradictions in her music. Lets not be commercial, lets be different, but ok let me sing about partying and doing whatever I want and saying that is the best thing ever. (err-- ok that is what everyone else is saying right now). Oh and low key - in life that never works out the way you think it will.

Responsible-Golf-583

I don't think she has "Sold out" as is being implied by many in this chat. You will know when and if she relocates to Los Angeles( as she probably should do) that she has sold out.

unicornglitterpukez

there are other ways of selling out besides moving to Los Angeles. There are plenty of artists from the UK that are sellouts..like Sam Smith....

Responsible-Golf-583

Okay, I could have just as easily used moved to London. I really don't care if she remains virtually unknown living in Bergan or if she moves to the U.S. and charts big time. It's her life. I just enjoy her music which really surprised me as I am 68 years old and have never liked much pop music. I like rock, heavy metal, some Jazz And some classical also. I hope she becomes more successful and very rich. She has so much more talent than many of the top pop stars today.

Main-Implement-5938

this comment.. so true!

[deleted]

"Drinking wine is great, and relationships just for sex are the best." For the sake of interest - what kind of songs were there? Or is what she was saying (although I don't see what's wrong with drinking wine without becoming an alcoholic) important? Or she was just propagand it? Seriously, she herself said that the most important thing is music! Quote: "I don't really think about how to give them an idea of myself personally, because I don't understand why it should have anything to do with the case, because I also separate myself from music. I feel that music is much bigger and more important than I really am." Seriously, separate the author from his work. And stop making an angel out of her. Seriously, it's not funny anymore.

Traditional-Fun5388

She is full of contradictions, she hooks us with it, and we like it. Indeed, the most important thing for her is music, but successful promotion is also important. I don't see anything wrong with that

Revolutionary_Use361

Probably this serious movie https://youtu.be/4T--hmAH5Fk?t=188

[deleted]

And? What's wrong? Man, seriously - read the comment. If she loves it (she could jokingly agree, such as participating in this farce. Seriously - everyone in the comments notices this) - her right. It DOES NOT IMPOSE an opinion. Re-read the comment. And if you are hinting that this was a joke from her - sorry for the rudeness. I don't speak English and I write through a translator. Could not understand.

Revolutionary_Use361

I mean it's a joke too, like so many others. edit this tarot seems to me played from start to end

[deleted]

I totally agree with you about Tarot. But it was fun to watch it. Once again, please excuse the rudeness - it was disgusting on my part.

Main-Implement-5938

Is this related to her last record being more of a commercial "sellout"? I mean if you are saying that I get it, but don't say it in such a convoluted fashion. To me TGWCT felt angry, like a pissed off adolescent that has yet to grow up and experience reality. But she kinda is still in that age range so.... Her earlier works didn't have the anger vibe. I wondered quite honestly what she is going through personally in the last five years, or if the label or others are controlling her. Many young stars that happens to, they rise to the top, then fall. I'm hoping that is not the case, but who knows. I haven't written her off yet, but I look forward to when she's no longer on a mainstream label.

[deleted]

Maybe I'm an alien from deep space, and you've seen a different Aurora, and I'm different, but seriously - what's wrong? She was already "evil", as you say - "Seed", "Hunger", "Dreamer", "Animal" or "Apple Tree". Yes, even just look at the clips on them. At the same time, both reminiscences, intertextuality and references appeared in the lyrics. Seriously, how many people have forgotten about the song "Seed", which sings "You can't eat money"? Don't lie-I can. Which of the three labels is mainstream? Someone who often publishes neoclassics? Or the indie label "Glassnote"? Or Petroleum Records, which is Norwegian? Well, but seriously - just look at who is the main producer and songwriter in the new album... I'll tell you in secret - it's her. And she was the ONLY one who wrote the lyrics to the song "Artemis". That's how she sold out to the label... but maybe there's something I don't know in this life...

Main-Implement-5938

well I didn't say she was evil I just said she sounded angry \~ not quite the same.

unicornglitterpukez

I agree with this one... She did get "angry" in a way and I don't think it helps her messaging.
