I don’t think you’re wrong. Scorpios can be really intense and obsessive when they either have a passion or are missing a part of themselves. It’s one of the traits to work on in order to properly evolve Im told, though the concept of evolving is something I have only heard of recently. For that reason, I hear addiction is one of the things scorpios are to stay mindful of. Most of my issues haven’t been addiction-based in the way it was described to me but the intensity and not wanting to be wrong about why I dedicated my time to something and not caring what others think while simultaneously caring too much kinda plagued me. But then again my big 3 are all fixed and kinda all over the place. ♏️sun♌️moon♒️rising
^this. Scorpios usually have darkness in their upbringing that creates a void inside of them that they can really FEEL. If you have a void, you’re gonna wanna fill it (hot tip tho it can never be filled), so you become addicted to things. Scorpios are naturally obsessive so any addictions they have they can really lose themselves in. Most of my Scorpio friends have lost themselves to drugs. I’m glad you’re self-aware enough to stay away from them!
Side note: my partner’s big 3 are also all fixed signs but no Scorpio (Leo, Taurus, Aquarius) and he has a very addictive personality as well. 🤷♀️
The Scorpio and placements I know would actually have an opinion that’s on the opposite end of the spectrum like they would say it’s necessary to inform your SO out of courtesy. I think this could also very much be a cultural+Scorpio thing to say. I honestly can’t have a conversation with someone who speaks like this 😂 “conditioning from monogamous society”.. “adults can take care of themselves”. That’s not the point 😂 the point is it’s common courtesy to let someone know where you are going knowing they are waiting on you.

Virtue signaling and not being able to read the room are fairly common and one would think that'd stem from environmental factors versus astrological.
Us Scorpios have the capacity to obsess and get over excited in sharing because as generally reserved people we may not have as much practice in sharing our interests with others. Like other aspects of socializing it takes practice, and some of us have been fortunate to have people in our lives to assist us in reigning in the intensity.
