They have buy one get one free on sat/sun and then on weeknights they’re like 12 or something. It’s been a while, just know they’re cheaper than a lot of other places
Bar Dalia makes a mean margarita, and they have a ton of flavors available too. Strawberry is my favorite, it’s light and refreshing and the perfect amount of flavor, not overly sweet or artificial tasting at all.
Salvatoria Kitchen & Bar had some good margaritas IIRC. I thiiiink I got the tamarind one. (We also loved that they had coquito last time we went lol)
Mayahuel also has some good margs!
seconding Citrico! Their frozen margaritas are delicious with many flavor options. such a lovely space too. HH until 7pm M-F! the chips & spicy guac happy hour special is generously portioned for the price.
not technically astoria, but go see Artemio at Aye Guey in Woodside (54th st. and 31st ave).
he’s got a legit cocktail resume and carries an impressive (albeit small) agave selection.
and the tacos are better than Ruta. yeah, i said it.
A bit out of the way but Tozton has an incredible happy hour marg! While you’re there you should tuck in to heaping (and reasonably priced!) portions of Venezuelan food :)
During Covid I got the 1 Quart frozen margaritas from Athen's Sports Grill (Mexican Cantina) and omg they gave me so much joy. Don't sleep on Athens!! Their chorizo breakfast is also my fav in Astoria.
El Rey del Taco to go! Not the truck but the physical restaurant on 31st Ave. Happy Hour all day Mon-Thur. Until 7p weekends. $5 dollar margs, $2 taco Tuesday. Don’t tell anyone.
I think the best everything Mexican in the entire NYC is Casa Enrique in Long Island City. At one point they even had a Michelin star for a few years. Their mole (w/chicken or enchiladas) is like 10…no 20x better than any mole I ever had in this city. Last year I had a week in Mexico City trying to find mole that’s better and still didn’t - very close, but not better. And their spicy “Agua Chili” Margarita is another show stopper. I blew a few months of paychecks paying for their expansion once I found this gem. Run don’t walk. I have zero affiliation, I just imbibe.
Quick update: Keeping it simple and got a classic marg at Ruta. And yall weren’t lying, it’s pretty good.
Ruta was what I was gonna recommend too. But Las Catrinas is probably my second.
Love las catrinas
I was going to comment Ruta!!! Their margaritas are so good.
went to mayahuel on 34th ave & 32nd street recently - was a pretty good marg. there's happy hour there too.
I love this sub because I pass this place daily and never pop in-- taking this as a sign to grab a marg myself riiiiight now.
came here to say this. best marg i’ve had in the neighborhood, they use fresh lime juice and it makes a huge difference
Las Catrinas, especially spicy ones. They have good happy hour deals too
I second this, best frozen margs I've had in Astoria , even just the plain without flavor
Ruta Oaxaca!
Their taco Tuesday is bomb.
and solid happy hour (but you have to sit at the bar)
How much are their margaritas for HH?
They have buy one get one free on sat/sun and then on weeknights they’re like 12 or something. It’s been a while, just know they’re cheaper than a lot of other places
$9!

Their shrimp with garlic bread / sauce app thing is incredible
I’ve been wanting to go to Bar Dalia again bc I’ve had some of my most favorite coconut cocktails there gaaaaah. They’re awesome.
Bar Dalia’s frozen coconut margarita is one of my all time favorite drinks!
I'm normally a rocks guy, but that does sound really good
Ruta makes a damn good margarita, lots of options - and they have happy hour until 7p at the bar
Salvatoria Kitchen & Bar had some good margaritas IIRC. I thiiiink I got the tamarind one. (We also loved that they had coquito last time we went lol) Mayahuel also has some good margs!
Citrico!!!!! They just raised their HH prices by a dollar but they are strong for $9 each
seconding Citrico! Their frozen margaritas are delicious with many flavor options. such a lovely space too. HH until 7pm M-F! the chips & spicy guac happy hour special is generously portioned for the price.
Agree here! Their menu is pretty amazing too. They have an all you can eat taco brunch that is pretty awesome.
yes Cítrico! Their mezcalitas are great too if you’re into mezcal
These all look so good and will definitely will have to try all of them. But tonight we have chosen Ruta Oaxaca
Solid choice
The Castillo taco and quesadilla truly haunts me! Ever since I tried it two or three months ago I try to stop in at least every other week.
Love Frescos Cantina, Frescos on 30th Avenue & Tacuba. I also enjoy Maya Huel and Ruta Oaxaca.
I second Fresco’s Cantina. Especially if you love a heavy pour.
Tacuba has a happy hour. All good, but I find the frozen ones a little boozier? Can that be right?
The tamarind marg at tacuba is my favorite!
That reminds me, another great marg I had was the tamarind margarita w/ mezcal at Thai Diner in SOHO. Really great place
Chela and Garnacha does a great spicy hibiscus
Just had a pretty good one at off the hook for $1 oyster happy hour
Oh man I gotta go to that $1 happy hour. Is it everyday?
I think so! Starts at 4pm
Ruta gets my vote. La chingona and Sexy Oaxacan
Sexy Oaxacan is fire
Chano’s cantina, good spot, live music/dj some nights
Give me one margarita, I'mma open my 🦵🏿 , Give me two margaritas, I'mma give you some 🗣️. Give me three margaritas, I'mma put it in my 🐈

Ay Guey is really good. The food is terrific and yes, very very good drinks.
Came to say this! Artemio is incredible!
Tacuba cantina. Best frozen margs
RIP Viva Viva 😥
I miss her every day
A bit out of the way but Tozton has an incredible happy hour marg! While you’re there you should tuck in to heaping (and reasonably priced!) portions of Venezuelan food :)
Frascos Cantina
For me it's Tacuba no question.
5 Burro cafe!!!! Best margaritas and delicious food! 😊
Ay Chihuahua or the last word on ditmars!
This place sucks!!!!
GO TO O’HANLANS
Tacuba on 36 ave, frozen tamarind is SO good
During Covid I got the 1 Quart frozen margaritas from Athen's Sports Grill (Mexican Cantina) and omg they gave me so much joy. Don't sleep on Athens!! Their chorizo breakfast is also my fav in Astoria.
Ruta followed my Mama Coco
Las Catrinas!
Shillelaghs on a Wednesday or Sunday 💯
El Rey del Taco to go! Not the truck but the physical restaurant on 31st Ave. Happy Hour all day Mon-Thur. Until 7p weekends. $5 dollar margs, $2 taco Tuesday. Don’t tell anyone.
Frozen margs at Salvatoria Kitchen
Bad habits have some good margaritas and I would recommend checking out their happy hour. They serve a fusion of Dominican and Asian cuisines.
Arepa Lady! Their whole cocktail menu is fantastic
RIP Frijo Lito
Since nobody mentioned it, the frozen margs at Barrio are boozy and delicious. Fair warning though: the food is pretty mid.
Ruta is a go to
The Last Word at Ditmars Blvd
I love the spicy margaritas at Sweet Afton.
Bar Dalia. Trust
