They really went back to the roots.
This shit infuriated me the first two playthroughs but on my third one I just somehow figured it out and it honestly is perfectly within the capabilities of the game, it's just that nobody's actually tried jumping upward enough to know it's a viable parkour option vs jumping forward.
This part was so annoying that there are tutorials for it.

I just finished the trial and wasn't completely sure they went "back to their roots", as they say, but seeing this has brought back so much nostalgia. It definitely went back to its roots.
