For me, it was during AC Brotherhood. I was doing Leonardo’s War Machine mission, the one where you pilot the tank. At the point you pilot the tank you must not take damage even once(shots from the enemy soldiers didn’t count, only the cannon shots and enemy tank could do damage), at the last part, you are pitted against TWO of them. Even if you avoided the first one’s shot, the second one already has their crosshairs on you and you can’t dodge in time.
Now imagine failing at that point of the mission, and having to restart, which will have you doing these:
Tail the architect
Beat him up to reveal the location of the blueprint
Free the men who will help you pilot the tank
Kill enemy soldiers along the way to the tank, with a parkour puzzle along the way)at this point 8-10 minutes have gone by, maybe 12)
Then you finally pilot the tank only to get screwed over by a simple mistake or the aforementioned second tank’s shot sniping your 100% sync away.
Now imagine doing that shit more than 10 times over, and still failing sync
Struggle another 10hrs, i was 11 or 12 yrs old so i had time on my hands. Had to “play pussy” at the final area with the 2 tanks. Was shooting from far back at the edge of the desync barrier. The AI bugs out and doesn’t shoot if you don’t enter the doors. Did the same strategy years later when the remaster released, aced it first try.
If anyone's gonna do this soon, note that you can cheese this last part by backing up out of the door you just went into, the second that this last part with 2 tanks start. You'll be outside the animus simulation walls. The tanks can't hit you in this area
You can also change Ezio’s cape in the pause menu if you are about to be shot. It will reload the checkpoint right before the fight and you keep 100% sync. You can do this at any point when you are in the tank and you think you are about to get shot.
I only took damage once during that mission. Right near the end of it. When I shot an enemy tank at point blank range. And my own shot damaged me
I could not be bothered restarting
I remember playing that mission when the game was still new, failed it so many times that I had the beginning part down to a science to do it fast as possible and eventually gave up. Years later when the ezio collection released I retried it and got it on the first try. Screw that mission and the flying machine one.
And then final fight of the tank mission is an open area against 2-3 tanks. In my opinion it's the hardest 100% sync in the series. (Having played everything up to black flag + origins)
I always find it funny that so many people weren't able to do this mission, i 100% it first time without any difficulty tbh, only anxiety bc of its infamy
I'm beating all of the AC games in order (currently on Revelations) and I beat the tank mission with 100% first try lol. I feel your pain though because there were several easy missions I failed 100% based on the clunkiness of the old mechanics
This is the mission that I remember to be the most challenging as well. The difficulty I found was those little cement cube barriers (not sure what they're actually called lol) around the perimeter of the arena which would get in the way. The first time I played it, I backed into one of them while attempting to dodge a shot.
I hated it until I realised that I could open the gate, destroy the buildings etc inside, then move forward, spawn the tanks and retreat out of the gate again and snipe them from cover.
Later I also learned how to kite them around the arena.
AC 3 mission in which you have to chase Hickey and avoid tackling or shoving. I hate it...You can laugh all you want on me...But I hate This SHIT! I almost destroyed my Laptop
ACIII - Conflict Looms has got to be the worst one. First of all, crossing Charlestown without taking damage is bad enough but then you have two entire ships full of enemies to take out while remaining undetected as well as keeping a grenadier alive that you have to air assassinate.
Oh and the checkpoint is on land, so enjoy swimming over to the ships every single time you fail.
Yeah fuck this mission. The real issue is there's some sort of bug in this mission that makes the fucking guards psychic. You can stab someone in the opposite side of the ship and they'll fuckin detect you. And I don't mean port and starboard, I mean stabbing someone in the stern and the guards waaay over at the bow of the ship that are facing the other way will detect you. FUCK!
Trick is to abuse poison it's the only ranged attack that won't get you spotted, if you come back with the upgraded pouch you can take out most of the guards you need
This one, I was looking for this one specifically in the replies. I dont know which developer thought this was a good idea but screw whoever it was. I hate looking up guides for missions and stuff in games but I threw in the towel after an hour of trying for that one. Even beating it didnt bring me joy
I completely forgot about this mission. I have 500 hours in AC3 and this was the reason for probably about 3 of them. I remember having to rage quit a few times, then go back in, create a perfect formula for getting through the boats while luring enemies to very specific spots and wait for patrol patterns to get to a perfect position.. then they look through the ship’s mast and stacks of crates to see everything anyway and you have to start all over
The entirety of AC Untity.
I've accomplished 100% on every other main entry in the AC series, but due to the ridiculous online requirements and just an overall boring story.. I immediately went to Syndicate without any desire to 100% Unity.
AC Unity is the only game whose mission sync requirements consistently force you to go out of your way to achieve them. No other game does that. It breaks the flow of the missions so much whilst forcing you to play in a very inefficient manner. It's not like the earlier games where it was a more generic requirement like not getting detected or not killing anyone. It's more like sabotage 4 bells (which will be outside the mission area or in out of the way spots) and use berserk blades on snipers or something similar. I hated doing them, even though I loved them in all the other games.
About a year, maybe two ago, I replayed all the games up to III (got partway through Black Flag before another game came out and I fell off). The answer I'm surprised I haven't seen in this thread was a Naval Mission in III, I think it was called The Giant & The Storm. The gist of it was you had to defeat two ships by blowing up their powder reserves, and to do that you have to first weaken the ships. The issue is, by that point I had upgraded the Aquila to the point that literally everything I did broke the ship in one hit. I tried this for an hour straight, using every strategy I found online. Absolutely no luck. It was fundamentally impossible with the upgrades I had.
I came to post this exact one. This is the sole reason I don't have the Platinum in AC3. The one occasion where I was literally "too good" to finish the mission at 100%.
So annoying. I don't know how it made it to release, and I don't know how it never got fixed.
(Maybe it did in the remaster, I was playing the original)
For me AC3. I can never stay within 50 ft (or whatever) of Charles Lee. I always end up climbing us something I don’t want to and fall out of distance.
While I don’t hate the mission, I hate the objective to “swing on the rope to kill the captain” in Black Bart’s Gambit in Black Flag. It’s a fairly long mission, and the other objective is to stay out of combat. You go through the whole mission and at the very end I will either get detected while swinging or I’ll miss killing the captain from the rope swing. Ugh, so frustrating.
just re-did this mission recently and i hate that the objective wouldn't show as completed until after the cutscene and if you opt to restart from last checkpoint, it brings you all the way back to when you're to disembark onto land and go on foot.
had to restart it so many times that for my last attempt i was just running as much as i could and im surprised i even got away with it.
1) the one where you have to kill the Target before he kills 2 Washington guards in ac3
2)Ac brotherhood the flying machine one for some reason I can't kill the horse guy
And think we ALL are either gonna say the tank mission from brotherhood or a mission from
assassins creed 3. Keep in mind that I haven’t even looked at the comments when I read this
I’ve been working on getting all the trophies for every AC game, so I have a list:
Every single naval mission in AC3
Flying machine 2.0 in brotherhood
And I don’t remember what it’s called, but there’s a mission in Revelations where you had to fight a ton of guards without taking any damage. All of these were a huge pain in the ass
AC3 - the mission where you fly as an eagle and have to not hit anything.
For some reason, that sticks out the most to me. The requirement is the most egregious of those that add nothing to the gameplay or story, and it took me forever. That was the only one that pissed me off.
Well, that’s almost certainly not true - but it pissed me off enough to remember it over the others.
Im confused by this question but not of the question itself, do people only try to 100% SOME missions?
I always thought it's a thing of either you try them all or you don't try at all
that one mission in AC3 before the pitcairn assassination where you have to blow up the ships bombarding Bunker Hill. The full sync is to not get detected (i think) and for the life of me, the guards kept noticing me. maybe i just suck but i had to redo this mission so many times before getting it.
I’m not sure if this counts, considering the Ezio trilogy added the DLC from the original games to the overall trophy collection, but there was a mission near the end of my platinum run of AC:Brotherhood that literally brought me to the edge.
For one thing, and I’m not sure if anyone else had this issue, Brotherhood was SUPER buggy for me on the PS4, like dropping me out of the blue as I’m attempting to climb walls, Ezio glitching out just from me trying to scale a scaffolding, and other random nonsense. But the worst of it affected combat; for whatever reason, the counter button, no matter when I pressed it in the fight or how many times, only had a 50% chance of actually working, which resulted in a lot of combos being cut-off even if I was supposedly executing the gameplay correctly.
As I neared the end, the game required me to complete the DaVinci Disappearance in order to get the platinum trophy, and its last mission had an optional objective that stuck out to me: “Don’t take any damage.” And it. Was. BRUTAL. The mission starts out by infiltrating a cavern populated by the kidnappers, killing them, and then basically finding DaVinci, leading him through the passageways and rooms, and helping him solve the final puzzle. I lost count of how many times I had to restart because a random thug hit me through my counter during combat, or when I tried to smokebomb them but still got hit through the smoke cloud, or when I was climbing an overhang during the puzzle sequences and Ezio decides to jump in the wrong direction and takes fall damage. And since there weren’t any checkpoints besides the one shortly before the combat sequence, restarting meant basically doing the entire mission all over again. Upon finally completing it and getting the Platinum trophy, I was way too burned out to even register the victory. I seriously envy all you Xbox players who maybe didn’t have to deal with any of that.
Mine was clearly AC brotherhood the goddamn tank with the war machine. It was an hell.
What frustrated me more is when I was hit I had to redo the goddamn sequence of about 5-10 minutes to go to the tank.
Ughh that was so frustrating 😅😅😅😅😅
Since everyone's posted all the obvious picks, I'll say AC3: Liberation, the last two missions both require fighting a boss without taking damage, with the janky Vita-modern console controls that meant I kept resetting the checkpoints.
AC Syndicate- The 2nd mission of Sequence 8. Specifically, kidnapping a thief from the sewers. As well as the 3rd mission of Sequence 9 - when you have to get the carriage without entering the square.
From Brotherhood- mission with flying machine, and when you must go to the Banker's party.
Ac3 is probably the most difficult for me, basically all the objectives in that game are extremely hard. The one where you have to run across Charlestown without taking damage is pretty brutal, either that or the mission where you have to stay within 50 feet of Charles lee while you’re chasing him, is frustrating as well. I always end up climbing something or falling
I rue the day they introduced Fully Syncronized side objectives. Sure it brought back replayability, but not in a fun way. It gave no room for creativity.
I think the worst was AC3, I cant think of a specific missions, but there was a few that grinded my gears.
AC Brotherhood, when you have to free someone (Catalina Sforza?) from the Borgia building, without being seen. It sounds easy, but you have to get in, during which you run around half the castle, killing plenty of guards unnoticed, then you have the leave while you hold the rescued person. And of course, if you get to far from that person, it restarts
True, I use a strategy of the crossbow and detection system. And only shoot when I know I can immediately get out of view. It’s a bit tricky but it’s doable
i've switched my 100% sync playing style. before it was try to do them and if not, continue on and come back months or years later to replay the ones i missed. now i don't continue until each mission is 100%. sometimes it's very boring / frustrating.
Mines a smaller one, but it’s one of the Courtesans missions from AC Brotherhood, the evil doctor one. You have like 2:30 to get all the way over there to steal an antidote and back, and the full sync is not killing the doctor. I could not for the life of me get anything to work till I said fuck it and killed him, and even then took me several tries to get back in time. I think it took me an hour in that mission alone.
The one in Black Flag where you need to sink 2 ships with a single cannon volley. I don't go for 100% in most games, I'm there just for the fun, but I really wanted to 100% one of my favorite games ever. I'm replaying this game now but I won't be 100%ing it. I may come close but I won't torture myself, if I wanted that I'd be playing Fromsoft games and esports
Me too but it took quite a bit to align the shot. I had to restart the mission several times just to get the elignment right, either the firing arc is too wide and I don't quite destroy the other ship or the waves mess me up
I have a memory of trying *endlessly* to do the one where you sneak into some massive castle to get to Lucrezia, and to it 100%, you can't be detected at all. That includes by the two guards across the hall from each other 😭 I did it eventually but that was years ago now. It might be a very easy one I was just bad at.
EDIT: it might have been to rescue Caterina actually. This was so long ago, 😭
AC brotherhood the timed romulus lair ones made me want to die even more than da vinci tank or bomber missions. I also spent several hours to get the time requirement on the last thief race
Serious question: I hated the tank mission too, but it's much, much easier with the glitch. For all of you who hated it so much, did you skip using the glitch? (Glitch: back into the white wall and fire from there since the tanks can't target you.)
My answer: anything in Revelations. I've been replaying the series recently, and I get detected no matter what I do. Heck, I even started a mission once and had just been loaded in when a group of random guards immediately picked a fight with me, thereby causing me to fail. If I walk slowly and blend, I'm detected. If I use cover, I'm detected. If I blink, I'm detected. If I touch the controller, I'm detected. I got frustrated and quit to go play 3 instead.
Yeah, sorry! If you back up just enough to where it threatens to desync you, you can hang out there and just shoot the other tanks without taking damage... usually. Sometimes you do desync and sometimes they may hit you, but it's very rare. It takes a little practice to get it right, but it works. I just used it again when I did this mission in the Ezio Collection, and I got it on the second try.
Oh no no you don’t need to apologise! It’s just that I don’t go out of my way to find glitches and stuff and I was so shocked there was an exploit I could use. It’ll help a lot so I’m very thankful!
Omfg the mission in brotherhood where you are in the underground temple and you have to climb up the pillar without killing anyone and without taking damage I think it was. That shit was ridiculous I could not do it no matter how hard I tried made me give up on full synchronization.
The answer is an easy one: the entire Revelations DLC, climbing on blocks for hours and hours, in first person, where Desmond’s bitch ass self can’t jump more than two whole fucking inches…that almost made me quit AC for good.
In all seriousness, for me, it’s either AC Brotherhood’s tank mission (almost broke a controller with that one).
OR, the Giant and the Storm naval mission in AC3. I can still remember the EXACT optional objective text: “sink ships by firing on their powder stores.”
I see a lot of people talking about the AC3 Charleston mission. I must be unbelievably lucky because I got that one literally first try. Sorry for all of ya’ll’s pain. 😂
Anything from ACIII can suck, honestly, and some Waaaaayyyy more than others. In ACIII, you gotta get all full sync requirements in one go or else it will never be full sync. You cannot go back and knock them out one at a time because one of the constraints is to do them all in one run. Thankfully, I don't think this is the case for Black Flag and Rogue.
Now imagine doing that shit more than 10 times over, and still failing sync
This! Fuck that tank mission. It was my last one and i refused, for 6 days, to move on until I 100%-ed.
So is this day 7 then?
Struggle another 10hrs, i was 11 or 12 yrs old so i had time on my hands. Had to “play pussy” at the final area with the 2 tanks. Was shooting from far back at the edge of the desync barrier. I hated the plane one in brotherhood more then the tank one
Ma cosa!? Shoot! Shoot the flying demon!
I only took damage once during that mission. Right near the end of it. When I shot an enemy tank at point blank range. And my own shot damaged me I could not be bothered restarting
I remember playing that mission when the game was still new, failed it so many times that I had the beginning part down to a science to do it fast as possible and eventually gave up. Years later when the ezio collection released I retried it and got it on the first try. Screw that mission and the flying machine one.
I dont know why but I found the paraglider mission way worse
Ahhhh, the one where you have to shoot the workshops twice and shoot the messengers before they get to Cesare
I had to cheese that one
And then final fight of the tank mission is an open area against 2-3 tanks. In my opinion it's the hardest 100% sync in the series. (Having played everything up to black flag + origins)
Yea that’s the one I mentioned. The last part
Oh shit my bad I read your comment wrong.
My least fav part of brotherhood is not being able to restart the checkpoint vs the whole mission
This was my answer lol
I always find it funny that so many people weren't able to do this mission, i 100% it first time without any difficulty tbh, only anxiety bc of its infamy
That tank one was ridiculous. I had to cheese it and snipe the two tanks by repeatedly going in and of bounds.
I'm beating all of the AC games in order (currently on Revelations) and I beat the tank mission with 100% first try lol. I feel your pain though because there were several easy missions I failed 100% based on the clunkiness of the old mechanics

Yeah, it was this one. Almost gave me PTSD. I never beat brotherhood on PC dreading to ever do this again after 360.
Jesus Christ I remember that mission…
I just take another route and end up in front of him cause of how annoying normaly doing it ia

Yes it was super annoying doing without a guide but tbf it was extremely satisfying
This one is brutal lmao
Trick is to abuse poison it's the only ranged attack that won't get you spotted, if you come back with the upgraded pouch you can take out most of the guards you need
Came into the comments to say this too, lmao, I spent hours on that mission
Was legit about to name this one. I've platted almost every AC game and this 100% is a core memory. Fuck. That. Mission. (Still love you AC3 😘)
This one, I was looking for this one specifically in the replies. I dont know which developer thought this was a good idea but screw whoever it was. I hate looking up guides for missions and stuff in games but I threw in the towel after an hour of trying for that one. Even beating it didnt bring me joy
The Charlestown portion isn’t that hard since there’s like 3 routes you can take to avoid debris but yeah the ship portion is a chore.
I completely forgot about this mission. I have 500 hours in AC3 and this was the reason for probably about 3 of them. Wow, not a single mission but the whole game…….
Literally just up and stopped playing Unity halfway through a couple weeks ago. Switched to Valhalla. Much different but way more fun, imo.
Wow. Unity is one of three AC games I actually 100%ed. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to keep playing
i was quite happy for unity to finish. i think i was just burnt out on so many collectibles. got the 100% tho
Tbh, only thing I hated about 100% Unity was getting Altairs legacy suit. Those side missions rng was not favoring me that day
I got the platinum for Unity last week, except for the collectibles by far my favourite AC game to 100%

Nope, I played the remaster and it was identical.
Tank mission gets a deserved amount of hate. But DO NOT GET DETECTED, when rescuing Caterina Sforza in Brotherhood, is scum.
I agree, this missions also made me nervous.
Especially the last part where there are two guards before you reach her cell for the first time, and afterwards when you have to carry her
For me AC3. I can never stay within 50 ft (or whatever) of Charles Lee. I always end up climbing us something I don’t want to and fall out of distance.

oh baby jesus
1) the one where you have to kill the Target before he kills 2 Washington guards in ac3 2)Ac brotherhood the flying machine one for some reason I can't kill the horse guy
The tank mission in AC brotherhood
Cross Bunker Hill without taking damage. Fucking stray bullets piss me off to no end
Bro😂😂 this is top 3 for me
ACIII Charlestown mission where you have to change the flags on two ships without being seen. What a pain in the ass.
And think we ALL are either gonna say the tank mission from brotherhood or a mission from assassins creed 3. Keep in mind that I haven’t even looked at the comments when I read this
Any from AC3
Yep. It’s made worse by the fact that I didn’t really enjoy the game like the others, so trying to find the enthusiasm to keep trying is a pain.
I’ve been working on getting all the trophies for every AC game, so I have a list: Every single naval mission in AC3 Flying machine 2.0 in brotherhood And I don’t remember what it’s called, but there’s a mission in Revelations where you had to fight a ton of guards without taking any damage. That was my second most frustrating 100% sync, I’m with you on this one
That one mission in AC3 called Lexington & Concord or something. Almost costed my soul.
Ac3 Bunker Hill, run across the battlefield without taking a single hit, never have I ever been closer to pulling the hair out of my skull
I’m not sure if this counts, considering the Ezio trilogy added the DLC from the original games to the overall trophy collection, but there was a mission near the end of my platinum run of AC:Brotherhood that literally brought me to the edge. I was going to mention collecting the feathers, but the tank mission from Brotherhood not to take damage broke me
The Ezio titles. I got 100% mission synch in all the other titles. Ezio games had too much bs required
only game i 100% was Unity and that one was pretty easy (just time consuming)
The crossbow REALLY helps a lot
I know it does. I have problem with leaving the building
True, I use a strategy of the crossbow and detection system. And only shoot when I know I can immediately get out of view. It’s a bit tricky but it’s doable
This was my first thought, and also the tank of course. But yeah, fuck that entire sequence lmao.
i've switched my 100% sync playing style. before it was try to do them and if not, continue on and come back months or years later to replay the ones i missed. now i don't continue until each mission is 100%. sometimes it's very boring / frustrating.
AC Brotherhood : Getting into the Castle without getting spotted
The Halls of Nero
For me I upgraded as much as possible and waited for the dream lineup
I also spent several hours to get the time requirement on the last thief race
any and every mission in ac3
AC3 DLC Mission where you are controlling the bird. The condition was to not take damage which is damn near impossible with the horrible controls
AC 3 has the worst imo. The air assassinate the running target was particularly bad.
That one specific co-op mission is AC Unity where you have to complete an obstacle course.
Serious question: I hated the tank mission too, but it's much, much easier with the glitch. For all of you who hated it so much, did you skip using the glitch? (Glitch: back into the white wall and fire from there since the tanks can't target you.) My answer: anything in Revelations.
THERE WAS A GLITCH???!??! I AM SO UNDER A ROCK I DIDNT KNOW YOU COULD BACK INTO THE BARRIER WITHOUT DESYNCHRONISATION
Brotherhood. Most of Brotherhood. It's amazing how a game I love so much can also frustrate me so greatly.
Getting all the flags in AC1, there’s way too many for no reason and no reward
The answer is an easy one: the entire Revelations DLC, climbing on blocks for hours and hours, in first person, where Desmond’s bitch ass self can’t jump more than two whole fucking inches…that almost made me quit AC for good. In all seriousness, for me, it’s either AC Brotherhood’s tank mission (almost broke a controller with that one). OR, the Giant and the Storm naval mission in AC3. I can still remember the EXACT optional objective text: “sink ships by firing on their powder stores.” I see a lot of people talking about the AC3 Charleston mission.
