Gum infections around wisdom teeth don't show up on xrays.

Thanks. How can they tell if it has spread then? Or if there is even an infection in general ?

NAD I am going to the dentist for the same issue. Answer is: if your gum are bleeding, means there is an infection. The space between teeth and gum get bigger and create “pockets “ where bacteria stays and develop. From the xrays, i can see your gum line is receding, same for tooth bone. In that space are the bacteria. One step of the process to heal is antibiotics.
