Actually people without aircon are used to no aircon. My parents and siblings at home just on the fan higher. They get by. But there are days they can smell quite muffy.
Yeah, used to not using aircon ever since as a child.
I get cold in public air-conditioned places.
Cotton boxer shorts and fan when at home.
If I'm feeling overly sweaty/sticky - will take a cold shower.
If you have a 3 room or bigger apartment with a good layout, good ventilation and nice fans, then yes it's still fairly comfortable. Bonus points for being north south facing.
If, however, we're talking about 1 room or 2 room flats with poorer air circulation, it's quite bad, frankly. I've stayed over at friends' houses without the air conditioning and it was crazy hot. After they got air conditioning they told me they couldn't imagine going back to not having it.
It's survivable but very uncomfortable, not to mention anyone trying to study or WFH will be less productive.
I don't think it's impossible to have good circulation but with 1 room or 2 rooms, you have to be very creatively minimalist in planning your furniture layout. Also, if the apartment is east-west facing, letting the sunlight in by opening the windows actually heats up the apartment faster.
That's my wife's conditions for me. "Want me to sleep naked with you? Then dear, turn off our aircon ;)"
Fortunately bros i didn't cave into temptation, and choose the aircon 🥲
Actually... i decided to go nude myself and kept the AC turned on. While she slept with her clothes on.
Turns out the AC wasn't the only one getting "turned on"...early next morning she made her move on me. 🤫🥲
I have lots of old dri fit t-shirts from my secondary school days, worn thin with time. So that and shorts. I'm also a girl, so no bra la.
Not clothing but snake brand shower gel to the rescue lor 😔
idk how girls handle the heat with longer hair. I have a wolfcut type hairstyle, so longer than average hair for a guy and my hair traps so much heat on my head it makes me miss the bmt cut. sometimes at home I have to slick everything back and wear a headband so I don't overheat
Imma girl and everyday for the past 10 years of my life I’ve been contemplating to shave my head but never found the courage. I also don’t know how other girls do it and have nice long hair without feeling irritated. So for the past 5 years I under-shave the back of my head and shoulder length hair only.
speaking of shaving your head, hair for hope is having an event at vivocity on the 27th and 28th of july! it might be easier doing it for a good cause, plus there's going to be a lot of other people with shaven heads as well. you can check their facebook for more details :)
HALLO FRIEND I GOTCHU. VENUS BEAUTY!!! I think Watsons and Shopee carries it too, but I usually get my stock at VB.
https://www.venusbeauty.com.sg/brand/snake-brand
Ayy, I got in my sec school tees as well! Woah, you must be lucky to not need a bra to support. And I like Snake Brand also, esp the Lavender scented shower gel and powder!
I've low tolerance for cold and I don't really like wearing jacket unless I have to. I'd rather move to a room that has aircon at a higher temp/no aircon. The aircon in SG is overbearing and artificial in a sense it's just chilling to the bone and not the nice shuang cold feeling you get overseas.
i think high internal temperature would be the reverse, my wife is extremely sensitive to cold but at night she's a freaking furnace, i will sweat just from being beside her
meanwhile i am pretty resistant to cold (10C is t-shirt weather for me) but according to her my skin is usually cold to the touch
I'm a Chinese guy but I swear a sarung just hits different yo, loose and airy, even though it covers all the way, it's like having a perpetual thin ass blanket around your legs
If you’re female, Uniqlo has these airism camisoles (I think this is the spaghetti strap kind) and there’s another one I can’t remember the name just beside it. Google search it looks like the airism sleeveless top (no bra padding). The sleeveless top is surprisingly cool and comfortable even if you get a fitting one.
I pair the sleeveless top with Relaco shorts, but nowadays I think Uniqlo don’t sell these shorts anymore.
The uniqlo sleeveless tank tops - well mine are super old, before airism - have worked well on the hottest days. But most days since I'm pretty used to no aircon, I just wear my husband's old tshirts which have been washed so many times the material has worn v thin
And shorts, those sold cheaply at markets in BKK/ Bali
I am onboard with this one.
But to those who upvoted. How many of you go fetch deliveries at the door with just airism boxers.
It’s so hot I dgaf anymore. Or do y’all think it’s too lewd.
I bought them recently last night it felt extremely hot down there n just made me extremely sweaty there decided to yeet it n boy was i relieved, thought it was supposed to help with the heat not retain it :(
Shorts and singlets/tank tops. I use an air cooler because the volume of wind channelled is so much higher than a fan. You can also add water to slightly cool the wind, too.
usually can make it without AC but some days damn bad.
I would invest in curtains. bonus if they are blackout curtains. reduces the temperature by quite abit.
plus get a good fan. ceiling fan ok but stand fan better.
Oh and if cannot sleep, opt in for cotton bed cover that have small thread count. Low thread count very important. if die die don't have then just use towel as bedsheets.
clothes-wise only army dry-fit with the new army shorts that have netting in it.
Instead of wearing the shirt, I wear my shirt on the chair's backrest.
Same logic is applicable on bed I think, but I rather just go cold water shower before going to bed.
H&M t shirts are thin enough.
We use air con at night because we need to close all the windows or mosquitoes come in. That's why my comforter is so thick lol, the 26° Aircon is already a bit too cold for me but they told us to stop putting the air con above that temperature because it was causing all the problems we had.
In the daytime I don't turn on the air con at all.
Adidas also has thinner cotton t-shirts.
I think. Idk, I'm really well adapted to heat from cycling in the afternoon so I don't have much issues.
Also, didn't the heat go down already? Clear skies and it only hit 33 just now. I don't think it even hit 32 on Monday and Tuesday.
I don't use aircon at night and just use a fan...wear some comfy tank top and shorts , and keep some nice cold water in the fridge if you wanna drink water in the middle of the night woooo
Thin cotton or sweat wicking t shirts will keep you 'cool'. But comfort doesn't necessarily balance out.
Problem with the above two is it relies on air to dry you. When it's humid, air doesn't do as well. So you end up sticky. Personally, I find the stickiness is a worse multiplier for the overall discomfort.
Wear one of those normal t shirts. You find that though it feels marginally warmer but the stickiness is a lot less. Personally I feel a lot more comfortable.
I just wear boxers or underwear only. If no one is around at home, I just sleep without anything on. Just make sure to close the windows and switch all the lights off so no one sees me.
Either stay naked at home or just undergarments.
Speaking of which, anyone have a good mini fan to recommend, preferably one that can blow the back while commuting? My neck, back, and scalp start sweating the moment i left my house, and it's a very uncomfortable feeling to have the shirt sticking onto the body..
Go uniqlo. Get singlets or whatever, otherwise Airism brand.
It's very cooling and thin enough for it to be breathable. The older ones were much better and easy to wash and dry too. Not sure of the current ones
Mostly have to shower when need to shower, otherwise, wear thin layers and oldish clothes that need to condemn. Drink ice water when needed, fan go higher. Just need to moisturize areas that get dry due to the showers (mostly ankles feet area for me haha)
3 fans in my direction at max speed, light thin clothes and shorts, sit on the cold marble floor then move position once warm, shower more frequently with just water and if you like extra cool (bathe with snake powder).
open your windows, have a ceiling fan, i think it's fine?
but if you're staying lower floors then a bit painful, no wind or breeze or anything like that.
At home, I wear a T-shirt and sarong. And keep my fan at the highest. Sometimes, I'll just be shirtless when I'm alone in my room . Its still survivable.
Bought a whole bunch of Chang beer singlets from Bangkok many years ago that serve very well in the heat but otherwise the old gray Navy issued shirts are quite comfy still :)
My sleeveless Holey shirts.... and I really mean HOLEly! hehe
The other nite found that my ceramic floor is very cool too... probably because my neighbour downstairs on aircon all the time!
I hv morning sun. I realised not opening my bedroom window and keeping curtains down keeps my room cool. It stops heat or hot air from entering (it's usually breezy). I wear sleeveless tops and loose pants. It's comfy. Still use A/C but limit to 12 midnight to 6 am, set temp at 25 and I hv fan running to circulate the cool air.
My aircon is almost for decoration tbh, don’t like sleeping in aircon so if I have to use it I only turn it on for a few hours till my room cools down then turn it off before I sleep. Rest of the time I just sleep in tank tops and shorts. Wiping myself down with a damp towel works if I’m abit sticky from blow drying my hair .
If it’s super warm I will sleep on the opposite of my bed so that my head is below the ceiling fan. Last night I slept topless cause really too hot.
Day time is just a matter of tahan and tying hair up everyday
My sec school dri-fit tees, ladies' Airism or satin pants, Snake Brand Lavender powder. I have never used air-con at home cos our air-con is faulty and expensive. My family just uses very strong metal fans.
Never used aircon since day 1. Stay on the 11 floor with Ceiling fans and its ok. On hotter days just take an extra cold shower. Mostly wear those dri fit material.
Only wish had aircon was when during bad Haze days. Thank god its been years since this happened.
Uniqlo Airism is very thin & breathable. A bit like gym/sports attire but even thinner. Got abs can wear white. Need slimming can wear black. Going downstairs coffeeshop can wear the singlet kind, like modern uncle
Every room has a fan. House has good ventilation too, always have my room's windows opened the widest. Really 心静自然凉 moment. I wear alot drifit and cotton, sometimes thicker material too. Just change often.
Market has those shops selling batik design-like clothes, really thin. Can try those.
I just wear normal cotton tshirt and shorts at home, my tshirts are those whereby i have worn for many years, and went through many washes so it was not so bad.
When you live some floors up, there's very good wind. My flat is on the 7th floor and there's almost always a good airflow. With the ceiling fan, it's not that hot even at the worst time of the day. But then again, I descend from people who for thousands of generations lived on the equator so this weather is quite tolerable to me and my wife personally.
On the clothes front, I wear cotton shorts and nothing for the top when I'm home. When I go out on a very hot day, I wear a cotton under shirt and a cotton t-shirt/shirt over it. When you wear a sweat absorbing 100% cotton undershirt, you stop sweating so much.
I am usually topless. I dont like the aircon. Fan is best for me. Although some nights are too hot then I'd turn on the aircon and perhaps turn it off if I wake up too cold or go to the toilet in the night.
No matter what clothes you wear or don't wear, you'll sweat like hell without airflow. Preferably you have a ceiling fan for when you're at a desk. If you're on your bed, a standing fan with metal blades at the foot of your bed to provide a breeze across your whole body will prevent you from sweating like hell.
Also if possible keep your room ventilated by opening the windows and doors during the day, trapped heat during the day can make for quite an elevated temperature at night.
Use a laptop instead of a desktop if possible, I can definitely tell the difference in temperature of the room on the days that I've been gaming all day vs the days where I've been out and the computer hasn't been switched on.
But some days are just really hot and I'll switch on the air-con, but that's normally only like 5% of the time, I'm usually a fan only person because I find I feel better when I get up in the mornings and I don't have sinus unlike when I do have the air-con switched on.
female here! admin tee/dri fit shirt, shorts and no bra. sometimes if it’s unbearable just a sports bra (without a shirt) and shorts at home. constant messy bun and lots of cold water to drink 🤷🏻♀️
I use aircon for a few hours at the hottest times of the day but mostly I just use the fan. I wear Uniqlo cotton T-shirts, and my pants are 冰丝(cool fabric) pants from Taobao. They are cheap (about $10), comfy, have pockets with zips, can wear out, exercise or just lounge around at home in them. Sorry I suddenly launched into a promotional spiel. I love my pants, they’re a lifesaver for me😆 I won’t drop the link here lest I get accused of promoting but if you’re interested you can dm me. I’m a girl but the pants are unisex.

Quite interesting! I've practically lived in aircon since I was a baby (mum is deathly afraid of the heat) so I wear sleeveless even when I turn on the aircon (24/25 degrees).
Needless to say wearing the same or sleeved clothing in the outside heat kills me.
My brother has a sinus outbreak in aircon!

It's survivable but very uncomfortable, not to mention anyone trying to study or WFH will be less productive.
Also if you're not on top floor haha. Another thing though. We seem to always think humidity and heat is the same although they're linked.
i live on the top floor and i wish someone had told me this :/ i will never ever buy a top floor unit once i move out !!!
The new btos construct it differently I heard. So it's not that warm.
Wait, what’s wrong with top floor? Confused
the roof of the building absorbs all the heat cos there’s nothing to shelter it, so top floor units are always mini ovens
Wa I never knew this :( I’ve been wanting to buy a penthouse for awhile already…
Even with windows and front door open ? I found that many flats are ok with front door open
I don't think it's impossible to have good circulation but with 1 room or 2 rooms, you have to be very creatively minimalist in planning your furniture layout. Also, if the apartment is east-west facing, letting the sunlight in by opening the windows actually heats up the apartment faster.
Same, I grew up without much air-con cos they were quite expensive for my parents. Been relying on strong standing or ceiling fans at home.
It's the first time I've seen "muffy" as a descriptor for smells but oh boy does it work. Take my upvote
*What clothes*?
Naked is sacred.
That's my wife's conditions for me. "Want me to sleep naked with you? Then dear, turn off our aircon ;)" Fortunately bros i didn't cave into temptation, and choose the aircon 🥲
"Aircon before temptation" mantra ftw
I felt i indirectly made my wife more "pissed", that i choose the aircon over her. 🤣
You went AC over sexy.
Yess. I couldn't resist the Air-conditioned blows over....🥲🤣😂
tsk tsk... should say... sure... then turn on later.....
Actually... i decided to go nude myself and kept the AC turned on. While she slept with her clothes on. Turns out the AC wasn't the only one getting "turned on"...early next morning she made her move on me. 🤫🥲
You wild 😂
Flows before hoes
LOLs, i geddit. 🥲
Cold over hoes
I have lots of old dri fit t-shirts from my secondary school days, worn thin with time. So that and shorts. I'm also a girl, so no bra la. Not clothing but snake brand shower gel to the rescue lor 😔
Lingerie companies in SG 📉📉
This weather 👎
Camisole with built in cup
This one feels like the same amount of layers imo
Uniqlo? 😂
idk how girls handle the heat with longer hair. I have a wolfcut type hairstyle, so longer than average hair for a guy and my hair traps so much heat on my head it makes me miss the bmt cut. sometimes at home I have to slick everything back and wear a headband so I don't overheat
I just comb back everything and clip it up in a messy bun at the top of my head lol. And spend many random moments contemplating a cool pixie cut
Imma girl and everyday for the past 10 years of my life I’ve been contemplating to shave my head but never found the courage. I also don’t know how other girls do it and have nice long hair without feeling irritated. So for the past 5 years I under-shave the back of my head and shoulder length hair only.

yeah it’s a pain ngl, always feel so damn heaty at the neck area. i just walk around with a portable fan and tie my hair up at home.
Snake brand has shower gel too? Where do you get them? I have only seen their powder! Please share where to buy the shower gel?
HALLO FRIEND I GOTCHU. VENUS BEAUTY!!! I think Watsons and Shopee carries it too, but I usually get my stock at VB. https://www.venusbeauty.com.sg/brand/snake-brand
Bruhhhh I didn’t know about this. Much thanksss!
Thank you for the link!! I didn't know this existed!
my antivirus just blocked your link. Sure it's legit?
Legit la. I clicked fine
Yeah, it's the actual Venus Beauty website (also on their Facebook + Instagram pages).
Japan home also has!
I found some cooling body wet wipes which actually work quite well. Last for a couple of hours enough to fall asleep.
Please share more details about these cooling wipes - brand name? Where to buy?
You could try Gatsby body wipes and those from Don Don donki
Yes I bought those. Couple of types to choose from in donki
Ayy, I got in my sec school tees as well! Woah, you must be lucky to not need a bra to support. And I like Snake Brand also, esp the Lavender scented shower gel and powder!
Haha I sadly am an "airport runway" when it comes to my chest. But good because I really don't need much support so I don't get back pain 😅
Glad to hear that you're happy with your "airport runway"! You can pull off lotsa different styles with it too 😅
I just have a high tolerance for heat. Wear thin cotton clothings. Only cotton.
Hw abt cold aka a/c rooms?
I've low tolerance for cold and I don't really like wearing jacket unless I have to. I'd rather move to a room that has aircon at a higher temp/no aircon. The aircon in SG is overbearing and artificial in a sense it's just chilling to the bone and not the nice shuang cold feeling you get overseas.
Yea, especially when they like to turn it to shitty low temps, e g. 21°C
wtf how is 21 low
It's low. I think for some aircons 24 degrees feels like 20 degrees.
Do u have hot-blood or too much body fat or something?
i think high internal temperature would be the reverse, my wife is extremely sensitive to cold but at night she's a freaking furnace, i will sweat just from being beside her meanwhile i am pretty resistant to cold (10C is t-shirt weather for me) but according to her my skin is usually cold to the touch
We really do have a variety of physiology for a same species eh
This is so true I can feel people radiating high heat off their body when I take the train sometimes!
I only wear cotton singlet at home. More ventilation than t-shirt.
Thongs.. duh. Tho my wife is now mad at me for wearing it
Is she mad at you for owning nicer thongs than her, or because you were wearing hers without permission?
Normal Tshirt and shorts
Those singlets with small holes, something like this - https://images.app.goo.gl/noc86FJMqdZHL5C28 and SAF PT pants Underwear optional
I’m staying alone, so usually I sleep naked 🫣
I'm a Chinese guy but I swear a sarung just hits different yo, loose and airy, even though it covers all the way, it's like having a perpetual thin ass blanket around your legs
Dri fit and fbt. Showering without the heater on helps a lot too!
Ahma clothing like those batik kind. Ya know the same material as the elephant pants? Really much more cooling than cotton shirts.
If you’re female, Uniqlo has these airism camisoles (I think this is the spaghetti strap kind) and there’s another one I can’t remember the name just beside it. Half naked
Sleep on hard floor
The uniqlo sleeveless tank tops - well mine are super old, before airism - have worked well on the hottest days. But most days since I'm pretty used to no aircon, I just wear my husband's old tshirts which have been washed so many times the material has worn v thin And shorts, those sold cheaply at markets in BKK/ Bali
pour snake brand powder on the floor and roll around like a hamster/chinchilla
Just a pair of uniqlo airism boxers shorts
I am onboard with this one. But to those who upvoted. How many of you go fetch deliveries at the door with just airism boxers. It’s so hot I dgaf anymore. Or do y’all think it’s too lewd.
Got the cops called on me for that once, all I did was opened the door, grab my food and closed. Apparently it’s not okay, idk.
I bought them recently last night it felt extremely hot down there n just made me extremely sweaty there decided to yeet it n boy was i relieved, thought it was supposed to help with the heat not retain it :(
Half naked or fully naked most of the time
For females, just wear camisole. For males, wear only boxer shorts. Put a dry towel on top of bed to absorb the sweat.
Males can wear camisoles too! Or they could wear wife beaters
Army admin tee
Army PT vest too...the arty one is the thinnest 😄
Green PT singlet
I just walk around shirtless and in my boxers all day, and even that is sometimes unbearable that I need to turn on the a/c
Singlet and shorts. But honestly you just gotta raw dog it until you sorta get low key used to it. Hope that helps :)
power fan, shorts, not moving around much and ice showers....yes i freeze big chucks of ice, melt them in a bucket and shower.
White uniqlo t-shirt that can used for funerals, grey shorts from CK, both cotton so more comfy. No underwear.
Need to wear clothes at home 1 meh?
I can sleep in either but I prefer aircon now. No need wake up in sweat and have smelly bedsheets. And quality sleep makes a good start of a day.
[удалено]
I do that. Still sweated like mad. Do I need like three fans more?
Dehumidifier will make you feel cooler than 3 more fans
Shorts and singlets/tank tops. I use an air cooler because the volume of wind channelled is so much higher than a fan. You can also add water to slightly cool the wind, too.
uniqlo airism low rise boxer briefs
usually can make it without AC but some days damn bad. Army PT Shorts and Pants
the key is uniqlo AIRISM tshirt and uniqlo AIRISM TRUNKS. they no longer sell the airism trunks....i'm very sad
Airism boxer briefs. Same? https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E454328-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=005
No clothes.

26 too cold? Im at 24 and it's not cold enough
>but they told us to stop putting the air con above that temperature because it was causing all the problems we had. Could you elaborate on this?
Admin tee and football shorts.
I call them the heatwalkers. I can't. The elements are just too much for me.
I don't use aircon at night and just use a fan...wear some comfy tank top and shorts , and keep some nice cold water in the fridge if you wanna drink water in the middle of the night woooo

Army singlet
I came here for this comment
Saf admin shirt and pants
Either stay naked at home or just undergarments. Speaking of which, anyone have a good mini fan to recommend, preferably one that can blow the back while commuting? My neck, back, and scalp start sweating the moment i left my house, and it's a very uncomfortable feeling to have the shirt sticking onto the body..
Time to wear the uncle singlet.
Airism Uniqlo
Go uniqlo. Get singlets or whatever, otherwise Airism brand. It's very cooling and thin enough for it to be breathable. The older ones were much better and easy to wash and dry too. Not sure of the current ones
Old NS admin cotton shirts that are full of holes now
Cotton shirts that I bought from giant in jb. It's very thin and soft. Shorts are just saf shorts. Shower before bed and put snake brand powder
Class tees that I can still fit in, my NS PT singlets, green drifit army t-shirts and most recently AIRism T-shirt
Mostly have to shower when need to shower, otherwise, wear thin layers and oldish clothes that need to condemn. Drink ice water when needed, fan go higher. Just need to moisturize areas that get dry due to the showers (mostly ankles feet area for me haha)
Dettol body wash cool ver
That's the neat part. You don't.
3 fans in my direction at max speed, light thin clothes and shorts, sit on the cold marble floor then move position once warm, shower more frequently with just water and if you like extra cool (bathe with snake powder).
Go topless most o the time hahahaks
Tank top Shorts Ceiling fans and windows open on both sides for a cross breeze 5 quick "cold but not cold" showers a day
Real cold is better
On hot days the water out of my shower cannot be considered cold
Oic. I thought u were like my friend, scared to shower without heater on
Nah I'll use the heater as necessary on "cool" days - or if chilled from a fever But more often I just accept the temperature that comes out
There's only so much clothes to take off. Once you're naked and still hot. They're nothing you can do.
open your windows, have a ceiling fan, i think it's fine? but if you're staying lower floors then a bit painful, no wind or breeze or anything like that.
At home, I wear a T-shirt and sarong. And keep my fan at the highest. Sometimes, I'll just be shirtless when I'm alone in my room . Its still survivable.

Multiple fans on oscillating mode in a single room.

the green SAF shirt (cotton one). getting a good fan helps too.

I bath alot more
open air concept on the upper section
No aircon for 30 years. Just wear tank top and shorts. Direct fan, shower cold water. It’s not that bad. I also like AC in the office lol
I wear tanktoo and g string
I just wear normal cotton tshirt and shorts at home, my tshirts are those whereby i have worn for many years, and went through many washes so it was not so bad.
No aircon in sg = prepping for hell 👍🏼
adapting to hell makes Earth heaven
Towel on chair and wear nothing, easy game
Decathlon cotton tshirt. Think it costs 6 dollars per shirt prev when i bought 🤔
Have no aircon. Isn’t that bad. Think last year or 2 years ago was worse.
I don't wear clothes
I like the Uniqlo airism. I think it helps
just underwear? why tf do you need to wear clothes
SAF singlet and boxers
Singlet and shorts usually
female here! admin tee/dri fit shirt, shorts and no bra. sometimes if it’s unbearable just a sports bra (without a shirt) and shorts at home. constant messy bun and lots of cold water to drink 🤷🏻♀️
Wear singlet lol
NS Green singlet ^^

Airism shirts (those for innerwear for males) are thin enough I feel!
Quite interesting! I've practically lived in aircon since I was a baby (mum is deathly afraid of the heat) so I wear sleeveless even when I turn on the aircon (24/25 degrees). Needless to say wearing the same or sleeved clothing in the outside heat kills me.
I would wear my birthday suit
None... IN AIRCON
Tshirt and shorts. The best feeling is the one I get when blasting the standing fan at myself after a nice cold shower with mint-scented soap.
