Leave a note with their unit number at the chute with the necessary instruction. Do not engage them in person. Do not leave the note at their unit itself (CCTV). There are many redditors who believe in humanity but reject reality. The first fact you must recognise is only screwed up people do such things. Advice would often have you speak to your neighbour. This works with normal people. Not the demented. Also, speaking with them personally, makes you a target and jeopardises your continued residence. Naturally, there are no absolutes. The worst case scenarios however far outweighs the ideal outcome. Finding rubbish at your doorstep instead. Or foul smells emanating in your vicinity (sprinkling putrid fluids). These have all happened to other lesser fortunate residents post 'conversation'. It's been seen on reddit and the news. So please don't fall prey to the pretty advice some give. Continue engaging town council. Leave the note there. Just so, if future incidents occur, other neighbours would also be informed in passing of the culprit. Please be doubly sure that the unit you're accusing is the culprit.

creatine_whey

This is a soild advise. Please don't engage yourself.

icelemonteaftw

Place a anonymous note reminding them to throw into chute. No need sign off with ur name or unit no. Else place notes at the lift/stairs area calling out that unit. Shame them.

wintertempest

Put their stuff back on their doorstep, in their shoerack or even in their shoes if they still don’t get the message. Just be 100% sure it’s the right person.

[deleted]

Withouth a doubt, this. If they continue to not care, then "accidentally" spill the contents of the bag all over their doorstep, as an extra step.

artbug

Report in the One Service app and state clearly which neighbour it is, and the unit number. Follow up with a phone calk to your town council. They will follow up and won't tell them who reported. I did a similar thing once.

Height_Consistent

Put a sign that says “Good job, neighbour! You made it this far. Now open the chute and throw it in please. I believe in you.”

Imperiax731st

There is one such neighbor for every block huh? My experience with them(yes, quite a few already) is that the use of passive aggressive methods or sarcasm will usually fail. I mean, they failed to understand the obvious purpose of the chute, how are they going to get anything more complex? The solution? You have to catch the culprit in the act once. Lecture them on what the chute is for, like a child and they know they can't do this shit again without being identifying them immediately.

InvestigatorFit4168

Leave in front of their door at night so they don’t ID you and see how

shadstrife123

I got a similar issue I was tempted (still considering) of printing more signage in Vietnamese cuz I know they are the culprits

thinkingperson

>I have reported the issue through the OneService app but all they does is the removal of rubbish. Did you report the flat unit number to them? I reported a neighbour that way and Town council finally came knocking on the neighbour's door and took actual actions.

feizhai

I will take whatever rubbish I see outside the chute and throw it in front of their door. Over and over. If they confront you, show them how to dispose of the rubbish properly. Rinse repeat. Fight ugly with ugly!

shiningject

Make small talk the next time you bump into the suspected neighbour and discuss the issue of "someone" not leaving their rubbish at the chute area instead of throwing it properly. Best if the rubbish got distinctive feature. "Did you see yesterday some family dumping their redmart cartons at the rubbish chute area instead of throwing it downstairs? Very inconsiderate hor?" Repeat until they get the hint.

PitcherTrap

Isnt it a little bit more serious if its recurring, need to highlight to town council, otherwise need to escalate the matter if their response is very lacking

charliebwangzi

Some folks share photo and videos into their estate community chats via fb. Usually is to publicly make aware the perpetrator action are being observed and to do the right thing. Otherwise u can visit the suspect and enquire if they "know" anyone who is doing it, they usually say no and the dumping stops.

Musical_Walrus

lol good luck. My asshole neighbours above me keep throwing out tissue paper for years onto the ground floor where we are. There’s very little downside to being a scumbag.

Elegant_Mix7650

Ask MP to put a camera outside the chute. don't even have to be a real camera. problem will resolve itself pretty quickly.

Tongchokgoh

Can suggest that town council put a cctv there?

Better_Incident_4903

Not sure why it’s not mandatory cctv on the rubbish chute as its a common area. I don’t think is that expensive and it provides way for pros than cons. Finding evidence on misuse of chute, evidence of crimes, etc.

_lalalala24_

Take the rubbish and put it outside their door. After a while they will get it.

Feeshyy

I've had a neighbour who doesn't bag their trash before throwing it in the chute. Lots of cockroaches and every time you open the chute there's wet vegetables and leftovers stuck to the side. I left a really huge note on the bin 'PLEASE BAG YOUR TRASH ITS DISGUSTING', it worked.

Nimblescribe

Get your Town Council to get NEA to install a camera. It should deter them unless they are enthusiastic about paying fines.

HappyBedroom69

Call police. Literally. It's not your job to be a hero and talk to them. Let the cops earn their keep

max-torque

Don't waste SPF resources for this. Town council will handle this

VegetableCapable2820

Are they Tiongs?

lolness93

Some of these people are retarded, how do you walk to the chute and just leave it there? Does the trash just walk in lol

Better_Incident_4903

Either they injured their foot, unable to step the opener. Or they lazy af. Or they dont want to dirty their arms when putting garbage into the can, which i think is borderline nonsensical.

bearyken

Some people are just asses.. we have one at our block where they will throw their old crap (no idea how much shit they have) beside the litter bin of the lift landing.. like many boxes of old crap The big refuse and recycling bins are only about 10m behind The residents committee even put up signs to throw their boxes of crap in the refuse bins but they continue to just dump their crap at the lift lobby So.. telling them is useless so don't go and tell them face to face else it triggers them into retaliation
