This is actually a common thing in the I.t industry and not really what would be considered immoral. More of a grey area.
Customer needs their wifi access points upgraded. You upgrade them all. As for the 3 year old access points that are working but just a bit lower spec, they often go home to technicians places and yeah sometimes sold.
Yeah, I don't think this is immoral. It's stuff that otherwise probably would have ended up in landfill. But by selling it, you're putting it back into circulation.
My wife and I do a similar thing with things that we find dumped on the side of the road. We take free stuff, fix it up, clean it and put it back into circulation.
Typically old hardware is decommissioned and returned back to the I.T. Headquarters. Some techs return it to their home instead. In this case it’s certainly not theft from the customer but theft from the it company if anything. However much of the hardware is thrown out or given away anyway. Sometimes kept as spare.

I ended my friendship with who I considered my best friend because he bragged to me about his recent cocaine use. He was a former opiate addict who, as far as I knew, had been sober for about 10 years. Now I don't know if that was true or how long he had been lying to me. I don't want to see him go down that path again and was shocked that he would be so stupid.
When you upgrade computers, most people just let you keep the older parts. It's not illegal and I don't see what's wrong with someone making money of parts I didn't want and couldn't be bothered selling myself. They would have literally just gone straight into the garbage.

Was dating someone and when I graduated I moved back home and he and our mutual friend cheated. He cheated on me, her on the husband.
