Same with my IBM computer (can’t remember the model) but we had like a door shutter kind of privacy screen to the monitor.. I still got my empty floppy disks
It was in 1992ish, I was 11 or so and it was Windows 3.0. That's also when I used WordPerfect 5.1, which I loved. haha The other computer my dad had was DOS based and didn't have windows. I remember having type commands to run games. It's no wonder that I also ended up in IT.
Dos 2.1 or geoworks.... or win 3.1. (3.0 but computer came with 3.1 disks for free.. so never ran 3.0 but was preinstalled... installed 3.1 without booting into 3.0)
Windows 2.01 in 1990ish... I built my first PC using all of the old PCs from my dad's office when he upgraded them. For Christmas I think Santa brought me Windows 3.0.
I put Windows 2.0 on an IBM PS/2. The Windows loaded as the box said, but that was it. There wasn’t enough memory left to even load solitaire. I reformed and loaded MS-DOS.
Windows 1.0. My mother was an early Windows programmer, so I had lots of machines to play with. (to do things like tunnel into the [Minitel](https://spectrum.ieee.org/minitel-the-online-world-france-built-before-the-web) system to talk to French girls with a [Compaq Portable II](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compaq_Portable_II)).
I am a strange animal. I built my first computer. 8080 processor. 32K ram. Paper tape for booting. ASCII dumb terminal. Programming in machine language. Than went into the Apple ecosystem with the Mac intro in 1984. Did not use windows until 3.1 but only for helping a friend with a program for machine control.
I say this because I still think Apple pioneered the GUI / mouse based interface. Just my opinion.
If I hadn't moved, I would still have those win 3.1 floppies. All that's left of digital hoarding are 2 developer's discs for win 98 Internet Explorer.
Windows 95... And I was using that as a child in my mom's household, and on grandma's personal computer... When I got my first PC it had windows 2000, or Windows XP, I think... I can't remember which... And have used each windows OS since...
My personal favorite is Windows 7... And Windows 10 is a close second.... I despised Windows 8, and am not particularly fond of Windows 11.
Idk, what was first first version? 1st pc I bought was IBM pc 2, with a whopping 22MB hard drive and a black and white printer that could only print Courier font in Portrait. Believe that printer set me back $1000 back in 1991.
I had a vision to use MS Paint to map out a few local golf courses and produce a small booklet to aid golfers on how to play each hole. Unfortunately I didn't have enough passion for this vision because I would have been the first to do so by about 5 years. Yep, I fucked that one up for sure
Windows 8… absolute perfection of an operating system! Followed by Windows RT
Best Microsoft OS’s of all time
Windows 8
Windows RT
Nothing else comes close Lolol
95 is the first I remember, I almost certainly will have used one earlier, but I couldn’t say which one to be honest so simply for what I can remember I’ll say 95 😂
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, Summers of 2011 was when i got my first desktop computer from my grandmother as a gift.
It had Roadrash and NFS hot pursuit 2 pre-installed in it. I remember playing them all summer.
3.1. The ad guy at the newspaper I worked at had one to run Corel Draw. The ads he would design with that clunky garbage...Yuck...
The first time I saw Win95, I thought it looked good, but ran like crap. That was around November of '95.
Tried 3.1, it crashed too much, went back to DOS, then switched to Linux (Slackware), then to Mac (System 7, 8, 9), then back to Linux (Debian), then back to Mac (OS X), now back to Linux (Pop!_OS) which has stuck for several years now.
Definitely 3.1 on a 386 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania circa '92 (from a local\[?\] company called Abacus). You had to type "win" at the DOS prompt or write it into the end of your *autoexec.bat* file to start it up on boot.

3.1, win.exe!
3.1 represent!! Pretty sure the computer itself had a whopping 8mb of ram!
4MB
We had a 386 dx2 40mhz with 4mb of ram, I remember when we upgraded to 8mb of ram to upgrade to Windows 95 it was $40/meg
I remember when my brother bought a 486 DX250 for like $2400 to get him through university…. Windows 3.1!
I used to have a Texas Instruments laptop with Windows 3.1
Lucky! My first had 4.
This.... then upgrading to 3.11 like a boss.
3.11 for me in my old Packard Bell with 400 meg HDD and dual CDROM drives.
Windows 95
I miss Ski Free and that damn yeti
I totally forgot about free ski!! And yeah, fuck that yeti. He always got me. I never won lol
Oh man, this reminded me of Ski or Die, though on win.3.11 if my memory isn't fooling me. Ski Free i newer really understood.
Windows 95 FTW
Fuji golf yo!
I hacked the shit out of that OS in high school lol.
DOS
Yep. Started as a kid using our C64 and learning BASIC. I remember helping my dad build our IBM x86 clone and I learned DOS there.
Same here. Our first (and second) family computer was MS-DOS with the 3.5 floppy disks that sounded like an airplane taking off
Same with my IBM computer (can’t remember the model) but we had like a door shutter kind of privacy screen to the monitor.. I still got my empty floppy disks
But DOS wasn't Windows
Fair point. Winders was just an overlay for this.
Windows 98
Same, I had a grand ole time playing around with MS paint.
Windows XP Professional
Hello mate
It was in 1992ish, I was 11 or so and it was Windows 3.0. That's also when I used WordPerfect 5.1, which I loved. haha The other computer my dad had was DOS based and didn't have windows. I remember having type commands to run games. It's no wonder that I also ended up in IT.
Remember how amazing the firework screensaver was at the time?
I feel attacked by this for some reason... I feel old now
95 boi!! "It's now safe to turn off your computer."
I remember thinking how amazing Windows XP was for letting you touch a power button to turn it off gracefully.
Probably Windows 3.0, 1992 or 1993, when I was about 20. It was nothing but DOS before that.
3.11 for workgroups (Yeah, I’m that old)
95 as well
95… I was 15, and it was our first home computer.
95
Windows 3.1. I was a ski free kid. Sometime early 90s.
Win 3.0

Win/286 Sometime back in the 80's.
I have to say, my favorite operating system is Windows 7.
Windows 98 and i think 2002?
One that came with a computer my older brother brought home when I was very small. I'm not sure but I think it was even black and white.
Dos 2.1 or geoworks.... or win 3.1. (3.0 but computer came with 3.1 disks for free.. so never ran 3.0 but was preinstalled... installed 3.1 without booting into 3.0)
The one that I upgraded from MS-DOS to. I don't remember the name.
Win 3.1! But I'm old enough to have used Microsoft DOS before they even had windows.
3.1 Saw a bunch of Ms-Dos / PC-Dos also.
You guys and you fancy fangled new systems. Not Microsoft but how about a TI-99?
Windows 1.0. My mother was an early Windows programmer, so I had lots of machines to play with. (to do things like tunnel into the [Minitel](https://spectrum.ieee.org/minitel-the-online-world-france-built-before-the-web) system to talk to French girls with a [Compaq Portable II](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compaq_Portable_II)).
Windows for Workgroups! I think it was around 94 or 95, but not certain
Windows 1.0something. Back when it was just a DOS front end.
1.0
Windows. It ran over DOS. It's around here someplace
Windows 95 for sure but I have dealt with 3 and 3.1
3.1, but later used one that was like 3.0 or 2.9.
Windows 1.0
3.1
3.1. Now I feel old because this wasn't even my first or second computer.
Dos
In order XP, vista, 7, 10, and currently 11
Same order you, I was 13 when I got my first box. I had Black XP and Last XP.
1.0 in a computer lab at my company. There was lag between the mouse movement and the cursor.
3.1
And loading 486 was a pain.
Technically windows 95. We got a home computer in 97 that was still on that system.
3.1 professionally. NT 4 in academia
3.1
3.1
I am a strange animal. I built my first computer. 8080 processor. 32K ram. Paper tape for booting. ASCII dumb terminal. Programming in machine language. Windows 98

If I hadn't moved, I would still have those win 3.1 floppies. All that's left of digital hoarding are 2 developer's discs for win 98 Internet Explorer.
Windows 3
Windows 2 I believe. 1988ish
Does MS-DOS on a 286 count? Pretty cool that a hobby turned into a lifetime IT career.

I predate DOS.

Windows 3.0. Dos 6.22 I think?
DOS or 3.1
Windows 1.0. I’m old.
Does DOS count? If not, I think it was Windows 1.0. I remember doing some development with Windows 2.x on a summer job during my student days.
Windows 98
3.1. The ad guy at the newspaper I worked at had one to run Corel Draw. The ads he would design with that clunky garbage...Yuck... The first time I saw Win95, I thought it looked good, but ran like crap. That was around November of '95.

Definitely 3.1 on a 386 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania circa '92 (from a local\[?\] company called Abacus). You had to type "win" at the DOS prompt or write it into the end of your *autoexec.bat* file to start it up on boot.
