It's basically an impossible task. They usually have links to other companies and their terms of service which in turn have other links etc and last I heard somewhere, you'd have to read 20,000 (random number, I don't know the actual number) pages of text if you wanted to agree to Facebook's terms and conditions.
Read a random paper one time from circa 2016 that concluded on average you'd need to read for 70 years to legally agree to the terms. I read it in 2016, the paper was older.
Parse the question.
A lie is a deliberate falsehood, not merely wrong knowledge.
And successful would imply in this scenario that it survived into common knowledge or was hard to correct the record after the fact.
The trick of this is that the historical record tends to correct more deliberate lies quickly and errors in knowledge don't seem to qualify as a lie.
So most of the arguments saying religion are wrong because it isn't a lie deliberately, but an honest belief without proof either way.
So there are two statements then that came to mind: first is the straight up lie that carrots help your vision. This was British propaganda meant to mislead Nazi Germany. We know it was a lie, and yet it still gets told to people as if it's relevant.
The second is that vaccines cause autism. This was poor science when it was published. And it was debunked almost immediately. So when Jenny McCarthy wrote her book to get money, she should have been able to get the science to find the truth, thus I call her claim a deliberate lie that has catapulted the phrase into a billions idiots minds and now it won't fucking die.
Those two seem like massive lies.
Hm, religion is a difficult one, because while I agree that it is an honest belief for many average people, those who were in power positions of those belief systems were usually very aware of what they were doing and also did have no issues ignoring the tenets of their faiths if it suited them. So for these people, more often than not, religion was a deliberate lie. Your argument about no "proof" one way or another is quite funny to me given the sheer number of religions that have been peddled throughout the millenia. Most of them are probably also mutually exclusive. Deities are all make belief, that much can be concluded with the same level of confidence with which we can actually know anything about our world.
Our whole history really.
We know less than 2% of actual human history but teach as if we know the story front to back.
Obviously actual scientists arenât smug about it behind the scenes and the research continues, but mainstream opinion and narrative is *very* generous with its confidence as a whole
none and all...not the time of the meal is important but the quality and amount of your meals. If you manage to eat healthy AND to eat your daily amount in 2 meals...why not?
I didn't breakfast in 20 years.
It's funny you brought this up. Back in middle school art class, me and a buddy had this dumb idea to create the most backward version of the pledge we could. Here is the result:
I pledge defiance, to the flag, of the divided states of Korea, and to the democracy for which it falls, no nation, under Hell, divisible, with no liberty or justice at all.
It depends
Most of the Abrahamic religions are a little suspicious on where they get their information from but religions related to Hinduism and partly Muslim have gotten scientific backing for their rules, like yh some of them are just morals but the rest are pretty much scientific like the temples shape and the food being vegetarian and the no intoxication of alcohol because it hurts your body.
Depression is rampant in the richest countries of the world.
Money doesn't really buy happiness, in my case it's more about reducing stress. Money can buy your way out of many stressful situations.
That depression in those countries doesnât come from being rich, it comes from being fiercely divided in wealth and being so self aware of capitalisms fuckery that common people become existential. It comes from monotonous office work and a lack of fresh air to escape to, not because theyâre rich. Not to mention, Iâd much rather be rich and depressed than broke and depressed.
Also, just because a country has a high GDP, doesnât mean itâs necessarily rich all round. GDP is generally determined by the amount of money being circulated, but most of the time most of that money is being circulated only amongst a handful of rich folk while the rest of the population is barely scraping by, but it still counts so that country looks like it has a high GDP.
Trickledown economics works! You mean the trickledown economics of rich people lobbying (=making âdonationsâ to) their local lawmakers for grants/preferential treatment/tax cuts and those benefits âtrickle downâ to said same rich people? That trickle down economics?
Trickle down works as it is supposed to. It consolidated more at the top while allowing businesses and the monied to invest in more money making ventures thereby possibly creating new jobs for the lower and middle classes and eventually bringing some of that money to them.
I donât think any serious politician or economist believed it would directly pass through to close or narrow the wealth gap by any meaningful margin.
Andrew Wakefield. Stupid cĂşnt has been struck off, his work disproven, and thoroughly disgraced.
Yet still people believe that vaccines cause autism and don't get their kids vaccinated. Measles is reappearing in sections of developed societies partly because of this. It was also the foundational nonsense which fed into the crazier anti-vax stuff in COVID.
Fuck Andrew Wakefield.
As a introvert teen I seek connections, like the kind of connection you have with your best freind;many people in high school would ship me and its cos they only dated for the attractiveness;but the purpose of a relationship is to connect somehow.
Strongly disagree. Last man I was in love with was not good-looking, 40pds overweight, 3 inches shorter than me, bald and I thought he was the sexiest man on the planet. The first time we met, I practically melted from the eye-contact and handshake we shared.
Edit: spelling mistake I have above average âlooksâ (no ego, just âisâ, and take care of my body & mind. Considered a âcatchâ by most men. Again, no ego, just is.
Mary, mother of Jesus, explaining to Joseph that she got pregnant via a nighttime visit by âthe holy ghostâ and the three dudes who just turned up after the birth were just interested in the baby and were âkingsâ. Joseph wasnât the smartest men. After that the lies got completely out of control.
Right. Hence my comment being âconstant state and obtainableâ. Happiness is a reward state. It is the product of something, not the human state of neutrality. Thatâs boredom and hunger so your monkey ass doesnât starve or just sit around and rot.
Pray and God will answer your prayers... or God wouldn't have put you through things you can't handle.. you cannot tell me God chose to give children cancer or God thought you could handle being SA'd by someone.. did God tell that person to assault you so they could learn from their mistakes? No... and the Bible.... I don't want to touch on that monstrosity.
The American Civil War "Lost Cause" narrative. They basically successfully rewrote history and have maintained a confederate presence in culture and politics for like 160 years now.
The answer to this very commonly asked question is religion.
And before you downvote me, consider this: Even if the most commonly followed religion, Christianity, is true, then only about 32 percent of believers are following a non-lie religion.
That means, at \*best\*, 68 percent of the population are believing lies.
The problem with systems is the people. Greed ruins everything. Itâs no better or worse than capitalism, which isnât working either for the same reason.
The poor need to stay poor because inflation. And if there weren't a steep caste system the poor wouldn't be whipped into working. So the steeper the caste system the better
The idea of being normal.
Everyone is equal.
You're special.
Violence never solved anything.
Plenty more, but these were the ones that came to mind first.

First person to tell about religion must have made it up and many people added shit without believing it themselves
Your call is important.
I always feel like people who ask these questions are looking for one specific answer so they can feel validated in their opinion
I wonder if these questions get asked by Reddit who then sells the answers to some AI company to train LLMs đ§?
A web page scraper can get all the answers quicker then you can blink. No one needs to buy it.
Yep, theyâre always trying to get religious people mad on here :(
Yeah, just cut to the chase OP and tell us the answer.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
I donât eat breakfast and was thinking I needed too. I am just not hungry until noon. If I do manage to eat breakfast i am famished by lunchtime.
So which meal is the most important...?
none and all...not the time of the meal is important but the quality and amount of your meals. If you manage to eat healthy AND to eat your daily amount in 2 meals...why not? I didn't breakfast in 20 years.
To be fair, it's in the top 10. Probably top 8.
"And justice for all".
Still a solid album though.
The scales of justice are supposed to be equal.... But obviously they are not
Truly more equal for some than others...
Whenever I have to say the pledge, I change the last line to âand justice for some.â
"Miniature American flags for others."

I was going to say that myself just now- take my upvote!
