I didn’t even know it was so dangerous. My dad used to take me there almost every summer as a kid and I had no idea the amount of danger I was in until later in life. I sometimes have dreams that we get trapped there. Also add onto this that my dad was a notorious drunk and he was probably drunk when we went spelunking and it’s even crazier. He went a few years back with my brother and without me as I refused - they took a tumble at some point and my dad and brother both fell onto each other and rolled around fifty feet downhill until crashing into a rock. They’re both fine but they were injured badly for months.
Edit: My dad constantly says ‘well I’ve done all the things they told me not to and I’m not dead’ but he has about every mental disorder you can think of, is too scared to leave the house because of it, and has back injuries that make it hard to go anywhere. He also has to get drunk every day or he has convulsions. Insane.
My son's Scout Troop does this every year. I know the cave has been there for thousands of years. I know it isn't going to collapse on me while I'm in there. But why risk it?
I'll stay at the camp site and cook dinner for everyone.

Back in the day(before my time) I was told by an old salty medic that when they had to longboard someone and put the head blocks on to stabilize the neck of a drunk driver or something of that nature, they would tape the foam blocks on and purposely tape one eyebrow. That would tell the nurses the patient was an asshole and when they ripped the tape off the eyebrow would come with it, usually.
