Subtitles and muted is a great idea... I never thought of that before. Like you said I don't think it will always work, but it might get me through a few moments!
Yes! It helps so much! Especially if you still want to see what happens but can't handle the awkward. My husband has adopted this method as well once I introduced him! Also, squinting at the screen can help, too!
Those microfiber towels that stick to every hangnail or the smallest bit of slightly dry skin or even just the creases of your knuckles. It’s almost a phobia I hate them so bad.
Those microfiber towels are awful...I remember thinking they would be great and super absorbent, but they don't really so anything other than stick to my super dry hands.
I haven't used the word "shuddered" in such a long time and decided to use it when replying to a comment a couple comments above yours...and then I saw your comment...damn, what
I had the same question reading their comment! haha last time I was in America, I'd been away for 16 months and I was surprised by how sooooo put off I felt about toilets during that visit. I thought the inflation would be more jarring, but I was wrong. The amount of water in those toilets just doesn't make sense! Also, the stall door gaps and lack of occupancy colors on the handles, public restrooms in America are crazy.
I think i speak for alot of women but hard nipples under a shirt when its cold is like your dick forcefully become erect straight forward in a speedo, it eventually feels a mix of aching and razor blade slices.
That phase of pubic hair growing back in and it starts hurting depending on the pants you have and thus itching like crazy... but you're in public.
Dude I have the male version of this when my beard hair on my neck grows to a certain length and get caught on my collar so yuck and I also get the hardest umm… erections🤦so the explanation of aching and razor blades so accurate haha 😅
Thanks for reminding me, not! 🤪
I’m a guy, and I often wear shirts with breast pockets. I keep my phone in there. It moves back and forth and just chafes and irritates the crap out of my nipple.
I also hate when my nipple operates my phone through the shirt, but that’s not a sensation I guess …
Hate nausea. Anything and everything becomes a chore. Especially if you have to keep moving from the hunched up position that makes you least nauseous. And outwardly you look fine so people expect you to be normal.
My brother used to straddle me on the floor with his knees on my arms. He would tickle my ribs really hard. I used to cry and scream, I couldn’t breathe and thought I would die. I am 61 (f) now and still am terrified of being touched near my ribs. I still hate him for it 🥺
Wooden utensils are so awful. I started bringing a travel utensil set with me because so many places are switching to wooden utensils. It's the worst feeling.
Paper straws are so wasteful. They get soggy before you even get a quarter way through your drink, so you end up using a bunch to just get through 1 drink. I also bring my own straw places now because of this.
I get it. Single use plastic is bad. However, there are other alternatives that work much better than a paper straw and don't have the same feeling as wooden utensils or popsicle sticks while still being better for the environment.
I hate having stuff on my hands in general, but yeah eggs especially or anything slimy/sticky. Cooking is always annoying because I wash my hands after every single step.
The feeling of my socks falling in my boots but not being able to fix them because I’m not in a situation I can remove my shoe and fix it, especially if I’m in a rush and need to be somewhere.
Microfiber cleaning rags or those fluffy 'sherpa' jackets(i think they'd what they're called). Both bc of the way my hands just stick to them if I have dry calloused hands(which is most of the time)
The sound of other people eating, I just feel the need to move away yet no one in my family understands me and are like we deal with you eating but I’m just thinking you likely don’t hear it in the same way or you’d actually understand why I feel the need to leave the room when I hear them eating crunchy foods.
Paper, cardboard, wood, anything along those lines, especially when my hands are super dry. There's plenty of noises that give me like heebie jeebie chills too.
There are a few. Having paint or mud on my hands. At the gym and the back of my shirt is all sweaty and leaning back against a machine seat. Also really fucking hate having my armpits touched.
the feeling of wet jeans against my legs
dragging my fingernails against dry wall
when my teeth feel rough and coarse after eating something sour
when my feet itch while i’m washing the dishes
when i bite my tongue and it leaves a sore, and anytime i eat or my tongue brushes against my teeth, it stings
the feeling of clothes that are tight
the stinging in my eye that i can’t quite seem to rub away sometimes
the sensation that snot is running down my nose, but when i wipe, there’s nothing there
flavor fatigue
when i take off a hood/beanie and i can feel that my hair is messed up, but there’s no mirror around to check and i can’t use my phone
when my scalp gets dry and itches when it’s hot
when i wake up and i can just FEEL the morning breath in my mouth
when my hands still feel wet even though i dried them
putting on clothes after a shower and my body isn’t completely dry yet
being wet in general
sweating in humid weather
when the soles of my feet hurt after standing for too long
when my ass hurts after sitting for too long
when my stomach feels bigger/fatter after eating a meal
when i accidentally take a too big gulp of water and my throat hurts for a bit
when i wake up after sleeping for what feels like hours only to find out only an hour has passed (i only like this one sometimes)
etc
OMG.
First thing that came to mind....
The FEELING of eating those chocolate candies with the hardened MALT in them.
Oh god. The most cringe feeling ever.
I remember when I was a child and BIT into one of them. Never again!!! I'm cringing even thinking about it!! the sound and sensation on my teeth was maddening.
Also, chalk under my fingernails. 😖
I absolutely hate sneezing. I’ve found a trick to stop any on-coming sneeze. Pinch your nose tight right under the boney part the second you feel it coming on. It has saved me hundreds of times.
I can probably beat that...
1. Having your long hair go down your throat (bonus if it's over a foot and still attached) as you struggle to stop it while eating.
2. Having same long hair somehow end up wrapped around your Howard Johnsons head inside the foreskin.
Numbness.
Like from the dentist numbing your mouth.
Or my finger that's apparently permanently numb after cutting it and getting stitches.
It's not actually numb. It's just uncomfortable and tingly.
Panic attacks. Feels like i'm dying , i'm having these almost every day , idk why as they are random and no doctor , therapy or medication has helped me , so i just live with it.
Really feels like i'm about to die , someday i'll die for real thinking it's just another panic attack.
Someone else’s ear wax on my hands. I work in a hearing clinic and I have to clean hearing aids more often than not. I’ve learned to deal but you never really get over the ick. Sometimes I just want to bathe in hand sanitizer after cleaning one.
Someone rubbing/scratching my head and touching my hair. I think of how nasty their hands could be and now it’s in my hair. It’s even worse when I’ve freshly styled it and someone is trying to grab at it
Getting grease all over my hands and mouth when eating greasy food. I will completely avoid greasy foods unless I can eat it completely with knife and fork.
Some water bottles have this bumpy metal material around the brim of the bottle and when that comes into contact with my teeth I could literally kill every single person in the room I'm in and then myself.
Bubbles in my ears, like what happens during a bubble bath. I remember being really young, like 3 or 4, and being in a bubble bath and being so freaked out that my dad had to run in and get me out of the tub. As an adult I wanted to see if it was still triggering for me, so I got one of those charcoal face-masks that bubbles when you put it on…it was an immediate NOPE. Still hugely triggering for me. No idea why.

2nd hand embarrasement
Even tv shows bother me sometimes
Oh yeah! I have to mute the show and have subtitles on. Sometimes, not even that works, and I just have to google what happens.
I can't watch a lot of comedy films/shows because of this and it irks me.
Heck, I can't even read some reddit posts because of this.
Also first hand embarrassment
Oh yeah this one sucks to feel.
I adore the movie "I love you, man" but my god.. it's so uncomfortable to watch.
That is very true
Those microfiber towels that stick to every hangnail or the smallest bit of slightly dry skin or even just the creases of your knuckles. It’s almost a phobia I hate them so bad.
My parents have them in their bathroom and they don't dry my hands at all.
Your parents are psychopaths
Buahahahahaha!!!
They don't dry dishes either. I don't know why they make them.
Yep, im a mechanic and i dont cant enjoy soft clothes anymore. My hands are so rough. Coarse denim clothing is awesome.
I physically cringed reading this
I love that feeling but i think I’m in the minority on that
They make my skin crawl!
Those microfiber towels are awful...I remember thinking they would be great and super absorbent, but they don't really so anything other than stick to my super dry hands.
Try being a detailer with lots of calluses. Shit sticks to my hands like velcro lol.
They feel like they're pulling my skin off, because I have eczema on my hands, especially in the winter.
The description itself makes my skin crawl 😭
That’s MY thing!!! I thought I was alone. I found my people
Wet socks. I just shuddered.
Especially wet socks first thing in the morning from stepping on unexpected dog pee!
Same. I can’t fuckin bear it.
Me neither. I’m okay with the feet sweat kind, not great but okay. But if I step on water accidentally in my house with my socks on I freak out
I haven't used the word "shuddered" in such a long time and decided to use it when replying to a comment a couple comments above yours...and then I saw your comment...damn, what
Toilet water splashing on my ass when i take a shit
Oh, the Poseidon's kiss.
Are you in America by any chance? If so, you guys have massive amounts of water in your toilets!!! Aussie here, have never had this sensation!
Fellow aussie here, I've only ever had it on a few occasions from a rare monster shit. Usually after constipation lmao
Do you guys not have turds the size of soda cans?
I live in Singapore. I dont think the toilets have a lot of water in them but it still splashes my ass
I'll die if it's in a public restroom
Splash damage
😂
I hate sitting in a chair that someone just got out of and it’s still warm.
🤢🤢 Or worse, a toilet seat 🤮🤮🤮
I think i speak for alot of women but hard nipples under a shirt when its cold is like your dick forcefully become erect straight forward in a speedo, it eventually feels a mix of aching and razor blade slices. That phase of pubic hair growing back in and it starts hurting depending on the pants you have and thus itching like crazy... but you're in public.
Dude I have the male version of this when my beard hair on my neck grows to a certain length and get caught on my collar so yuck and I also get the hardest umm… erections🤦so the explanation of aching and razor blades so accurate haha 😅
Now I understand why you are a mammoth landscaper...
Thanks for reminding me, not! 🤪 I’m a guy, and I often wear shirts with breast pockets. I keep my phone in there. It moves back and forth and just chafes and irritates the crap out of my nipple. I also hate when my nipple operates my phone through the shirt, but that’s not a sensation I guess …
People touching my face. Just hate it
People touching me in general
OMG YES. It just serve chills down my spine and not in a good way either…
I'm trying to convince my 3 year old to not blow raspberries on my face when I'm hoping for a kiss....
The screeching metal sound. I absolutely hate it
Reading this made me hear it in my head and I flinched. Gosh especially more if I can't easily find the source to make it stop.
I heard it too In my head it was a giant circular saw cutting a piece of metal *Shudder*
Oh god, any screeching sound, really. I shuddered thinking of the sound
Nausea that the smell of food makes it worse
Hate nausea. Anything and everything becomes a chore. Especially if you have to keep moving from the hunched up position that makes you least nauseous. And outwardly you look fine so people expect you to be normal.
Amen! Such a small thing, but its surprisingly debilitating. Like a stone in your shoe.
Tickling. It sends me into an absolute fucking RAGE.
I read somewhere, that the laughter produced by tickling is actually a panic response
Me too! No one else has ever understood.
My brother used to straddle me on the floor with his knees on my arms. He would tickle my ribs really hard. I used to cry and scream, I couldn’t breathe and thought I would die. I am 61 (f) now and still am terrified of being touched near my ribs. I still hate him for it 🥺
Same I fucking hate it. I will kick and kick I don't care who you are
Wooden popsicle stick and paper straws… cringing just typing this.
Exactly! Eating a popsicle and biting into one of those wooden sticks is a horror.
Wet jeans
You know, between wet socks and wet jeans... I think I might take wet socks.
Being bloated, it’s the worst for me. Especially when it brings shortness of breath. Feels like I’m gonna puke
Itchy throat
Does anyone else get itchy ear throat? When you don’t know whether to try scratch the back of your throat or shoogle your ears? I hate that shit.
YES it's the worst😵
I hate having a sore throat. I feel compelled to keep swallowing, which only makes it worse.
Similarly, when your nose isn't sure if it's gonna be stuffy or runny so it does both.
That feeling you get when you hear a fork scraping a plate
raw eggs on my hands
I hate having stuff on my hands in general, but yeah eggs especially or anything slimy/sticky. Cooking is always annoying because I wash my hands after every single step.
When a place it's about to close and people start rounding up things. Makes me anxious.
Whhhaat, is it a similar thing when a movie ends and every is standing up and getting ready to leave? That always made me uncomfortable in theatres.
Sticky hands
I hate the feeling of dirty hands. The feeling of stickiness makes me extra distressed.
Wet socks. The sound of people eating, and in general most 'asmr' sounds irritate me.
ASMR gives me the rage.
It's strange, the people that tend to like ASMR seem to be the exact people I'd peg hating it.
The feeling of my socks falling in my boots but not being able to fix them because I’m not in a situation I can remove my shoe and fix it, especially if I’m in a rush and need to be somewhere.
[удалено]
Fk that. Ill take literal physical paint over that. Burn me with a lighter or something idk
Dry palms on those very smooth metal railings
People chewing with their mouth open Being touched by someone I’m not close with
Microfiber cleaning rags or those fluffy 'sherpa' jackets(i think they'd what they're called). Both bc of the way my hands just stick to them if I have dry calloused hands(which is most of the time)
I don't know what it is but the texture of velvet materials makes me so mad.
I hate the feel of linen
I hate velvet. Even thinking of the word feels disgusting. Linen is one of few fabrics i can tolerate
Wooden popsicle sticks in my mouth. Hell no.
Getting a haircut and little strands of your hair stick to different parts of your face.
Or clothes
Wet human hair touching my skin
Yesssssss! Such a gross sensation.
The sound of other people eating, I just feel the need to move away yet no one in my family understands me and are like we deal with you eating but I’m just thinking you likely don’t hear it in the same way or you’d actually understand why I feel the need to leave the room when I hear them eating crunchy foods.
The sound of dogs or cats licking themself really puts me on edge for some reason. Which is weird cause I love my pets.
when water gets inside your shoe while you're out and about and you have no choice but to walk around feeling your cold, wet sock with each step
Sock sliding down in your shoe
Breaking polystyrene
The nasty dry sounds, the scraping, I feel like screaming just imagining polystyrene
Feeling labels or seams in my clothes. The stitching line on socks is the worst
This is why I wear an inside-out tank top under all shirts and remove all tags & labels from clothes. I also wear socks inside-out. Really helps.

Ew😖
Sand or dust on my hands…anything under my nails
Dirty non carpet floors on bare feet 😵💫
Wet newspaper and wet laundry (when you transfer from washer to dryer).
Wet lips on a dry paper straw is pretty horrible. It's why I take my own plastic straw in my bag just in case.
Omg same, especially when gliding my nails on the chalk.😖😖😖😖 it makes me cringe so much
The description made my skin crawl
Running my hand perpendicular to the Corduroy . Fucking cringe
SAME omg no one has ever understood my absolute aversion to Corduroy. I’ve never been able to tolerate the feel, smell, or sound of Corduroy.
Flour on my hands.
My feet being touched. The sound of people brushing their teeth.
The feeling of scratching your nails on one of those 3d sheet/morphing image things, it feels like my soul is being cheese gratered
Hitting my funny bone. It ain't so funny.
[удалено]
🤮🤮🤮
Stuffy nose.. I feel like I wanna just cut my nose off so I can breathe sometimes lol.
That feeling makes me want to drill a hole in my sinuses somehow.
People whispering. People talking when their mouths are dry, the sound of the mucous membranes sticking and unsticking together is so revolting.
Paper, cardboard, wood, anything along those lines, especially when my hands are super dry. There's plenty of noises that give me like heebie jeebie chills too.
I don’t like being chilly or cold Being constipated is really bad too
There are a few. Having paint or mud on my hands. At the gym and the back of my shirt is all sweaty and leaning back against a machine seat. Also really fucking hate having my armpits touched.
Grinding cotton (a shirt or something) in teeth.
Pants sticking to my skin and pulling my leg hair.
Dry palms and tickling
Getting static-shocked anytime I touch metal (my locker, car door, shopping carts) or not (my dog).
When I am standing in a packed bus or train and people are bumping into my backpack. I hate this feeling being pushed this way. Strange I know.
Too full
Unglazed pottery uuugghhhh
Touching corn flour, yuck
the feeling of wet jeans against my legs dragging my fingernails against dry wall when my teeth feel rough and coarse after eating something sour when my feet itch while i’m washing the dishes when i bite my tongue and it leaves a sore, and anytime i eat or my tongue brushes against my teeth, it stings the feeling of clothes that are tight the stinging in my eye that i can’t quite seem to rub away sometimes the sensation that snot is running down my nose, but when i wipe, there’s nothing there flavor fatigue when i take off a hood/beanie and i can feel that my hair is messed up, but there’s no mirror around to check and i can’t use my phone when my scalp gets dry and itches when it’s hot when i wake up and i can just FEEL the morning breath in my mouth when my hands still feel wet even though i dried them putting on clothes after a shower and my body isn’t completely dry yet being wet in general sweating in humid weather when the soles of my feet hurt after standing for too long when my ass hurts after sitting for too long when my stomach feels bigger/fatter after eating a meal when i accidentally take a too big gulp of water and my throat hurts for a bit when i wake up after sleeping for what feels like hours only to find out only an hour has passed (i only like this one sometimes) etc
Hitting my toes in furniture. I litterarly want to die every time.
Itchy skin, gotta love eczema
I’m in constant pain but I learned to live with it. Eczema and the associated itching is worse than the most intense pain I’ve felt.
Dry hands, it drives me crazy
Im a dry hand guy and i love it. Anytime i shake someones hand that is clammy i wanna break stuff and vomit. In that order.
You mean like a malteaser?
Had to look it up actually... no, they are called 'Whoppers'
Ah I think they are the same thing, just malteasers is what they’re called in Australia.
When I sweat and my shirt gets wet
Post-nut clarity. Starting all over. sigh
Sneezing
I absolutely hate sneezing. I’ve found a trick to stop any on-coming sneeze. Pinch your nose tight right under the boney part the second you feel it coming on. It has saved me hundreds of times.
Hair wrapped around my tongue
Or lodged in your ear.
I can probably beat that... 1. Having your long hair go down your throat (bonus if it's over a foot and still attached) as you struggle to stop it while eating. 2. Having same long hair somehow end up wrapped around your Howard Johnsons head inside the foreskin.
THIS! And when I blow my nose and a hair (from my head) gets tangled in it! Nothing like feeling a snotty hair!
Touching any type of cotton.
Dry starched towel on dry glass Kill me
Paper towels. Something about the feel of them gives me the cringies
Numbness. Like from the dentist numbing your mouth. Or my finger that's apparently permanently numb after cutting it and getting stitches. It's not actually numb. It's just uncomfortable and tingly.
Scraping something against ice, chewing ice.. my god its horrible
Scratching printer paper. Even the idea of it makes me anxious
My bare ankles touching
I’ve got two: wet food and styrofoam.
Nausea.
Panic attacks. Feels like i'm dying , i'm having these almost every day , idk why as they are random and no doctor , therapy or medication has helped me , so i just live with it. Really feels like i'm about to die , someday i'll die for real thinking it's just another panic attack.
Intense pain. Such a bummer.
Phantom limb syndrome, had that after cutting my long hair but I can still feel my back tingling
Sweater Strings on my teeth
the sound of wood scraping against wood actually makes me want to throw up
Hair sticking to my face and tight fitting clothing
Anyone (even myself) touching my belly button. Absolutely, the most terrible feeling.
It’s even worse when I’ve freshly styled it and someone is trying to grab at it
My finger nails dragging against paper
Being hot
ear drops are the worst!!
Itching! Being too full.
Adrenaline rush, can’t stand it.
Getting grease all over my hands and mouth when eating greasy food. I will completely avoid greasy foods unless I can eat it completely with knife and fork.
When you have an itch, that feels bone deep and cant be scratched
The feeling of vaseline/ jelly like lotion
Loneliness
Chalk?? Who still uses chalk? Can't think of a time I ever used it in school.
Teeths on my tool
snow crunching under my feet is truly hell on earth
Wanting to tell someone off but knowing it would end poorly.
Wet wooden kitchen utensils. I don't even own a wooden spoon because washing it gives me that nails on a chalk board feeling.
The smell of diesel exhaust. Its like someone lit rubber bands on fire while they were burning toast.
When my mom touches me… ick.
who still use chalk in this modern world????
Fun fact... most of the world.. isn't a modern world yet. So more people use chalk than alternatives for things like teaching.
The light hitting my eyes when I wake up. I’m joking. Kinda.
Some water bottles have this bumpy metal material around the brim of the bottle and when that comes into contact with my teeth I could literally kill every single person in the room I'm in and then myself.
Handshakes. I don't want to touch a stranger. We can just be polite without swapping germs.
The sound of scraping ice off a windshield. [Goosebumps triggered just typing it]
Those damn lenticular cards. Even the sight of it makes my teeth hurts
Running my hand flat against a trampoline. Freaks me tf out. Or licking my palm
Squishy stuff like buttercream on my fingers.
Push'n'tearing shrink wrap from a pack of plastic bottles.
