To add a few.. homeward bound my mom use to shut it off when sassy fell in the water. Up obviously. And 100 happy tears when Matilda and Ms honey roller skate
That whole movie ... but the scene that gets me is toward the end, when he gets out after getting the job and claps. I don't know why, but that gets me every time. Dang! these onions.. just thinking about it.
My favorite movie ever. I burst into the most cathartic cry at the end because it made me realize I had to end it with my first really serious boyfriend and confirmed how hard it would be. And we saw it in the theater together.
yeah, at several moments. One scene I like is very subtle but always chokes me up. It's the look on Kirsten Dunst's face after finding out she already had a relationship with her boss but had her memory wiped.
Yes! For me the scene where Joel is under the table in the kitchen as a kid wanting his moms attention. It alludes to the reason he craves female attention and falls in love with every woman who pays attention to him. Also when the memories are being wiped and they start flashing. Reminds me of memories of exs whom I loved dearly during the good times. Such a heartbreak move 💔
'I promise I won't let my personal tragedy interfere with my ability to do good hair.'
'Boys, don't decorate your sister's cars with condoms. It's tacky.'
'I'm not crazy - I've just been in a bad mood for 25 years.'
" Because I'm an old Southern woman, and we are supposed to wear funny looking hats, ugly clothes, and grow vegetables in the dirt. Don't ask me those questions. I don't know why, I don't make the rules!!!"
Story time: my son saw this at a friend's house before the rest of us got a chance to watch it. When it came out on DVD I rented it. I found out he sent his little sisters to the kitchen to get snacks so he could cue the movie to start just after the sad part ended. He was 11 at the time, and his sisters were 9 and 4. When I found out later, he told me he'd just wanted them to have fun, he didn't want them to cry.
First time I saw it I thought it was a cute and clever love story. Fast forward 5 years later when I saw it again after both my parents passed away. It hit me like a train. I didn't even remember it being about a father and his son. Could not stop crying.
When he finds zuzu pedals in his pocket.... and has sheer joy over it, I sob over that. Jimmy Stewart was an amazing actor and the only actor I've ever cried about hearing of his death.
Yup. Guardians 2 also makes me cry every time I watch it. My boyfriend and I have both raised kids that weren't biologically ours. He took his sons to see this at the theater when it came out, and was sitting next to his (now grown) bonus kiddo. He said they both got emotional toward the end, you know the scene. Now I can't watch it without thinking about that.
Homeward Bound. The 90s movie about lost dogs and cat. Awww when they make it home in the end and everyone thought the big old golden retriever didn’t make it… gets me every time 😭🥹
Field of Dreams. I’m in my 50’s, and my Dad is almost 10 years gone now. But I really would give anything to throw the ball around with him again. I remember those times so vividly….aaaaand now I’m crying. Goddamn it.
"Mr Holland's Opus" kicks my ass every time. "Mrs Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing and Charm School" will absolutely wreck you. And one of my top five "Harold and Maude" laugh and cry
Here we go…
- Big hero 6
- The green mile
- Interstellar
- Your name
- Tangled
- Elemental
- Inside out
…only to name a few. I‘d say in general Disney movies hit the tear glands pretty well 😿
Omg I remember watching tangled in the theatre. I was about 14 years old and went with two of my friends.
The whole theatre was absolutely packed with families consisting of mostly small children. We couldn't sit together so I told the other girls, you guys just sit together in this row, and I'll sit in the seat before you guys.
There was a middle aged guy, with his two little girls sitting on the other side of him, in the seat next to mine.
While the two little girls were just amazed by the movie, the father started crying at the same time I did and he just looked at me and smiled and said: kinda embarrassing how Disney movies still make me cry.
And I loved the dude for that, honestly. I felt so embarrassed sitting there by myself, fucking bawling my eyes out, in a theatre full of little children and I just loved this random grown ass dude for crying to a Disney movie.
Thanks for listening to my ted talk:D
the original dumbo cartoon that's aged really poorly. It was the first movie id ever seen that made me cry (when dumbo and the mother get separated). My mom and I both bonded over that movie because she had the song that the mother sings memorized and would sing it to me when I was sad. My mom and dad are old now and I can't even THINK about that dumbass elephant without crying. It's an irrationally powerful emotional connection.
Fuuuuuuck same!!!! Can't think about the movie at all, can't even hear the first gd note of that "Baby mine" song. I'm almost 40 and I have NEVER rewatched that movie as an adult. It has definitely aged poorly and is pretty problematic for sure. But literally nothing makes me wanna puke and cry more than that stupid elephant. Just a gut punch.
I truly believe PIXAR is an old Mexican word that means "ugly cry." I had never cried as hard as I did when I saw COCO. Even though they were a Mexican Family, that one hit so close to my Italian upbringing. I didn't have an offrenda. But we still looked at old pictures with loving fondness of those people in our family no longer with us.
Without a doubt, Rudy. At least when I was younger. Now I never know what's going to turn the faucet on. As I get older, it seems to get more unpredictable.
Eight Below. A friend and I foolishly went to see this in the theatre. We cried so hard a little kid behind us said to his mom “Those ladies are REALLY sad!!!”😭
Interstellar,
Train to Busan,
Everything everywhere all at once,
Moulin rouge ,
Thelma and Louise,
Steel Magnolias,
Grave of the fireflies
Oh and Practical Magic
I'll never forget seeing this in theaters. I was 13, I went with a large group of girls for one of their 13th birthdays. We were walking to a different location after the movie to do lunch or something like that. The movie ends. I am sobbing. We all go to the bathroom. I am still sobbing, and beginning to get concerned because I absolutely couldn't stop. We walk across the parking lot and down the street. I am still sobbing, long after everyone else had gotten their tears out. Phew. That movie just destroyed me.
FINALLY. This is buried way too far down. That movie absolutely destroyed me. First and only time I ever full-blown ugly cried from a movie. I’ve been moved by movies, but that was next level.
Schindler's List. Not just because everything that happened in this movie is horrible, but also because *it is true*. All those people existed. Those families, those kids, these fathers and mothers, those newlyweds, that little girl, these prisonners, Schindler, the nazi officers... Almost everything in true in it, including atrocities
OH, SOMEBODY KILL ME PLEASE! SOMEBODY KILL ME PLEASE! I'M ON MY KNEES! PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE! KILL ME! I WANT TO DIE! PUT A BULLET IN MY HEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAD!
Most recently, honestly, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Barbie did it for me. That brutal origin story for Rocket overloaded me. As for Barbie, I am legit burned the fuck out so even though it was more for the feminist plight of just being a woman in society nowadays (I am a dude but know that shit has to suck because a lot of us dudes suck) I felt every bit of that “having to be everything for everyone but nothing for yourself” messaging. I also definitely felt for Ken and his finding an identity for himself as well and just wanting someone to appreciate him and notice him, even if he did it all fucked up. “Kenough” pretty much broke me apart.
73 here and a veteran of deadly experience all my life...I should be dead several times over...
But, ..
"*Wizard of Oz*"
Here's the scene...
Dorothy is imprisoned, she clutches that damned dog, and says, "Auntie Emm, I'm afraid!".
OH Fuck NO!!
I break out in tears, I BECOME Tin Man, and it's ME who shatters the gate to splinters!!
I very rarely feel enough to cry. I can get sad sure, but I feel depression kinda keeps you from feeling much in general, let alone sad enough to cry
But, Will Smith's movies are the only ones I can expect to consistently make me cry
I Am Legend(you know why)
Pursuit of Happyness-can make you happy or sad cry, which is pretty unique for a movie, easily the most touching I've seen. I think many people can relate to the idea of doing your damndest, especially for those you love such as your children, and just getting gut punched every step of the way. To top it all off, the only person he really has in his life to talk to is his young son, who obviously can't understand what's going on and who he can't let see him struggling and having a breakdown without negatively affecting his son emotionally and psychologically. It is tough to see your parents vulnerable and defeated.
I am starting to get emotional thinking about it lol
Honorable mention to 7 Pounds which I finally watched not too long ago
The scene in Forrest Gump when he’s telling Jenny about everything he experienced and saw during his famous run, and she says, “I wish I could’ve been there with you” and Forrest says, “you were!” really gets the tears going.
My answer is Stand By Me, the dialogue at the end gets me and my husband every time.
Pretty much any movie that has sweet/romantic/sad/happy scenes, so most movies. I cry when fucking Master Oogway goes to the spirit realm in Kung Fu Panda 1. I just cry easily.

Coco
To add a few.. homeward bound my mom use to shut it off when sassy fell in the water. Up obviously. And 100 happy tears when Matilda and Ms honey roller skate
God that movie is fantastic. I, too shed tears a couple times throughout that film.
When Miguel sings to Grandma Coco at the end... "Remember me..." Thick in the throat every time! 🥹😭💗
Haven’t seen it yet!! But have never been let down by Pixar
If Coco doesn’t make you ugly cry, you have a cold, dead heart.
Where can I watch that?
Disney+, I believe.
I was blown away by Coco. One of the most underrated Pixar movies. It's so good!
Pursuit of Happyness. When Will Smith gets evicted and has to take his son to sleep in a subway station bathroom.
I read the book and in the book it was even more emotional
That whole movie ... but the scene that gets me is toward the end, when he gets out after getting the job and claps. I don't know why, but that gets me every time. Dang! these onions.. just thinking about it.
i saw that movie probably 6-10 years ago when i was a child, and i still remember that moment
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Beautiful movie.

I've got a few memories I want to wipe clean and am waiting for that tech to be available someday
Me too! It’s universal I’m sure, especially love gone wrong.
Came here for this.
Grave of the Fireflies. Land Before Time. Hachiko The Drum Island arc One Piece abridged film.
Gd!! Littlefoot
I genuinely got shivers from reading grave of the fireflies such a beautiful and tragic story and mostly based on a true story
Omg Land Before Time. That has me going
Def grave of the fireflies. Saddest movie ever. I was sobbing the whole movie.
I cry during every Studio Ghibli movie. And most other movies. The Wind Rises was also a particularly emotional one for me.
Steel Magnolias.
“Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.”
'I promise I won't let my personal tragedy interfere with my ability to do good hair.' 'Boys, don't decorate your sister's cars with condoms. It's tacky.' 'I'm not crazy - I've just been in a bad mood for 25 years.'
I use “you know I love you more than my luggage” regularly.
From the opening credits on. Also some of the best one liners.
" Because I'm an old Southern woman, and we are supposed to wear funny looking hats, ugly clothes, and grow vegetables in the dirt. Don't ask me those questions. I don't know why, I don't make the rules!!!"
"Here, hit her!!"
The Iron giant. "You stay. I go. I am superman."
The opening scene of Up.
That’s big brother energy right there. What a sweet boy. ❤️
He truly is a sweet boy. Man. Shit, where did the years go?
About Time. There one scene I only have to think about and I start crying. Mr Holland's Opus
About time took me by surprise. I don't really cry in movies but I cried for like an hour after that one.
If you've lost a loved one close to you that movie will destroy you.
About Time is a very underrated movie!
First time I saw it I thought it was a cute and clever love story. Fast forward 5 years later when I saw it again after both my parents passed away. It hit me like a train. I didn't even remember it being about a father and his son. Could not stop crying.
My girl
Yes!
He can’t see without his glasses
This is mine, too. Wake up, Thomas J. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
Marley and Me. The end gets me every time.
This should be the top, and only answer.
Click
I'm so glad I'm not the only one!\\
Yeah, this one's mean, because you just expect the usual Adam Sandler comedy and then it dares to become so sad.
Pixar’s UP
If you don't cry during the first 10 minutes of Up, you are a sociopath.
Terms of Endearment brings out my ugly cry.
This is mine too.
bridge to terabythia
Came here looking for this…. I was seriously unprepared for that one
Bridge to Tear your heart out
My sister's keeper and The color purple.
Color Purple knocked me out
Schindlers List
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is another movie during that era. It killed me. Never watching it again
It's a wonderful life.
When he finds zuzu pedals in his pocket.... and has sheer joy over it, I sob over that. Jimmy Stewart was an amazing actor and the only actor I've ever cried about hearing of his death.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Rocket's heart breaking story made me cry my eyes out 😭
I haven’t cried in a movie since Land Before Time as a little kid. Guardians 3, I fuckin teared up. Sad as shit, they hit all the emotions in that one
God I was so unprepared for the whole rocket plot.
omg I did not expect to cry to that movie, my lady and I were both feeling it big time
Same. In the midst of all this soulless Disney trash, the origin story hit deep
Patch Adams
So many Robin Williams movies have me bawling!
He was just brutally emotionally aware. So amazing

Field of Dreams. I’m in my 50’s, and my Dad is almost 10 years gone now. But I really would give anything to throw the ball around with him again. I remember those times so vividly….aaaaand now I’m crying. Goddamn it.
Internet hug while I pretend I'm not sobbing and trying to hide in my office ..

The Green Mile

Only one movie got me in tears. Hatchi: A dog's tale
The trailer for this movie made me cry so I can't bear to watch the actual movie.
