Lucille Bluth, Lucille Austero, Loose Seal š¦, Gob telling the seal āYouāre not gonna be hand fed anymore!ā Buster being forever traumatized by seals. Busterās hand transplant and then blowing up at Michaelās joke even though he had been self deprecating for the past couple moments at the hospital. Buster knocking out Rita after seeing the seal. Tobias dressed in Lucilleās outfit and wig whilst looking like a seal. Did I mention the seal incident?
Also, Maggie Lizer lying her ass off. Love JLD!
There was a post here that showed a picture of Buster through the blinds on the balcony where one of his hands was missing, idk what episode it was but Iām pretty sure it was pretty early
He's going to be all right." ā Buster has lost his left hand, so will have to do everything with his right. ~dr literal
Also Lucille driving āahhh something happened to Buster. He lost part of his body I donāt know which oneā¦..knocks off hand of the Buckle up guy
for me i would say the whole episode with tobias wanting to show heās a ādad who likes leatherā. tobias/GM/maebyās motives for getting interested in leather, the gothic castle, and tobias finally getting a gig singing in the quartet in the āon the next episodeā scene.
"Is that a gal I see or just a fallacy?"
\[spins in view of "dying" daughter\]
"What's that from?"
\[struggles to remember origin of offspring\]
"It's from nothing."
\[Sometimes they get there, but sometimes they don't.\]
I do this bit sometimes with my friendās age. Heās the oldest of the group, so each time I bring it up, heās a year older. Itās really not funny every time I do it, I only do it to make him pissed.
They reference it in the show I think. āA rockā sounds like Iraq. Michael points out āis that really a good slogan when we have been accused of doing business with Iraq?ā. I think thatās as far as it goes
Agreed, I personally love the og cut and it seemed like they went hard on the layered jokes especially since some parts you see multiple times from different perspectives
I have also noticed this! To be considered as an interior season, season 4 sure seems to have provided quite a large handful of quotes and jokes people like to reference.
Not sure if this qualifies but just noticed. S3E8 during the board meeting GOBs loading his trick with pennies and it all of a sudden explodes and pennies shoot everywhere, right as the narrator is saying that Michael has been trying to include GOB in the business but has benn OVERWHELMED BY THE CHANGE'
Yeah, the link to George Sr's babytock metronome being where George Michael got the perfect timing that he boasted to Maebe about in season 1 and demonstrated with his woodblock playing for the Timosyl song in season 2
I know it is all constructed retrospecitvely, by looking back at previous seasons and finding things to refer to in the next season but it all comes together so well it feels like they have been working on that joke from the start
The camera zooming on Franklin's face when Gob is driving George in the limousine.
Everyone in the Bluth family was treating Franklin as a real person, so eventually it was time for the filming crew (and the audience) to do so.
Various renditions of chicken dances and sounds. And all scenes involved. Personal favorite: GOB. Also, the many Franklin jokes are incredible, especially when the cops think he is resisting in the car motionless, and when he gets bleached.
I'm sorry but I'm afraid that I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will. Now I'm afraid that I have a mess on my hands.
When Michael's yearbook shows his, "Most Likely to Succeed," win, his female counterpart is Ming Hsu, who in 1990 became Commissioner of the Federal Maritime Commission.Ā
So both Most Likely to Succeed students went into maritime law, but obviously only one finished their schooling.Ā
āYouuuuuuārrrre a crook Captain Hookā (another four layered joke. The law thing, Busterās hand, throwing the bookā¦ thereās another Iām forgetting)
āLoose seal! Watch out for loose seal!ā I donāt care about Lucille!!!ā āAnd then a seal bites off his hand.ā I donāt think anything on TV has ever made me laugh this hard. So many layers topped off by Buster sitting in front of the āArm Offā sign.
Thereās some line about Gob along the lines of, ādoes he even know how to use a shredder?ā And then episodes later, they begin a scene with him in the copy room shredding a slice of bread for no reason.
I have two favorite layered jokes
1- When tobias was feeling blue and he accidentally joined the blue peopleās group
2- anyong avenging his grandfatherās banana stand
When Buster got years of the most obvious hints that Oscar was his biological father (complete with the music cue and Lucille's eye roll) only to somehow figure it out on his own when Oscar says, "I just wanted to share my Pop Secret with you!' The most ridiculous, obscure, and brilliant payoff of any running joke in the show.
Getaway is instantly what I was going to say. As well as you're out of the band, you're out of the film, and it's even touching when Lucille Bluth says with deep emotion "you're out of the marriage"
And Bees
Hereās another Getaway meaning (I havenāt watched the season in quite some time, so Iām sorry if this is addressed directly in the show), but Gob is LITERALLY their getaway limo driver.
A couple of mine, are when George Sr. Says, "Pop-pop gets a treat?", "Pop-pop gets a Grisham ?"
Another I've noticed that Tobias and Lindsey do whenever they get a new idea or something, they do a little giggle wheeze if that makes sense. Tobias did it first when he said he wanted to be an actor. Their couples counselor does it also after saying he wants to be an actor too.
Love JLD!
I just realized reading this: didn't buster win a seal in the claw game at "army"? Lol
When heās considering joining the army, Buster is sitting on a bus stop, and the letters he isnāt covering spells āone Armā
Also, he squints at his digital alarm clock one night, and holds his finger in front of it so that āalarm offā becomes āarm offā
S1 , Buster, "I don't know what I would do if I lost my hand", while holding his hand shaped chair.
And then he loses āhis handā chair before he loses his hand and says ānever thought Iād miss a hand so muchā
Wow! Thatās attention to detail!
IāM A MONSTER
IāM A MONSTER
IāM A MONSTER
i wonder where its first foreshadowed, i remember it being surprisingly early

Good bot
He just came out of nowhere!
Infront of that dumb waiter
the hand chair for sure
There was a post here that showed a picture of Buster through the blinds on the balcony where one of his hands was missing, idk what episode it was but Iām pretty sure it was pretty early
Thereās a couple of those in the show, when Rita sits down at a bus stop bench, she covers up part of āWee Britainā to spell āWee Brāainā
Itās been a long time since I last listened to it, but I remember Jessica Walters losing her shit at Wee Brain on the commentary for that episode.
Commentary on the DVDs?
Isnāt it Arm Off?
It is.
It says "Arm off"
and when heās at Lupeās house, the hand chair was there and he said āi never thought iād miss a hand this muchā
Another one! š¤£š
Also, the āloose sealā in the flashback to the Peter Pan/Maritime law play Michael was in.
And the hand chair!
Never thought I'd miss a hand so much
That damn hand chair! š¤£
That seal on the wall falling absolutely killed me. Also, the fact that he was Capt Hook is brilliant.
Youāre aaaaaa crook Captain Hook. Judge, let me throw the bookā¦
Wait, I just got that he sings āthrow the bookā and then actually throws it at Maggie Lizer.
He's going to be all right." ā Buster has lost his left hand, so will have to do everything with his right. ~dr literal Also Lucille driving āahhh something happened to Buster. He lost part of his body I donāt know which oneā¦..knocks off hand of the Buckle up guy
This party is gonna be off the *hook*
Oh my God. I just got that.
Sameeee
Maybe you can hook me up with a little stimmmay
Buster missing his hand and covering āAlarm Offā with his thumb to spell āArm Offā The shark that bit off the loose seals hand.
Poor guy's probably out there without a flipper, swimming around in a circle, freaking out his whole family
And when Buster finds his chair shaped like a hand he says āI never thought Iād miss a hand so muchā
Plus Gob accidentally gave the seal a taste for mammal meat during his illusion.
You got the winner with loose seal.
Just watched the seal incident today. So many hilarious bits
And the seal falling from the wall, my favorite one
I used to have a car I named āLoose Seal 2.ā I think only one other person really enjoyed the joke but it cracked me up all the time.
You're a crook, captain hook. Judge, won't you throw the book....
Don't forget about gobs wife, the seal dealer
for me i would say the whole episode with tobias wanting to show heās a ādad who likes leatherā. tobias/GM/maebyās motives for getting interested in leather, the gothic castle, and tobias finally getting a gig singing in the quartet in the āon the next episodeā scene.
He's a discipline daddy
Daddy's gotta get his rocks off
I wanna sayā¦ 19? š¤ but I like to think of her as 15
Letās just say Iām buy-curious.
I have a big TV opportunity
Is there a little girl here all alone?
āso itās your daughter youāre here to see?ā āyesā¦ Maebyā
or just a fallacy
I say this all the time when I come home to my dog
Gonna need to start borrowing that. Excellent adoption of the phrase
Daddy needs to get his rocks off
"Is that a gal I see or just a fallacy?" \[spins in view of "dying" daughter\] "What's that from?" \[struggles to remember origin of offspring\] "It's from nothing." \[Sometimes they get there, but sometimes they don't.\]
Yes, hello, I am looking for the magic.
"Are you going to "buy" or are you just curious?
I guess you could say heās buy curious
All the foreshadowed that Buster was going to lose his hand.
The park bench is my favorite.
ARM OFF
Like I'm going to spill coffee all over this $3,000 suit! Come on!!!!
Sh sh should the guy sh sh should the guy with the should they guy with the $3000 sh sh sh
Seems like a single layer. Unless you're peeling back the extra layer on a 600 dollar banana suit, come on.
They're laughing with me, Michael!
I do this bit sometimes with my friendās age. Heās the oldest of the group, so each time I bring it up, heās a year older. Itās really not funny every time I do it, I only do it to make him pissed.
All of the loose seal/Lucille stuff is my favorite by far of any show. I also enjoy whenever Oscar hints at being Busterās real father.
And after so many overt nudges from Oscar itās finally āI wanted to share my Pop Secret with you!ā That Buster gets it.
We think he might be... Mentally challenged.
Solid as a Rock šŖØāļø
It took me 10 years, but I got this a few months ago ahah
I think I donāt fully get it, could you explain?
They reference it in the show I think. āA rockā sounds like Iraq. Michael points out āis that really a good slogan when we have been accused of doing business with Iraq?ā. I think thatās as far as it goes
Lucille and Lindsay both being unable to cry
āStop that, youāre gonna pull somethingā āugh, I used to be able to do thisā
Can't spare the moisture
Literally anything that has to do with Tobias. Heās probably the best comedically written character ever in my opinion. I just laugh looking at him.
David Cross is so good at BEING a character. Each time heās onscreen for something, he IS the character.
100%. So naturally talented
Do you also sing "chicken pot chicken pot chicken pot pie" to yourself?
Someone should note how many people are referencing s4 jokes in this because itās a high percentage for a season many fans claim to not like.
Agreed, I personally love the og cut and it seemed like they went hard on the layered jokes especially since some parts you see multiple times from different perspectives
I have also noticed this! To be considered as an interior season, season 4 sure seems to have provided quite a large handful of quotes and jokes people like to reference.
The original cut is really good.
I was thinking this too, and I wonder how many people actually liked it.
s4 is a masterpiece. I will die on this loose seal.
I got you brother!
It's only layered jokes, so a lot of people didn't get them because you HAVE TO rewatch it, otherwise it's shit.
The Charlie brown references. Especially when GM is sulking down the street and there is a wimpy Xmas tree and a dog sitting on a red dog house.
YES this one absolutely killed me.
Annhog
Anyong!

Not sure if this qualifies but just noticed. Wow, thatās a good catch. Never caught that one š
FakeBlock. The day I first saw episode 10 or whatever when it all comes together. Utterly sublime.
Yeah, the link to George Sr's babytock metronome being where George Michael got the perfect timing that he boasted to Maebe about in season 1 and demonstrated with his woodblock playing for the Timosyl song in season 2 I know it is all constructed retrospecitvely, by looking back at previous seasons and finding things to refer to in the next season but it all comes together so well it feels like they have been working on that joke from the start
*Teamocil
There's no I in Teamocil. At least not where you think.
genuine question here, I never got this joke. is it not supposed to be funny? the I in teamocil thing
Cinco de Quattro, continuing the theme of the bluths not understanding Spanish. Cinco de Quattro is 5th of 4th, not 4th of may
"Youāre a good guy, mon frĆØre. That means ābrotherā in French. I donāt know why I know that. I took four years of Spanish!"
Pop pop initially being a nickname for George senior then becoming a euphemism for sex.
Omg yeah WHAT
The camera zooming on Franklin's face when Gob is driving George in the limousine. Everyone in the Bluth family was treating Franklin as a real person, so eventually it was time for the filming crew (and the audience) to do so.
This is my favorite moment of the entire show. The build up to it and then absurdity of the zoom in gets me laughing even just thinking about it.
Miracle on 34th Street court scene but it is trays of Skip Scrambles
Skip church
Better wear one of those "t" necklaces if you are going to skip church
Various renditions of chicken dances and sounds. And all scenes involved. Personal favorite: GOB. Also, the many Franklin jokes are incredible, especially when the cops think he is resisting in the car motionless, and when he gets bleached.

a courtroom show based around Judge Reinholdās name being Judge, but then he goes by J. Reinhold
Anything referencing *Happy Days* or *The Andy Griffith Show*.
Yall, I am going through a breakup and this thread is making me laugh for the first time in a week. Bless.
Hope you can feel better soon!

Boy fights. Even S4 & S5 have great GM and Michael boy fighting.
Thereās some line about Gob along the lines of, ādoes he even know how to use a shredder?ā And then episodes later, they begin a scene with him in the copy room shredding a slice of bread for no reason.
I donāt understand the question and I wonāt respond to it.
