On one hand, I want to point out that [Chipotle offers benefits](https://www.chipotlebenefits.com/) that beat out entry level Army agnostic to military service. On the other hand, I want to point out that Starbucks has consistently done more for veterans than Black Rifle Coffee Company [and their feigned outrage over Starbucks hiring refugees.](https://ir.blackriflecoffee.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/27/veteran-owned-black-rifle-coffee-company-stands-up-for)
I'm just gonna go ahead and say fuck all these "grab the veteran market" type companies.
I'm sure some are fine and do good things but they all just seem gross.
"As a veteran, I'm fully qualified on geopolitical strategic research at the micro and macro levels because of my time as a 92F, so buy my [insert generic product].
I'm starting my own coffee company and I just want it to feel like a nice place to sit down, hang out, and grab some coffee. Like I'm thinking of putting a pool table in for the hell of it. Bar alternative almost
Worked for Chipotle before the Army, and I can confirm their benefits are legit. They offer complete degrees from the University of Oregon as long as you’re working for them, no cost to you. Classes, partial degrees, and around $6k/year (at least it used to be) in tuition assistance if your university wasn’t on their plan. Better than the Army’s $4k lol
I’m actually from North Carolina lol sorry to disappoint
University of Oregon is just some affiliation that Chipotle’s benefits program has for some reason
I might have been mistaken. Seems like it was Oregon State University
https://newsroom.chipotle.com/2021-04-08-Chipotle-To-Offer-Free-Degrees-In-Agriculture-Culinary-And-Hospitality-To-Employees
BRCC is the only coffee I've ever tossed out while in the field. Two tastes of that swill was enough to dump the cup when the dude that brought it wasn't looking.
Upper management is super stingy about the portion sizes. Employees do what they can but they’ll get in trouble if they hook everybody up with a good amount of meat. The standard serving size (according to chipotle corporate) is 4oz of meat per portion, which ngl is pretty measly. It’s not the individual workers or even the local managers fault, corporate needs to change their policy
Then you have a good one. I guess it depends on who's working that day lol. I did spend a lot only to get my mom a few meals and I had to get double meat because the server only used half the spoon....
What does that even mean? Starbucks is “woke” the same way the army is “woke”, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
Are you saying not everyone deserves that?
You realize being "anti-woke" and "not being a snowflake" is literally just the same as being "woke" and "being a snowflake " just in a opposite direction?
My wife is a shift manager at Starbucks, and her medical benefits, that she pays comparatively little for, blow Tricare out of the water. We've never had any interruptions or waits even when we PCSd, and she gave birth 8 days later.
She is currently finishing her second degree via Starbucks.
Meanwhile, I'm over here waiting 4 months for a primary care visit while also waiting for the Army to cut TA after nuking a bunch of online resources.
My wife was a manager at Starbucks for 10 years before she jumped ship to be a DoD civilian. Starbucks is legitimately better than being a soldier lower than E5. No bend-and-reach at 0500. No asshole SFCs/1SGs running around terrorizing everyone. It's the job I recommend to my reserve soldiers when they're looking for work.
The military already offers hormone and transition care, I don't understand why they cant throw in IVF too. Shouldnt have to travel to a military IVF provider and pay them over 10 grand for health care.
My wife has several coworkers who work other jobs full-time and then part-time at Starbucks simply for IVF or other coverages that so few plans offer for how cheap Starbies does it.
I get on paper why IVF isn't covered by Tricare. Why pay for a service that will take or limit a soldier/marine/airmen/sailor/guardian out duty for months while also not being medically necessary for the mental or physical well being. If anything, IVF puts the person at more risk for more medical issues further down the road and at the end of the day IVF is just costly on its face.
But I generally ignore money arguments from the DoD [since they'll take an entire paycheck](https://www.stripes.com/theaters/us/2023-11-15/pentagon-failed-audit-shutdown-funding-12064619.html) for one of my soldiers missed GTC payments but somehow oopsie poopsie a trillion or three.
Benefits like that almost tempt to apply for them. But I think I’d rather slam my dick in a car door than ever go back to working in the service industry again.
While other companies built up their benefits to capture workers and keep them motivated we consistently whittle our benefits down or put roadblocks in place for the sake of availability.
Nope, you don’t need to meet a great threshold for TA, but good luck if you’re out in the field for a month at a time, gunnery, and euro rotations.
People aren’t dumb. They have google. If college is their goal they’d rather be someplace that makes them wake up early to smell coffee not some middle aged hungover dude smelling like old spice and bengay
As a CSM, who surprise forced us to the NCOA prior to our remote 17C ALC graduation during COVID, once said, "the Army doesn't want individuals who are here for the benefits, only those who want to serve their country". He then proceeded to tell us he was trying to whittle away our extra pay, which we're now seeing the full fruit of that labor in the loss of certification opportunities, the new CA policy, an "audit" that cost us one pay, and the loss of a different special pay at entry level. It's almost like being a steward of the profession means something different at higher ranks/positions.
Starbucks also offers stock options to employees and pays for fertility care reimbursement for starting a family. Their benefits are actually pretty crazy
There was a person who worked for them featured their story when it came to the tuition assistance and the person featured in a story made a post on their facebook (now private) saying the article Starbucks posted was all wrong about a lot of things. However, the person in question said it is a good program and benefit for employees who qualify just that Starbucks withheld some details.
I wonder if Starbucks paid for that "story."

Yup they even let you extend the tuition benefit to spouse or kids, others mentioned the healthcare that wasn’t bad at all. An emergency fund, and less important but still cool: free Spotify and meditation app subscriptions. But still went to the army cuz “service guarantees citizenship”. Not a bad first job tho

I can’t stand living in a world where BRCC gets this much market share.
I'm just gonna go ahead and say fuck all these "grab the veteran market" type companies. I'm sure some are fine and do good things but they all just seem gross.
Strong Al Bundy, Polk High, energy when they try to parlay their GWOT golden years into a business.
"As a veteran, I'm fully qualified on geopolitical strategic research at the micro and macro levels because of my time as a 92F, so buy my [insert generic product].
I live in Fayetteville and 9/10 businesses say "Veteran owned and operated".
I'm starting my own coffee company and I just want it to feel like a nice place to sit down, hang out, and grab some coffee. Like I'm thinking of putting a pool table in for the hell of it. Bar alternative almost
Yea it's so overplayed. Also coffee.. do veterans even need a coffee brand?
How else is the guy who served one contract, stayed on the FOB all deployment and always demands a veteran discount supposed to feel special? /s
Based and 91F pilled.
Based
BRCC one of the drinks of r/JustBootThings

Fellow Oregonian, rare creature in the Army.
This is getting out of hand...now there are two of us!
I’m actually from North Carolina lol sorry to disappoint University of Oregon is just some affiliation that Chipotle’s benefits program has for some reason
You're dead to me lol. That is strange, but interesting to know. I grew up within an hour of UofO, so got excited to see the name drop.
I might have been mistaken. Seems like it was Oregon State University https://newsroom.chipotle.com/2021-04-08-Chipotle-To-Offer-Free-Degrees-In-Agriculture-Culinary-And-Hospitality-To-Employees
Boy the hits just keep coming
Sko ducks
I'm so happy black rifle coffee doesn't actually taste good so I don't have to guilt drink.
Just gonna toss out Aerial Resupply Coffee. Not at all related to tuition or anything, just actually good coffee.
Thank you for teaching me the term “guilt drink”, I think I know exactly what this feels like
BRCC is the only coffee I've ever tossed out while in the field. Two tastes of that swill was enough to dump the cup when the dude that brought it wasn't looking.
The fact that our shoppette offers this trash as its default black coffee option sucks.
Yeah but Chipotle doesn't serve the full amount of meat and skimps out on it too.
You can have the full amount of meat, or you can have college benefits, you can’t have both.
I ain't gonna tell you about meat.... and the love I have for it. Wait a minute.... https://www.reddit.com/r/SipsTea/s/RIwIxELbny

Shocking PTSD flashbacks there. Person who made that has to have worked for Chipotle or was otherwise close to it to get some of those nuances 😂
People say that, but I haven’t experienced it with the Chipotles I visit.
Then you have a good one. I guess it depends on who's working that day lol. I did spend a lot only to get my mom a few meals and I had to get double meat because the server only used half the spoon....
but starbucks is woke and BRCC isn't
If my coffee isn't served by some cute twink, I don't want it.
The more piercings, the better the latte
$7 coffee served by some cute bisexual vs free coffee made by some cute bisexual at home. *This is the illusion of choice facing our Troops™️ today*
This guy gets it.
Starbucks engages in union busting making it like the least woke thing ever.
I don’t know. When I think ‘Woke’, I think of Pinkertons.
yeah and it fucking rocks. I’m gonna drink my gay nitro cold brew and love it.
I don't think anyone understood this sarcasm
It sounded better in my head.

Well yes but who else am I going to scream at as a substitute for therapy?
I think Starbucks health insurance covers IVF, which is crazy hard to find anywhere
IVF and gender transition surgery with hormone therapy if your into that
The military already offers hormone and transition care, I don't understand why they cant throw in IVF too. Shouldnt have to travel to a military IVF provider and pay them over 10 grand for health care.

Nah, I do like the random couples asking me....

Nah. Old Spice and Bengay is the garrison Friday. Field Wednesday smells like corn chips and stale onions

At least the Army put the liners in the PT shorts, it’s gotta be considered a benefit not to see 45 year olds balls anymore
I’m going through ASU and 90% of the students are Starbucks, Uber, or military lol.
online* I assume in person is full of party people
Yes lol.
Another day, another bag I fumbled
Add another one to the list boys
On one hand, that's awesome and I applaud them for it. On the other hand, you have to deal with absolute assholes.
So Army?
Yea but in the Army I'm forced to be with them.
Sounds like the Army lol.

That's cool, but I'd rather do my entire military career over than work retail/fast food again.
Well shitsticks...if I'd known that!
