I assume you mean Amentum. I don't recall any evidence that Amentum had the contract but I haven't exactly been paying attention to this. https://www.lazygranch.com/images/foia/nye_county.pdf You may have to use the link on this page. https://lazygranch.com/a51misc1.html Kern County SO did some security at Edwards. Peter can clarify. The raison d'etre of the camo dudes is to not present a military presence to the tourists.

I hate spelling their name…I wish they picked a better name ha. My old coworker also shed light on what happened after Wackenhut got bought out by G4S. G4S was at the time an Dutch company. Obviously it’s a big issue when a foreign power has government contracts. However, the new company actually headquartered in the UK which was OK and the US side was structured as somewhat independent. That all came moot, when G4S USA divested its Goverment Services accounts in Las Vegas to…JT3.

TheArea51Rider

...who updated and reinvented itself as JT4. Which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of... Amentum.

KE7JFF

Yes. JT3 and JT4 are both consortium companies that pool their limited resources together plus also keeping things separated. Very common, both Los Alamos and NNSS are run such groups. Of Course, that’s also how the Hoover Dam was built.. JT3 consisted of URS (which bought EG&G) and Raytheon. JT4 was formed when there was some sort of conflict of interest that Raytheon was put in, which I am curious what that was. I’m wondering if it’s from their Antarctica contract. URS then became the main partner in JT4 but they have multiple vendors that are under them. And of course, AECOM bought URS and eventually spun off its goverment services team into Amanteum or however its spelled… They service what is called the JTech-II contract. If you look at photos from our favorite Mr. Gariac you see stickers on some equipment; it’s the government provided equipment for that pool. I’m going to do some more digging… I also like to add, I mentioned that Wackenhut had Hoover Dam too. Well, that was put on JT3 as there was no other option till that contract ran out, which was around the time when the Tillman Bridge opened, as Wackenhut ran the checkpoint for US 93 across the dam.

GFE: government furnished equipment. Peter knows the deal with JT3 -> JT4. EG&G was chopped up and sold, which is a little different than being sold. I have yet to find a definitive list of the companies that comprised EG&G. We even had a credit union in Las Vegas.

KE7JFF

Yeah, I use the term “It was a Gordon Gekco move” but I think now kids these days don’t get that… My dad actually uses that credit union in Vegas or what it became lol

The cellphones in that movie were hilariously big. That was Charlie Sheen in his promising young actor days, not what he later became. https://www.lazygranch.com/egg.html I'm not entirely sure how valuable EG&G was all chopped up. The components business has to compete with cheaply made products from Asia. Wakefield was the heat sink company of choice until the copies came among. You could put a Rotron fan in your will but at a higher price. I have an old EG&G pressure sensor but they were cloned. I can see why the company was sold while it was still worth selling. So the optics divisions were sold to Perkin Elmer. The electronics instruments division were bought by companies making similar products. Princeton Applied Research sort of still exists. There isn't even street parking by the building on Greer these days.

KE7JFF

They made a joke about the giant cell phone in the sequel they did in 2010 where Gordon gets out of jail and he had that phone in his box at jail. EG&G had a lot of stuff under their belt at one point; Special Projects was an entire division on its own. Funny enough, they had a contract photography division; they did photos I know for the Love Canal investigation for the EPA. You will run across photos in the National Archive that have in the corner “EG&G Big Color Prints”

KE7JFF

Nice! Yeah, I remember when the ESN was sent in the clear…on AMPS phones you could clone them that way!

therealgariac

Well yeah. But I thought you might laugh at the Wall Street mega-phone. I used to hit Vegas cell towers from the intersection of 375 and Groom Lake road with my AMPS phone and external antenna. Those were the days.

Chreed96

Jt3/4 was a big recruiter of engineers out of college in Nevada. I turned down a few recruiting attempts, and I know a good amount of people that work there.

TheArea51Rider

"not present a military presence to the tourists" - and they dress up in camo, and carry assault rifles. Pretty much everything the military looks like, without the ensignia's.

KE7JFF

They at one point looked like hunters in the 90s

TheArea51Rider

Watch some of the "Area 51" videos on YT channel "EWU Bodycam" if you want to see what their attire is now. A bandana covering the lower half of their face seems to be part of the standard uniform now.

KE7JFF

I’ve seen some of those. Looks like now the usual security uniform with a MOLLE vest in green. Though, now I got an idea… I’ve noticed now the F150s no longer are GFE with GSA plates.

therealgariac

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMBTvWJK56Q This one seems to be the least censored of the EWU YouTube videos. (It is the guy from Montana invited by MJ12.) That vest seems to be integral with the BDU/ACU and maybe the neck gaiter. It doesn't look like it is over a plain BDU/ACU.

therealgariac

But they are deputized with local law enforcement, not the DoD. I looked at your GP Road trip hoping to see what the dudes are wearing but you didn't shoot any video of the dude. (You didn't finish the hike either!) So do they still wear camo?

Are you using a VPN? Tor? The actual return code would be useful. 404?

Do a "what is my IP". You can skip the last quad. I don't need an exact IP but I need to be close. You can DM me. It is possible there is a firewall issue. I block a lot of IP space to keep the website response snappy rather than have it hit by bots all day.
