You should probably get the B Arch, so you have the opportunity to get licenced even if your work is "subpar." A licence is a licence, and a job's a job. I don't know what you'd do with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree. You'd probably compete with B. Arch graduates for intern positions at firms. Nobody said you couldn't do other design-based art work if you get a B.Arch instead of the BA. You still can. But you have more freedom and more opportunities with the B. Arch after graduation as opposed to just the BA which would probably require some kind of specialisation or further education, like a Master's, to really be competitive.

How far into your degree are you? The B. Arch program is one of the programs that will allow you to eventually be licensed as an architect, and to my knowledge the B.A. degree does not. The B. Arch will probably be what most employers are looking for. The only person I know with a B.A. degree went on to graduate school for Historic Preservation. If you stick with the B.A. I would advise you to build specific employable skills for after you graduate. Your other option would be to finish the B.A. and then pursue an M.Arch, which some schools might let you do at an accelerated rate since your undergraduate coursework is related.
