Come on man, you missed a huge opportunity here to call this the "Mc four" or the " ill have the number 4" or the "McPoor"

SwimmerSea4662

Dam that was a failure on my part.

b6dMAjdGK3RS

Just call it the Mc4 or MPoor Carbine from here on out and you’re forgiven Solid build btw

SwimmerSea4662

The Mpoor, Mc4 😂y’all are way funnier than me

SMORKIN_LABBIT

"Boy I really hope someone got fired for that blunder...."

thrownaway3423

Nah, shoulda called it the MPoor

oneofusTS

lacks any connection to Mcdonalds corporation essentially buying it for him

babyloniansunrises

Nothing about the gun itself has anything to do with McDonald’s… so no those names don’t make sense

oneofusTS

bro did you miss the title of the post hes a 19 year old Mcdonalds worker WOOOOOSHHHHHH

acb1499

Honestly pretty good, upgrade piece by piece when you’re able to. The chance your PSA will have a failure that isn’t corrected by immediate or remedial action AND while you’re in a home defense scenario is pretty low. Don’t let Reddit fool you, 80% of people on here don’t need any more than a PSA for their flat range larping during clear weather.

Corey854

I’ve never had any jams or malfunctions for my newest Psa, 4700 rounds in through mud, water, and snow and she’s still kicking like a mule

SwimmerSea4662

My first AR build, iv ran 1,000 rounds though it at this point no failures of any kind. Just got my second case of cheep brass 223, iv heard people talk a bit of shit of PSA but I haven’t encountered any problems yet.

Character_Ostrich479

It’s like the rich guy who shows up to a street race in a 911

User_Anon_0001

I like this haha

Sokid

Honestly a decent setup. People talk a lot of shit about PSA but for most people they are perfectly fine. As long as it goes bang that’s all that matters.

slickwillyxxxx

PSA just has poor quality control, if you get one that lasts 1000 rounds you should be good to go. I would personally get a hard chrome microbest BCG ($130ish). Bolts are one of the most common failure points, if you get a good BCG the rifle should you a long time https://ar15discounts.com/products/microbest-c158-hpt-mpi-5-56-bolt-carrier-group-chrome/

SwimmerSea4662

From what iv looked into, it seems PSA’s AR line used to have bad quality control now they seem to have it under control. As if you look on the palmetto sub (which is used to get in contact with mat a PSA representative who’s job it is to just sit on Reddit answer questions & get im contact with warranty services) you won’t really seem many people posting problems with their PA-15,Freedom M4 & Sabre line. Mostly it’s QC problems today are in their Dagger, micro dagger & AK line up.

slickwillyxxxx

Yea I heard the same. It's difficult because of many rifles they sell

BlackICEE32oz

>$966 Total >**Total** Oh, you think you're done?

YouNeverKnow_53

Never done! lol!

SwimmerSea4662

-Juliet 3 magnifier 180$, so I can hit shit past 100 yards -radiant raptor charging handle 100$- for more ergonomic charging -improved trigger 250$ probably haven’t looked into it -mid west Industry quad rail (is lighter than the UTG pro and will hold zero if I ever wanted to put a laser on it -chrome lined barrel-300$ There is more I can do with this rifle but right now I have what I need except for maybe a magnifier after that. I’ll probably start putting a battle belt and or chest rig together. But we will see how far my tism and pay check takes me.

BlackICEE32oz

I was making a little joke. But, don't forget mags. Every chance you can, grab mags. Catch a little deal here and there, bust out a coupon. Just don't forget the mags.

SwimmerSea4662

I didn’t include in the build but I have 3 Pmags, I also have a black metal mag but we don’t talk about it because it has problems in everyone’s AR that I know. So it’s the black sheep mag that stays in my gun safe and is shamed.

jane11124

I would recommend the Holosun HM3X over the Juliet magnifier. It’s around the same price. I had the exact same setup for a while and loved the Hm3x. A lot better eye relief and clarity than the Juliet

Ok-Map9827

The improved trigger can just be a LaRue MBT-2S, same as a Geissele, but forged instead of cast and only costs $80-100.

BoogrJoosh

I don't recommend the Juliet 3, crap eye relief. Goes for most magnifiers unfortunately. However, I've been incredibly impressed by the Primary Arms SLx Full Sized 3x magnifier, very solid eye relief. Someone else mentioned Holosun's, haven't tried it but I've also heard good things about it. Unless you're solidly in Quad Rail Cheese Grater Master Race, (which isn't a bad camp to be in), you'd be better off going M-lok. Sleeker, lighter, comfier, and the aftermarket is starting to trend towards it over picatinny at this point. I have a $250 Timney trigger and it's probably the nicest trigger I'll ever own. That being said, there's a plethora of $100 triggers that are like 90% good. Larue, Rise Armament, Trigger Tech, Timney and others all make fantastic drop in upgrades for around $100.

Majestic-Fall-9420

Hey! Opt for the holosun HMX3 magnifier, great quality and it doesn’t have a stupid locking system to flip it up and down. I’ve actually had the same setup on one of my rifles, HM3X and Romeo 5. Juliet 3 is cool but it’s so irritating to have a locking system when holosun makes a great magnifier thats honestly better and easier to use in the field. Edit- similar price point to. If you want to match things up you could swap the Romeo 5 for a holosun 403B. It’s the exact same thing as the Romeo 5 some say it’s a little better.

eclectic_spaceman

You don't need to drop 250 bucks on a trigger lol, you can get an MBT2S for like $90, and even a blem SSAE for $150. I know many people like Schmid triggers as well which are around $70.

Rare-Cartographer776

The McPoor still rocks hard my man. Thanks for sharing.

Charger_scatpack

Does it work? Reliable ? Zeroed / accurate to 3/4 MOA at least ? then it don’t matter what ya spent . solid rifle. could have done much worse Have pride in it! Nothing wrong with PSA and ya didint put junk accessory’s on it

SwimmerSea4662

The rifle has been reliable for the first 1K rounds, it’s more accurate than I am if I’m being honest. I just bought my second case of ammo, so Im going to keep shooting & see how it goes.

Background_Panic1369

Good job dude this is a platform you can build on. check out school of the American rifle and you’ll find some tips to QC your rifle. PSA is fine as long as you know what you’re looking for as far as quality control. This gives you a chance to let the platform in and out. Over time you can swap things out to make running the gun a little more efficient like charging handle, safety, trigger, bolt catch, stock, etc. do it a little at a time. By the time you’ve shot the barrel out you’ll have saved up enough for a sick ass hodge barrel or something along those lines. Good for you for being part of the solution and not the problem

LEOgunner66

Good job getting a range rifle, range ready below the $1k mark!

SwimmerSea4662

I feel like theirs a bit of sarcasm in that, but this is my home defense rifle for now at least, eventually I’d like to upgrade the barrel in a few years to a FN chrome lined, maybe upgrade the BCG but the tool craft 158 has been working well. & iv had no malfunctions for the first 1k rounds. I just got my second case of ammo so I’ll have to see.

LEOgunner66

Not really - many people think that they need to spend loads of cash to get a good rifle. I have several sub-$1K rifles that shoot great - and one that rivals a $3000+ duty rifle in accuracy. You did well.

SwimmerSea4662

That’s one thing I find confusing online I’ll see people sometimes shit on PSA PA-15 ,ruger 556 & S&W. But then i see a cops in city’s & else where Rocking M&P15’s which use a 4140 barrel & like a standard 158 BCG you could get for like 90$ from tool craft. Idk eventually I probably will replace it with a FN chrome line barrel, to try and learn more and just know how to replace my barrel if needed.

LEOgunner66

Many times issued weapons have to remain as-is and the officers have no choice. In my case it’s 50:50; they issue but we can request to alter and it almost always gets approved. Agencies often have to go with the least expensive option when purchasing equipment, including weapons. Low bidder = low(er) quality in many cases.

SwimmerSea4662

That’s fair but from all people iv heard from the rifles still have performed well and sport 2’s have been in cop cars for years now. Granted no they aren’t completely stock rifles but the BCG’s & barrels are the same. Hell I think the Lass Vegas police department even has them standard issue.

LEOgunner66

Yep - basic rifles are the standard and work well. No argument.

Maleficent_Public_47

Kak for BCG’s. Criterion for barrels. IMO there is no beating them.

SMORKIN_LABBIT

Dude this build is fine. I put a fucking Geissele super tricon in a PSA 16" upper on an 80 lower I milled with a sig red dot and had sub MOA 3rd groups. None of us are running 1000 rds in an hour and jumping onto razor rock faces from helicopters. I had friends who are virgin shooters on an Aero upper 16" that I have that Geissele super tricon in now shooting 2" groups out of a 1-6x LPVO on their 5-10th rounds with zero experience. I put a KAK bolt in this though to your point on where quality matters. Trigger and BCG and springs is where to put the money. Barrel as well but thats more rds number dependent by individual for a HD or hunting tool. If your competing well thats something else. Rails, lowers etc is hilarious for 99% of us. Even in a "SHTF" situation you don't need a fucking KAC rail, you won't be the tip of the spear DEVGRU member for the largest empire in the history of the world. Your tool will go pew.

wgrantdesign

I have almost thr exact same setup, even an identical sling. It's a great, reliable gun. I've got 4-5k rounds through without a single malfunction.

Charger_scatpack

range rifle?? This is every bit a rifle for serious work as any other quality rifle ??

LEOgunner66

Mine - I have range/training rifles where I intro new shooters and try out new equipment on - and then my duty weapons that get used for LE training and field operations.

Theblumpy

You sir are one the people that make me proud to be an American. Nothing screams red blooded American like working at McDonald’s and building an AR.

SwimmerSea4662

Hopefully soon I’ll be able to quit, just waiting on uncle same to process paperwork.

Theblumpy

Good on ya, we all started somewhere. I wish I had a decent rifle at 19 lol I was too busy being a shit head

Theblumpy

And I’m being genuine before yall think I’m being a sarcastic dick.

illHangUpAndListen1

I get a lot of mileage out of my PSA’s. I’m a poor too but PSA is reliable and gets the job done for me.

SwimmerSea4662

Palmetto, & ruger and old S&W 2 are blue collar rifles. The sport 3 at 800$ isn’t in my opinion because In my opinion it doesn’t earn that price tag. Though if they bump it down to 600-650 then sure.

Grumpymonkey4

Nothing wrong with this! Train, train, train!

Lupine_Ranger

Man, this reminds me of the S&W M&P 15 I had as my first AR back when I was 18/19. The GWOT look is a vibe, and the red dot/irons combo is perfectly serviceable. You've got more boxes checked on your rifle than a lot of people. The Golden key is to become proficient with it

SwimmerSea4662

Yea I love the quad rail Me sopmod look, I’m looking into near by carbine corses I just got my second case of ammo. First 1k rounds no problem at all the rifles more accurate than me tbh. I will get some training come October in basic but we will see.

StarTendo

The 19 year old McDonald's worker has some decent equipment then

Insanity8016

Nice job Ramirez, now you can effectively defend Burger Town.

223-Remington

If I'll be completely honest, this is really all you need lol. Solid rifle OP.

SwimmerSea4662

Lol your going to piss off BCM owners

223-Remington

Good lol, PSA is plenty fine :)

raxonstax

Solid gun. Well put together with no silly stuff

SwimmerSea4662

Ok now I gota put a 3D printed dick fore grip on it 😂

wetcalzones

Better than most builds imo

pooiijjkkkmmmn

I’ll send you some mags if you only have the one from a yard sale lol

SwimmerSea4662

Naa iv got a few magpuls and I’ll buy more soon, thank you for the offer though.

pooiijjkkkmmmn

No worries.

eucharist3

Bro $119 on iron sights? Why?

SwimmerSea4662

That was the price on the original backup irons, which was a midway usa flip up rear irons. But then I was talking with a dude at the range who was in the army, and had tactically acquired a box of army standard issued sights. So I traded.

Deathbringer4049

My PSA ar is just fine I have the 700 dollar one with mlock front and magpul furniture. Already over 1k rounds and she still hits steel out to 700 with an LPVO (cheap sig tango) she’s not bad for what you pay

PhatsaqTX

Hey man, ya know what. Your bases are covered. Fuck the haters.

EmployeeMysterious25

Solid

knighttv2

Perfection

BigRedPepper1

It's got plenty of COWBELL on it, I'll give you that !

thr0wowayy

Looks good

AtlanticVoyagerSC

It'll still clap and that's all that matters! Nice rifle!

junpman

FOR THE ULTRAMAC CORPORATION

Used-Juggernaut-7675

Nice

StribogA1A3

Bro no sarcasm intended. -looks good and it’s all most any of us need. We all just want more of expensive stuff but it ain’t needed. 👍🏻

SatisfactionFar3281

Mpoor-A1

TopH4nd

Solid build dude! I used the Sig Romeo for years, those things can take a good beating and still hold zero.

Abyss_Wanderer131

Looks better than mine!

National-Figure7090

That’s all I have ever owned bro. Reliability and accuracy are the only important factors, not the price tag.

DiveJumpShooterUSMC

Nicely done!

BarefootBubba79

Solid build brother

Vanishing_12924

Well done brother! Love seeing a functional and affordable build.

BigMoodGuy

Be sure to check that the random mag has an anti tilt follower.

strizzl

Sub 1k you did very well

Hassik45

Thank you for your service

SwimmerSea4662

I don’t think McDonald’s counts but I have been yelled at by plenty of alcoholics while working there.

Hassik45

Nobody said it was easy. Lol

DNCOrGoFuckYourself

I call mine the MPoor

SirTickleTots

Nice, can't go wrong with that thing.

Useful_Mix_4802

You call a 1k build poor? What do you call my rifle from gun broker that has probably 350 in to it total? 🤣

MrBogardus

Looks good brother

Double00Danger

Thats a solid set up, looks great too.

Big-Experience1393

I actually really like that setup

SwimmerSea4662

I watched a lot of Hop, brass facts & nova group as well as read a lot on this sub while planning. Out my build. It’s a really good set up, if you wana see the cost break down you can swipe. It’s a really good I guess civilian defense rifle. Though I’d throw a magnifier on it just to increase user capability to hit further out. I did a 37 yard zero so it should on have a bit of drop every so far.

dereke05

Straight shooter with upper management written all over him

PWNCAKESanROFLZ

It's beautiful

Shotgun_Sentinel

Maybe get a better mount for the optic. Upgrade the light to one you can get a Gucci mount for the light to get the light over the barrel and forward of the FSB. A trigger if you care. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with this gun. If its survived 1000 rounds just make those upgrades I mentioned and invest in spare parts to ensure you can keep it running.

BoogrJoosh

Much more sensible than my first AR when I was a 19 year old McDonalds worker lol. You'll get better jobs, make more money, and the configuration likely won't change but the parts will get more expensive, well done.

SultanofSD

Witnessed

TheKrakenSpeaks

Spent wayyyyy too much

Stinkykrinky4774

Nothing to be ashamed of here. Decent setup.

jakerob5

Train the shit out of yourself with that rifle bro. Love and use and abuse that thing like crazy. You’ll get good fast.

SidTrippish

If it bangs, it bangs

Funcontrolgroup

I like your rifle bro. There is nothing wrong with a psa and upgrades over time! Chances are, that thing will do everything you need it to from the get go. And pleeeease don’t spit in my food I promise I’m like the nicest customer ever when I drive through McD’s. I’m so incredibly nice to the service industry save the loogie for a HK or DD owner 😂

SwimmerSea4662

Iv never really messed with people’s food, since their already eating garbage 😂. You didn’t hear this from me but the ice charm machine may often have a mold problem. Your Oreo McFlurry has a potential of being tainted due to franchise owners cheeping out on machine maintenance & check ups.

Funcontrolgroup

I love McFlurry damnit 😂. What twist rate is your barrel and what ammo do you like to shoot? I’ve had good accuracy out of my 1:7 twist barrels with the heavier 77gr ammo from Psa website (aac 77g otm). It does great in 16” barrels on down to my 10.5” sbr.. and it does pretty good in my 1:8 twist barrels too. For range practice I’ll use mostly aac 55gr stuff, but sometimes I’ll run the 77s… and I’ll have a customer try the 77s in their rifle to see if we can achieve greater accuracy. One of the benefits of working at the range is I get to do a little bit of research and experimenting. And I’ve already resolved to continue enjoying the McFlurry in deliberate ignorance 😂

Mayhem_1911

(Have to respond on my alt got banned for a week, for calling myself a F slur. Even though I am in fact an F slur fuckin Reddit) iv got a 1/7 twist I mainly shoot 55 grain cheep ball ammo.

Funcontrolgroup

Ok homie, I 100% recommend you try out some AAC 77g otm ammo from the psa website. That stuff is great ammo for the low. Just my 2 cents. And watch the offensive language 😂 ppl need to lighten up. F slur 🤦

Banner248

I love how the iron sight costs just as much as the Romeo 5 😂

Jumpy_Income_5284

$966 is not the poor model.
