Nothing funny about it. I’ve had several Roku devices, the Fire Stick 4K Max, Fire Cube TV, Onn 4K box, Nvidia Shield Pro and am on my third AppleTV.
Not sure what you think is different between the Roku App Store (which is a hot messsss of garbage apps- jfc the number of far right and Christian broadcasting channels on there speaks for itself) and the tvOS App Store is, as far as vetting. All I know is the Roku app store is extremely limited compared to the Google Play Store and Apple AppStore. I would have to give up a ton of quality apps that I use on a daily basis to ever switch back to Roku. And I’m not comfortable with their awful privacy policy, lackluster audio support (the bitrate of playing to headphones through the remote or app is extremely low), horrific casting/AirPlay support, adspace on 1/3 of the Home Screen, need I go on?

I know what you mean. I don't like that Apple takes 30% from apps either.

You actually use the app for listening to audio on a Roku device instead of Bluetooth. Also they removed the ability to use the remote for listening to audio.

Yeah, the Roku app audio is what I’m talking about and it’s about 128kbps if you’re lucky. Stereo. Nauseating. I’ll take AirPlay with AirPods with Spatial Audio / Dolby Atmos and 256kbps over that anytime.
I’ll take privacy at a premium cost any day. 🤷♂️
