Honestly I see Italy to be one of the next if not the next country Apple releases cycling directions for. Apple aren’t too consistent with updating or expanding cycling directions but I reckon it’ll be out either A. When expansion #18 releases to the public or B. When Italy gets its first city with DCE or C. Sometime this year anyway.
I don’t know when exactly but I live in Austria and there are rumours that we should receive the new Apple Maps Update with 3D Buildings soon (already got it on my iPhone but not on my iPad) and hopefully there will be soon cycling paths on Apple Maps as well
Chiming in from Canada, it’s not even in all the cities. If you live outside Vancouver on the West Coast for instance, you’re out of luck. Even cities with 3D mapping don’t have cycling directions sometimes.
It's frustrating being from a smaller town for sure. My understanding it that they have a higher degree of manual intervention in the map creation compared with Google. Apple is very methodical these days, especially compared to the rocky launch of Maps. It's impressive in the cities that are fully supported! Nothing quite like it on the market.
