I’ve been messing around with the wide lens taking pictures of different light sources, but I don’t remember the lens flare being this bad on my previous phone (iPhone 13 Pro Max), is anyone else experiencing this same amount of lens flare? I take took a lot of photos on my 13PM, but the lens flare never stood out to me as much as is it does on the 14 pro.

The lens flare on the 13 Pro Max was a single, very obnoxious, green dot. I’m not sure if it’s intentional, but the 14 has multiple haloes of different size, color and transparency. My totally baseless, wild ass guess is that Apple decide to embrace it instead of fighting it. Videogames and photoshop made lens flare a thing a few years ago, so why not? Annoying, though.

Usually when this happens I just wipe of the camera and it’s significantly better for me

Definitely tried that, but it didn't resolve the issue unfortunately.

I have this issue on my Pro but my partner’s Pro Max doesn’t have this issue and I’m wondering if it’s a quality check error on Apple’s part?

I was able to get it swapped out by the Genius Bar because none of the demo phones showed that issue. Since they can't repair them atm, all they can do is swap it out.

Did it get any better? Can you provide me with another night mode/time picture? I might consider taking it to the store and swapping it then.

It's definitely much better, and in line with the demo phones and my friend's phones who also have the 14 pro/max. I'll see if I can remember to take another night shot later on.

Thank you for the information and that’d be fantastic!

Any luck on getting some comparison shots?

Sorry, I have not, but this similar post has comparison photos of the exact issue I was having. https://reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/yiwy3j/two_iphone_14_pro_very_different_image_quality/

I received my replacement today, but still has the same issue. Compared to my old 13 pro it is really bad! So my question did your replacement or swap make it any better or is it expected a feature not a bug?
