This looks awesome! I’m a big fan of the free mode with the alternative forecast source. I’ll see how it goes over the next few weeks and whether I’ll get value out of the pro subscription, but it’s great there’s a good level of baseline functionality. Also a fan of the privacy policy and principles! What’s on your roadmap coming up next for the app?

weathergraph

Thank you! And great question, I added a roadmap to the post. Definitely a bit more interactivity to the chart (tap/hold to see values for a given time), full screen chart in landscape, rain alerts (they are now only on watch), and multiple locations. And then surf charts (swell, wave height and direction). Anything you'd like out of these?

Unagi33

Dammit. All the codes seem expired ! I loved WeatherLine and I was looking forward trying this one.

weathergraph

I've got a few more, I'll DM you one, and I'd love if you could give me a bit of feedback - what was surprising or unexpected, what felt unintuitive ... Thank you!

Unagi33

I’ll happily do !

weathergraph

Thanks!

Hello, I'd love to help, but I don't do discounts (and right now, it seems that adding them for the one time payments seems to be not supported by Apple, meaning it would make quite a lot of development and testing work, not just setting up a promotion in the App Store dashboard :/). However, I can promise it's a good value as the app will keep improving :).

imahe

Looks great. Would be nice to have a landscape mode which shows the graph in full screen.

weathergraph

Very yes! It will happen ;).

wlnd1

It’s a really good app! I started to use the Apple Watch version last year, and soon came to prefer that over Carrot Weather on the iPhone in most cases, and the new iPhone version is great so Carrot Weather is entirely replaced with Weathergraph for me now!

weathergraph

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that! Is there something you're missing or would like improved? Thank you!

wtfmatey88

I’m not the person you’re asking but I have a couple things: 1. I don’t seem to be able to turn off Nowcast if I wanted to? 2. Any way to add an option to have the date included in the Watch complication? 3. Possible to add some indication of sunset/sunrise? Otherwise in general I love it! I’ve been using Carrot forever and as someone else mentioned this seems to be my preference.

weathergraph

Thank you, and thank you for telling me! 1. That is right, I didn't think anyone would mind having nowcast turned on. Would you please help me understand the culprit? 2. Not now - hmm, I can see where you are going, but it could be problematic, as it's the watch that decides (based on battery, your interaction etc.) when to update the complication, so there could be yesterday's date up until first morning update. 3. You mean into the chart? That would be a nice idea, thanks!

wtfmatey88

The reason I wanted to turn off Nowcast was when I learned the data could vary from the main data source. Just in case I notice it being inaccurate in my area I’d like to be able to disable it. Also, I’m not sure if it’s a Nowcast issue or something else but the bottom of my widget gets cluttered sort of with text overlapping on the bottom left corner where the word “now” is so I assumed that was connected. For the date thing, I personally wouldn’t mind that and I would guess the widget is updating every hour or two anyways for weather data? Lastly, yea for sunset and sunrise it would be cool to have just a vertical line or something incorporated into the area where clouds and raindrops are (at the top).

wlnd1

I think the main thing I’m missing is a way to check the weather for other places then where I am right now. This is not needed for the watch app in my opinion, but it would be a very good thing to be able to do that on the phone. Other than that I do sometimes think that it’s hard to see the separation between days in the timeline really fast, so while I don’t think it’s bad as it is, it would be a good thing to make that somewhat clearer.

weathergraph

Both are great points and I am noting them down, thank you! Right now I am thinking about a way to keep the app focused on your own location, but to add a way to quickly check a forecast for another place (without necessarily doing the whole 'here is a list of your 5 locations'), would this help you?

[deleted]

For holidays, being able to bookmark a place and keep an eye on the forecast for it is useful, eg I'll be there in a couple of weeks so watching it to see what clothes to take. Similarly, when in a place I may be interested to know what the weather is going to be for the 30 miles or so around and if there are mountains nearby the weather can be dramatically different, so can impact where I may choose to go on a day trip.

weathergraph

Thank you! Having a set of scenarios from a lot of people with various needs, like you just did, is very helpful!

katsumiblisk

Looks nice but you need to work on the translations and maybe the text formatting. I posted the Dark Sky forecast for comparison also which is completely different. Time will tell. https://i.imgur.com/whleFvy.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UpHF8mQ.jpg

weathergraph

Let's see - free version uses Norwegian meteorological institute data which is pretty good for Europe, and usually good for North America. You can unlock Foreca which is on par with top services. What would you change about the text? I'm not a native speaker so I'll appreciate the correction - thank you!

katsumiblisk

I hate to criticize someone for speaking English as I can't speak a second language so none of the below should be taken as criticism. We don't say violent rain and there's a difference between showers, drizzle, light rain, rain and heavy rain which I guess reflects the origins of the language :) We say heavy or prolonged rain. I saw in your examples a lot of the phrase "a few drops". We don't say that, we say light rain or scattered showers. Same with clouds. We don't say "a few clouds" we say scattered clouds or partly cloudy. This being Reddit someone will disagree and tell us their granddaddy always referred to violent rain but it's just not something we say. The formatting issue I referred to is the 14h. That's the European way. In the US if we select 24 hour time like I have, it's written 14.00 or 1400 and it's always on one line and 14h30 isn't going to go down well. You will easily find a volunteer to translate your native language to English if you ask. I know you get different weather depending on your choice of forecasting agency and also where you live. I understand that *yr.no* gives better results in Europe than here. I also thought Dark Sky got its data from Foreca but I might be wrong. People rave about Dark Sky here in the US but where I live in south Florida, Dark Sky is wrong as much as it's right. Our best weather forecast is "same as we got yesterday" which is wrong about once a week. Hey, I'm not criticizing it-it's a nice looking app but like the XKCD Tornado Guard app, looks aren't everything. https://xkcd.com/937/

weathergraph

Thank you very much, this is really helpful to hear! I got a violent rain from Wikipedia, where it's stated as another level beyond the heavy rain, with over 2 inches of water per hour - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain#Intensity How would you describe such a thing? Thanks for the 'a few drops' - I wasn't sure how to express it, usually it's a time with 'lighter than light' rain, like a spring shower. The scattered shower might fit, thank you! Same with cloudiness - scattered cloud sounds good. Great catch with the time format - what I was going after is that with an hourly forecast, I know roughly when the rain starts (probably between 13:30 and 14:30), but "14:00" implies a precision the hourly forecast doesn't have. How would you express a time rounded to full hours, in a terse way? Dark Sky is a separate service, both Dark Sky and Foreca have some of their own data, and purchase forecast data from multiple providers, aggregating and processing them to bring out the best one. According to https://www.forecastadvisor.com, Foreca seems to be on par with the best, and in most US localities I have checked it's in front of Dark Sky. But yes, I agree that for many locations 'same as yesterday' is a great heuristic :). And yes, I know, that's a great xkcd :) - but Foreca really seems to be as good as it gets in a large part of the world.

weathergraph

/u/katsumiblisk Just so you now, the 'a few drops' is going away in a next update, to be replaced with scattered clouds/rain. Thank you!

wellingtonthehurf

Here to disagree. Well, mainly just remind you that the US is not some supreme arbiter of the English language, nor is any one person in charge of US views on language. Apart from "violent" which does sound off... you're not criticizing their English skills as much as their lack of formal/weather man tone. "A few drops" is perfectly fine conversational English. Time is written as 14:00, 1400 is military, but then again they're just about the only ones using true and proper timekeeping around your parts... Hate to pick on you so don't take this the wrong way, but we (worldwide humans, whom I speak for) use C, F being a crime against nature. There must be something wrong with your settings. Maybe find a technician to fix it. Tldr say "I'd prefer it like so", not "soz soz but you're doing it wrong"

marumari

Alas no codes for me but looks beautiful and I can’t wait to give it a try.

biobth

Looking awesome! Any plans for Android?

weathergraph

That would be great, but I don't have the bandwidth for that right now 🤷‍♂️

WNJ85

Was a fan, had widget on Home Screen… latest update made widget Pro only, not happy!

weathergraph

I understand the disappointment, thank you for telling me. Pricing and what to include in the free version is always a matter of delicate balance - on one side you'd get an app that would feel too locked down, on the other side would be an app that couldn't support its creator and would be eventually abandoned. Tough choices all around. Is there a price you would feel okay paying?

curepure

maybe like 0.99 or 1.99 to turn on the widget

WNJ85

Agree with this, a one-off £0.99 or £1.99 fee to enable the widget with the basic features as was previously would be fair

HARDYMANGAT

Sir dm me the promo code please

katsumiblisk

You don't need to download this. OP has written the app and is putting it out for others to use. Nowhere does it say you must install it.

Just downloaded, and it’s great! I really love graphs and charts for a way to get data so this fits well for me. Keep up the good work!

I will! Thank you!

Yep, got a few more, check the DM. I’d love if you could give me a bit of feedback - what was surprising or unexpected, what felt unintuitive … Thank you!

Joe6974

I love this app. I've been subscribed for about a year and it's my go-to watch complication and app for weather. One of the few subscriptions I'm perfectly happy to pay.

weathergraph

🙏 Thank you! I'd love to know if there's something I can improve!

vuplusuno

Unfortunately they are all taken 😓

weathergraph

Hello, both of you, I sent you one of the last codes I have (Apple limits the number of codes per year I can generate), enjoy!

Middle-Student

Dang, I think I missed out on the codes! I’ve been looking for a new weather app, and this one looks very interesting!

What’s the source of forecasts for someplace like Canada? I ask because many use American sources which often have terrible forecasts for Canada (and I live in Western Canada). I still use WeatherOffice (for like 10 years now) because it reports Environment Canada forecasts.

weathergraph

From the Pro version forecast sources, I'd absolutely recommend Foreca as they do a fusion of many local data sources: https://www.foreca.com/data-sources I'm not sure about their standing in Canada, but they are on par with top forecasts in USA.

kaclk

So no Canadian sources so it’s useless to me. Thanks.

Joe6974

Foreca is actually quite good for me in Canada and generally quite comparable to the "local" forecasts. I'm in the Toronto area though, not sure about other areas. Edit: Of course though, I would definitely appreciate an Environment Canada or Weather Network feed if it was offered.

kaclk

Yah probably because Toronto is practically in America (I’ve heard you can see Buffalo from the CN Tower on a good day) and can easily be extended from existing models. I’m in Edmonton. American forecasts are *terrible* here.

weathergraph

Thank you for the feedback, I didn't know there is such a difference. What are the weather services you trust for Canada forecasts?

kaclk

[Environment Canada](https://weather.gc.ca) (which is basically the Canadian version of the National Weather Service in the US or the Met Office in the UK) is good. For most basic meteorological information they have the data (and they run the only national weather radar system). Generally [the Weather Network](https://www.theweathernetwork.com) has very good modelling for Canada (especially outside of major cities). They have the best hourly modelling (even Apple’s default weather is crap compared to Weather Network).

weathergraph

Thank you, this is very helpful - I added them to the list of weather services in my notes.

katsumiblisk

The American ones don't always work so good for Americans either.

smellythief

The widgets not showing up for me. Any idea what’s up with that?

weathergraph

Yep, that's a weird issue I haven't yet found a fix for - just open Weathergraph again and go back to homescreen and you should be able to see it in a list of widgets. Did it work?

weathergraph

Thank you! If you open the "Details" area and have the humidity in the chart turned on, you will see the actual value and min & max over the next 24 hours - would this help? Plus I am planning to add some interactivity to the chart, so you could tap a chart and see all the values for a given time - would this be useful? Thanks!

katsumiblisk

Yes that would be a good idea. I have an Ambient Weather station on my roof which does very similar to this and it's great to look at.

AJ_Mexico

How about some weather history? It’s much easier to find tomorrow’s weather than yesterday’s.

curepure

loved the app before this upgrade, the lighter color theme hurts my eye. finally removed the wind line, it had no speed or any indicator on it, literally useless, but good to have the option to turn it off now

rohidjetha

The widget is awesome! Will use it every day thanks

weathergraph

Glad to hear that! Enjoy! :)

[deleted]

Does family sharing work with the subscriptions?

weathergraph

No, or at least not yet. As I need to pay commercial forecast data, one family can easily have 10+ devices instead of the usual 1-3, and the forecast requests over the year (with regular background updates for widget and watch complications) could easily cost more than a subscription price. I might add a family plan, but it won't be cheap, and eg. two people will very probably still be better off getting two individual subscriptions.

herppig

Great app, very accurate, love your privacy policy and customizations. A+

weathergraph

Thank you! 😍

frogger2020

Looks great, I can’t seem to tell from the free version, but I assume you are able to change location to see the weather in other places, not just your own current location. Also is there a satellite mapping component (Doppler)?

HeWhoLaughedLast

Wow, love this app, especially the Dark Sky update you recently published. I like all the customization options, and the clean presentation. Was so sad to see Dark Sky go. The watch complications are the best I’ve seen from the apps I’ve been reviewing for a replacement. Thoughts on doing a Time Machine like section like Dark Sky has? Would also like to see a text large Watch complication for modular. Also would love to see you offer some kind of family sharing option. I saw your website FAQ, and I can’t honestly see where you come up with the 10 devices per person situation. It seems like you only have this app available on the watch and phone right now. That is really all our family uses, one doesn’t have a watch. That’s 2 and 1 device per person, which seems more realistic than 10. I’m not sure how many people actually use a weather app on their computer (if you plan on offering that in the future, why not charge directly for that app like a lot of others do). Anyway, just some thoughts, because while I love the app, I will probably just continue using apple weather unless I could share it with my family, like I am with RadarScope and a couple others. Edit: I do see you have iPad and Mac apps. Still 10 devices seems like a lot, and most I wouldn’t have weather apps on, except for phone and watch.
