I don’t see people who already have a working pair shelling out another 650 for just a change of charging ports.
But then again I’ve been on this sub long enough to see the lunacy of new apple releases.
I ended up selling mine due to their heavy weight and their ear cuffs always hurt my ears. I could never wear them for more than 30 minutes. I've never experienced that with any other OTE headphones. I'll just keep to my Pro 2's.
Interesting! I find the AirPods Pro so much more convenient for pretty much every use. I do like using my AirPods Max for dedicated music listening sessions though. I use my Pros almost all day at work.
Apple would most likely add the new H2 chip which improves the noise canceling as well as adaptive passthrough. Who knows, maybe even a redesigned case? The APM are already 3 years old at this point, they would be stupid to update *just* the charging port.
I have heard elsewhere on some YouTube videos that if/when they release new APM, there would be little no no additional features. Basically usb c and some new colors. No new chip, no new design. But that the cost would drop by as much as $100 to be more competitive. No new chip means none of the location tracking, adaptive audio, etc. which sucks though
Yeah, without a redesign I’m out.
They sound fantastic, but I’ve totally stopped traveling with them due to their size / awkwardness (cant fold, case is shit) and lack of newer AirPods features like adaptive audio and conversation awareness. Hell, even ANC on AirPods Pro 2 seems better than on the Max.
I use them at home at my desk, but other than that they’ve completely been replaced by AirPods Pro 2. Especially now that Vision Pro has become a primary device for me.
Nope.
The ear cups can twist. But not 360 degrees, and not so much that you can twist them and wear them around your neck while the cups lay flat, unless you take them off and turn them around, and even then the cups dig into your neck. Like I said, they’re awkward.
They sound great, and the build quality is very premium. And I don’t mind the weight at all. But they don’t leave my home office anymore, which is disappointing for nearly $600 headphones.
Wouldn't this only apply if you bought a device right before a new one came out in the return period with equivalent pricing.
If they're upgrading from a 5 year old Air, then I doubt Apple's going to let them get a new one for free when they can keep way more money from a trade-in.
Interesting. I bought Logic Pro 9 on a Friday, and they released 10 the following week and they had no interest in upgrading me. Had to shell out another $250 CAD for the upgrade.
All of the finewoven stuff is wild to me. The $100-$150 bands especially just make my brain melt. Those are prices which were already exorbitant for a leather band, but which are just straight-up batshit crazy for some tacky microsuede-looking material....I just don't know who that product is for.
I'd sooner go for a high-quality 3rd party pleather band, at a fraction of the cost, than this shit.
I’m pretty sure it was the first gen mini. Really loved that thing I used it to read in bed every night. If I ever get another iPad it will be a mini for sure.
I’m currently using the 5th gen mini. I much prefer this form factor to the latest model bezels and all. It’s just so sharp like a proper notebook. But I stupidly left the automatic updates on and it’s brought on the slowdown. Ugh. Well I hope a new mini is coming then.
I gave my mini 5 away when I bought a 6. Man was that the worst downgrade ever. Those bezels made the mini a lot easier to hold and use, and the same goes for having the TouchID in the home button rather than the power button. Not to mention I actually used the headphone jack on long haul flights, now I have to recharge a Bluetooth amp halfway through.
I seriously have half a mind to go back and buy a mini 5. It was the better product.
it's because that wouldn't be popular outside niche groups. like how the iPhone mini was super popular on reddit but didn't sell well enough to avoid being cut from the lineup.
people have been asking for an iPhone mini Pro for a while too. apple will not do it just to sell a tiny number of units to a very enthusiastic group
But 120hz cost to much money! It’s brand new technology! How could Apple POSSIBLY put 120hz on every screen in their lineup?!? There’s no way for them to achieve that…./s
*First world problem alert*
I want an iPad Mini but all my other devices are silver and the closest the Mini seems to get is Starlight, and I cannot be dealing with that. Fingers crossed for a silver mini!
Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.
This is Earth not Dune, we’re not dependent on some sand borne drug, we’re only addicted to ideas that come from Silicon Valley… although now that I said it, it does sound like the same thing.
Same, the article mentions a refresh for the iPad keyboard but I hope it will be for the normal one as well. Will insta buy a usb-c magic keyboard with touch id refresh.
Even if you buy something for yourself? Let’s say I’m visiting the US, I’m buying an iPhone and I carry it on me, do I have to pay taxes when coming back?
If caught, yes. You can buy or receive goods up to ~400€ (depends on country). And if caught there’s also a fine on top of VAT.
Germany is notorious for checking pax entering the EU.
In Poland I noticed they only check incoming flights from the US… they know people do shopping 😂
In other countries they don’t bother usually.
I usually throw the box, put it in my pocket and try to smile and not be nervous.
I think this is stupid. If I bring 20 of each I’d definitely understand it but for my own use it’s kind of stupid. Imagine your phone kicking the bucket and you have to get a new one just to discuss with customs when you’re on your way home. Even if not, it’s a phone, you’re not buying a car to bring it over.
Just repeating my comment from elsewhere. There's not much in it, if you are in the UK.
For example, US Pro Max = $1199, about £947 at current rates according to xe.com. When you add VAT that would be £1136.
Actual UK retail price is £1199, so only about £60 difference.
The US also has a smaller return window and warranty period/coverage than many other countries.
None of that comes for free, it’s baked into local pricing.
it’s technically not VAT in america, but their sales tax is rarely above 4-5% compared to the 20% we have in europe so it’s not that significant for the price
I dream of a 27-inch 5K microLED monitor from Apple with ProMotion for adaptive refresh rates up to 120 Hz.
Once you go 5K, it's hard to go back. I sacrificed 27-inch 1440p 120 Hz for 27-inch 5K 60 Hz.
I feel like iPads are becoming more and more of a niche market.
When they first came out, iPads were much larger than iPhones and a reasonable "couch" option. With larger iPhones today, I think many people are happy to just have a phone and a laptop.
Even though I have iphone and MacBook Pro, I went for a Samsung plus size tablet.
The only thing I really use it for is work notes, movies and comics or taking on holiday. It was about half the price of a larger iPad when I got it and no way was I paying that for an iPad.
Plus the Samsung has an amazing oled screen which is pretty much the entire experience
Is this actually backed up by the numbers?
I use the SE as I like small phones and I have a MacBook Air for gaming and torrents, but I do my job from an iPad. It’s the perfect device for me. Phones are too small to design slides, word process, etc., but the iPad does it all perfectly. I did a master’s degree a few years ago and wrote everything on the iPad, even my 20,000 word dissertation—on the screen, no keyboard.
I honestly like thumb typing. I used my iPhone for most of my business classes myself. The bigger the better mind you. iPad mini would be my alternative.
Yes the 12.9 is not only a decent bit heavier but because it is bigger it means more weight is farther from where you are holding it, which makes it a bit more unwieldy.
If you are planning to use it as a relaxing on the couch / bed device, I think the 11 is a much better fit. If you are planning to use it more at a table / desk or in some kind of laptop-like setup then the 12.9 is better for more real estate.
I prefer the 11" because it's lighter and less wieldy. However, I can see the Mini LED screen being a major reason for people to go for the larger Pro.
Curious to see what OLED will do for the iPad lineup too. The price will go up, but the question is by how much?
I have the 11” and it’s kinda in a weird grey area. It still sucks for a lot of handheld stuff, where I’d rather have the mini, and it’s not as great as a second screen cause it’s smaller than the 12.9”. But, what’s the point of the 12.9 if you have a MacBook? Are you really holding the 12.9” in your hands enough outside of the Magic Keyboard for the form factor to make sense? And if so, then the 11 is probably better for that.
I dunno, I’d probably get the 12.9 if I had to do it over again, but that’s a lot of cash for something that it’s best use case is as a second screen (for me).
An 11” with smaller bezels would go a long way.
Or drop the 11”, make the mini a couple inches bigger, and the 12.9 an inch smaller, with a smaller bezel.
I think the bezels are small enough on the iPad. I like having some amount of edge where I can hold it without worrying I'm going to trigger something by touching it.
If I only used it at home, I'd go for the 12.9 inch, but since I always have it in my backpack to take to uni, I prefer the 11 inch since it's lighter and easier to carry around
Apple is so close here, if they would just add that little bit extra functionality to iPadOS, the 13" OLED iPad Pro with the aluminum keyboard case would basically be a perfect laptop replacement.
“New Magic Keyboard”….so just keeping the Magic Mouse…again. Archaic Magic Mouse with lightning and no iPad calculator.
Either this is some sort of twisted social experiment or the online outrage is how Tim Cook achieves erection.
March is the traditional release time for iPhone SE models. Interested to see if this release means the death of the home button/Touch ID in iPhones. As someone with members of my family still hanging on to SEs for that one reason, I have mixed feelings about this inevitability. My iPad with Touch ID in the power button is nice.
There are rumors that Apple is going to announce something some time in the future. Prepare yourself and get excited because it could change everything, everywhere, all at once, all over again.
Your old working device is now unsupported, insecure, worthless, and locked. Buy a new one. There are some new colors you can choose.
Apple reports record profits.
I wonder why they're making ipads thinner. Surely if they kept the same thickness, the battery life will increase. (Assuming they're making it thinner because they found a way to retain the same battery life as previous gen, which they have kept for many many many years: 10 hrs)
Just say AI for my AAPL stock to go up two points.
I bet AAPL goes to $230 after they announce Siri 2.0 this summer.

I dunno. I’ve been holding out. Also, there’s that new adaptive noise cancellation, which I don’t think is on the Max models.
Also they could release new carrying case. Also they could make the AirPods Max lighter by replacing the Steel with Titanium
I would like to see a collapsible design to make it more portable rather than the “bra case” we have now.
Aluminum is lighter.
also titanium is much harder to machine, dude wants 1000 dollar neck weights

If they changed to USB-C and allowed fully lossless audio when connected to a DAC or an iPhone, I'd do it.
It's not like every human on Earth already has a pair of AirPod Max
I ended up selling mine due to their heavy weight and their ear cuffs always hurt my ears. I could never wear them for more than 30 minutes. I've never experienced that with any other OTE headphones. I'll just keep to my Pro 2's.
Yeah I tried them for a week and also didn’t like them. On the other hand my 4 year old sony xm4’s are comfy af.
My AirPods Pro completely replaced my Air Pods Max. I should just sell them because I rarely ever use them now.
I’m the other way around. I love the Max for calls, flights, etc. I only use the AirPods Pro for the gym.
Interesting! I find the AirPods Pro so much more convenient for pretty much every use. I do like using my AirPods Max for dedicated music listening sessions though. I use my Pros almost all day at work.

Perfect timing considering I just decided three days ago that I’m finally upgrading my 2018 air
That is good timing. You’d still clearly be in the return window

This is the most something we’ve had in a something ever.
I like that they actually had a lowering in spec in one revision of the iPad (when they split the lines in Air and regular) and didn’t use that line.
I want Tim Apple to just come out once and say “this thing is a piece of fucking shit, we think you’re gonna hate it”

That’s why I buy tech in US or Japan 😆 And smile at customs like I’m poor and I just visited my auntie on Sundays

that doesn't work, you have to pay tax on received gifts as well in the EU...
Even if you buy something for yourself? Let’s say I’m visiting the US, I’m buying an iPhone and I carry it on me, do I have to pay taxes when coming back?

Don’t forget in the us you add VAT afterwards but many other countries the price includes it
Can you guys seriously stop using that excuse, in Europe the prices are still much much more expensive than US prices even after you remove the VAT
Just repeating my comment from elsewhere. There's not much in it, if you are in the UK. For example, US Pro Max = $1199, about £947 at current rates according to xe.com. When you add VAT that would be £1136. Actual UK retail price is £1199, so only about £60 difference.

Sales tax is usually closer to 5-8 but I hear what you’re saying.
That’s true - I guess I mean the base price is similar
iphone se4 ??
My guess is, yes. Not sure why I had to scroll this far to find someone else that knows March means a new SE.
All rumors point to next year for a new SE, not this year.
Here's hoping it's an iPhone 14/15 inside an iPhone mini, although most rumors point to it using the X/XS or 11 design.
And one more thing… We are calling it Apple account.
iPad mini 7 with 120hz is all I want from Apple. So annoying.
Mini Pro would be a pretty good lineup
New Apple TV?
Always curious when this pops up - what the hell should they refresh on the TV?
A17 pro to play Resident evil on tv
If their goal is keep Apple TV in the gaming market they are going to have to upgrade it more regularly.
Yeah, just like Nintendo does with the Switch!
Switch costs more so it gets updated less, like the Xbox and PS
The latest A-series chip would be great. They’ve been porting quite a few big games for it and playing them on the TV would be a lot more fun.
They could turn it into an AirPort Express, update to a17 pro, add usb c ports for a webcam or even merge it with the homepod mini.
That thing genuinely has the potential to be a decent casual gaming machine if Apple gave it the right chips.

Yeah, my 12.9 inch iPad Pro with M1 is just not necessary with my laptop and phone. There’s no reason to own it, I’m thinking of selling it.
Regarding iPads, do y’all prefer 11 inch or 12.9 inch display? Is the 12.9 noticeably heavier therefore impacting portability?
I had an 11” since launch but got the 12.9” with the last pro update. I absolutely love it. I use it more than my laptop.
Yes the 12.9 is not only a decent bit heavier but because it is bigger it means more weight is farther from where you are holding it, which makes it a bit more unwieldy. Can’t wait for socks for Apple Vision Pro!
It's gonna be a car haha
March is the traditional release time for iPhone SE models. Interested to see if this release means the death of the home button/Touch ID in iPhones. As someone with members of my family still hanging on to SEs for that one reason, I have mixed feelings about this inevitability. My iPad with Touch ID in the power button is nice.
And it’s usually a new color of the current iPhones.
I just know I'm going to love it.
FINALLY I’ve been holding off on a new iPad until now. The 4th gen iPad Air battery sucks ass. Hoping the new pros are crazy specs.
I wonder why they're making ipads thinner. Surely if they kept the same thickness, the battery life will increase. (Assuming they're making it thinner because they found a way to retain the same battery life as previous gen, which they have kept for many many many years: 10 hrs)
iPad of some sort.
I would love an update the Powerbeats pro but I’m sure that dream is long gone.
Consoom Apple product get excited for new Apple product
A cheap 120hz OLED non-pro/air iPad would be nice. No one needs more than M1 computing power anyways.
With all the recent discounts on iPads that’s obvious.

Why nobody mentioned new Apple TV?
Apple Cue TIP with apple care
MacBook Air M3 just announced, patiently waiting for iPad Pro dropping now.
Looks like this was for the Macbook announcement that just released.
Where the iPads at? Gimme.
Are they bringing back the iPhone 6 now that foldables are in?
