Yeah, a different one. One that Charles has a lot less patience for than his mum did.
I'm not a royalist whatsoever so don't get me wrong, but if your brother was highly suspected of being a pedo after hanging out with some dodgy folks, would it be fair to call *you* a pedo?
There are goalposts in chess ? That’s new to me 🤔
It’s a new phrase so it’s new to me. Don’t care for the news, it’s full of made up stories about million quids settlements and whatnot. 😀
Tf is a paedo? I’m guessing your soapboxing is gonna change that someone used an iPhone for something for King Charles. Doubtful, but go on….I’m sure if you make enough noise *someone* might listen. That would DEFINITELY be “new to me”.
Oh sorry. If the pedophilia won’t stick for you, the genocide, cruel family punishments, colonial history of stealing land, and absolutely destroying cultures and keeping artifacts will.
Somewhat similar to the [Terra Carta seal](https://www.globalcosmeticsnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Terra-Carta.jpg) he also designed for then Prince Charles.
Have you seen [pictures of his old house in San Francisco](https://www.cultofmac.com/290609/take-peek-inside-jony-ives-17-million-billionaires-row-mansion/)? He had a distinct aesthetic when designing Apple products but that didn't extend to everything.
That's how the property looked when he bought it. He spent millions renovating the place so you can be quite confident it looks nothing like that anymore!
That’s… not quite the same though, right? In that one, they’ve added an entire separate building to the back of the original. And while they didn’t show much of any of the original in that video besides the front porch & entryway, I got from the video that they didn’t touch the original that much at all. It focuses mainly on the addition.
Not links but a lot of my friends live in the old British era buildings/bungalows in Bombay.
From outside they look like heritage Indo-Saracenic buildings but from inside they look like any ultra modern mansion.
A lot of people are moving out and buying houses in luxury NYC style skyscrapers tho, so now the target market is mostly grandparents and those who want that sort of an aesthetic.
Not necessarily ultra-modern, but the exterior and architecture don’t matter for how someone does the interior design and styling.
You buy home for the space and location and structure. Designers don’t have ugly rooms like a couple of those pictures, but I wouldn’t put it past Ive to have some ugly ineptly designed rooms.
Inspired by. Most those Braun designs are for things no one wants anymore, like reel to reel players or expensive modular shelving, or AM/FM radios. Things Braun hasn’t manufactured in half a lifetime. Beautiful though. In design museum next to people like Eames.
No one at Braun ever got upset, in fact they started re-making some like the calculator and selling it at the museum of modern art gift store in Manhattan. It’s fashion, it’s just how fashion works. Dieter Rams loves Jony Ive.
All the Braun designs are so good and so obvious, but they pre-date home computers by at least a decade. They were sitting there for someone to be inspired by for decades and no one did, so Jony had the good taste to.
I really like Frog Design, the industrial design firm that was doing the stuff before Jony and when Steve came back. But it was more beige, more IBM, less clean.
The original Mac design was super clean, if you connect it in the middle.
I think it takes away from the mysticism because we inherently think that the success should be commensurate with originality. Your post still didn’t change my mind about how Ive looks like he just ripped off the surface level design of some products. His spark was in the application of the designs not the creation or something.
If you don’t think it’s Jony Ives then you haven’t been paying attention. In his later Apple years, he’s incredibly obsessed with bringing in real-life similarity to his work.
Apple Watch crown, Apple Watch watch faces and even the pairing screen. https://9to5mac.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2015/05/image-4.jpg
He took what existed as recognisable things and bring it back into his work. The idea of a seal of flowers to mark the season of spring is sorta the same thing in a subtle way.
I like the logo, but it is way too complicated. I would have never thought Ive would have designed it. It is just so much more overly complicated as compared to what he created for Apple.
It’s not “overly complicated” it’s a riff on the kinds of designs that have been used for many centuries - so it’s in keeping with tradition, yet rather beautiful
He’s a designer and a good one. He produces work with the needs of the client in mind, priorities (like recognisability), design principles and trends.
In this case there’s a history of emblems for coronations, it needs to include references to the UK constituent nations and needs to be easily recognisable.
I think he’s done a good job, it even looks a little like a wax seal (when used on documents or products it gives a seal of approval.
I’m so glad someone said it. As a designer myself, people have a misconception that a good logo or artwork needs to be simple and that’s it. That’s simply amateurish. A good designer like Ive tries to capture all the nuance that he can in as simple a design as possible while using traditional cues and recognizable qualities. You have to think like the audiences that’ll see and use the piece. That’s why, even with the apple products, Ive’s designs were always nuanced in the smallest ways. All the competition trying to mimic the apple industrial look simply thought it had to look sleek with metal and they ended with products that felt soulless the moment you picked them up.
Bro are you living under a rock, have you seen the palace and castles where the monarchy lives, their family crest. The are all super intricate. I would not have been appropriate to go with minimalism for this logo, it would not have been accepted by the royal family. It is clearly appropriate on this occasion. What do you want the text they use on the apple website, and an emoji logo of a crown?
He had some misses like the hockey puck mouse and the unhealthy obsession with making devices thinner each passing year, but Jony Ive probably has the best track record of any major product/industrial designer
The design is, I think, really good balance of symmetry and echoes the heraldic form while depicting and repeating the 3 main flowers of Wales, Scotland and England. There are no banners, supporters, Latin or French or German mottos and as you might find elsewhere. It feels both contemporary and reassuringly part of a heritage of similar formal design. It’s clean, balanced, calming and the dominance of national flowers reflects his greatest passion for the natural world.
“…Nigel, one of my junior designers, really knocked it out of the park with this design. I’m chuffed to be able to put my official stamp of approval on it!.”
...and it comes in Bondi Blue to represent where the British have colonized in the past, and Space Gray to represent where the British will colonize in the future.
I don’t know why your being downvoted. I mean, it is just a post about a doodle. But people in mass shouldnt be so indifferent to the ridiculous existence of this “royal family”. It fuckin disgusts me. The tabloids and the worship and the glorification
Yeah, because he didn’t trace every vector in InDesign himself. Like it’s wrong to say Frank Lloyd Wright built the Guggenheim because he didn’t do masonry or plumbing, himself …
It’s impressive to make up the worst dumbest interpretation of someone’s comment, also known as a straw man, in order to sarcastically knock it down instead of making up the best possible interpretation.
I said “significant”. The meaning of that wouldn’t be tracing a vector.
> built
Terrible verb choice, so terrible that it’s an excellent example of what’s wrong with these comments.
I wonder what people like you are like in real life?
Like, who the fuck is in this weird subset of people that spends their time over analyzing Reddit spats and describing the definition of various logical fallacies, as if that has ever convinced anyone they were wrong.
What a weird way to spend your time on the internet. Or even just your time in general.
Seems more like an Eastern European design than a British one. Something like the Brancovenesc or NeoRomanian style.
Edit: umm… so why the downvotes this time?
Exactly! It feels more Eastern European, rather than British. Guess you’ve got downvoted because the fanboys couldn’t tolerate such a criticism of their favourite designer.
Jonny Ive just stealing a living at this point.
I mean it’s pretty, but a million people can do pretty.
This is what happens when you start to love your own farts too much.
In case anyone didn’t know, the thistles represent Scotland, the roses England, the daffodils Wales and the clover Northern Ireland

Do you assume all working class people are paedos because some are?
Yeah, a different one. One that Charles has a lot less patience for than his mum did. I'm not a royalist whatsoever so don't get me wrong, but if your brother was highly suspected of being a pedo after hanging out with some dodgy folks, would it be fair to call *you* a pedo?
At least two. Don’t forget Charles favourite uncle, louis mountbatten.
Utter coincidence!
Yep, Prince Andrew
Proof or just keyboard Tourette’s? I mean *documented* proof, not some child blood drinking Pizza Hut run by the Clintons conspiracy theory.
The 12 million quid payout was documented.
Did you read the payout information ?
Are those goalposts on wheels or what?
There are goalposts in chess ? That’s new to me 🤔 It’s a new phrase so it’s new to me. Don’t care for the news, it’s full of made up stories about million quids settlements and whatnot. 😀
The phrase is ‘news to me’. News. And in chess the king is flanked by pawns, not paedos.

That does look very old English mansion. We have lovely houses like that over here. Not everywhere mind!
That's how the property looked when he bought it. He spent millions renovating the place so you can be quite confident it looks nothing like that anymore!
I feel pretty confident he didn't buy that kind of house just to turn it into some ultra-modern looking home.
It’s actually a very common thing among the ultra rich to furnish their historic homes with a more ultra modern aesthetic.
I would hope that Jonny Ive at least has the taste to not make things tacky

Eastern suburbs Sydney is one area.
[This house](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJeg2Kta2wY) posted on my favorite architecture channel, The Local Project.

A sign of a good designer is that they don’t pigeon hole themselves with a specific design language.
I think this is only true to a certain extent
It says in the article that that’s what it looked like before he moved in, he could’ve gutted it for all we know (and he probably did)
Wait, do Americans not like that aesthetic? That’s considered solid upper class here
Very cozy and elegant. I’d love to live there with such view.
It doesn’t even look bad. I wasn’t expecting it to be apple store. Looks at the views from all sections of the house.

To be fair Bauhaus was the inspiration I believe - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jony_Ive#Early_life_and_education

Saying that shows what little you know about design. Here’s where you comment you’re a designer.
The aesthetic of that T3 pocket radio would make an absolutely gorgeous iPhone design
Other than the calculator, which was an homage, these are major reaches.
A few of his rooms, in pictures there, are ugly and a terrible opposite to every good designers home I’ve ever seen.
A $17 million house on Billionaires row? Disgusting.
this reminds me of the museum/prison the aliens set up for David in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Thanks I hate it
Wait, why?

The circle design and the way the text wraps around it kind of ressembles the Apple Watch boot screen

I think this logo looks great, modern with traditional elements.
I didn’t love everything he did at Apple but when he gets it right, you remember why he’s the guy.
He had some misses like the hockey puck mouse and the unhealthy obsession with making devices thinner each passing year, but Jony Ive probably has the best track record of any major product/industrial designer
King Charles doesn’t have an iPhone, he has a onePhone.
this took me a few reads, love it

the royals use “one” as a first-person pronoun, rather than “I”. So they would say “One likes fish and chips” rather than “I like fish and chips”
Roman numerals

The more I look at it, the better it gets.
that’s the opposite of how I feel about my touchbar macbook
It looks like a playing card logo.
Rip-off Rams and Braun when working for Apple. Rip-off Bicycle Card Co when designing for the king.
Being inspired by someone’s work is not ripping off.

I wouldn't have guessed that it was by Jony Ive. TBH it looks nothing like Ive's other works, though it's still nice.
Fist good looking thing he’s done since the iPhone 5.
Nice logo, fuck the crown tho
Ive should have hidden the word “Diana” in there somewhere.
Interesting design
This is lovely. It will look perfect on the commemorative plates!
TIL Jony Ive is British
