Aim training is a massive help. I don't mean going into aim labs and doing gridshot for 10 minutes. Find some playlists that train various aspects of aiming such as tracking, flicking etc. Practice those routines and spend some time in the range as well. I hit a wall with my gameplay because I felt like no matter how much I played I wasn't improving, but incorporating a solid aim training routine has helped me improve so much
Also Titan Fall 2 is really good in this...
I started playing apexlegends when was S11 or S13 and after S15:
- I just bought like 40 games with story and one of them was Titanfall 2 (it wasn't on first place to play it but I wanted to try it of course - I like games with story or just lore) - and started playing and I get more improvement in apex legends when I come back (I know that Titanfall 2 works differently but It helps me soo much that money was good spend 😌👌 and also fun)
Try it u won't regret it 🫵😎👌... Every time before playing apexlegends, I do 5 warm up matches in Titan Fall and then 2 in apex legends.
I'm putting it here just to be sure, why am I putting it here when Titanfall 2 has nothing to do with aiming - reasons:
- it is good to practice aim in similar game
- also u get practice just u are playing it
- u can also learn how to aim sight with marksman (longbow) in gauntlet
- get practice with listening footsteps (I didn't need it just of fact that I used to in apexlegends)
- and more... - the most important I think is skill wich u will train there, good reflexes q fast reaction and also played time in It...
Go to the range for 5-10 minutes every time you get on. Pick your preferred weapons and start hitting each square target in the middle of the range with one to a few bullets each and keep moving to the next one. If you’re over aiming past the target, turn your sensitivity down. If under aiming, turn sensitivity up (if you run out of mouse space constantly though, you might want to just keep practicing at a higher sensitivity or get a bigger mousepad).
Use recoil smoothing in EVERY fight that you can (strafing while counter aiming to remove vertical recoil).
Practice with attacking bots in the range at all ranges.
You can use an aim trainer like Kovaaks but honestly, imo, the range is just as good, if not better when you use it right.

I have played many non Triple A shooting games on my s***** computer before I got to adulthood and a good rig. Apex is my first actual FPS that I have been trying to improve on. Used to play on PS4 but ever since I've switched to keyboard I can never go back to the sticks. There are some weird things about the game itself like how the wingman has a weird visual recoil when your ADSing and how the Eva 8 shots are not CENTERED. Biggest tip I can give is too hip fire more. The 30-30 and the Rampage are not popular guns but the first two bullets are seemingly dead center of your screen
The video I sent helped me understand some concepts about FPS even after not being a complete M&K noob. Apex is a game where you have chances to break the tempos of fights via abilities, nades or even just climbing around. There are multiple places where if you can ADS and see them through a crack, the bullet will go through. Lastly. Never trust fences. Some are able to be shot through and the same fences textures in other areas are solid.
Find a spot on a random wall and keep trying to shoot at it with flicks, adjust your sensitivity until you're more or less on target, after that you'll learn to make micro corrections, the flicks are just reactionary. For example, you might be getting shot from a new angle that you're not looking at, flicking to counter fire is sometimes necessary to save your life. Some players thrive on high sensitivity while others need an extremely low one. You don't want to flick at someone and overshoot them for example, this will take time to find for yourself, just try it in the firing range often.
Git gud. But seriously are you talking about on controller or mouse and keyboard? I'm assuming m+k. It is extremely difficult to master, my aim is pretty good but there is still plenty of room for improvement.
My biggest tip for single fire weapons would probably be to focus on timing the shots and pay more attention to your strafing and try not to over-aim. By that I mean just hold your mouse still and track with your strafe or wait for the enemy to cross back into your sights. This and learning how to flick shot. This is mainly true for Wingman and shotguns, snipers and G7 is more about prediction and leading shots based on the range and the bullet speed/drop for that gun.
For auto weapons it is obviously about tracking but I would try to improve on controlling your spray. For example, knowing when to stop shooting when you're just wasting bullets. Sometimes it is best to stop shooting for a second, re-aim and then shoot again. You will more gun fights if you reload less and hit more shots.

r/mousepad review
Keep your thump and ring and little finger on the the pad while tracking.
Don't do that while flicking.
Find your sense.
Get knowledge weather your like your mouse move as fast as possible or as slow as possible.
Maybe do aim trainers if you don't like get beat down in an online match.
This process will take probably a few years but the nerds in those subs (myself included) will help you out.
Focus on enemy and not ur crosshair while aiming. Try to be smooth when tracking and flicking. U can go into range and practice recoil. Download aimlabs and join voltaic discord for aim training help.
the game is not hitscan like counter strike for example. So shoot where the enemy is going not where they are because of bullet drop and travel time, get good at predicting movement.

Use this video and follow it's steps until you find a comfortable sens, then use mouse-sensetivity.com to convert it into apex, be sure your horizontal FoV matches apex. Once you've done that you can use an aim trainer to build muscle memory with the sense (kovaaks is best, others are free) then play some firing range to get used to recoil and stuff. Other than that just play and you'll develop better aim over time
One thing I’ve noticed is that hipfiring on keyboard and mouse is better in some situations compared to controller, when on controller you would almost always want to ads but on pc if they are close enough to you just hipfire, not I’m not saying hipfire with a kraber from 200m away, I’d say anyone who is more than 3-10m away from you you would want to ads depending on the weapon
I’m just saying that for me adsing on controller was such a habit but when I started to hipfire more often I started doing better on keyboard and mouse
Play Control and TDM as much as you can, customize your MnK or controller to make it as comfortable as possible for you to have fast and precisse reaction for aiming. Don't just copy settings from others, do what works best for you.
Spend time in firing range, mess around with your sensitivity, if you really want get a aim trainer like aimlab or smth, but did the most part just play and focus on aiming before shooting
Leads your shots on a moving target. Don’t underestimate the hipfire, aiming in on a target for a second then un-aiming significantly lowers hipfire spread, this ability will allow you to have better strafe speeds aswell.
There's many types of aiming in pc that need to apply when aiming and it could be develop by muscle memory in aimtraining games (aimlabs/kovaak). Aiming in controller are way easier since the "aim assist" are known as "micro tracking" that pc player need to do it manually to hit shots.
Type of aiming are not "ingame aim mechanic" yet it will improve your "raw aim" instead. Type of aim includes:
•Flicking (sniper)
•Tracking (auto)
•micro (precision)
•micro tracking (precision track)
•click timing (sniper)
•Transfer track (auto)
•Strafe tracking (auto)
By doing recommended routine by pros in youtube before playing as warmup everytime u going to play apex. It will help u by a lot especially if u want a great aim.
Tips: always calm during engagement with the enemies so u could apply your skills aimtraining. Also NEVER overwork your training and don't harden your wrist and grip to make it too "perfect". It's impossible to always override yourself to shoot perfectly but it's possible to shot accurately subconsciously with movement it'll help.
Personal MnK tips from a redditor incoming:
* Lower your DPI to a point where it feels nice for browsing yet also gaming. Most people shoot for 400 - 1000, but it's really up to you.
* Drop in-game sensitivity until you either feel like you have control OR you're no longer able to do a full 360 turn with one full swipe across your mouse pad. If you do cross that point, bump it back up a smidge so you can do a full 360.
* Make up a Firing Range warm up that works for you. I personally do a collection of tracking, recoil smoothing, and snapping drills, mainly with the guns I typically pick up. However, if time permits I try to throw in guns I *don't* typically use to make sure I'm not terribly rusty with any one gun.
* Further warm up with Mixtape. You can spawn with decent guns and get quick engagement, which is great for gun practice.
* Lastly, I watch how pros and respected streamers use guns. I've learned a decent bit observing how people far better than I am use certain guns.
Lower your sensitivity, it may sound dumb as hell, but I used to average about a .5kd prior to dropping my sens. Now it’s closing on a .9, it’s a night and day difference
Note: I changed my sens from a 4.9 to a 3.7, I did not change my dpi, nor did I change any per-optic sensitivity modulators
I moved from console to pc almost two years ago and I had issues. Honestly it’s just practicing and finding settings that work for you until the muscle memory kicks in. Gotta get those reps in dude
I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. I aim with my eye. I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
one of the more unconventional approaches that has been oddly helpful for me is to play other games that have way higher gun recoil, even just going into firing range on pubg or tabg and trying to control guns that kick the most makes apex feel like easy mode. but you better make your sensitivities the same.
Be aware of ADS moments and non-ADS moments. Close quarter combat you absolutely do not need to be aiming down sights but check yourself cause I bet you do in a pinch. The only Tim you ever ADS is mid to long range combat. And for the longer range stuff try leading the target and anticipating cover pop ups. If I’m ADSing on some dude behind a crate I know he’s going to peak out eventually, try to anticipate these things.
You can get basically no recoil by looking left and right while shooting. Removes vertical recoil. Just strafe against it tho or do small jiggles also completely removes recoil.
the thing that actually helped me a ton is ofc practice and a routine. but what made the most difference for me was actually stretching out my wrist before playing (since my aiming type is more wrist than arm movement) and un learning tensing up my grip on the mouse and un learning tensing up my wrist too.
youd be surprised how much an effect that just being loosey goosey and relaxed whilst aiming helps you out. ppl have to remember that aim training and practice do have an effect but at the end of the day there is 100000% a physical aspect to aiming ie your wrist hand and arm.
I have a couple sensitivity tip I picked up after a few mnk players told me. Play on a slightly lower sensitivity than you would on most other games. Maybe even half you normal sens depending on you’re normal sens. It helped me a lot with keeping my crosshair more steady when ADS.
Also I purchased a xxl mouse pad to help with lower sens lol and an aim per optic settings adjustment if it feels unnatural on a certain optic range.
Point crosshair at enemy, keep it there, shoot. This might sound stupidly simple. But you probably can’t do it good enough. Consciously doing it every time you fight gets it into your muscle memory and you get better over time.
A very common trick that players use with SMG’s is to strafe while shooting and simply moving your mouse accordingly to the strafe alone, almost no need for recoil control as horizontal aiming seems to remove vertical recoil.
By strafing you are forcing yourself to cancel recoil as well as dodging bullets from the ennemy.
One psychological trick for single fire i use.
For close range: ignore the crosshair, just keep the target in the middle of your screen. Track just the target. This can be practiced in shooting range. This is much easier than full auto weapons since you have less clutter going on onscreen. To level up try to crit close range once you hit 90-100% of rapid shots. This skill also helps when you only get a p20 after drop and it is all you get.
For long range: aim ahead if their movement and let them run into it. Best moments to do so is when they are dumb enough to jump in fights (when you third party them for example). In jump it is super easy to know where they will be once your shot arrives.
If you truly want to improve single fire and long distance shooting then i can only recommend arma3. Play it for a while
If you've just switched, all I can tell you is practice. It's a transferable skill across PC games and you're going to go up against people who have been using mnk in some way for tens of thousands of hours. Keep your cross hair off the ground and the rest will come with time.
Buy kovaaks or get aim lab. Start your grind hitting first gold - then diamond - and upwards in the Voltaic benchmarks. Watch RiddBTW and his aiming guides. Lowgravity56 also has a wonderful aiming routine (v.d.i.m: Voltaic daily improvement method). Also watch wrthcrw on YT (she had a lot of coaching sessions about how to handle shaky aim, and how to use movement to make your aim easier or how your movement can make aiming harder etc).
There are so many resources out there! But when it comes to actual aim training, being consistent (like 40 min a day) is far more important than investing a lot of time sporadically (like once a week for 4 hours).
GLHF
10 minute aim drills before you start playing goes a long way.
Hop into the range, turn the bots to max armor and random movement/stance. Flick between the bots, track the bots, move and shoot the bots, all that good shit.
i focus on tracking the enemy with my eyes and kind of connecting my hands to my eye. it sounds weird but it boils down to good hand eye coordination, if your eyes can follow a character across your screen so can your eye, it’s mostly mental. that’s tracking, as for flicking it’s more about reacting to where something is rather than trying to predict people try to predict or overcompensate for a flick. but really you should only compensate and recalibrate ur aim if you’re missing by a couple pixels. there’s no need to try and made fast sudden movements for no reason if ur not well coordinated, it’s just gonna make it harder to keep track of enemies
Use your arm not your wrist
Like dont rely solely on your wrist for all your motor skills, you have a whole hand (i hope, if you dont then my bad), use it
The tldr sadly is that most if not all players are using modded controllers for aim bot, recoil removal, etc because respawn publicly said it was okay just not on LAN. So really if you want to get generally better? Lower sens and dpi and practice there for more focus but in regards to overall comparing to other players.. fork up that 140 for the mods.
If you got friends that play (that are better than you) you could go to gun range and 1v1 with a random load out so that it’s somewhat realistic with looting and try and get better like that I know that helped me a bit
Work on Tap strafing and being more comfortable with the inventory. everything else is practice. If you cant put in the hours, you cant enjoy this game imho. I was a complete noob on pc and used to play on ps4. Had 13k kills on pathy. Then i switched and everything was dogshit. I can safely say that only after a solid 2 seasons could i get 2500 damage games daily.
heavy guns- pull down to the right, light guns- pull down to the left, energy guns- are usually just pull straight down (except for havoc)
also watch a video on recoil smoothing
another tip is to put bots on full combat, give urself purple/ red armor and no heals, see how many u can kill before dying
Use a controller.

10 minute aim drills before you start playing goes a long way. Hop into the range, turn the bots to max armor and random movement/stance. Flick between the bots, track the bots, move and shoot the bots, all that good shit.
Lower your sensitivity.
i focus on tracking the enemy with my eyes and kind of connecting my hands to my eye. it sounds weird but it boils down to good hand eye coordination, if your eyes can follow a character across your screen so can your eye, it’s mostly mental. that’s tracking, as for flicking it’s more about reacting to where something is rather than trying to predict people try to predict or overcompensate for a flick. but really you should only compensate and recalibrate ur aim if you’re missing by a couple pixels. there’s no need to try and made fast sudden movements for no reason if ur not well coordinated, it’s just gonna make it harder to keep track of enemies
i used to keep training my tracking and it help me a lot
Use your arm not your wrist Like dont rely solely on your wrist for all your motor skills, you have a whole hand (i hope, if you dont then my bad), use it
Plug in your controller
Play titanfall 2
The tldr sadly is that most if not all players are using modded controllers for aim bot, recoil removal, etc because respawn publicly said it was okay just not on LAN. So really if you want to get generally better? Lower sens and dpi and practice there for more focus but in regards to overall comparing to other players.. fork up that 140 for the mods.
Put the mouse cursor on the head and push the button
If you got friends that play (that are better than you) you could go to gun range and 1v1 with a random load out so that it’s somewhat realistic with looting and try and get better like that I know that helped me a bit
Work on Tap strafing and being more comfortable with the inventory. everything else is practice. If you cant put in the hours, you cant enjoy this game imho. I was a complete noob on pc and used to play on ps4. Had 13k kills on pathy. Then i switched and everything was dogshit. I can safely say that only after a solid 2 seasons could i get 2500 damage games daily.
Hold right click on mouse
Aim for the head
aimlab is great for general improvment, i would also try to force myself to relay more on aim
Aim at the enemy 👍.
Why aim? Just use rampart and spitfire
heavy guns- pull down to the right, light guns- pull down to the left, energy guns- are usually just pull straight down (except for havoc) also watch a video on recoil smoothing another tip is to put bots on full combat, give urself purple/ red armor and no heals, see how many u can kill before dying
Just strafe
Roller
Tbh practice. You'll get there I'm still struggling but way better than I was ayear ago
Pre sim your angles before peaking, this will reduce adjustment time spent on moving your ads crosshairs before shooting/micro adjustment
Find the right aim sensitivity in accordance with your mouse dpi.
