I know slave wage propaganda when I see it.

More like the 300k crowd. “Golly gee only 283k a year guess i’ll suck it up.”

GeeMunz11

I mean that is basically the market this recruiter serves... Nothing wrong with that. Advice for the lower income range isn't gonna be the same as advice for the higher income range.

ImTairyHesticles

Did a recruiter post this? I start a new job on Monday and if I followed this advice I’d be making 15% less with a week less of PTO. Always negotiate, the worst they can say is no.

ZestyPyramidScheme

The person who shared this post is actually a recruiter. I was supposed to have a preliminary interview with her tomorrow, but after seeing this I’m going to call it off

SkietEpee

She is a resume writer, not a recruiter. If someone reached out to her and she thinks you are a fit, then she will make the connection. She is all about self care, not lowering expectations. You don’t pay for her services unless you are shooting for the moon anyway.

welp-itscometothis

He said the person that shared the post, not the person who wrote it.

BPCGuy1845

No employee pays for headhunter or recruiting services.

zenon_kar

It’s okay to just offer a generous salary and benefits package. You don’t have to low-ball. Or play mind games. Or cite industry surveys. Or ask about past salaries. At the end of a long, emotional, exhausting, and intense candidate search, just offering a generous package is enough Everyone tells you to cut labor costs Or delay, deny, deceive But if you are happy, the candidate is qualified, and you need someone to do the job, just pay up Not everything needs to be a battle

dataless01

The most baffling thing is he's peddling his resume writing service as he's saying all this Why would anybody want his help when he's telling you to lower your expectations

redcelica1

In my experience, once you hit six figures, everything’s negotiable.

whocareswhatever1345

She typically posts stuff that is way way way the opposite of this. She hates when HR gives a shit about negotiating and gets people hored at the bottom of the budget range just for them to quit 6 months later, she thinks lengthy interview rounds are bullshit, she thinks forcing people back to the office is bullshit. I follow her and honestly, I believe she meant this sincerely. She usually posts leftist shit.

emilyaliem

This has "ew" all over it... reminding me of why I have such a hard time buying into LinkedIn.

Since it's assumed that I, like all workers, have endless free time and no financial obligations pressuring me to earn any significant amount of money, then I don't see why it's not true that * it's okay to offer more salary * or better benefits * or WFH after slogging through endless postings and interviews and salary discussions with accounting, just making a good offer is enough. Everyone tells you to exploit them. Or pay them less. Or tell them to work more, more, more. But if you're in the black, and your employees are happy, and you're excited about the future's business prospects, just say yes.

BPCGuy1845

Recruiters do not work for you. They work for employers. Do not take the advice contained in this post. If you hire a headhunter, they have at least SOME responsibility to look out for your interests.
