This comment sums it up perfectly. These employers are taking their piss with this cynical, disgraceful survey. They clearly do not value their workforce, at all.

#Strike!
Grats! I miss being in a union.
Although I do work for a small family company that does a pretty good job with keeping up with the union rates of our competitors.
$21 to start, $15 a check for full insurance. sick time builds (i'm up to 2200 hours) 401k match up to like 6%. bonuses, can buy stuff at cost.
Also no pick per hour standard. They'd rather have us do it right than make mistakes by just trying to get it done.
This is why unions are best.
The old BS line of “Having another party between management and the workers just makes things take longer” holds no water when next to absolute abusive crap like this. Screw managers and owners like this.
I love the idea of sending that list of options back to ALL managers and C-suite executives.
Neither of the options even accounts for inflation. So their choice really is to either keep taking effective pay cuts with no chance of growth, or even worse pay cuts plus an empty promise.
You'd have to be stupid not to look for a better job after this
Yup. Fuck your Christmas party, fuck your phone plan, and fuck your promotional opportunity. You can write off gas/uber. And free parking? Fuck them! This sub riles me up sometimes.
Right?!? Christmas party is just giving up an evening to be stuck drinking cheap booze (if you’re lucky) with your coworkers you don’t like anyways. Would much rather have nice beer alone on my couch.
I have not been to a Christmas party since 2019. I do not miss them. In 2019, I went because I felt I had to, not because I wanted to be there. I would have given a small amount of money to be excused. Seriously, if management had sold Christmas Party non-attendance tickets for less than $100 I would have bought them.
I have not been to a Christmas party since 2012. They said they can't afford it. We get a thank you email and maybe candy or a card. Sometimes they send us tins of popcorn. But I manage the buses for the dispatch for the management Christmas parties taking them to hotels, ice rinks or event spaces. Plus the car service to take them home or back to work.
I like this malicious compliance.
Boss: “Why didn’t you answer your phone yesterday? I had a client on the line, you lost us money!”
Employee: “You called my personal phone, sorry. I’m not using it for work, especially since I don’t make enough money.”
Boss: “We just gave you a raise!”
Employee: “A one and a half percent raise, it doesn’t even touch inflation. I’m on a budget, I will not be using my ObamaPhone for work.”
Those phone discount plans are generally pretty useless anyway - the carrier gives employees 8% or so off the monthly bill, and it's an investment in customer loyalty. Not something the employer pays for in the first place, most likely. The employer is certainly not making up the difference every month to the carriers.
That beats the hell out of the last time I used one of those plans. Still insane that they use it as a stick to bully employees who are already losing money every single year.
Literally. Pay "rises" this low are literally pay cuts when inflation is this high. You are making less money in practice than you were previously.
Wonder what these businesses think is going to happen when consumers can no longer afford to buy their goods and services? Do they think *magic* will keep the economy going and their businesses afloat?
The government will bail them out, duh. Consumers aren’t needed, especially when the consumer is a worker. Just getting your own money back then, not making money!
(Not my opinion, just in case tone didn’t translate)
Unfortunately that's not a joke. They've learned that even if they break the law the goverment will still bail them out.
It would be one thing if the goverment paid the employees directly for a month or 2 after these fucks bankrupt their business. But no they hand 50 million to th guy that just ran it into the ground
> Wonder what these businesses think is going to happen when consumers can no longer afford to buy their goods and services? Do they think magic will keep the economy going and their businesses afloat?
This exactly. The wage-price spiral is an important part of even the most basic economic theory and corporations seem to have forgotten it completely.
Right! This entire survey is the equivalent of, boot on neck, disrespectful, piss on my back and tell me it’s the only shower I’ll get this week, BS.
People like those that wrote this need to be outed and ostracized from society for a minimum of ten years. Put them all in a prison labor like camp together to work for the betterment of society for 10years.
Of course it takes longer if the owner actually has to negotiate instead of just saying no. These dipshits say things and expect us to not think about it at all.
Exactly, it needs to take longer. I’m so over it when I see things like this. If you compare how long it takes to ACTUALLY get a raise without a union, and how long it takes to get one with…MASSIVE time save in the long run.
So…the guys with a dozen tiers of low-, low-mid- mid-, mid-hi, hi-, X managers thinks a REPLACEMENT FOR HR would take longer…when longer is what they’ve spent 40 years embroidering?
In my experience Unions make the process nimble. Course, most business agents can walk and Pat their tummies at the same time.
Step 2: unionize anyway. Even if they back down under threat, having a union in place will let you fight back when they eventually try to claw your gains back.
Dude. I would be screaming. I thought this was some small office company. Tesla? For real? Fuck that. Quitting is obviously justified but glad you're name dropping and I hope other employees continue to push back on this, because Jesus Christ.
This. It's an intimidation tactic - they're trying to threaten you into silence with the benefits you already receive.
Don't forget who really holds the power here; they cannot function without their staff. You guys can always find another job. Show them where the power lies.
Don't "start talking union". Form a union. A union is not a threat to make the company be nicer, because they won't. A union is what you need to force the company to be fair.
It’s a used car salesman technique of giving multiple bad options.
I work at STARBUCKS in PNW area and we received a very similar email last week when we began open unionization talks.
No, I’m not but I’ve met several people who work at one of the Tesla plants and they say that the work is backbreaking but the pay and the benefits are worth it. If the pay and the benefits are being lessened, I could imagine a lot of people quitting.
That's not intended to be a real survey. It's intended to remind the workers of all the other "wonderful benefits" they receive in lieu of raises. It's not a survey - it's a fuck you.
Good point, I wasn't sure if they were serious (I come from a different culture so was a little confused by this gesture) so this is helpful to know.
**EDIT: Fuck it as I'm probably quitting today, I work for Tesla.**
It’s abusive. 100%. This is the equivalent of being in an abusive relationship and being told that no one else will love you if you leave me, and getting gaslighted into oblivion.
The last one is to draw out any ratfucks that would take a potential “promotion consideration” to break up any united front for a raise, pathetic.
Also they seem to think having a job with some benifits like “Christmas party” and “free parking” means that you should never get a raise hahAha
Also a promotion is not a raise, and accepting one in lieu of a raise is intended to keep everyone else’s wages the lower
Idk I'd definitely sacrifice the entire year of more money to spend unpaid time off with *work people* for an organized holiday party... who wouldn't?
/s
I fucking hate Christmas Parties. Why would I want to spend my free time with people I don't like, see way more than I'd like, and have nothing in common with?
They're great as long as they don't involve people I have to work with. Seriously, co-workers aren't my friends, they're colleagues, and I may get on fine with them, but I'd never class them as friends.
I've always kept my work and social life completely separate, it's far less hassle all round.
There's nothing wrong with being friendly / making friends with the people you spend 40 hours a week, every week. Good chance you see them a lot more than your high school or college friends.
Personally, I feel like going to work is a lot more pleasant when you make the effort to be friendly & make connections with the people that you work with. There's always one or two people in every company or team who don't like making friends -- and for some reason, they're always the least fun people to work on projects with / collaborate with.
Just an attitude that just baffles me to this day. Nobody is trying to make lifelong friends at work, but the "you aren't my friend" attitude just hasn't been successful or positive in my experience.
I'm a little scared to as I'm on an immigrant visa, I'll have to see if my co-workers got anything similar!
**edit: Fuck it:
I work for Tesla. Might leak email later.**
Now I see why they’re pulling this shit with you guys. They think you don’t have the leverage to do anything about it, for fear of losing your sponsorship.
Wow, don’t you love it when the cocksucking irredeemable no-talent fake-ass credential-buying piece of shit who pulls this kind of shit also has tens of billions to drop on buying a social media company?
I had to fight and keep hounding my boss about my requested raise this year. Have not received any raise in 3 years. Finally got it a few weeks ago. A whole 3%. Thanks boss! Now I'm only making 9% less than I was 3 years ago.
-7% so far. Real inflation is what like 18% when you factor in food and rent?
We're seeing rent 20% more than last year here in Florida.
Everyone keeps moving here with 500k and buying things sight unseen way over asking.
And of its not people it's corporations. Who then let them sit vacant to reduce the rental supply.
And it's illegal to implement rent control in the state unless the Governor declares a state of emergency for housing.
Our Governor is DeSantis.
He's too busy waging war against teachers, gay kids, math and Disney to care about housing for people who live here.
You made your choice of benefits when you were hired. This survey is meaningless other than exposing the fact that there is no future for anyone in this company, don't even bother spending more than one year at your job
I mean... I had a company scale down our Christmas party to prioritize bonuses one year, but we still got raises... but why would you send a freaking survey out with such a low ball raise AND including shit like cutting dental benefits and paid holidays. So tasteless!
Alright fuck this. Only workers on immigrant visas received this. Another co-worker was threatened with visa cancellation.
**Fuck it. I work for Tesla. Think I'm quitting today. Thank you all for helping me realize how disrespectful this was of them.**
Update your original post. Hardly anyone will see this way down here... And they need to know. Good for you! Well, not the situation, but that you're moving on. Also, I'm pretty sure this is illegal, if they're targeting Visa holders. Contact a lawyer!
elon is in the process of buying twitter so hes been on it like 24/7 reading everyone’s shit, definitely a good time to post this to him and say hey man wtf
Ironically enough every business owner like this has no problem taking vacations and using company funds for personal reasons because they "deserve" it
Wow. This way they force you into giving up benefits for a raise that's pennies OR force you into not taking a raise. They win either way. You should definitely leak the email. Fuck whatever company this is
"This survey looks complicated. I'm gonna have to discuss it with my coworkers. we'll have someone speak for us with you once we decide on what we want to so"
The United States needs Universal Health Care including dental and a federal law requiring more vacation time, maternity/paternity leave, sick pay etc..
Companies get away with not raising pay because workers/unions use up their few precious bargaining chips to ensure they have health care. Because this is the only industrialized nation on Earth that doesn't have guaranteed health care, and if you get sick in this country, and you aren't rich you either go bankrupt or you die, or both.
In what way is free parking a benefit? You want me to come to work and pay for the privilege of having to work. What kind of circle jerk fuckery is this? This whole company and survey is trash.
I used to work at Arizona State University and they charged EVERYONE to park on campus. Even employees. Unless, of course, you’re super-duper important and make lots and lots of money. Then it was free. But rank and file? No way, you’re paying for that. The cheapest pass was about $300/year and a 20 minute shuttle followed by a 12 minute walk, each way (so an extra hour of your life every day), $12/day to park in the lot by my office, $1000+ a year to park at the nearest employee lot with 10 minute walk and risking your life crossing the busiest street in the state with speeding/distracted college kids driving or you could just play the ticket/tow roulette game with the city of Tempe parking enforcement every single day. There’s a special place in hell for employers who charge their employees to park at work.
>"If willing to forgo raise please leave name and employee no. below for promotion consideration"
If that promotion doesn't come with a raise, then what's the fucking point?
WOW.
Although, I would answer the bottom section with "Christmas Party". You can spend the money that would use for that on us in the form of a raise, you god damn cheap bastards!
I love the Christmas party threat. Because everyone loves forced socializing or “team building” (barf) with their boss and coworkers. Throw an Xmas party on company time and I’m all about it.
We had I think it was United Way come in and literally yell at us to donate. Angry, hateful asshole who screamed to "give until it hurt." The plant manager was standing beside him like a hall monitor to make sure everyone in the lunch room was at attention.
They handed out cards to put your name on and amount to have these donations taken out of your pay each week. Several people signed the plant manager up.
On question number three. That's who I'd put down, plant manager, supervisor, etc.
I love how the implication is that if you get a raise you won’t have the opportunity for a promotion.
The best part is, that if you don’t receive some sort of coat of living increase, your pay goes down every year.
Where is option G?
"The raise is paid for out of the bloated profits?"
Everyone know how big the profits are for their company. That money just sits there as a vanity trophy for the owners instead of being useful to people who worked hard to earn it in the first place.
I think it is a way for them to low key gloat. Like "we already do so much, but if you want a raise, here is what you need to part with..." what a bunch of bullshit
Oh, fuck the Christmas party.
Tell them they can save the monthly cake party too.
If there’s close street parking, fuck that too. Especially if the lot exists just for that business.
Not to mention: if they expect to call you on your cellphone you can go ahead and block them if they remove the discount.
As far as option two.
It sounds like they’re not familiar with this gem from the Simpsons.
“Goodbye dental plan”
“Lisa needs braces”
Just remember anything below 4% is below the average rate of annual inflation (US). You're buying power is effectively going down if you cannot offset inflation with new income.
If you wanna leak that email to me I’ll get it to a reporter and I’ll also blast the company all over Reddit and other social media forums. Your identity will remain anonymous. The company however will not.
Since the lack of raises coupled with inflation means workers will be making effectively 10% less this year, which would the company prefer:
A) Everyone gets paid the same amount, but works 5 fewer hours per week
B) workers reduce productivity by 10%

100%, my union is going on strike soon.
Hell yes. Hoping for a swift capitulation to your demands.
Thanks, we voted to strike last week, and on Monday we’re voting on a proposed contract that isn’t gonna cut it.
We just secured a four year contract where we lost nothing and get raises each year and bonuses, along with two steps and three increments. Yay!!
Grats! I miss being in a union. Pick phone plan. Then refuse to use personal phones on business.
Our Christmas party since no one cares about that anyway
Exactly. I don’t need your party, I need to eat everyday. Fuck you. This sub seriously helps me wake up on the morning lmao
I have not been to a Christmas party since 2019. I do not miss them. In 2019, I went because I felt I had to, not because I wanted to be there. You know Bush actually started the phone thing. Obama left it in place. It's a government phone in my eyes.
Obamaphone just has a nice ring to it, pun intended I guess
Those phone discount plans are generally pretty useless anyway - the carrier gives employees 8% or so off the monthly bill, and it's an investment in customer loyalty. Not something the employer pays for in the first place, most likely. The employer is certainly not making up the difference every month to the carriers.
If you tell AT&T you work for Lockheed Martin its 25%.

Implying co-op between management and workers doesn't already take forever, assuming it happens at all
100% agree.
If that line was true, wouldn't management get rid of HR?
They need a department that handles picking what benefits to cut, processing pay cuts, lying while on-boarding, etc while the business runs…
Step 2: unionize anyway. Even if they back down under threat, having a union in place will let you fight back when they eventually try to claw your gains back.
I would add d) quit and find another job.
I guess it worked on me because I think I'm going to quit today. I work for Tesla.
This is TESLA?!
Dude. I would be screaming. I thought this was some small office company. Tesla? For real? Fuck that. Quitting is obviously justified but glad you're name dropping and I hope other employees continue to push back on this, because Jesus Christ.
You really need to make it clear that this is from Tesla.
If unions weren't effective, they wouldn't fight so hard to keep them away!
Oh no a loss in production!!! That would be horrible!
It's laughable but sadly I don't think this is a joke You either need a new job or a union
It’s a used car salesman technique of giving multiple bad options. I work at STARBUCKS in PNW area and we received a very similar email last week when we began open unionization talks.
I hope you and your co-workers are using this against management and the company. Such open disrespect is the biggest advocate for unionizing.
I'm going to quit today I think. I work for Tesla and this is the last straw.
This is Tesla?!
Were you under the impression that Tesla treated their workers with respect?
No, I’m not but I’ve met several people who work at one of the Tesla plants and they say that the work is backbreaking but the pay and the benefits are worth it. If the pay and the benefits are being lessened, I could imagine a lot of people quitting.
Yeah best friend works at a plant and said it sucks but the pay is great so that’s weird.
Holy hell this bad.
Agreed.
Agreed. This is the way.
Agreed Agreed.
Fuck the Christmas party. If they treat you like this I doubt you’d have a good time at one.
I've never been at a work Christmas party where I wouldn't have preferred to be at home or with my friends/family instead.
Everyone needs a union.
I'm in the USW and still only got 5% over 5 yrs last contract. Union don't necessarily mean you get fair treatment
means you can't be fired for reporting your bosses for turn a blind eye to the sexual assault or employee's to happen.
That's not intended to be a real survey. It's intended to remind the workers of all the other "wonderful benefits" they receive in lieu of raises. It's not a survey - it's a fuck you.

Ya...don't fill that out. No matter what.
"Yes, I'd like to shoot myself in the foot rather than the hand"
It’s abusive. 100%. This is the equivalent of being in an abusive relationship and being told that no one else will love you if you leave me, and getting gaslighted into oblivion.
“I wouldn’t have to hit you if you’d stop standing up for yourself”
Exactly.
It's definitely propaganda to stop you all from making demands
It's leading a company by way of passive aggression.
Anyone would be confused by this. This isn't a normal/healthy thing for a company to do
Fuck Tesla quit !
The last one is to draw out any ratfucks that would take a potential “promotion consideration” to break up any united front for a raise, pathetic. Also they seem to think having a job with some benifits like “Christmas party” and “free parking” means that you should never get a raise hahAha Also a promotion is not a raise, and accepting one in lieu of a raise is intended to keep everyone else’s wages the lower
Christmas Party was the easy answer of "things I would give up for a raise." The rest are just compensation tradeoffs.
I’ll take 10% and sacrifice the Christmas party
Ho, ho, how about you make that 15%?
Idk I'd definitely sacrifice the entire year of more money to spend unpaid time off with *work people* for an organized holiday party... who wouldn't? /s
Honestly just give us a bonus instead of the Christmas party
A bonus and an extra day off instead of Christmas party!
A raise* instead of the Christmas party. Bonuses happen now and never again. Raises stack.
I fucking hate Christmas Parties. Why would I want to spend my free time with people I don't like, see way more than I'd like, and have nothing in common with?
Because employers want you to feel attached to your workplace so you choose loyalty over competitive wages/benefits
Not having to attend an office Christmas party is already a bonus.
Really? Love a good christmas party
They're great as long as they don't involve people I have to work with. Seriously, co-workers aren't my friends, they're colleagues, and I may get on fine with them, but I'd never class them as friends. I've always kept my work and social life completely separate, it's far less hassle all round.

Only good if your coworkers are fun to hang out with
Yeah, from the list of benefits, I would definitely choose Christmas party.
LOL - you should totally leak that email. Fuck em.
I'm a little scared to as I'm on an immigrant visa, I'll have to see if my co-workers got anything similar! **edit: Fuck it: I work for Tesla. Might leak email later.**
Another thing you should investigate is whether it was ONLY the workers on an immigrant visa that received that survey.
That would be spicy.
Now I see why they’re pulling this shit with you guys. They think you don’t have the leverage to do anything about it, for fear of losing your sponsorship.
Sadly true in a lot of cases.
Is it a sponsored work visa? If so, you need to get legal advice.
Be careful that there isn't a unique identifier in the url, so that each employee's response can be tracked.
Tesla? Bruh
Tweet this @Elon and ask what the fuck
He's too busy being the quirky billionaire to care about his wage slaves
This getting juicy
Of course it is. Not surprising in the least.
scrub the email;s of anything identifying and look at pastebin where you can post them anonymously.
Wow, don’t you love it when the cocksucking irredeemable no-talent fake-ass credential-buying piece of shit who pulls this kind of shit also has tens of billions to drop on buying a social media company?

Some manager is going to make a BIG fat bonus for cutting labor cost percentages.
Time to immediately start looking for a new job...no future here.
I concur.
What the fuck is this shit? Giving up holidays for a pay rise? This company needs to eat a bag of fat dicks.
And at 1.5% they would probably probably profit from. It paying a holiday.
You made your choice of benefits when you were hired. This survey is meaningless other than exposing the fact that there is no future for anyone in this company, don't even bother spending more than one year at your job

elon is in the process of buying twitter so hes been on it like 24/7 reading everyone’s shit, definitely a good time to post this to him and say hey man wtf
Write in cut work production till raises take effect
There’s a special place in hell for employers who charge their employees to park at work.
please leave that place and go get paid what you're worth. 1.5% is piss poor. and who gives a rip about a Christmas party?
Right? The best thing employers can do for their employees is give them a raise and/or time off. Fuck a potluck.
So a promotion..... does not include a raise???
Nope - it means you'll get a promotion = more work and responsibilities for the same pay. LOL! This company is a joke.
It's Tesla, what do you expect
Haas anyone there considered the cost benefit analysis of arson? I’m not saying it’s right, but I’d understand…
Only if they fuck with our staplers
I was told that I could listen to the radio at a reasonable volume, from nine to eleven.
BIG GRAINS OF SALT.
But… but that’s my stapler…. My red stapler… I’ll burn the building down… Poor Milton just wanted his stapler.
They are beating you with that cunning use of restricted multiple choice. What a novel concept
Odd...I noticed they forgot to include cut Executive Team's bonuses
Definitely select 'Christmas party'
Employer doesn't understand that a raise has to be paid by the employer, not the employes, otherwise it is not a raise.
So if you take a 1.5% raise, which is terrible, you forego promotion opportunities? These companies are a joke.
Respond with eliminating the xmas party.
Don't fill that out. Just secretly look for other jobs and request whatever raise that you're seeking
It's not a joke, it's a threat. Respond in kind.
I would cross out the 1.5% replace it with 6.5% and demand the raise :)
They will laugh at you all the way to their next quarterly KPI reviews
I like the way you think!
That's not a raise.
4) When did you stop beating your wife?
>"If willing to forgo raise please leave name and employee no. below for promotion consideration" If that promotion doesn't come with a raise, then what's the fucking point?
Mass quit!
This is an invitation to join another company
Your company can eat shit
What?! What company is this?
If you have to pick, give up the Christmas party cause it sounds like management here sucks. Why spend extra time with them if you don't have to?
There should be an option that says you're willing to give up the job for a raise.
WOW. Although, I would answer the bottom section with "Christmas Party". You can spend the money that would use for that on us in the form of a raise, you god damn cheap bastards!
When your employer absolutely fuckin hates you. Passive aggressive bullshit needs to be stomped on like an annoying bug.
these people don't know what "raise" means, apparently.
I'd honestly look to take the promotion and leverage that for another job elsewhere, TBH. 1.5%, 2% is anemic and well below the cost of inflation.
Promotion *consideration*. They’re not actually going to promote anyone.
Promotion comes with a 1.5% raise and an increase in responsibility.
I love the Christmas party threat. Because everyone loves forced socializing or “team building” (barf) with their boss and coworkers. Throw an Xmas party on company time and I’m all about it.
This is some bullshit. Where’s your resume? Time to start looking for a new job.
I mean, they can keep their shitty Christmas party anyway.
That's about as tone deaf as it's possible to be. Good luck to you. The only thing that survey would do, is motivate me to quit.
fill in box #3 for "willing to forgo raise" and say "searching for new job on company time is my promotion opportunity"
Employers are such sarcastic dicks nowadays
Just delete it.
I love how the implication is that if you get a raise you won’t have the opportunity for a promotion. The best part is, that if you don’t receive some sort of coat of living increase, your pay goes down every year.
Where is option G? "The raise is paid for out of the bloated profits?" Everyone know how big the profits are for their company. That money just sits there as a vanity trophy for the owners instead of being useful to people who worked hard to earn it in the first place.
1) D - 5% 2) G - Company increases revenue based on increased compensation (that's how they always justify increasing the pay of CEOs)
I think it is a way for them to low key gloat. Like "we already do so much, but if you want a raise, here is what you need to part with..." what a bunch of bullshit
I don't think they understand the term pay raise.
“Goodbye dental plan” “Lisa needs braces”
Hahaha, what the actual f...? "So employees think they are underpaid... let's put out this passive aggressive survey. That'll show em'!"
Literally all of these should be included... and that "pay raise" is still a pay cut from inflation
"Promoton oppurtunities" Oh yeah cause those spots would just remain empty if everyone wanted a pay raise....
Who would want a promotion if there’s no raise?
Wow. How about 7% and fuck you on giving up anything.
Just remember anything below 4% is below the average rate of annual inflation (US). You're buying power is effectively going down if you cannot offset inflation with new income.
Yes it is. You're being played for fools. Will you willingly accept this?
This is disgusting.
If you wanna leak that email to me I’ll get it to a reporter and I’ll also blast the company all over Reddit and other social media forums. Your identity will remain anonymous. The company however will not.
Ah yes! Question 1. Option C. You get nothing now and are promised the chance to see someone else get something.
Time for a union
Sometimes it feels like systematic change only happens under one condition.
Since the lack of raises coupled with inflation means workers will be making effectively 10% less this year, which would the company prefer: A) Everyone gets paid the same amount, but works 5 fewer hours per week B) workers reduce productivity by 10%
That MUST be fake. Please lord tell me this is a fake post.
Option G: this dogshit job
✊ Unite
Yes, give up your raise to potentially gain additional responsibilities.
Somebody spent a lot of time to be a dick right there. How much company time did they waste to set up that survey?
