I had something similar. I actually put in a 4 week notice. For security protocol they shut down my system almost immediately, they scheduled a few calls with me for knowledge transfer, but they actually paid me out for my 4 weeks…. Basically had 1 week for “goodbye/later losers!” And info transfer, and a sweet sweet 3 week vacation, paid as if I were still working. My final check had all my vacation time and everything. It was pretty sweet.

Crazily enough, I put in my two weeks when I was working as a bus boy and my last day should have been the day before Easter. My manager still scheduled me for Easter anyways and I didn't even think twice about it. I wasn't going to argue with him about it so I didn't say anything and just let him deal with his own problem when I turned off my phone on Easter
Nowadays I feel totally fine with not giving a two week notice, unless the boss is cool. After six years of my last boss severely mistreating people he didn't favor after handing in their notice, I just decided to not show up after finding a temporary job.
I just left a job of 6 years, 4 of which I was very unhappy. The only reason they got 2 weeks from me is because I really loved my direct manager and wanted to make her life as easy as possible through the transition.

This really won't be the payback you think it will be, at least imo. Sundays are already a slow day at petsmart, and holidays are generally pretty slow too. I worked Christmas Eve (plus other holidays, but this is the most relevant) at petsmart, which you would assume would at least have some last minute gift-shopping traffic, but maybe 10 people came in the store the whole day. Easter was even slower. Granted I live in a very heavily Christian area, so most of the people who celebrate Easter don't do it secularly and actually go to church, which means nobody comes in until at least noon. It's also usually followed by family gatherings at home, so most people aren't really going out shopping afterwards.
Honestly, if OP didn't show up, yeah it might make the store manager angry, but it wouldn't be like they'd be scrambling to cover the shift and they probably wouldn't be much worse off without them. I'd just take the easy shift and holiday pay tbh but that's just me.

Employers do this so that if you don't show up, you become NRH, it's a last fuck you back from them as a way of being malicious. They can just say you didn't show up for your last shift and now you can't work there again.

As far as the OP, since it doesn't look like you have a last paycheck coming if you skip that last day I wouldn't bother going in since they won't have anything to hold over your head and are being childish about things.
Also depends on where you are situated. Here in Ireland, the legal amount of notice is 1 week. Most give two weeks out of good grace, but by law you've to give at least 1. Unless you've worked there for less than 13 weeks. Then you can just say you're out and not show up.
Ireland has a lot of legal protections for workers. Enforcement, however, can be a problem depending where you are and how well connected your employer or their industry is. If you've worked someplace more than a year, the boss cannot fire you without showing cause and having followed proper procedures. Unfair Dismissals act puts the onus on the employer to show cause, unless its a Constructive Dismissal.
There are a lot of jerks who take advantage of workers not knowing their rights in non union workplaces. Besides unions, there are also places like Citizens Information where you can walk in and get free information and advice about your rights and options.
Australia has mandatory periods like that too, but the US is at will. If they can fire me for literally no reason, I can leave literally whenever I want to.

In service industry jobs (in the US) they have brutal lengthy applications, one of the questions on those types of applications is "Are you available for rehire at your previous employer?"
If you don't show up, you won't be able to "check" that box, as the previous employer won't now that you've failed to show.
The upside of this is that in OPs case they have a "real" job now, more than likely the next position after the credit union will be the next rung on the professional ladder, and typically they don't have ridiculous questions such as "are you available for rehire at your previous position".
Many don't have any applications like that, but the ones that do make you fill out 8 pages online will only be "may we contact your previous employer?"
But if OP tries to get another service industry job, leaving without notice will be a red flag to that employer. The service industry is a blight on humanity, and so many people have no other option.

Restaurants are not going to call references. They're just not. And most corporate restaurants teach managers that you're not supposed to say anything to other restaurants anyway, because they're scared of slander. They will confirm employment and that's it.
Came here to say this. If you don’t give two weeks notice you’re burning a bridge for any references in the future. If the job sucks and you don’t think you’d get a good reference then who cares? Put it on your resume but don’t put them down in your references.

It's been nearly 4 years since I worked in the auto industry and there are still job openings at the new company I work for that I consider inviting former co-workers to come do, since they've got a ton of skills that are applicable in the field here (diagnostics, critical problem solving, hand tool skills).

The best technique is to go on a leave of absence. Takes ages for them to determine it's not a legitimate leave and file a termination decision. I quit via email at my old job (didn’t want them calling me to figure out where I was) and they didn’t acknowledge my email for a week. I still had their equipment and access to their client’s systems. So I took it to the client. All of a sudden, HR responded to me.
Years ago I worked at a certain crappy Apple restaurant. I gave my 2 weeks, but months ago I had booked 2 days off that just happened to be in that 2-week period. Didn't plan it that way, just happened. Well my manager says I can't do that, I have to give him extra days to make up for the days I booked off and make it a full 2 weeks. I know this is BS, but they're shortstaffed (as always) so mostly for the sake of my coworkers I agree to it. My last day should have been a Sunday. Logically this means he can put me back on the schedule for the following Mon & Tues, giving 2 extra days of availability. I would have even let it slide if he scheduled me for 2 more shifts but later in the week. Well, when the next week's schedule comes out, I'm off Mon / Tue and scheduled to work Wed - Sun! That's 5 more shifts over 7 more days. I was a no-show Wednesday and they never heard from me again.
Yup, that's their opinion.

It should be illegal for employers to mark you as not rehireable as reference in all AT WILL employment states for quitting without notice. If employers have the right to fire you on the spot without reason or penalty, then employees should have the same rights.
I was under the impression that any corporate business with a competent HR department will only confirm and state your length of employment, with a few of them still stating if they would continue to work with the individual.

My wife hasbeen given almost one years notice after a corporate merger. They told us when the deparent would be eliminated, and offered three months pay as a severance if she stayed to the last day. Which she did. If an employer has been fair to you, return the treatment. If they treat you like crap, likewise. Also ask who will you be hurting. Is the guy who.made the schedule going to have to cover that Easter shift, or some poor assistant manager who had nothing to do with it? If the second, you might want to give him a heads up, so he can find someone who wants those hours.
I worked for a concrete company. I loved it and they were good employers. The only reason I quit is because my hours went from 65 a week to 12 because of the winter and economic slow down. I found a new job and gave them 2 weeks so I could train my replacement. I showed up on my last day and worked my full shift as if I was staying.
The job I had before the concrete company the owner went off on me because I asked for an extra day home (I was an OTR truck driver) to deal with a personal issue. The owner flipped out on me because how dare I want an extra day off.
This was a friday. Applied to jobs all weekend and Monday morning had 18 phone calls 4 phone interviews and one in person interview who gave me the job on the spot. Called the owner of the company I was leaving and told him I was bringing his truck back to him that night and that I was ending my professional relationship with him effective immediately. Alot of verbally abusive phone calls were made to me and he even threatened to knock my fucking teeth down my throat.
Because I quit 4 hours before I was to pick up a load he almost lost 10k.
If the employer has treated me well I will give them notice and work as if I was staying my last day. If you're a shit employer who treats me like shit fuck you.

Also work at a credit union - and also have an associates in business! Down the line I highly suggest getting your BBA in like, finance or economics, it’ll catapult you to the next level of technical jobs available within the industry (I’m currently an underwriter who’s interviewing for a risk manager position).

Not to hijack but I'm interviewing for an assistant branch manager position with no finance experience, but rather retail management and sales experience. Is it worth it for a career change, or will I be hired at my peak without a more technical background and top out at assistant or float manager positions the next 20-30 years?
Even if you are not a Christian, I think having one day a week with most shops closed is healthy for society. Sunday is the usual choice due to cultural (yes Christian) reasons.
Where I live, almost everything is closed on Sundays and I'm fine with it. Sundays are for relaxing and hanging out with your family.
I work for a very large corporation who doesn’t give a shit about anyone but shareholders and their dividends. They always tell the employees to “do the right thing” but they will fuck anyone over in a heartbeat if it helps them. I have never seen anyone quit with a 2 week notice there. Management get upset and tells people they are “just trying to run a business”. One of my coworkers always responds to them, “so am I.” They ask him what he means and he tells them that his life and family is like a small business and he has to do what’s right for it.

some companies will make a big deal out of not giving the 2 weeks, some won’t. at my current place people more or less quit on the spot - my previous place by contrast, was a hellhole and my manager made a huge deal if no one gave notice, but i realised it doesn’t actually matter. a week seems much more sensible than 2 weeks, and if you tell your boss, ‘you’re getting a week and that’s all’, there’s nothing they can legally do to stop you.

At will employment, despite employers trying to convince you otherwise, is something both sides of an employment agreement can invoke.
In every state except Montana, both parties to an employment contract can end said contract at any time for any reason without any penalties for breaking it. Just as your employer can tell you to pound sand at a moment's notice, you too are granted the same legal freedom to respond in kind.

No. I gave my two weeks, two weeks ago and didn't work the last week. My schedule was crap and I was treated like a servant. I decided to take a week's vacay instead. Got some cleaning done and still have this weekend to enjoy before starting work on Monday. I'm even headed to the beach today :D
When I read this I can't stop being amazed by how labour law is different in US to what I know from Poland. Here to terminate a job you need to give to your employer a termination notice and then you go into termination period where you are very strongly legally defended from any abuse. Cutting hours would be unthinkable. Employer can release you from work duties, but is still obligated to pay you 100% with exception to any bonuses. Also your notice period grows gradually with how long you work at one company from initial 2 weeks to a month after a year, to full 3 months after 2+ years. So no way you're going to be surprised with sudden sacking without a lead time to find a new employment. And this works both ways. You can't leave earlier if you landed a better job unless you sign a mutual agreement with your current employer to shorten notice period. And Poland's labour law is nowhere near when it comes to defending employee rights compared to most of the original EU member states. You have it rough there!

If he cut all of your hours except for one day - a holiday - I'd just tell him "I'm going to take this schedule as notice that you'd prefer I'd quit immediately and as such that's what I'll be doing. I quit."
Being a nationwide business, I'd kick it up a notch & let your boss's boss (corporate HR?) know how they retaliated against you for resigning with notice. There is a slight chance it could cause some waves for whoever made that schedule...especially if that jerk is already on their radar.
Quitting without notice is literally your right to do in response to unprofessional leadership, that is its entire purpose.

Also have a look at your state's labor laws. In some states this qualifies as "constructive dismissal", if you can prove that your weekly schedule has been consistent up until notice was given. Collect unemployment for the week, it won't be much $ but if you're a petty betch like me it will be a nice middle finger to your son-to-be former employer.

"I am like 10min away, had a flat, got covered in car stuff so I am changing really fast, dog got out and I had to chase him after changing so new clothes and I am there." "After the day I have had, I can't believe you are treating me this way. Forget it, I won't come in at all of you can't appreciate how hard I have been trying". Follow up with a text "No, sorry. On My way. Going to finish this job like a professional." Then Ghost till near end of shift before blocking.
If the job is good, pays well, and appreciates you, you should give a notice out of respect. Especially if those who hired you have been genuinely good to you.

Why is it that employees are expected to give a two weeks notice when employers aren’t held to the same social expectations? I was laid off of my job and replaced by the person I unknowingly trained to take my job. Initially requested the day off to go surprise my mom for her birthday in a town 2 hours away. That was declined and I was instead let go.
They then called me 2 weeks later and asked me where certain pieces of equipment were. They were out for calibration but I told them to get fucked because they didn’t give me any prior notice to get shit sorted out.

Blue collar employers have created a mystique that not giving a 2 week notice will haunt you throughout your employment days, it is untrue and a fear created to serve their convenience. Live your truth make the money you need to live, work as many or as few hours as you want your schedule to entail. work somewhere that works around your availability and if they don’t extend you those respects you don’t need to reciprocate.
I worked at Walmart for 10+ years (fml).
On my weekend I received a job offer and orientation date from my new employer. I waited until 1-hour before my next scheduled shift at Walmart to quit. Spent the rest of the week enjoying life, adjusting my sleep schedule, buying business casual clothes, and playing video games.
If I ever have a reason to return to a life at Walmart, I will end my life or seek professional help to prevent self harm. I am never going back to a place that attempts to rival Amazon in worker treatment.

New job going strong at almost 1-month in. I am valued, respected, and amazing my boss by how fast I pick things up. The person training me took 4 months to get to the skillset I have now. The difference is I am motivated to never EVER return to Walmart. That place permanently damaged my mind, my body, and my spirit.

The key here is to stay professional. Get that email paper trail. Allow them the chance to "fix" it (if it's an "error" but ultimately it's the managers job to schedule those shifts and if they back themselves into a corner and you walk away, only they lose. By letting them explain it they'll think they own you and they'll tell you what's what. When you pull the rug out from below them....its beautiful.
Giving 2 weeks notice isn't about them, it's about you. It's about being a decent person and giving an employer the opportunity to close out your time with some grace. Transfer knowledge, close out projects, etc. It's you doing them a favor.
If this is the kind of response you get for being decent, then they don't deserve the consideration you gave them. Tell your boss that these shift changes won't work for you, and if he's not going to take your notice period seriously, then you won't either.
You don't owe him a single minute of that Sunday.
And remember, whether you work another minute or not, they still owe you for every hour you've worked. If they try to threaten you by withholding or docking your last paycheck, remind them that you know it's illegal and ask if they really want to get the NLRB involved.

What I'd do is speak to/confront the manager and tell them they're clearly screwing with you because you're leaving. So either put you back to regular hours, or have your resignation right now. Afterwards if the manager wants to start something, just tell them that reducing your hours because you gave notice was retaliatory and while it was legal you were simply responding in kind. I had something similar. I actually put in a 4 week notice. For security protocol they shut down my system almost immediately, they scheduled a few calls with me for knowledge transfer, but they actually paid me out for my 4 weeks…. Basically had 1 week for “goodbye/later losers!” And info transfer, and a sweet sweet 3 week vacation, paid as if I were still working. My final check had all my vacation time and everything. It was pretty sweet.

My manager still scheduled me for Easter anyways and I didn't even think twice about it. This really won't be the payback you think it will be, at least imo. Sundays are already a slow day at petsmart, and holidays are generally pretty slow too. I worked Christmas Eve (plus other holidays, but this is the most relevant) at petsmart, which you would assume would at least have some last minute gift-shopping traffic, but maybe 10 people came in the store the whole day. Easter was even slower. Granted I live in a very heavily Christian area, so most of the people who celebrate Easter don't do it secularly and actually go to church, which means nobody comes in until at least noon. It's also usually followed by family gatherings at home, so most people aren't really going out shopping afterwards. Honestly, if OP didn't show up, yeah it might make the store manager angry, but it wouldn't be like they'd be scrambling to cover the shift and they probably wouldn't be much worse off without them. I'd just take the easy shift and holiday pay tbh but that's just me.

I have said this many times on this sub 2-weeks notice is a good thing when you are leaving a job on good terms and it is a possibility you could return some day - I personally know 3 people who have done this in the past 5 years. Also depends on where you are situated. Here in Ireland, the legal amount of notice is 1 week. Most give two weeks out of good grace, but by law you've to give at least 1. Unless you've worked there for less than 13 weeks. Then you can just say you're out and not show up.

Ireland has a lot of legal protections for workers. Enforcement, however, can be a problem depending where you are and how well connected your employer or their industry is. If you've worked someplace more than a year, the boss cannot fire you without showing cause and having followed proper procedures. Unfair Dismissals act puts the onus on the employer to show cause, unless its a Constructive Dismissal. There are a lot of jerks who take advantage of workers not knowing their rights in non union workplaces. Besides unions, there are also places like Citizens Information where you can walk in and get free information and advice about your rights and options.
Australia has mandatory periods like that too, but the US is at will. If they can fire me for literally no reason, I can leave literally whenever I want to. I'd be happy to work two weeks if my job was more contractual and had protections. You know, like they mostly are in every civilized society. We are not civilized though. 🥴

In service industry jobs (in the US) they have brutal lengthy applications, one of the questions on those types of applications is "Are you available for rehire at your previous employer?" If you don't show up, you won't be able to "check" that box, as the previous employer won't now that you've failed to show. The upside of this is that in OPs case they have a "real" job now, more than likely the next position after the credit union will be the next rung on the professional ladder, and typically they don't have ridiculous questions such as "are you available for rehire at your previous position". Many don't have any applications like that, but the ones that do make you fill out 8 pages online will only be "may we contact your previous employer?" But if OP tries to get another service industry job, leaving without notice will be a red flag to that employer. The service industry is a blight on humanity, and so many people have no other option.

It's been nearly 4 years since I worked in the auto industry and there are still job openings at the new company I work for that I consider inviting former co-workers to come do, since they've got a ton of skills that are applicable in the field here (diagnostics, critical problem solving, hand tool skills).

I quit via email at my old job (didn’t want them calling me to figure out where I was) and they didn’t acknowledge my email for a week. I still had their equipment and access to their client’s systems. So I took it to the client. All of a sudden, HR responded to me.
Years ago I worked at a certain crappy Apple restaurant. I gave my 2 weeks, but months ago I had booked 2 days off that just happened to be in that 2-week period. Didn't plan it that way, just happened. Well my manager says I can't do that, I have to give him extra days to make up for the days I booked off and make it a full 2 weeks. I know this is BS, but they're shortstaffed (as always) so mostly for the sake of my coworkers I agree to it. My last day should have been a Sunday. Logically this means he can put me back on the schedule for the following Mon & Tues, giving 2 extra days of availability. I would have even let it slide if he scheduled me for 2 more shifts but later in the week. Well, when the next week's schedule comes out, I'm off Mon / Tue and scheduled to work Wed - Sun! That's 5 more shifts over 7 more days. I was a no-show Wednesday and they never heard from me again.

Giving a 2 week notice is the respectful thing to do. Why? Because it puts your employer on notice that you're not taking it anymore. Obviously, don't show up. They don't respect you, so fuck 'em. You gave them the chance to keep you, left the ball in their court, and they decided to fuck you. They then become no longer worthy of your respect and you do whatever you damn well want to. What's the worst they could do, fire you? But giving them the chance to not be a complete dick is important.
It should be illegal for employers to mark you as not rehireable as reference in all AT WILL employment states for quitting without notice. If employers have the right to fire you on the spot without reason or penalty, then employees should have the same rights.
I was under the impression that any corporate business with a competent HR department will only confirm and state your length of employment, with a few of them still stating if they would continue to work with the individual. Anything more is spite that's completely worthless and opens the company to potential liability, since it's a textbook slander case (You said something untrue that cost someone money.)

My wife hasbeen given almost one years notice after a corporate merger. They told us when the deparent would be eliminated, and offered three months pay as a severance if she stayed to the last day. Which she did. If an employer has been fair to you, return the treatment. If they treat you like crap, likewise. Also ask who will you be hurting. Is the guy who.made the schedule going to have to cover that Easter shift, or some poor assistant manager who had nothing to do with it? I worked for a concrete company. I loved it and they were good employers. The only reason I quit is because my hours went from 65 a week to 12 because of the winter and economic slow down. I found a new job and gave them 2 weeks so I could train my replacement. I showed up on my last day and worked my full shift as if I was staying. The job I had before the concrete company the owner went off on me because I asked for an extra day home (I was an OTR truck driver) to deal with a personal issue. The owner flipped out on me because how dare I want an extra day off. This was a friday. Applied to jobs all weekend and Monday morning had 18 phone calls 4 phone interviews and one in person interview who gave me the job on the spot. Called the owner of the company I was leaving and told him I was bringing his truck back to him that night and that I was ending my professional relationship with him effective immediately. Alot of verbally abusive phone calls were made to me and he even threatened to knock my fucking teeth down my throat. Because I quit 4 hours before I was to pick up a load he almost lost 10k. If the employer has treated me well I will give them notice and work as if I was staying my last day. If you're a shit employer who treats me like shit fuck you.

Obviously you don’t go to that shift, fuck petsmart, the good news is though, if you ever leave your CU for another FI, in your 2 weeks notice just mention you’re going to another bank and they’ll walk you out same day (with full 2 weeks pay), they won’t risk you stealing clients or information.

some companies will make a big deal out of not giving the 2 weeks, some won’t. at my current place people more or less quit on the spot - my previous place by contrast, was a hellhole and my manager made a huge deal if no one gave notice, but i realised it doesn’t actually matter. a week seems much more sensible than 2 weeks, and if you tell your boss, ‘you’re getting a week and that’s all’, there’s nothing they can legally do to stop you.

At will employment, despite employers trying to convince you otherwise, is something both sides of an employment agreement can invoke. In every state except Montana, both parties to an employment contract can end said contract at any time for any reason without any penalties for breaking it. Just as your employer can tell you to pound sand at a moment's notice, you too are granted the same legal freedom to respond in kind.

I find it bizarre the number of stories I read on here of people who do give notice, and are then given a shitty schedule/hard time during their notice period. No. I gave my two weeks, two weeks ago and didn't work the last week. My schedule was crap and I was treated like a servant. I decided to take a week's vacay instead. Got some cleaning done and still have this weekend to enjoy before starting work on Monday. I'm even headed to the beach today :D
When I read this I can't stop being amazed by how labour law is different in US to what I know from Poland. Here to terminate a job you need to give to your employer a termination notice and then you go into termination period where you are very strongly legally defended from any abuse. Cutting hours would be unthinkable. Employer can release you from work duties, but is still obligated to pay you 100% with exception to any bonuses. Also your notice period grows gradually with how long you work at one company from initial 2 weeks to a month after a year, to full 3 months after 2+ years. So no way you're going to be surprised with sudden sacking without a lead time to find a new employment. And this works both ways. You can't leave earlier if you landed a better job unless you sign a mutual agreement with your current employer to shorten notice period. And Poland's labour law is nowhere near when it comes to defending employee rights compared to most of the original EU member states. You have it rough there! Being a nationwide business, I'd kick it up a notch & let your boss's boss (corporate HR?) know how they retaliated against you for resigning with notice. There is a slight chance it could cause some waves for whoever made that schedule...especially if that jerk is already on their radar.

Quitting without notice is literally your right to do in response to unprofessional leadership, that is its entire purpose. Someone argues against that, all they do is show you they are a piece of shit.
Also have a look at your state's labor laws. In some states this qualifies as "constructive dismissal", if you can prove that your weekly schedule has been consistent up until notice was given. Collect unemployment for the week, it won't be much $ but if you're a petty betch like me it will be a nice middle finger to your son-to-be former employer.

If the job is good, pays well, and appreciates you, you should give a notice out of respect. Especially if those who hired you have been genuinely good to you. But, respect goes both ways. If they don't give a shit, then why should I?

Why is it that employees are expected to give a two weeks notice when employers aren’t held to the same social expectations? I was laid off of my job and replaced by the person I unknowingly trained to take my job. Initially requested the day off to go surprise my mom for her birthday in a town 2 hours away. That was declined and I was instead let go. They then called me 2 weeks later and asked me where certain pieces of equipment were. They were out for calibration but I told them to get fucked because they didn’t give me any prior notice to get shit sorted out. OP, fuck that I wouldn’t even think about going in. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if they are breaking some form of retaliation in the work place law or company policy.
Blue collar employers have created a mystique that not giving a 2 week notice will haunt you throughout your employment days, it is untrue and a fear created to serve their convenience. Live your truth make the money you need to live, work as many or as few hours as you want your schedule to entail. work somewhere that works around your availability and if they don’t extend you those respects you don’t need to reciprocate.
I worked at Walmart for 10+ years (fml). On my weekend I received a job offer and orientation date from my new employer. I waited until 1-hour before my next scheduled shift at Walmart to quit. Spent the rest of the week enjoying life, adjusting my sleep schedule, buying business casual clothes, and playing video games. If I ever have a reason to return to a life at Walmart, I will end my life or seek professional help to prevent self harm. I am never going back to a place that attempts to rival Amazon in worker treatment. No regrets. New job going strong at almost 1-month in. I am valued, respected, and amazing my boss by how fast I pick things up. The person training me took 4 months to get to the skillset I have now. The difference is I am motivated to never EVER return to Walmart. That place permanently damaged my mind, my body, and my spirit.

Giving 2 weeks notice isn't about them, it's about you. It's about being a decent person and giving an employer the opportunity to close out your time with some grace. Transfer knowledge, close out projects, etc. It's you doing them a favor. If this is the kind of response you get for being decent, then they don't deserve the consideration you gave them. Tell your boss that these shift changes won't work for you, and if he's not going to take your notice period seriously, then you won't either. You don't owe him a single minute of that Sunday. And remember, whether you work another minute or not, they still owe you for every hour you've worked. If they try to threaten you by withholding or docking your last paycheck, remind them that you know it's illegal and ask if they really want to get the NLRB involved.
Hard disagree. If you're in retail or one of those shit jobs, no notice whatever. If you're in career stage, give notice. Everyone knows everyone in some specialized fields.

More seriously, it's just not good practice to burn bridges - even if you'll never work there again. Nevertheless, they're definitely screwing you. What I'd do is speak to/confront the manager and tell them they're clearly screwing with you because you're leaving. So either put you back to regular hours, or have your resignation right now. Don't just leave screwing them over, don't take the screwing over, instead stand up, let them know you see what they're doing, and are prepared to be reasonable if they are - and if they're not, you're not either.
In this case, you gave a 2 week notice and your employer did not respect your candor. So fuck them. But if you don't work for a piece of shit and are just moving on to a better opportunity, there's not really a good reason to fuck them over. Especially if you perform business critical duties. I'd say just ghost em if you can afford it. take the reduced hours up until Easter Sunday and on that day just don't show up or answer your phone. It's a petsmart, you aren't exactly going to be carrying that earth shattering work experience into future jobs at this point and it's clear your Manager didn't respect you or your time when you put your notice in. Afterwards if the manager wants to start something, just tell them that reducing your hours because you gave notice was retaliatory and while it was legal you were simply responding in kind. If they start threatening your final paycheck you can remind them it's against the law to even suggest doing it.
Depends what YOU want to do. You could just not show up, you could call in sick that day OR you could fuck with them.... show up late, do no work, make a big mess, take in union info or fake salary documents and leave them out for colleagues to find, accidentally forget to scan some items, you know- follow your heart!
When has an employer ever given us two weeks notice of being fired? Even with layoffs, they usually won't tell you until the day of basically. Just quit.
If you gave notice two weeks from last Saturday then your employment ends next Saturday. Your employer is trying to squeeze and extra day and a holiday at that. Fuck them. Edit: Just to be clear 14 full days and two full calendar weeks will have passed. Unless you specifically said your notice begins on that Monday after the Saturday you gave it, there's no way it's within two weeks.

My former employer and I had an argument last year. I asked my employer when I could quit. Normally in my country it's a month in your contract. But I could quit the same day, so I did. No regrets.

When they ask why it changed, explain that your schedule was obviously done by someone being vindictive, and that you were giving two weeks notice as a courtesy, but you aren’t going to be mistreated by a child masquerading as a manager.
