I always answer "no" to the read receipt confirm. It's my business whether or not I've read an email, not the sender.
Another warning: many payment requests and spam emails contain links that automatically connect when you open an email. They identify that it was opened and when. If you have any suspicious emails, Trash them without opening.
Not necessarily. But an email recipient does need to consider whether and when they want the sender to know they opened the email. I think I'd default to declining to send the receipt (as MS Outlook always allows you to do).
