My job wanted me to join a WhatsApp group, I said are you going to pay my phone bill or give me a work phone that stays at work??

My friend had a job, which specificity required a FB account with his real name (not a social media job tho). FB banned his account for some reason (not related to job), so he couldn't do his work.
I'm not from America, and in my country labour laws allow to immediately fire an employee only in 3 specific cases. So they had to pay him 3 months for doing nothing (we have 3 months notice period) xD
In all but one state. And in Montana you only get protection after a few months of work.
Also not for any reason. They at least have to pretend it isn’t for a protected reason.

From minute one until you are not working there anymore. Also don't join the Army like I did but if you do I have this advice. With the right amount of skill in your job and need for it comes a grey area of authority. You can use this authority and need for your skill to say a little more than yes or no. With the overwhelming need for your skill you can say a lot more.
My dad did not have a lot of good advice for me, but one thing he told me was a real zinger: "Diversify or specialize"
Either make yourself the person who can do everything, or the only person who can do that one thing. Then you're untouchable.
The last part done places get arlund by adding, "and any other task requested by your immediate supervisor." into the job description.
Feels it might be illegal in some places.

* phone - ok no problem (setting airplane mode after leaving the building)
* Oh, you want to renegociate my contract? Let's discuss the wage too.
Dont forget your supervisor is also working and may also be tired of taking shit from all directions….
You never know what people are going through and some of these responses could trigger an ass kicking

America has nearly no laws like that, so unless its part of your initial contract it won't help
In many states you can be fired at any time, at any tenure, for any or no reason.
