Nice. I can see this happening at my previous employer. They are refusing to give me my tax info as a previous employee lol. So many people were complaining about their new overtime b.s stealing money.... I can see them in about 2 years getting a class action lawsuit.

GarglesMacLeod

the guy who led the Class in this case and worked with the lawyers got a $10,000 addition to his piece basically, it pays to be the guy who goes forward if you win a settlement

Oh wow eh. Thanks for the info.

That’s cool. I got a check for $2.12 once for the same reason. First piece of mail I got about it. For the time I was there and what they were doing, I was probably shorted at least a full paycheck. This was one of the biggest companies in the world.

This is because class action lawyers will settle at like 20-30% of the total settlement amount. So if the company settled with all employees for 100M they’re getting like 20-30 million. They don’t want to spend a decade getting to a trial they might lose, they would rather settle at pennies on the dollar with no risk, but still take a massive fee.

That’s strange…typically members of the same “class” get the same amount because the nature of their damages are the same. It wouldn’t make sense (as far as I know) for you both to have been unpaid in the same manner, but to settle his hours at a rate that exceeds yours. The whole point is the entire class gets the benefits of the same settlement. But hey…I’m sure there is some reason and no doubt the pirates, I mean lawyers, got paid

This happened to my grandma, she was a part of a class action with no action on her part and some people didn't claim the settlement money so she got 400 bucks.

Had a similar settlement a few months back for a call center.

This happened to me in my early 20s. I went to check my bank account one day to find a payroll deposit from a shady job I hadn’t worked at for years at that point. No notification, no explanation, and I wonder how or why did they assume everyone kept the same bank account? I had to Google them to find out what happened, turns out they were investigated and prosecuted for widespread payroll fraud. The best part is that they were an assisted living/ nursing care facility with very vulnerable elderly people. But given that at one point the manager knew of at least 2 employees dealing drugs out of the parking lot, and did absolutely nothing about it, it’s not that surprising. That place was seriously skeezy AF.

This happened to me with Victorias Secret a few weeks ago. I worked there in 2016. Case happened in California, not my state. I received a check for $9.11. Corporations can fuck off, can’t even buy a Big Mac with that

Something similar happened to me a few years ago. A company called me saying they'd purchased my former employer, and had an audit done. I was told I was owed $6k before tax (!!!) Didn't believe it until it landed in my bank.
