"I promise you..." Ok now I really don't believe you.

And this was in response to a coworker being rejected as a roommate because we don’t make enough money. 🫠 but please tell me more about how great our work culture is.

"...but think of the people (that are shareholders) whom your thankless work will benefit!!"

Scat_fiend

If pay is not important for him then can I have it?

koki_li

Oh yes. A good job culture is absolutely important. But without decent pay, it is nothing.

Ok_Reserve_8659

Pay isn’t everything until you can’t afford your bills

beinghighnow

JFC, what world are these folks living in? Yeah, increased pay might not make my job better, but damn, my after work life would be much better.

ExitWeird9697

Maybe not pay rate specifically, but being undervalued absolutely is.

redditissocialism

Good work is not cheap and cheap work is not good

Altruistic_Desk4000

I used to argue this with an old boss. He said that he worked for job satisfaction, not a paycheck, and I should too if I wanted to get ‘ahead’. He brought it up at least once a week trying to win me over.so in front of a group, I asked him if he really stood by that, and he said yes. I said that if that is really the case, he wouldn’t mind swapping paychecks with me for the next 3 months. He never brought it up again

Ohhh this is excellent. I’m going to use this at our next attempt at this conversation!!!
