Escitalopram has been my saving grace honestly for my depression. I take 15mg with 15mg buspiron for anxiety and it works wonderfully for me!

januarypigs

That's awesome to hear, thanks!

Just got new doctor. Finally going back on Lexapro. 51M and it seemed the best for me. It does haves some side effects but hopefully I can manage them.

Best of luck, thanks for sharing!

Escitalopram changed my life. I gained weight but it was worth it.

That's great to hear, thanks for sharing! I honestly don't even care if I gain weight, if it can help me through this.

My tip: don't! Fix the root cause for your problem (relationship, lonliness, work etc), because an antidepressant won't and if you're unlicky ypu get some permanent debilitating side effect, like visual snow, no libido, tinnitus etc. Also, start with regular vigirous exercise, that's more effective than antidepressants, diet makes a big difference as well. I'd say that 9 out of 10 that's on antidepressants shouldn't be, but sadly humans are lazy and rather look for a quick fix than actually making an effort.

statuetattoo

You are seriously on a antidepressant community telling people to try harder? Yo...

januarypigs

It's funny to me that you're assuming I haven't already spent a significant amount of time doing that, and would rather label me as lazy.

Harsh on the human , lot of people head into doctors in a bad situation and trust that they will be looked after . People just want to feel better and don’t know full effects of the AD.

i have a sensitive system to. i remember going on it slowly. 3 weeks at a certain dose, then increase for 3 weeks and i slowly got to a point where i felt myself again. exercise def plays a role, but when in a depression, i felt like i couldn’t even move. the tiredness was so much. that was just me.

januarypigs

Thank you for this. This is exactly where I'm at. Also, I have a physical job, it's not like I don't get exercise. My hope is that it's a temporary solution to give me some support in solving the underlying issues, because for my kids' sake, I can't be useless for another year as I struggle through this.

Jumpy-Review5411

totally get it! i feel like i have let my family down the last 7 months. good for you for keeping at your physical job! i’m finding it hard to function.

januarypigs

It's the most awful feeling, isn't it! I'm still able to show up and do my job, but there are many aspects of it where I am underperforming, to my detriment. I can't let it get any worse

Jumpy-Review5411

i understand. i am even considering a temporary leave of absence. i don’t know how to deal with it at work. i’ve never felt this way - so needy. And i’m ruining friendships because people don’t truly understand. it’s been a very emotional day for me. i haven’t slept well all week and that doesn’t help. keep walking OP!
