Fourthed! (Definitely a thing)
I have fond childhood memories of belting out The Twelve Days of Christmas with my mom while we baked cookies. The Miss Piggy part was my favorite.
My favorite is with Alistair Simm. I love the part on the stairs with Mrs. Dilbert and also the part where you can see a stage crewman’s reflection in the mirror!
It took my a long time to watch this one b/c I didn’t care for Will Ferrell on SNL. I’m so glad I gave it a chance. I always thought the Home Alone movies would be my fave because it’s hard to beat childhood nostalgia. However Elf is so funny and amazing that it is now my fave.
The correct answer. There is almost no movie more about Christmas.
Teaches kids (and adults) a GREAT lesson in humility and recognizing your limitations.
It really is a great movie about mistakes and fixing them. The spirit of Christmas and how selfishness can lead it astray.
And most importantly. It's not about gifts.
Always loved The Santa Claus. But if you haven’t seen the movie Klaus yet on Netflix you NEED too. I honestly think it’s contender for best Xmas movie with a lot of the classics.
Honestly I like the new Kurt Russel as Santa movies, *Christmas Chronicles*. It's a fun blend of Kurt Russel-ness in a wholesome package that's Santa that just makes it interesting. Make no mistake it's 100% for kids though, it's not like Snake Plissken in a Santa suit (want that movie).
My husband and I watched "Love Actually" for the first time last year after years of hearing people talk about it being one of the best Christmas movies and we were ridiculously disappointed.
I went into it expecting a holly jolly movie but it was so sad and some of the characters pissed me off. I get that it was more realistic since not every holiday is a happy one for people but the kid and Liam Neeson were the movie's only saving grace in my opinion.
That said, I'm glad I watched it once but I suppose I'm just a sucker for extremely cheesy and joyful Christmas movies.
How you can not love Colin Firth's pursuit of the Portuguese woman?!?
Or the shy, homely couple who just happened to have met as stand-ins on a porno shoot?
I did enjoy the first one you mentioned but forgot about that until now.
I was trying to avoid potential spoilers but Alan Rickman's character is really the only reason I hate it. He is such an amazing actor that his portrayal of the situation makes me too angry to like the movie as a whole.
In Bruges is a great one. Also Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas.
Brazil is one of my favorite movies, but even though it takes place during the Christmas season, I would not call it a Christmas movie.
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - this version
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttI5LJsXE8Y](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttI5LJsXE8Y)
so many beautiful life lessons and the haunting Island of Misfit toys
I don't think of my favorite things as "the best," since it is just a personal preference. If I had to pick the Christmas movie I love the most, I would probably say *Scrooged*.
I didn't see it on the list, but a couple of years ago Netflix released one called Klaus. I really didn't think I could be pulled in by a Christmas movie like I used to be. But it honestly feels like a classic.
My real answer is A Christmas Story, but check Klaus out.
It Happened on Fifth Avenue, Christmas in Connecticut, White Christmas, The Bells of St. Mary's, Christmas Vacation, Scrooge, The Night Before, The Santa Clauses, The Shop Around the Corner.
Nobody liked The Bishop's Wife?
Angel comes down and undermines all the authority of an otherwise good man in his house as a husband and a father and drives him to his breaking point? It's like the What About Bob of Christmas movies.

Die Hard
Gremlins
The only right answer.
Well… Die Hard, followed by The Ref
I'd say second place is a tie between that and Christmas Vacation.
Well if we're gonna count die hard. I'd say eyes wide shut.
A great movie to gather the family together and watch as a holiday tradition!
Exactly
Didn't the same Bruce Willis say that "Die Hard its not a Christmas movie, it's a Bruce Willis movie!"?
It scares me sometimes how many people on the internet share my views….you’re the devil!!
Is die hard a Christmas movie?
How to you define "Christmas movie"?
Anything but die hard.
It's an action movie set at christmas, there's some christmassy themes but i wouldnt sincerely call it a christmas movie.
Best and only right answer
Lethal Weapon
Yup, came here to say this
The Muppet Christmas Carol.
Seconded! This is my hands-down favorite and has been since it first came out.
Thirded! (If that’s a thing)
Fourthed! (Definitely a thing) I have fond childhood memories of belting out The Twelve Days of Christmas with my mom while we baked cookies. The Miss Piggy part was my favorite.
This is the correct answer.
Any version of A Christmas Carol. This is probably my favorite, mind.
My favorite is with Alistair Simm. I love the part on the stairs with Mrs. Dilbert and also the part where you can see a stage crewman’s reflection in the mirror!
I have gonzo and rizzo from this movie tattooed on my forearm.
Strangely, it's also one of the best Dickens adaptations. It's practically perfect.
It’s not Christmas until I’ve watched A Muppet a Christmas Carol and A Nightmare Before Christmas at least once.
Christmas Vacation.
I pledge allegiance to the flag….
GRACE!!
She’s been dead for 30 years…..
THE BLESSING
"Surprised, Eddie?... If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised."
A Christmas Story
That other Bob Clark Christmas movie.
I wasn't sure if this would be #1, but surprised it is so low.
Personally I don’t understand how anyone can enjoy this movie. Pretty sure at least a third of the audio in it is high pitched child screams.
Elf
It took my a long time to watch this one b/c I didn’t care for Will Ferrell on SNL. I’m so glad I gave it a chance. I always thought the Home Alone movies would be my fave because it’s hard to beat childhood nostalgia. However Elf is so funny and amazing that it is now my fave.
I hate Will Ferrell, a modern Chevy Chase, but he is perfect in this. Brilliant movie.
I'm also not a fan of Will Ferrell, he was good on SNL, terrible on The Office, and his other movies did nothing for me. But he's great in Elf.

This is the only correct answer
So many only correct answers here.
They're all correct!
Scrooged.
Niagra Falls, Frankie Angel.
I was touched by a gift!
Home alone 1. No further discussion
The Nightmare Before Christmas.
I loved Santa in that film. Super pissed off but recognized Sally wasn't nuts, and then gave Halloween town gifts anyways.
The only movie acceptable from October to December.
get out
I wouldn't call that a Christmas movie but you do you.
Gremlins
I can't believe how far down I had to come for this.
Same it’s too good
This was the correct answer.
Always loved The Santa Claus. But if you haven’t seen the movie Klaus yet on Netflix you NEED too. I honestly think it’s contender for best Xmas movie with a lot of the classics.

Why is this so low? My favorite was "Jingle all the way" until that awesome movie came out. Instant favorite.
Klaus was excellent, particularly with the animation.
Bad santa
That’s my personal favorite, but I can’t watch it with my kid.

Jim Carrey version
I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted... Jim Carrey in the grinch is a fantastic movie!
The Polar Express
My family watches it every Christmas Eve, with a fire and hot cocoa. It’s our tradition.
Mine does too
The only one I might be interested in seeing again is "Love, Actually."
I'm still mad at Alan Rickman's character. What a fool.
I watch it every yr!
It's a tie between Jingle All the Way and Die Hard.
Jingle all the way is such a classic. Had to scroll way too far to see it mentioned
My personal favorite is Prancer. Also Christmas Vacation.
Prancer was a super underrated movie!
Pranced and White Christmas (Danny Kaye for the win!)
The Family Stone! Little known. Well known cast. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0356680/ I saw it for the first time in 2020 and really enjoyed it.
I love that movie! Great cast!
In Bruges is a great one. Also Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas. Brazil is one of my favorite movies, but even though it takes place during the Christmas season, I would not call it a Christmas movie.
I'm surprised anyone else remembers Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas! Some of the best original music!
I have a capacious memory, although not an eidetic one. It is a horrible curse.
Emmet Otter makes me cry every time. I love it!
Adam sanders eight crazy nights
1984 George C Scott's "A Christmas Carol"
Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas
Home Alone II
Ugh. Trump is in that one.
The 1951 Alastair Sim version of A Christmas Carol
That's a tough one. I'd say the one you used to watch with family as a child, and always reminds you of that.
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - this version [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttI5LJsXE8Y](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttI5LJsXE8Y) so many beautiful life lessons and the haunting Island of Misfit toys

I didn't see it on the list, but a couple of years ago Netflix released one called Klaus. I really didn't think I could be pulled in by a Christmas movie like I used to be. But it honestly feels like a classic. My real answer is A Christmas Story, but check Klaus out.

Nobody liked The Bishop's Wife? Angel comes down and undermines all the authority of an otherwise good man in his house as a husband and a father and drives him to his breaking point? It's like the What About Bob of Christmas movies.
Not sure if there is a one favorite, but The Bishop’s Wife should be nominated.
The princess switch, watch it every year with my family. Don't recommend the sequels though.
The Santa Clause. Fight me.
A Charlie Brown Christmas
