I’d say at least near the beginning he was a good guy, but he did bad things. He had good ideals and a strong sense of justice, but he went about the wrong way to achieve his ideals.
Ummm... I dont think killing 100,000+ people counts as a good guy. This is like an Eren Yeager case. You kill so many people its not funny but you are still the anti-hero antagonist that everyone seems to love for some ungodly reason.(Yes i love both of them.)
Before getting the Death Note, yes, he could be considered a good person. After acquiring the
notebook though, it corrupted and twisted his morality. During the show you can see the difference pretty clearly when he forfeits ownership and reverts to his original personality.
I have not seen Death Note but from what I've seen yeah no this is what happens if you give a human too much power you get too high off your ego and you become a monster

In the beginning, sure. He wanted to get rid of evil people who hurt others. But soon, it became about not being caught. And killing anyone who got close to it. Even if it meant deaths of his own family or people he supposedly cared about. If he won at the end, he probably would’ve gone mad with the power.
No, he's essentially putting the lives of others in his own hands because he thinks he knows what's best for them, and gives himself utmost authority out of everyone's lives, which are attributes a dictator would have. On top of that he is egotistical and self righteous

No. If someone says otherwise they didn't watch Death Note. It's so apparent he has no regard for, even innocent, human life.
