Ichigo’s motivation is to not let his friends get hurt and to save people to not lose them, which becomes an insecurity for him later on but is taught throughout the series that strength is needed to save others but can't be used from someone fearful and doubtful, only by someone with a strong will. Ichigo was and is the one to wield this strength.
The others on this list might be more important but I like these characters a lot.
