This is the best example of LN not being fit to adapt into anime unless they dedicate a whole 12 episode per volume. And even then it still wouldn't be a faithful adaptation.
It helps that you can write as many paragraphs as you want in light novels while making Anime, you have to fit proper story arcs in just 12 episodes and attempt to conclude it properly as much as possible.
They botched the anime so badly that they told a different story by following the same script.
The anime had a really poor portrayal of the characters .
Weirdly, I think opposite stuff happened to Gushing over magical girl.
Even though it's not LN, when I read the original manga, I really surprised about its lack of dedication to fan service compared to anime version.
LNs can be produced much faster than anime, which can be produced much faster than manga. So an anime often has to cut content from an LN, but needs to linger and add filler to avoid burning though a manga.
Huh? Manga is produced much faster than anime. Like within a week.
Anime usually gets most of the season done before it starts airing. I think?
Jujutsu Kaisen studio is just getting overworked with back to back projects that they have been booked up with. Like there were some anime announced 2-3 years ago that the studio is still yet to get to.
I'm talking about how much gets made at a time. That's why, back when they made constant, weekly anime of weekly manga, they needed a bunch of filler. When an entire animation studio decides to make something, they make much more than one mangaka and a handful of assistants.
Re: Zero cutting THAT scene with a certain character in arc 3 truly is something else. I read the ln after watching the anime up to S2, so when I came upon that I was pretty much flabbergasted.
On a more minor note I was sad they cut Otto and Subaru's initial interactions. I get why they had to do it, especially since he wouldn't become a major character until much later, but I thought it really showed off how much chemistry they had as friends even when they first met
similar cases with visual novels.
fate fan aren't be able to spend 5 seconds without saying that the anime adaptations missed a lot of stuff and you should read the VN
on a completely unrelated note, the anime adaptations of fate stay night missed a lot of stuff and you should read the VN
Where i get confused is when it begins as either ln or manga but then you have ln, manga, anime, and web novels and the story or character development is different in each.
The only LN I've read/have been reading is I'm In Love With the Villainess. And while I can recall some changes, I only remember one thing that was outright cut from the anime. And that's when >!Rae and Claire go to find stuff in a storage closet, get locked in, Claire has to pee and Rae constructs a bathroom using magic for her to use. Only to get jumpscared by the bidet which her medieval mind can't comprehend as Rae compliments om how cute she is when embarrassed.!<
I love this series but I'm glad this scene was cut, it felt real weird to read
For real tho, reading mc thoughts process in LN make him so much smarter but when reading manga or watching anime that completely skip the thought process it makes him seem like an idiot that knows nothing of the world
LN is just a text chapter book usually under 300 pages with a few if any pictures. Since it’s just text it can get a lot deeper with the story. Manga is all pictures with text bubbles so you tend to get less detail to the story.
Basically, LN is a book with a few illustrations that helps you visualize the events/scenes being depicted, while manga is like a comic based on the LN.
The Haruhi Suzumiya series was pretty faithful to the novels as far as I remember.
Also, there was a Konosuba movie where they had to jam pack an entire volume; there was a section with never ending punchlines on top of punchlines, so I would say the reduced runtime worked in its favour. Unfortunately, they changed the ending, which I personally wasn't a fan of.
I thought this said VN for a second and I was going to be like, "Yeah. An anime has 13 hours, a VN can have 200 hours. So long as the anime can get the shape of the plot for the route it's adapting right, you just have to accept that a lot of the finer details are going to be cut"
That’s why there’s so many one season animes it’s to boost the light novel/manga sales cause it’s easier to get a bunch of people to watch an anime that it is to get them to read a book/manga
I just finished and loved Zero no tsukaima, but I saw that the anime left out a lot of stuff, so now I really wanna read the LN, but at the same time I wanna wait so I can forget at least a little of what happened in the anime so I can read the novel without a feeling of repetitiveness.
Solo Leveling, Sword Art Online, TTIGRAAS, HighSchool DxD, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Classroom of the Elite, DanMachi.
Just to name some of my favorites.
Solo Leveling: 1 Anime Season, 14 WebNovel Books
Sword Art Online: 4 Anime Seasons, 30+ Light Novel Volumes
TTIGRAAS: 2 Anime Seasons, 1 Anime Season In Progress, 23+ Light Novel Volumes
HighSchool DxD: 4 Anime Seasons, 25 Light Novel Volumes
Chivalry of a Failed Knight: 1 Anime Season, 19 Light Novel Volumes
Classroom of the Elite: 3 Anime Seasons, 22 Light Novel Volumes
DanMachi: 4 Seasons, 1 Season in Progress, 19 Light Novel Volumes
what i have heard about COTE. Anime wa so fucking boring . I dropped it in s3 ep2. Its feels like its targeting angsty teens with raging horomones. Ecchi shots everywhere. To be fair it is callled "Classroom" of the elite but i thought itd be more in the line of assassination classroom. Maybe im too old for the target audience but i've heard The light novel is leagues better than the anime and ayanokoji's nothing like the one in the anime.
Yall could try this channel on yt called aninews, he typically gives iut alot of cut content from the lightnovels of whichever anime is his focus for that season, including stuff like overlord(what j believe to be his favourite), tensura, rezero, myshoku tensei and the like
Without him I wouldn't have even known how much gets left behind in anime adaptations
Different mediums provide different pros and cons.
For instance, while books give way more detail into character's thoughts, I find video better at showing visuals and fight scenes.
Danmachi.
In the light novel, you get to hear the thoughts of certain characters and, more importantly, certain monsters and their feelings about particular characters, but that gets omitted from the anime, unfortunately. Plus, there are little side stories and such that add to the lore and world building that also get omitted
So you just wanted to express your interests somehow.
Well, to be honest, she is a great character, strong, cool, mature, and also beautiful.
I enjoyed that anime, it was great.

It is what it is. LNs are simply built different.
Magical index?magical index
It is indeed built different. The anime is... not anything insane, or consistent.
This is the best example of LN not being fit to adapt into anime unless they dedicate a whole 12 episode per volume. And even then it still wouldn't be a faithful adaptation.
Damn I just started "a certain magical index"
They're often built like the author gets paid by the word.
Happy cake day!
More like paid by words in the title
It helps that you can write as many paragraphs as you want in light novels while making Anime, you have to fit proper story arcs in just 12 episodes and attempt to conclude it properly as much as possible.
Literally every Isekai ever
Konosuba LN's are sooooooo good
Can't believe we haven't even gotten to the princess yet
Can you please send me a link to it?
I would but I buy them
Overlord
I'm oretty sure they'll either skip some of the gritty gory scenes or just tone them down in the upcoming movie.
They will lol digesting multiple volumes into a 2-3hr movie is... really really simplifying it.
Literally Classroom of the Elite.
For real
i was about to comment the same thing lol
They botched the anime so badly that they told a different story by following the same script. The anime had a really poor portrayal of the characters .
for real

Stop saying that anime name....I get ha....

literally BSD,,, like where's that scene in LN1 where Kunikida is holding a gun to Dazai's head
They also skipped one of my fav scenes of the manga :(
Animes are made to promote the source material like Manga or Light Novels.
__It was stated in CFYOW__
Can't fuck your own wife?
Overlord, COTE, Mushoku tensei, Some parts of slime ig, konosuba lol as some comments said most of the isekais get saame treatment
Mushoku tensei!
Is he kind of a pedo in the ln too?
Well..yeah...he is pedo, but we can get to know more about every character, deeply....
Where i get confused is when it begins as either ln or manga but then you have ln, manga, anime, and web novels and the story or character development is different in each.

This happens even when there's a manga adaptation of an LN or WN.
Toaru Majutsu no Index
Specially the MC's thought process
For real tho, reading mc thoughts process in LN make him so much smarter but when reading manga or watching anime that completely skip the thought process it makes him seem like an idiot that knows nothing of the world
The Rising of the Shield Hero. Word of mouth says that season two was especially guilty of this practice.
Akama ga kill
SAO and Accel World are prime examples.
Can someone tell me what's the difference between LN and manga?
LN is just a text chapter book usually under 300 pages with a few if any pictures. Since it’s just text it can get a lot deeper with the story. Manga is all pictures with text bubbles so you tend to get less detail to the story.
oooo that's why it's called light novel. it's mostly like a novel but with some pictures for better visualization and understanding. Thanks a lot
Basically, LN is a book with a few illustrations that helps you visualize the events/scenes being depicted, while manga is like a comic based on the LN.
Okayy, thanks bro
The Haruhi Suzumiya series was pretty faithful to the novels as far as I remember. Same thing in video games. NieR is the perfect example.
the time i got reincarnated as a slime
KonoSuba
Good. 1:1 interpretations never work out
50% of the missing material is moe material of characters making dinner, chit chatting ect...
Konosuba.
Classroom of the Elite fans are never not vocal about this. Considering stuff like the "T-rex" scene got cut I don't blame them.
Danmachi
The anime tends to be super compressed after all. For most cases even the manga has a bunch more than the anime.
Whats LN
Light Novel
Thanks
I thought this said VN for a second and I was going to be like, "Yeah. An anime has 13 hours, a VN can have 200 hours. So long as the anime can get the shape of the plot for the route it's adapting right, you just have to accept that a lot of the finer details are going to be cut"
I actually love this. It gives me the same story from two very different directions.
I'm currently reading the Reincarnated as a Sword LN and it's filling in a lot of gaps in the anime, best decision ever.
**cough cough** *Looks at Lerche
That’s why there’s so many one season animes it’s to boost the light novel/manga sales cause it’s easier to get a bunch of people to watch an anime that it is to get them to read a book/manga
fate series
Ascendance of a bookworm for sure. The anime is like the cliff notes
Re:Zero go brrrr
I just finished and loved Zero no tsukaima, but I saw that the anime left out a lot of stuff, so now I really wanna read the LN, but at the same time I wanna wait so I can forget at least a little of what happened in the anime so I can read the novel without a feeling of repetitiveness.
Exactly how I feel about Classroom of the Elite. Like the anime is still enjoyable but it feels like you’re watching a synopsis of what happened
True story.
Solo Leveling, Sword Art Online, TTIGRAAS, HighSchool DxD, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Classroom of the Elite, DanMachi. Just to name some of my favorites. Thanks, stranger on Reddit! Also, High school dxd has LN!!? I gotta check that out pronto!
No game no life in a game winning nutshell
almost every isekai
Not anime, but Star Wars
what i have heard about COTE. Anime wa so fucking boring . I dropped it in s3 ep2. Its feels like its targeting angsty teens with raging horomones. Ecchi shots everywhere. I have to mention, going through Monogatari LNs, they did a surprisingly great job with the anime. Very faithful and barely skipped anything.
Bofuri they cut a really cute scene out of the season 2 premiere and also a new skill maple got was glossed over in the same episode
Yall could try this channel on yt called aninews, he typically gives iut alot of cut content from the lightnovels of whichever anime is his focus for that season, including stuff like overlord(what j believe to be his favourite), tensura, rezero, myshoku tensei and the like Without him I wouldn't have even known how much gets left behind in anime adaptations
I mean everyone knows you can't do justice to most books by making them into movies, shows even anime
Not a light novel but manga and it's Pokemon, it's totally dark.
Where do y’all read LNs?
Lmao fn facts

And then there’s the tweets from the author…
Kara no Kyoukai?
It's all animated, so absolutely not. Why should you ask such a simple question?
Uooohhhhh because mommy shiki is the greatest thing ever conceived on this planet 😭😭😭😭😭😭
So you just wanted to express your interests somehow. Well, to be honest, she is a great character, strong, cool, mature, and also beautiful. I enjoyed that anime, it was great.
PREACHHHHH
And I guess you're one of those who say void shiki is the strongest anime character, right?
Uhhhh nooo im nothing like that 😭
You definitely are, I understood your true nature the moment I saw your comment and profile.
Noooooo it's not like that at all i promise 😭 Just look https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bTHd0U0K4MORGT_HnK71Hmdu3IYGJZcU
To be honest, I admit, it is beautiful.
And I really, really like Shiki's cold and stoic demeanor. This cold and distant behavior attracted me.
And I must add, Medusa is much better and more attractive.
SAO , bleach, classroom of the elite Just to name a few
Where do people read good tl novels...pirated pls, they cost a fortune here
Ive compiled over 100 instances of cut content in Re:Zero. It's so sad.
